We have owned a few Subaru's and my mother as well. We have had several major issues with head gaskets, clutch, etc done by Davisdson and have been very happy with the honesty and work done by them. They know Subaru's well and can definitely be trusted to tell you what needs to be done. I've had two run-ins with Davidson auto now and I've gotta say, they're the real deal. The first time I bought a set of 2000 Legacy 18 spoke wheels from them and the second time was to have the job done that every Subaru owner dreads: the infamous head gasket replacement. Yes my '05 Outback, my baby, was starting to show spotting, especially around the drivers side gasket. I called around to dealerships to find prices but I've always been skeptical of them. I've been to far too many Subaru dealers and seen the line of work that wraps around their shop to trust that they're going to take the time and care to perform this delicate and expensive procedure correctly. Emphasis on expensive, might I add. The dealer's were quoting me in the 2k+ range. I called up Davidson's and the whole process flowed seamlessly. I dropped my car off before leaving for vacation, he and his sons performed the work and while they were at it they identified and replaced a faulty wheel bearing that I hadn't gotten around to addressing yet, and it was ready to go when I returned. They quoted me at 1.7k for the job which included everything involved as far as tensioners, belts, etc. and the added wheel bearing bumped the price up by $300. I got an incredible deal. No hassle, no wait, no false claims of required work. Just 100% honesty and ease of mind. I've been waiting to make this review for 4 months now to see if the proof was really in the pudding, and ladies and gentlemen let me tell you that it is. The Davidson's head gasket replacement has now withstood 10,000+ miles of abuse, hard pedal-to-the-floor acceleration, and numerous adventures with the Sport mode function. That includes separate trips to New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, and everywhere in between. Unfortunately I had to move to southern Maryland for a job but if I ever need any large work done on my Subaru again I will without a doubt plan time to take it to Davidson's. Jim was faced with a big challenge when it was revealed that the A/C compressor was not getting power, other's tapped out, Jim took on the challenge and was able to get the A/C working in my Outback. He told me up front that it was going to be a little costly but in comparison of what it would have cost me at a dealer it was a great deal. Jim treated me with respect and understanding and he was financially fair. I don't think anyone else would have been able to do what he did. Thank you Jim and crew! read more
