When I was seen by a specialist in that area, she insisted my issue was a weak right leg. I'd had both knees replaced and my legs were strong. Since I'd limped along for so long before the surgery, my right hip was almost up my armpit. I knew my core was weak. Nevertheless, I went to PT and did the nonsense exercises requested, but still could not walk without a walker or cane. I then switched to another PT on island. Same story. I just about gave up, but my daughter encouraged me to go to the PT I saw after my first knee replacement. DaVinci had closed on island, so I went to Poulsbo. At first visit, I was properly assessed. The muscles on either side of my sacrum were knotted up and not activating. On second visit, he actually laid hands on me and undid some knots. On third visit, he did a little more and my hips are almost aligned. For the first time in 2 years, I have hope that I'll walk unassisted one day. Travel off island, the therapists at DaVinci really know their stuff and listen. They want to make you well, not keep returning infinitely.

At first appointment I was again diagnosed with weak right leg. As I'm not a PT, I thought maybe I was wrong about the strength of my leg. Different exercises were not making any difference. I took a break from PT, but so longed for a walk in the Grand Forest. I'd had both knees replaced two years ago. After my first knee replacement I went to DaVinci on island. They'd since consolidated their offices to one in Poulsbo. My daughter urged me to return to the therapist I'd seen after my first knee replacement. At first appointment, he listened, laid hands on and laughed when I told him about my 'weak' right leg. Legs and hip joints were all strong. It was the knotted muscles on either side of my sacrum that had my right hip almost up to my armpit. I was that skewed. After 3rd appointment, my hips are almost aligned and for the first time in 2 yrs I am optimistic that one day I'll walk upright without a cane or walker for support. I'm doing actual work on strengthening my core, not my right leg.

The staff at BI Health and Rehab, from the food servers and room cleaners to the Director of Nursing and Executive Director, was well trained, extraordinarily polite and caring, and dedicated to the safety and comfort of the patients/residents. Most importantly, the culture appears to be 100% patients/residents focused, with staff such as the nurses, CNAs, aides and cleaning staff all treating patients/residents with dignity as patients cope with needing help with bodily functions, etc. that they can no longer do themselves. All in all, I can't recommend BI Health and Rehab highly enough.

Amy developed an effective action plan that led to pain free running and carrying. I had him for months at a stretch for a torn ACL (knee injury) and a torn meniscus (also knee injury). Simultaneously I was dealing with painful feet (plantar fascitis). He switched between the two overlapping issues and methodically addressed each with appropriate interventions and protocols of movement and care. He is a credit to this Clinic.
