I had been a loyal customer for nearly two years specifically because this is a veteran-owned business and I wanted to support them. For a repair on my 2017 Toyota RAV4 (replace both front lower control arms, front brake pads + rotors, and one front caliper), they quoted me $2,846. I then received a quote from a long-trusted family mechanic for the exact same work about $1,300. Extremely disappointed. This level of pricing on a repeat customer feels like taking advantage. If I can save one person from having to experience this company, this review will be well worth my time to write. Confusing shop policy and bizarre behavior from the owner. Took my car in for an inspection, my rear tires are worn and need replaced to pass but for some reason Strother Brothers was unwilling or unable to change my tires. They stated that the tires weren't the "standard size", it's an aftermarket staggered set but they fit my model with no adjustments. I've had them on for years with no issue and confirmed on forums that they're appropriate for my model. I purchased the car from a bmw dealership with the current set on it. BMW sewickley had no problem passing my car with the current set either, but Strothers told me they were unwilling to take on the "liability", which leads me to believe they probably have bad insurance. I've never experienced a shop that wouldn't replace tires on an existing set before. They charged $237 in diagnostics just to tell me that they won't replace tires on aftermarket rims. When I went into the shop to ask why they couldn't change the tires the owner emerged from his office and instantly became super defensive. He wasn't able to clearly articulate why exactly his shop couldn't put new tires on the existing rims, he started mumbling something about a risk to the drivetrain and transfer case. Unsure how it would be their problem either way, like I said the set fits the car and BMW certified dealerships haven't made an issue of it. They likely have cheap business insurance and a misunderstanding of how it works and what they're liable for. Or maybe they just wanted to get money for diagnostics without performing any of the actual repairs. The owner also boasted about his military experience and "$5 million dollar building" unprompted, as if either of those things have anything to do with my car repair. He used condescending language and threatened to upload the lobby video of the interaction to his social media?? I guess he needs to validate his embarrassing behavior to his 228 Instagram followers. What are you 15 years old? You're gonna try to shame a customer on social media? Grow up! Very strange and unprofessional behavior. He said if I left a review he'd be happy to "tear me a new one" in the response so I'm sure that he's going to respond to this; he appears to be extremely insecure. I see plenty of other reviews mentioning your poor behavior so maybe you should do some reflecting. You're in the service industry, act like it. I'd expect more discipline from a military man. The best thing about my experience with Strother Brothers is that they had a availability at any time any day of the week, apparently because the rest of the community knows better than to give them business. The shop was a ghost town. Edit to respond to the owner: the stock rear tires for my spec are 245, not 225. 265s are perfectly acceptable for my spec. They passed BMW's 101 point inspection no problem. You didn't once try to handle anything professionally. You instantly became super defensive. You don't even know what size tires are appropriate for my car, but I'm supposed to try to have a conversation about why mine are unsafe? You're a total clown. They also over torqued my wheels, likely out of spite and refused to do anything to anything about it. They told me not to come back so I'll need to file with the local magistrate. The owner is short-sighted and seems determined to be as unethical as possible. read more

Terrible experience. These guys are awful. Took my daughter's car in due to overheating. They send me a bill for over $2,000 for a bunch of items completely unrelated to the overheating issue. I had to come in and talk to them to ask "what about the overheating issue?" They finally at that point talk about the original issue. Well, I pay them over $2K, and the car still has the overheating issue. So I bring it back in and they tell me I will need to pay them $130 for a diagnosis! For an issue they had already supposedly "fixed!" So I end up paying them over $500 to (hopefully) fix the issue. When I mentioned to the mgr that the cost was high, he gave me nothing but attitude back. I would avoid this place at all costs. Incompetent, dishonest, and bad attitudes. read more

family owned veteran business outstanding service and very personal able folks. I highly recommend this business for many reasons to include honest repair service and efficiency. they never make you wait for appointments. I had a truck that was operating with high temp light and a shop in Cranberry told me it needed a new engine so I took it to Strother bros and the assessed it and it did not need an engine. simply a false light and after pressure testing revealed a leak on reservoir only. additionally they have been flexible on moving appointments and always accommodating. read more

Strother Brothers kept me notified of what was going on with my car and when I could expect it to be done. when the parts were delayed, they offered me a rental car. The guy out front is very kind and personable. My only suggestion would be that your technicians wear gloves inside the car or when finished, wipe the interior down. I had a lot of greasy handprints in the car and had to clean the interior. I definitely recommend. read more

I needed an oil change and state inspection so I decided to try Strother Brothers in Valencia, PA. They were fast, seemed very competent and had fair prices. I was very impressed that they send you a text with all the inspection results while you are in the waiting area. They then answer any questions you may have. I took my car to Struthers auto service in Valencia, Pennsylvania for an oil change. I was greeted by the owner, Kevin Struthers, and he said he could take me immediately for the oil change. He had me sit in the lounge and enjoy the flatscreen TV while he did the oil change. At the end of the oil change I got a print out of my brakes, my oil level and other fluids in the car. It was a pleasure to take my car to Struthers in Valencia Pennsylvania, he far exceeded my expectations on what an oil change should be And at a fair price. This place is the REAL DEAL! I moved to PA over ten years ago and got caught in the PA "License to steal" auto inspection program, where garages with "PA Inspection Permits" inspect your car for mechanical and emissions issues. When the car/truck "Passes," they put the state mandated "Inspection Sticker" on your windshield. This yearly sticker makes it legal to drive your car on the road. Many repair shops use this state mandated service as a chance to sell all sorts of expensive repairs that you may or may not need. I experienced this sketchy behavior at several car dealers and chain and independent repair shops before being directed by a friend to Mel Aiken's "Aiken Auto Body" repair shop. Mel not only will tell you if you really need a repair, as he did after a car dealer told me that we would need three parts replaced and quoted $800 for repair of the three items needed to pass inspection. When I took the car to Mel, he told me that two of the three repairs were unnecessary and he did the third for half the price quoted by the car dealer. He and his staff do repair jobs properly and charge for their work fairly. I now take all my vehicles to him for all services that I cannot or choose not to do myself. He and Dave have always made the repairs we needed and stand behind the quality of their work. read more
