The average cost with some google suggests the replacement for a TXV should cost between $185 to $750. Not only are they not standing by their work, they are looking to make a quick buck even after collecting upwards of $20k from me for my air conditioners. I regret ever letting this company do new units in my home. Clearly they do not stand by their work.

We came home around noon today to find a small water spot above our return vent. My husband did the…read morebest he could to see the source and quickly realized it was the AC. I called these guys up, and they missed my call but returned it within 5min or less. They got us in same day (today), had a lower service call price than the other places I called, they called ahead when the service tech was coming, and the service tech showed when they said he would. Luis was very professional and knowledgeable and quickly discovered the problem: the dreaded drain line sludge. He installed a blow out valve for future maintenance, did some work to blow out the sludge, applied some bleach and anti sludge tablets, and, for about $10 more than if we had only paid him to clean out the sludge, we were able to sign up for yearly maintenance so we won't have to deal with this again, he will! Luis was a pleasure to work with, he gave us tons of info on what to look out for and how to manage the water spot and dripping that had happened down the return vent, and urged us to call him back if things hadn't dried up in 2 days. Lemme tell ya, we had a miserable time with AC people before we bought this house a month ago. Whoever the seller kept sending out here took a literal week to get here, never showed up on time, and left without fixing the problem three times. When I saw this water spot today, my heart sank thinking that all AC folks would be as bad as the previous ones. But man, dealing with the folks at Grady's and then Luis when he came was like night and day. It sucks that we needed them, but if you HAVE to deal with AC troubles, they're the folks to call as far as I'm concerned!

When he called to tell me - I immediately told him to not call anyone else and to call Texas Eagle! We have worked with Hussein for years and he has ALWAYS taken care of us! What a difference when you have a contractor with proper knowledge. He determined that the coil was under warranty and has the parts, I only have to pay for labor.

I strongly advise caution when dealing with Braswell's for HVAC repairs. He identified a leak in my…read moreevaporator coil and recommended I add refrigerant. He said it could last from 6 months up to 3 years--he wasn't sure--and that if the system failed again, I would need to replace the part or the entire system. He charged me $235 per pound of virgin R410A refrigerant; my system required 4 pounds. The next day, a neighbor told me I was ripped off because their AC was refilled with 4 pounds of refrigerant for the standard service cost of $169. My system stopped working after three days!!! I believe I was intentionally misled into buying the refrigerant. Braswell performed a leak diagnostic and knew how severe my leak was but likely thought he could make $940 now and have me call him back for more work later. Beware of contractors with predatory behavior. I should have realized he was going for the kill when he said no one called him all winter. I later discovered that most companies charge $75 to $90 per pound of that refrigerant. Not only did he recommend the wrong service, but he also tripled the usual charge. When I told him my system had failed only after three days, he wanted to schedule an appointment to "do another diagnostic."
