I've been coming here for years- at least fifteen as a best guess estimate. The store front has changed slightly over the years and the entrances as well, but the friendly staff has mostly remained the same. The eye doctors are top notch and the exam process always goes flawlessly. Computerization has come a long way in making sure you get refracted perfectly. The whole eye exam is a very fluid experience and the doctor I have seen is very personable and the front desk staff is very cordial as well. On the glasses side, I have always encountered a very friendly staff and a great assortment of glasses. I have even brought other frames over the years that I purchased elsewhere and have had glasses refitted with a newer prescription. If I'm disclosing all the good and the bad, though, I've had to bring back glasses because they were "off". (If you wear glasses, you know exactly what I mean). To their credit in all cases they made good on their promise to make it right. On one pair I had to return no fewer than three times- but it was made right in the end. I have been going to this LensCrafters for about 10 years. To say I have had only good experiences there is an understatement. The doctors have always been helpful in every aspect . My 3 children are patients there as well. All of us appreciate the staff and will continue to be customers/patients there. I had my eye glasses break on Sunday morning and I tried to fix them with little success. I walked into LensCrafters and within 2 minutes I was greeted and my glasses were fixed. I did not need new glasses at this time but I will definitely be back because they have some really great looking glasses . read more

After having plenty of bad experiences at Cohen's and their pushy sales people, I decided to give LensCrafters a try. Boy, am I happy I did. I think what got me in the door is that it's right by the south entrance of the mall. This is great since I hate walking through the mall. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by a lovely gentleman and even though the store was busy, I still felt like I was given the proper attention. I told them what I was there for and they looked up my insurance and signed me up for an exam. The last time I went, Jeny made the whole process very easy and she was very helpful in helping me choose my frames. Not pushy like other stores. This is where I go to get my glasses and I won't go anywhere else. They always adjust my glasses with no issues anytime I need it. I appreciate the wonderful service!! read more

I went to LensCrafters at Walt Whitman Mall on 3/14/2020 to have eyeglasses made. We are now in 6/19/2020. I have contacted LensCrafters many times by email on their sight, each time I was promised that they are working on my eyewear and it would be shipped to me. To this day nothing !!! This company has done absolutely nothing to try and get my eye glasses to me. And I can't even get my money back. I understand there has been a pandemic, but if amazon and other companies are able to get merchandise to their clients without any problem. UNACCEPTABLE read more

Bad experience while the exam for my son Was fine the ordering of the contact lens was not .was told Lens would come to my come in 3 to 4 days they did not a week later I called and put on hold for 20 mins then told they would call me back no call I called again the next day put on hold again for 10 mins then told they woulld call me back I i then told them that's what u told me yesterday the girl then said no worry we will definitely call you and there was a mix up and the lens will come here on Wednesday no call back and the lens then came to my house on Thursday very unprofessional office never again read more

I needed a pair of sunglass reading glasses, so I called lensecrafters to make an appointment. I was told I needed an eye test, and transferred me to a receptionist who gave me an appointment. I gave them my eye glass insurance information and was told I was covered for both the test and a new pair of glasses. When I got to my appointment, I was told that I had to pay $170 for a complete medical exam instead of an eye test just to get a prescription! (This was ridiculous to begin with, since I already had been using over- the- counter reading glasses, and I already knew the strength I needed!) Since when does an eye chart test cost $170? Needless to say I left without getting the exam or the glasses. My husband also had a bad experience here. He had bought scratch resistant glasses less than 8 months ago which got scratched anyway, and was told it would cost $129 to replace the lens. This place should be investigated. They are trying to steer customers into paying for medical exams they don't need, and they don't stand behind their product. read more

I went to have my glasses frames tightened on Sunday 2/20. The sales woman used heat to tighten them. When I got home I realized my glasses had a web of tiny cracks on both lens. After doing research I realized that since I have high index lens heat should not be applied to them. (Something I was never told when I bought them, nor did the sales woman ask me before she applied the heat). When I went back to the store and explained what happened, I did not receive an apology and I was still charged the $25 to use my warranty to replace the lens. I have been a loyal customer or lens crafters, but I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

My daughter's eye glasses broke and she had State exams the next day. I called 20 mins before closing and they said "Don't worry, just get here." Tina helped me right away and fixed them within 5 mins at no cost. I didn't even purchase my glasses from them. My eye care doctor (Woodbury Optical) refused to help even with 30 min notice so kudos to LensCrafters...especially Tina! read more

