The crab chowder was okay, I forget with Italian cuisine, it's a tomato base not creamy chowder. The chicken with spinach and potato was tasty. The tart from the dessert trio I would actually go back for,but they only serve it with the prix fixe dessert. They do not have a specific tart dessert on the menu. It was so good. Semi busy day which made service very slow. Needed to ask several other employees walking by our table for things we needed. Sometimes they would get them, other times they would forget. Chicken parm rolls and arugula salad were great Chicken entree was underseasoned and the branzino entree was just ok. If the fish skin is left on, it should be crispy, not flaccid. Bartender is weird and ignored me all night while flirting with my boyfriend and showing him selfies on her phone. She tried to give my boyfriend her insta handle. Said she was 44, from King of Prussia, and single. The bartender was like, 50 years old with bleach blonde hair and was hitting on my 28 year old boyfriend right in front of my face (while "forgetting" my drink multiple times). We've been to Davio's's many times. We honestly used to consider it our favorite restaurant. The service has greatly diminished over the last couple years. We went last Saturday, spent $400+ as a couple, and could not have been more disappointed. We sent back our $95 hot appetizer because it was not hot. When we got the replacement, it was just slightly warmer, but still not satisfactory. My husband ordered a side of asparagus that came out as cold as F$ck, we asked the waitress to feel asparagus and she agreed with us and so did the manager! This is not the first time we've been dissatisfied there. And let's be honest, we're dropping several hundred dollars every time we eat there. For our money in the future we're going to Eddie V's. It's a much better dining experience!!Obviously, they know I was not happy with the whole experience at all! We will go back to sit at the bar and have drinks and appetizers, because the bartenders treat us very nice. Our dining days in the dining room are over. And, one more thing, when we try to leave a review on OpenTable, we weren't able to. The cavernous dining space is something of an echo chamber; caught between a high ceiling, hardwood floors, and bustling bar scene, the decibel level, especially when the joint is jumping - which seems to be most of the time - is downright daunting. Depending upon your table location, carrying on a civilized conversation without shouting may very well constitute a major challenge. The general pandemonium notwithstanding, however, the cuisine continues to be first-rate on all counts. During a recent visit, the six diners in our party (three couples) were completely satisfied with the gastronomic goings-on. The majority chose variations on the carnivorous theme: 8-Ounce Center-Cut Filet Mignon, 8-Ounce 55 Day Prime Aged Strip Steak, etc. Though enjoyed during a previous visit, the incomparable Sautéed Veal Tenderloin (pictured), also deserves mention. It remains, without doubt, one of the best veal presentations it has been my pleasure to ingest this side of the Atlantic. The veal was extraordinarily tender, with oyster mushrooms, cipollini onions, and roasted fingerling potatoes putting in superb supporting performances... But, ultimately, it was a rich and savory Marsala wine sauce that succeeded in propelling this dish into orbit. Highly recommended. On this occasion, however, my dining partner and I decided to take the seafood route, both opting for the Atlantic Salmon (pictured). It arrived at table flesh side up on a seabed of sautéed baby spinach surrounded by a pool of warm eggplant caponata. The filet was attractively seared while its interior remained delightfully moist. This entrée had been ordered on one of my previous visits, and it remains a personal fave. Davio's has managed to inject a healthy dose of pizzazz into an all-too-pedestrian piscatorial menu fixture. Our group's appetizer choices ranged from a shared Chopped Romaine Salad to San Marzano Tomato Soup with goat cheese chive crostini to Oysters Rockefeller. Once again, though, my dining partner and I took a different route, sharing a starter to which we have become thoroughly addicted: the Crispy Chicken Livers (pictured). A bath in the deep fryer leaves them irresistibly crispy yet with a moist & succulent interior. They are then tossed with roasted pine nuts in an enticing port wine balsamic glaze and crowned with deep fried spinach leaves. They may not look like much, but, trust me, they are an incredible feast for the palate. That's the good news... Now for the bad. Dining at Davio's is a downright outrageously expensive proposition. I won't bore you with facts & figures, as they are readily available on the restaurant's website. And what goes for food is true of alcoholic libations as well. Dining here is a fiscal tsunami in the making. And so the question remains: Does the quality of the food, service, and ambience justify the hefty prices? That, of course, depends upon your point of view... and the state of your wallet. However, this conversation is NOT about Jean-Georges, or Le Bernardin, or the French Laundry, or La Tour d'Argent, or some other legendary bastion of ethereal gastronomy. No, this is about Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse in beautiful downtown King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. So... is it worth it??? Is it worth paying elevated fine dining prices to chow down on chain steakhouse fare - as good as it may or may not be - in an atmosphere saturated with near-lethal decibel levels? IS IT...? We came for a dinner on a Saturday with a reservation and it was definitely packed at 7:45 with even the seats at the bar full. Our server was very attentive and friendly so adding a star for her. We ordered the cowboy ribeye (medium rare), grilled veal tomahawk (medium rare), lobster risotto, chopped salad, truffle risotto, and goat cheese puffs. It did take about 75 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering