Had two units replaced , one in august and one this week. Both installations were completed in a professional way with high quality parts . They only use American Standard which is top of the line . Their main installer is Julio, who does a great job. Had them revise some ductwork too to redistribute some air and came out perfect . I walked into Stoffers explaining my problems i had with the ac unit. They set a day and time. Jeremy showed up and within 2 minutes diagonosed the problem that i been putting up with for years. I live in a mobile home and years ago it was replaced with a home unit. They look the same, but the duct work is different. Jeremy set a day for his man to come out and add a few exhaust ducts so ac could breath better. Man what a success, mobile home cycling 73 degrees in this 104 temp. Upon moving my home and law practice to Alvin,Tx, I decided to go local despite a number of close friends in the AC biz. Their lead man Bruce Gourly and I hit it off immediately. Their quote for total AC & heat pump replacement with the highest SEER, moving the attic and outdoor units to completely different locations around the house to accommodate use of the attic as a second floor, all new hanging ducts, and a computerized thermostat was a couple thousand dollars below other estimates with the brand and units I wanted. The installation was a little complex and I'm a bit of a micro manager, but everything about the install by Bruce and his crew went great, and I'm a real happy customer. Maybe it was just a lucky "welcome to Alvin" special, but I sure would bet on them again. read more

About 6 years ago I was referred to them and they did an outstanding job in getting my ac unit replaced for a reasonable amount of money. This time, I can honestly say I have never been treated worse by a company. I called them to come out and repair the unit in the attic. He came out and said the motor needed to be replaced again. The price was reasonable ($550) and he said he would be back the next day with the new motor. He came back the next day as promised and as he was installing it "did something wrong" (his exact words) that caused the head to blow up. He said he would come right back out with the new part on Saturday. On Saturday, he did not show up. I waited a few days to give them a chance to contact me to schedule the repair. On Wednesday, I called the company to see when he is coming back and was rudely told by the lady who answered the phone that he would call me back "when he gets around to it- he IS the owner after all." Wow, ok. I waited until Friday after lunch to call back and as soon as I said my name, she cut me off and said "Listen, I am tired of being in the middle. He does not want to do this job and is not coming back to your house. He left your parts in the attic and he is done with you." I was shocked! I said "He broke an additional part while installing the motor so now if I call someone else, I will have to pay twice as much." She actually yelled at me- "That is your problem. He did not damage anything, it just happened to go out then. Take your business elsewhere." I asked to talk to the owner and she said she IS the co-owner and I will not get to speak to anyone else. I am just stunned that a long-time customer would be treated this way! Not to mention the additional money I will be out for the part he damaged. It makes me really sad because the original owner would never have allowed his customers to be treated this way. ***UPDATE- as it turns out, not my outside unit now needs 2 new capacitors and a new compressor. This will end up costing me at least a thousand dollars, not to mention that I have been without ac for more than three weeks now because I chose them. I called to let them know that they had left a tool at my house and to ask again, what had happened that caused them to treat me this way. She would not tell me anything and when I asked to talk to Jeremy, the owner and the one who damaged my unit, she said he would not ever be calling me back then hung up. If you choose Stoffers to come to your house, good luck with that. Please, someone, tell me that they aren't treating all of their customers this way! read more
