Please Consider before you hire Tom Davis Handyman. We hired him to do renovations to our porch, repairing the back deck, putting laminate floors down in our living room and hall and also in an extra room. They did such a bad job on our back deck and front porch we had to stop them. We gave them a second chance to fix their mistakes. But only got worse. We gave him 65% up front, since we had to stop them he owes us money but won't pay up. He said he'd settle with us but always makes excuses. He has had COVID or he is out of town. Made the mistake of hiring this man last October, based on promises he made but never kept. He grossly misrepresented his ability to do our job. Said he would have "a whole crew" at our house "all day, every day until the job is done". We were lucky if one or two guys showed up a couple days a week for more than a couple hours at a time. Once he had our deposit we were an afterthought. Every job was rushed and the workmanship was TERRIBLE. Everything they did had to be done over, multiple times, finally by a subcontractor. Halfway through our project Mr. Davis had the nerve to double charge us for the jobs he had to do over which means he doesn't guarantee his work. He also charged us for several jobs he never even did. When we protested these charges he quit and kept the remainder of our deposit. We were forced to find another contractor who had to do some of Mr. Davis' work over. Mr. Davis' workers had absolutely no idea what they were doing. They are not skilled in drywall, painting, or subfloor installation. They couldn't even move furniture without breaking it. When we asked Mr. Davis to have them clean up a construction mess that was left untouched for 4 weeks, all they did was move it from a bedroom to the front porch, then he charged us an extra $225! The icing on the cake was when Mr. Davis made up a tall tale to cover for one of his worker's mistakes. Even though his "theory" was disproven, he doubled down and charged us extra, again, for work that had to be done over due to lack of worker skill and experience. What should have taken no more than a month (Mr. Davis actually told us "two weeks") went on for 4 months before he quit halfway through. We are out over $2,000. It is now April and he has yet to return what he still owes us for work that was left incomplete or never started. If we could rate this contractor with zero stars we would. His motto is "no job is too small". We're guessing "this one was too big". At our last meeting Mr. Davis confessed that making a subfloor level was beyond his area of expertise.