and the veal tomahawk came out very well-done vs medium rare. The other dishes were very solid and the ribeye was particularly flavorful. The manager did come out to apologize and removed the tomahawk from our check as well as comp our dessert for the wait (and offered to provide us with other food as well) which was very kind. Honestly, the staff here are great and the food itself, for the most part, was quite solid. I'm hoping that it was just an "off cover" for them tonight as it's a beautiful venue with a good customer-facing team and solid fare. When I say "posh", I'm talking of course about the tasteful open kitchen, the quietly elegant décor and the lost art of actually properly servicing a large party effortlessly. (Think almost invisible care of the patrons at our table. How many restaurants nowadays sweep the table of crumbs constantly throughout the meal? ?) Our party of 8 never had to ask for anything....Our waiter was Johnny on the Spot with water refills, information about our dishes, recommendations, etc... And the recommendations were excellent. We ordered two orders of the Crispy Calamari with Cherry Peppers and Citrus Aioli.($19) and Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls®, Spicy Homemade Ketchup, Spicy Mayo for our appetizers. The sea scallops in the salad and in the entrée were expertly prepared with a nice sear on each side of the scallops. The pork chop was humungous and served with a wonderful cherry pepper sauce that was especially tasty with the lightly smoked pork chop. The braised short ribs could fall apart with just a look and the salmon was lightly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. All of the side dishes were wonderfully prepared and perfect accompaniments to the mains. With regards to desserts, I also had the house Tiramisu and we also ordered the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, Fresh Berries with Vanilla Tuile, Lemon Doberge Cake, Candied Lemon and Blackberry, the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee served with an Orange-Ricotta Cookie and the Warm Chocolate Chip, Walnut Cookie served with Vanilla Gelato and Salted Caramel. My family had the most amazing experience at Davio's in King of Prussia. To celebrate my husbands 60th birthday dinner, the manager Joseph Strano and his entire staff made the evening special. They greeted you with smiles and the atmosphere was welcoming. Cocktails before hand were delicious and the food was spectacular! I absolutely loved our waiter he was perfect for our table and I definitely would say the atmosphere was really nice! It was nice to have a dinner out after having been in the house for the last few months. Davio's was an excellent choice for my meal. I felt safe in this restaurant. All server's had masks and stayed out of my personal space as much as possible which I really appreciated. Wednesday was a good night for dining with less people in the restaurant. I did not feel uncomfortable at any point and enjoyed my meal. Now for dinner. The bread was this amazing popover with Parmesan baked into the top of the bread. It melted in your mouth. I chose the burrata for my first course. The burrata was smooth and creamy. It was paired with arugula, prosciutto, and a fig spread. Paired with a nice glass of wine, this dish would make a perfect meal. For my next choice, I chose the grilled veal chop. It was cooked medium as requested and was tender and juicy. The chop was served with mashed potato, asparagus and a port wine sauce. I did decide on dessert as well. Some issues unfortunately... Slow service - and I mean both weirdly and annoyingly slow. By the end of the meal, my fingernails were purple. Any food that was once hot quickly become lukewarm or cold. Quality of food - for an Italian steakhouse you would expect fantastic quality of meats and everything. In the rare tuna steak that was ordered, there was so much sinew (which shouldn't be the case) it was super difficult to eat. Yes, the gnocchi covered in truffle smelled amazing. Apps were decent but they did not have any of the bone in veal, so we ended up ordering 2 bone in ribeyes. The first ribeye came out without a bone, the second was raw inside. We told the server and they threw it back on the grill. While that is okay, not something you'd expect from a "steakhouse" serving up $80 steaks. The only reason they receive a 4/5 is bc my friends did not like their entrees. One ordered the scallops - despite being told they were large scallops, they were actually very small. What a phenomenal Valentine's Day dinner at Davio's ! I have been trying to try this place for 1.5 years and my bf and I finally got an opportunity to go. The interior is bigger than we expected. There's music playing but it's not overwhelmingly loud. The bread was so good we asked for more. It was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside - almost like a croissant. . I definitely checked the menu ahead of time and had to try the fries chicken livers which reminded me of Szechuan food as it had a sweet and spicy sauce and they were fried really well. The crab cakes had a lemony taste to them and the texture was super soft and delicious ! For the entree we both ordered the filet mignon medium rare. The texture was amazing ! You can really tell that it's a great high quality cut of meat. However the star of the show was the gnocchi which tasted like butter !!!!!! It literally melted on my tongue. I have never had gnocchi like this. It was a masterpiece !!!!!!! I would come back and just order the gnocchi ! For the dessert I enjoyed how they have a dessert cart going around for visuals. It really helped me to see which one to get. We got the crème brule with a cookie in the middle. The cookie was soft and just high quality in general. We really enjoyed this place. You can look at my pictures to get an idea of the quality of the food. The service food and drinks were absolutely on point. We had a nice leisurely lunch before Christmas. Quite a popular place! I definitely see us coming back here. read more