Walked in the receptionist asked if she could help me. When I told her I had made an appointment online she insisted I couldn't have and with attitude. I know I did and got a text and email about it. She said I would have to wait a while since the optometrist had a couple people to see. Not a problem. She took my insurance and before even seeing what was covered by my insurance said 90 dollars for an eye exam.. I later read through the new member papers and saw they charged for other services you may not want in your exam. Since I knew my coverage. She lowered the price to 39 dollars? Not sure where she got that price either. After my eye exam went to look for frames. The woman there were helpful but gave me a high price for eyeglasses that I would have bought with my in-network insurance allowance and copay. She first gave me the price of 388 and later gave me another price of 166. Like many of these posts be very careful what they charge you for and careful to discounts that's they will not include for you. Also make sure you know you're coverage other wise they will charge what they want. read more

Worse eyeglass experience ever. Replaced glasses I lost- had an eye exam, got a new prescription that ended up being 2 prescriptions weaker than the ones I lost. Despite saying they can make lenses onsite- many prescriptions they cannot- make sure you know this before ordering if that is important to you. Otherwise, Expect a 7-9 days wait...And expect to pay a fortune. Be careful to review sales prices versus AAA discounts and the like because if you are not up on the math- the salespeople will not tell you which is the greater savings. Also, if you stop in for an adjustment on your purchased frames be prepared to wait if there are paying customers. I am sitting here now- waiting 25+ minutes because only one of the 4 people here can do that and she is busy with a paying customer as well. read more

They lost my business for good when they wouldn't even consider signing an insurance claim form. Just because you don't take my insurance doesn't mean I don't have out of network coverage, and all I needed was a signature. I would have done the rest. You would have been paid in full up front, I wait for reimbursement on my end. I was willing to go out of network, pay more, and deal with paperwork to use your services. There are about a million places on Long Island to have your eyes checked and purchase new eyeglasses or contact lenses. I've tried a bunch of them over the years, and I have to say the Lens Crafters at Walt Whitman Mall and its attached Optometry practice is the best I've found. It was easy to make an appointment with the doctor online, and the Optometrist who took care of me, Dr. Mark Schnur, was the best and most thorough I've ever encountered. He not only took the time to do a more complete eye exam than I've ever had, he took the time to explain everything to me so I knew what I should purchase in terms of eyewear and what I should be aware of going forward. The young lady at Lens Crafters who helped me afterwards was superb: incredibly knowledgable, patient and helpful. I was extremely impressed with the tools and technology she used to help fit me for progressive lenses. The results: two pairs of glasses that look great on me and completely address my vision issues. I was surprised to not find a listing for this business on Yelp (although there is one for another doctor at the practice, Dr. Brian Berliner) and I thought this place was worth sharing with others. Worst experience ever. I called in before coming in and the girl who answered was very rude as if me asking if they take my insurance was the wildest question she's ever gotten. When I walked in, they had a homeless person in the store singing for money. That confused me a lot. The exam was rushed and confusing and nothing like my past eye exams. The walls were dirty and it was unorganized everywhere. The doctor himself that I had made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He made jokes about my job that I did not understand. He also looked at my body in a way that made me uncomfortable and I don't think he realized I could see him through the lenses I was looking through during the exam. Overall he just came off extremely arrogant and made me very uncomfortable. After rushing through the eye glasses exam and the contact exam, he had me try on a pair of contacts. The right contact was blurrier than it normally is without contacts in. I mentioned that to him and he said he doesn't have any contacts remotely close to what my eye prescription is. I don't get why he would just give me a random one. I left with only an eye glasses prescription and an incomplete contact exam with no prescription and no contacts to sample. Yet they still wanted a payment for both. They decided to have me wait while they took customers before finishing to help me. I ended up leaving because I had to go back to work. They called me threatening to put me in collections meanwhile I called and left messages. Finally we got in contact and she took a full payment from me for the entire exam and a lame un-meaningful apology for my "bad experience". I asked about the 10% off I get from my insurance and she ignored the question then rushed off the phone. The next day I went to a DIFFERENT place to get an eye exam and not only did LensCrafters have my eye glass prescription wrong but they were also able to actually COMPLETE my contact exam and send me home with a variety of samples ranging from $400-800 per year as opposed to the ONLY offer of $900-1000 a year Lens Crafters told me I had for contacts. So not only are they rude, unprofessional and inappropriate but they seem to not have a very qualified doctor either. And they clearly just want every bodies $. How gross. I'm never going near that store again. read more

