This restaurant is hidden on a side street. It has a unique menu of different combinations of foods that you would normally not find. My wife and I had the Mac and Cheese Fully Loaded. It consisted of a foam clamshell full of creamy macaroni and cheese and about 8 chicken wings. I am not a big mac and cheese fan, but this was very good as were the wings. I ordered hot as it says on the menu but was told they don't have hot but Hot Buffalo Sauce. It is reminiscent of Buffalo sauce but sweeter. I believe it is a ketchup based sauce. But far better than it sounds. It had other seasoning as well. There was also 4-6 large shrimp on top of the mac and cheese. Neither of us could finish all the food. I only knocked off a star due to the condition of the booths. The table was not wiped and still had crumbs, and left over drops of liquid from the last diners. There are about 8 booths, and we were the only people seated. They seem to do a lot of business with delivery companies. The second thing I noticed was the at vinyl part of the booths was all worn off on all the booths. So, obviously a poor choice of material. But it really changes the feeling of the restaurant. The parking lot is not too packed (had HUGE speed bumps btw) but when we walked in the place was BUSY, holyyyy. A lot of pick up and takeout orders stacked on the table next to the cashier and ppl bustling in and out to grab and go. We ordered a fully loaded mac and a fully loaded alfredo. One meal is like an american portion size. Lots of food and the food is incredible. The wings were crispy, sauced nicely and GIGANTIC. Honestly, the wings here are *chef's kiss*. I wouldn't mind ordering a pound of those a la carte to chow down on. The mac and the alfredo penne were both excellent (although I did like the alfredo penne a lil more as the pasta was more al dente than the elbow mac and seasoned better with more spice/pepper). I also enjoyed the jumbo fried prawns. Very fresh, with nice big snap when you bit in. Did I mention that they also give you some garlic bread in ur box to mop up some sauce? Absolutely delicious. Such a shame this place isn't in Richmond Hill. I'd be a regular customer. I like that they have some big booths to seat a lot of ppl and the caribbean music to bump to while you eat. I truly had the most horrible experience. I've eaten here before and the wait time was about 45 minutes. Today. we ordered our food at 5:15 and we were advised that it would take 30 minutes, after repeatedly checking in and being asked to wait outside for a phone call, we were advised at 6:30 that it would take another half an hour to be ready. So in total we would have waited almost 2 hours for food that was supposed to take 30 mins. The staff just said it is it what is and did not apologize. Not one of the times we checked in were we advised that the order would take longer. There is an extra charge 0.50 each to upgrade to seasoned, spicy or both. 1. The shrimp, yum yum yum!!!! Omg so delicious tasted fresh never frozen. I savoured each bite. It was lightly battered 2. Sweet chili chicken wings lightly battered. The sauce was on point. 3. Mac&Cheese here is where it fell short for me. I thought it would be more of a baked or gewy mac and cheese. It was not very cheesy just spicy so I could only imagine how bland it would of tasted if I didn't get it spicy. Tried the fully loaded mac, which is a great quantity for $25, coming with shrimp, wings, and their amazing mac and cheese. The jerk chicken with mac is probably my favourite thing though! Portion sizes are huge, and it comes with a garlic bread as well. One box can usually feed 2 people. We ordered a Fully loaded mac and cheese with honey garlic wings and a regular mac and cheese. The fully loaded mac and cheese tasted great, it was spicy, the wings were tender, and the shrimp were just great. The regular mac and cheese also tasted delicious! However, definitely not your cheap eats, but still affordable and reasonable. The workers were direct, but nice. We were planning on dining in the restaurant, but when we went their dining area was closed. We ended up eating in the car instead. THE BEST: THE WINGS wow I can go on about those wings, honey garlic sauce and that delicious hot sauce was a creamy combination with their crunchy satisfying breading. Didn't matter if you're a drum or wing type person, at Davs youre about to be both. THE WORST: I guess the costco garlic bread was the dimmer of the meal, although it upped the presentation it was really there just as an ornament. The way the macaroni was not boiled in salted water made me cringe a bit. I heard some reviews of the Mac being underwhelming, the taste wasn't strong had it not been the layer of stringy cheese on top that saved it. I wish they used a stronger cheese in the sauce to give it more flavor. Overall, I'm telling everyone I know about Dav's wings I really do hope the expand into food court at a mall or even just closer to central Mississauga, it really should be a Mississauga Staple Tip: Dine-in, don't let chicken die for it to be soggy wings. Okay what the actual eff. This is some BOMB-DIGGITY FOOD!! I am blown away lmfaoo - I didn't really have high expectations as I usually end up disappointed in really hype restaurants like Dav's HotSpot... But Dav's HotSpot is beyond my expectations! I ordered on UberEats and despite being approx. 20 mins away from my house, the food came pippin' HOT, fresh and DELICIOUS. I ordered the Loaded Mac & Cheese which came with Spicy Mac'n'Cheese, BBQ wings and Shrimp and the Rasta Pasta with Jerk Chicken. YUP - can confirm that both plates tasted as good as they look in pictures!!!! The jerk chicken was just a tad too salty but I ain't even mad at it in the slightest because the pasta balanced it out and it was so so so good. My fav part is definitely the wings - perfectly crunchy and flavourful. Hell, everything I ordered was PACKED WITH FLAVOUR!! I was a bit hesitant given the prices but let me tell you the portions are HUGGE LOL. My hubby usually finishes every meal in one sitting but he struggled with this one. Happy mini Friday everyone! Hope everyone's week is going great, we are so close to the weekend I can literally taste it LOL hang in there. In other things I have tasted recently, I visited the ultimate comfort soul food restaurant; Dav's hot spot! Pictured here is their "Fully Loaded Mac & Cheese" Doing justice to it's name it was SO filling, the quantity was enough for two people to share (although I'm not sure you'd want to lolol I didn't and ate it all by myself over two days) As for the taste ... OMGGGG guys ... I don't know how to describe it other than it definitely touched my soul and hit the spot just like Dav's hot spot guarantees. Absolutely authentic and delicious! The fully loaded mac comes with Chicken wings and Cajun shrimp, I added lobster for an extra cost and it was SO worth it. Totally recommend adding it if you don't mind spending a bit more! However even without that addition the massive chicken wings and jumbo shrimps will more than satisfy your stomach, taste buds and most of all your soul, after all it is soul food! I've been wanting to try them for so long and my only regret is I didn't try them sooner, their prices are very affordable and quantity is amazing as you can see! They've got deals everyday that can save you even more $$$ if you plan your day right. We went on a Tuesday and my friend got half priced wings, a pound for under $15 soooooo you do the math! I got the seafood fry and 2 loaded mac and cheese. All this food lasted me for several days!! The mac and cheese was creamy, the chicken was juicy and well coated with sauce. The shrimp and lobster were amazing as well. The fries were a bit on the saltier side but nothing unbearable. I originally thought that the location was quite secluded (even though it is near the airport), but business was hustling and bustling! Alright here we go! This is my second time here. Both times did not disappoint. But this will be a 2-in-1 review. I ordered the same item both times; Davs Loaded Mac, it comes with wings and Cajun style shrimp (5 or 6 pieces of each. Sorry, I was too hungry to check, next time lol) on a bed of their Mac and cheese and 2 pieces of garlic bread. I've now tried 2 of their wing flavors; Buffalo and Hot. In my opinion the Buffalo had more flavor while the Hot tasted like Franks or Tabasco sauce (not very impressed) The first time, I paid the extra $0.50 for the spicy Mac; again not impressed. Felt like they threw a handful of chili flakes in my food and swirled it around. This time I opted for the regular and I'm glad I did. Alright, now the wait time. The wait times can be ridiculous. Especially after you order your food. Each visit, after ordering I waited 30-45 min for my food. My advice, is time your hunger lol Overall, worth it if you're into Mac n' cheese. All the flavours from the sauce together with the cheese, shrimp and chicken wings blended in perfectly. 5/5 I got the seafood fry as well. Love the seasoning on the fries and shrimp. The fries were crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside and the shrimp was fried very well! I wasn't a fan of the lobster, there's not much flavour, probably from frozen lobster tail. The bread was soggy but probably because it had been in the container a while before I picked it up. Going here, you should expect a 30-45 minute wait to order and another 30 minutes for your food. I knew that and opted to stay and try the food anyway. The location isn't hard to find at all. Dixie Rd. And Mid-way Blvd. If there aren't seats inside you can easily eat by the curb side and watch airplanes depart and arrive lol. During this time of pandemic they control the crowd appropriately. "X" amount can enter and order. They have someone in the front controlling it. Staff were nice. Parking is minimal since the location of this restaurant is also beside other business offices. So I can definitely see it being busy during weekdays? Maybe? But at this time it was fairly okay. But if you can find parking, you can park across at TimHortons and Wendy's lol. Lots of free space there. Now to the food.... 1) Dav's Loaded Mac. The jumbo shrimp wasn't jumbo to me. It was normal size shrimp. Seasoning was alright. It came with spicy wings which were good to me. The garlic bread wasn't that garlic enough and a tad soggy. The Mac and cheese though, was on point. With the amount of food you got, I think price is fair. 2) Crab cluster: It was okay. Not much flavour to be honest. The outter shell was powdered with seasoning which wasn't that strong. The crab meat inside was also meh." I don't think it was worth the price. 3) Jumbo Shrimp: you already know how u feel about from the first platter I spoke of. 4) Mixed Wings: literally you pick two sauces and they mix it. Tah dah! The food overall is just amazing and you can really taste the love they put into that restaurant and the food they make. Only downfalls they have is that they're a bit pricey but worth every penny. I strongly recommend getting spice and seasoning add ons, it'll be too plain if you're used to soul food and Caribbean food if you don't add it. The Mac was strangely a bit sweet but I ate it all. I prefer a baked Mac but this one was good just really hearty so beware. I got the honey garlic wings they were crispy and fresh but the sauce was pretty plain. The shrimp were good a bit salty though so bring water or get a drink! The garlic bread was kind of just a garnish and just regular bread. It would be great if it had Parmesan or if it was a baguette. I shared it with a friend itd be way too much for one person unless you're an Olympic heavyweight or you'd like some left overs. The entire plate came to 30.49 after tax which was not bad! The line was at least 1 hour 30 minute wait in the cold and then another 30 minute wait for the food to be ready so together it was a 2 hour wait. They could have easily created an online order page so people could wait in their cars google forums are free and easy to use no reason people should wait over an hour in the cold only to go back and wait again for the food. Was really excited to try this place and once I finally did, it was just.... Okay. I had their Mac and cheese and wing combo and it just tastes, OKAY... Mac and cheese was basic, nothing new and nothing crazy, wings were nicely cooked , not enough sauce on the wings and a slice of greasy undercooked garlic toast. Not worth the $20 at all. I am a regular customer, and I very much enjoy the food. However, during almost ever encounter I received impoliteness from mainly the manager, I believe her name is Keisha. She seems to have a short temper, and is very dismissive which is very unprofessional, considering this is a business that profits off their customers. In addition, the owners need to reconsider who they have representing the establishment. I love supporting small businesses but people like this make it hard.
