About a week ago I called the MPD to report seeing 2 cars with identical rear license plates on…read morethem. The plates were Texas plates, and Texas requires a plate on the front and the back of any vehicle. The person who took my call and my contact information said someone from MPD would call me back shortly. In a while a "wireless caller" called me, confirmed who I was, and basically had me repeat what I'd told the original person at MPD. He said he would "check it out" and "get back to me with any questions". Never heard another word, and the 2 vehicles are now parked side by side at 107 Chase Water in Mooresville (28117). The picture below shows the 2 cars and the 2 identical plates. MPD was very unprofessional and apparently didn't do anything.

over the several years we've lived around here I've had the opportunity to talk to the police on…read moreseven or twelve occasions and while it hasn't always been fun we've never a bad exchange. we had a couple officers out to dispatch a rabid animal one weekend when animal control wouldn't send a tech in a truck. before that we had officers show up with hands on their holsters asking for names and addresses and what are we doing in stern tones and insisting we move verrry slowly when producing identification after I'd accidently leaned on the alarm button. another time a half dozen vehicles came down the street with all the lights on looking for a fellow who had recently committed an armed robbery; we were told rather abruptly to get inside and stay there until the situation got resolved - not super polite but appropriate to the situation... other interactions include questions about street parking, overtaking liquor-sickles, noise ordinances, other parking, the posting of private property to deter unwanted and unwelcome visitors and stuff like that... so yeah, it's hard enough dealing with the criminal element and the willfully ignorant so how about we all just try to get along..?

A police officer could probably write a hundred tickets a day. I just feel like something needs to be done about this matter before a innocent person or persons get hurt. This is not the first time this has been reported. I would appreciated some kind of response on this because Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Head Quarters received a fax on April 27, 2019 about this also.

After she quit she still check on me. (Her mother live down the hall). She came to Cj on me because nobody had seen me for 3 days. To make a long story short, she found me in the bed in a coma. She called my sister n 911. I was in the hospital n rehab for around 45 days. She stays at my house, took care of my dog n drove my van. Now I know why. She found my ATM card n the new code. She and her son took $3500.00 out of my account n about $19.000 of art work, jewelry n other items. When I confronted her she told me to "2 FO" The Popo did nothing. Not even questioning her. I found 1 of the items in another person's appt. The police said I never called them. I have asked the to come back n explain why they were not helping me. They said there was nothing I could do. I have consulted other agencies n officers. They all said they were wrong. I even went to the COP, she made them come back out 1 time n keep me posted. That have not done anything. I come from a long line of police officers n the say they are full of it. So if u encounter a female named Sharone Coleman or her son Justin Williams...run.

Here in the last few months beginning in December 2025, personally, I have dealt with staff personally at the courthouse, believe was courthouse, where civil processes can be filed. Five *and a half* years later, I'm back to renew my concealed carry permit with the sheriff. While…read moreI submitted the paperwork in July for a permit that was due to expire in October, it took until January for it to be approved. And it took a lawsuit. It seems that out of the 100 counties in the Tarheel State, Mecklenburg is the ONLY ONE that is requiring mental health records from the VA even for applicants who swear under oath that they have never served in the military. Yes, the VA is quite backed up with responding to the multitude of requests and they're certainly in no bigger rush to search for records of people who have no records to find. No other county does this. Not Wake, not Durham, not even Buncombe County is asking the VA for mental health records. Under Sheriff McFadden, Mecklenburg is the only one. North Carolina is a "must issue" state which means that unless the sheriff has an articulable reason to deny a permit, they are required to approve or deny within 45 days of receiving the paperwork. Mecklenburg is choosing to declare that the 45 days only starts ticking when they have received the responses from the SIX state hospitals and in 2022/2023, the VA is taking several months to respond. The lawsuit was filed against the sheriff and a response was due within 30 days. According to the signed response provided to the court, my permit was approved three days before the deadline of the response. I can only wonder if it would have been processed in the same (slow) timeline if I had not signed on as a plaintiff. North Carolina law states that an expired permit is valid until the replacement is either denied or approved, as long as the renewal was applied for before expiration. Mine was applied four months before expiration, so I was allowed to continue to carry in North Carolina (I also carried a printout of the statute in case there were questions). But I was unwilling to risk carrying a concealed weapon in any of the nearly three dozen other states that honor North Carolina permits as I did not believe they would honor North Carolina law. A right delayed is a right denied. As such, I remain disappointed with the Sheriff of Mecklenburg County. I doubt they'll change voluntarily. They believe that they're correct. I disagree. We'll see what the courts say. After the recent Supreme Court decision in Bruen, I believe the Sheriff will have no choice but to change. And it's shame that it will take the court to get them to do what's right and what 99 other North Carolina courts are doing. [Review 19103 overall - 3405 in North Carolina - 73 of 2023.]

Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office - This is not the right building. There are signs on the door with very confusing directions.

Awaken again with the shenanigans and noise; I called once more and after 4 minutes I just said c'est la vié .... Hung up. Eventually, they called back. Asked for my info and number, that dispatch has just called me on, but I get it.... It's a form and they've got to due as trained. Anywhoo, here's the 5 piece BECAUSE dispatch was not it. The officers reported out. They cleared the parking lot without ticketing or jailing anyone from what I saw. Two (2) units worked the front while others followed to ensure they left the commercial back lot. This is policing and it didn't require anything negative or ugly. Back in 2018 and 2017, we had good encounters while living Uptown and they taught me there's no 311 to get them out but 911 is more than acceptable when you need their attention to a matter. I hope they get to push ahead with their police village as the city continues to grow they need more officers and more people with Emergency Communication and Services. If 4 million are estimated to be here in a few years then we need up to 10% for staffing all public services.

Do the police get a special dispensation when they park illegally? Should an officer who is not…read moreresponding to an emergency call and has not activated their emergency lights be held to the same standard as the citizens they serve and protect? This evening, I witnessed three CMPD vehicles (two marked, one unmarked) parked illegally in uptown Charlotte. No ticket, no lights, no nothing. A parking area designated as "No parking any time" and yet, no parking ticket. Why do different rules apply to the police when in fact they should be held to a higher standard since they are the ones who should be most familiar with the laws they are enforcing? UPDATE: A Lieutenant from CMPD informed me that all three officers were parked on official police business. [Review 21151 overall - 3515 in North Carolina - 114 of 2024.]