I used to go to this Lens Crafters when I was younger. I don't have eye insurance anymore, and I called to inquire about an appointment. I was literally speechless at the price they charge for exams: $129 for JUST the health exam, and an additional $139 for a contact fitting. Before even being able to order contacts you would be spending more than a year's supply costs. Additionally, the receptionist whom I spoke to was EXTREMELY rude. I told her I didn't have insurance, and asked if there was anything they could do to accommodate me. She just flat out responded no, and kept asking me if I would like to make an appointment, or else there was nothing else to discuss. I will never go back to this place. read more

I just recently broke my frames and had to find a decent replacement. It being so close by.. I figured I would try here and I'm so happy I did. The customer service was amazing. I apologize if I get your name wrong .. but Doug took his time and help me find the perfect frames before walking out. The friendliness of the whole staff was outstanding. I recently went to LensCrafters to get new lenses for my glasses after the coating started wearing off on the old ones. The salesman talked me into getting new frames as well. It turned out the prescription of the lenses was off, so I got the most recent one from my ophthalmologist's office and had their optometrist double-check. One of their opticians said it was better for me to get smaller frames than the new frames I'd just purchased (I'm petite with a small face). I saw the salesman there who'd helped me in the beginning and told him I wanted a refund since I was within the 1-month guarantee. He went nuts to make me reconsider and when I insisted I didn't want them, he became very unprofessional and threw a tantrum telling me "Oh, these are garbage now!! $[cost of glasses exaggerated] down the drain!" He even had the nerve to tell me that the old glasses I was wearing made me look poor. I was so aggravated, I wanted to just get up and leave the store. I told him to just give me the refund and although very unhappy about it, he complied. Very disappointed, never returning again for eyeglasses. This salesman was very rude and unprofessional, only cared about making & keeping a sale. I wish I could remember his name but I hope no one else ends up with the experience I had. read more

I recently had an eye exam with Dr Brian Berliner. The care that I received was 5 star. All of the equipment is state of the art and Dr Berliner and his staff were outstanding. I was experiencing some binocular issues and after an hour exam, Dr Berliner had the problem solved with a new pair of reading glasses and some eye exercises. I also learned that I was only reading with my right eye. I left feeling relieved and cared for. read more

Went in for an adjustment on my glasses and came home to find that there were a number of deep scratches on one of the lenses. The scratches are so bad that I have to get the lens replaced. It is completely unacceptable for their employees to be so careless when doing a simple adjustment. I bought sunglasses from them a few months ago and noticed some scratches on the lenses a few weeks after buying them. I thought they might have been caused by normal wear and tear but now am thinking maybe not because I had gotten that pair adjusted as well. I have gotten my glasses adjusted at other stores before and never had this kind of problem. Also, some of their employees are terrible in regards to customer service. They are outright rude. Beware: they will conduct a $200 "premium" eye exam and contact lens fitting without asking your permission or reviewing your benefits pricing with you. If you don't want to get taken advantage of, make sure you are explicit with the type of exam you want to receive and don't let them do a thing that will be of extra cost to you. This is probably not unique to Lens Crafters, in my experience all optometrists are shameless scam artists and this is probably good advice wherever you go. Just don't go here. read more

Horrendous! Long waits and terrible staff plague the place. They made my lenses wrong (I paid for thinner lenses, but didn't get them. Their solution was to discount my lenses instead of doing them correctly). I wanted the sides polished, but they had ridges on them. One month after getting my glasses, the lenses developed spots due to some unspecified coating on the inside of my lens. Lenscrafters claimed that it was because I didn't use Lenscrafters' brand of lens cleaner (40 years wearing glasses and another optical store said this was nonsense). They replaced the lenses, but the spots reappeared six months later on one of the lenses. When I went to another optical store he noticed that part of the frame (an internal cushion housing the lens) was protruding and torn (the new place repaired it for free, but I needed to send my frames out). Lenscrafters is more adept at making excuses than producing decent work. read more
