What a busy place! We didn't realize we had arrived a little before closing time. We were cheerfully greeted by the employees who were blurs of busy-ness as they expertly handled orders at window, inside & on the phone. There is a very small indoor dining area, and we found seats at the counter (but don't count on it during busy times!) which was an added bonus for us! We are rock-hounders and LOVED trying to identify all the beautiful pieces in the inlaid countertops as we ate! Our Mushroom Swiss burger was HUGE and served on a good quality grilled w/butter bun! This was no "McClown" burger! So glad we decided to share this time, because the Banana Split was epic! The pic doesn't do it justice but the hard-pack ice cream blobs were as big as baseballs!!! I have always loved Tastee Treet. Today I was going to eat at a different restaurant but at the last minute I thought I would treat myself to a Bacon Burger. I usually get them to go but today I thought I would have it fresh off the grill and eat there. Inside there was a table of 4 and me. There were people outside too. They were busy. Took me 15 minutes to order but thats ok I really wanted this burger and to sit and read. The table next to me got there order and 3 out of the 4 burgers were wrong, So after the confused waitress finally figured out what the right ones were for the other table they recooked them. Their order came out one burger at a time very slowly and they were still not right. Finally got it right. I had now been waiting for my burger for 40 minutes. But ok they were busy but I needed to get to work. I asked them how long would it be and the cook said he is just putting on the grill. Really? A total of 55 minutes and they hadn't even started it. I needed to get to work so I asked for my money back because I now did not have time to eat lunch. As I was getting my money back the waitress said sorry they were really busy. "That's fine but you made them wrong 4 times". I am now at work very, very, hungry and I work until 10:00pm read more

I had higher expectations. About five years ago, I visited this Tastee Treet on a warm July evening and had some amazing milkshakes with my family. I should have left that idyllic memory clearly in the past. Fast forward to recent weeks, I went to the same location after a day of work and ordered the Round Up Burger combo. The location is like I stepped back in time, but not in that Route 66 kind of way, but more in that small town, home style kind of way. It's the kind of place you go after school, or go on your first teenage date, or after the game, win or lose. I sat down at the counter and was unenthusiastically greeted by a young lady working there who gave me the distinct impression she would rather be anywhere else but there. I specifically ordered the burger without pickles, because I can't stand pickles, and she kind of nodded and didn't write it down. This was actually the last I saw of her as she disappeared into the back to cook the food. Now the defining feature of the Round Up Burger, which is a variation on the BBQ western cheeseburger is the BBQ sauce, which was void on the burger I received, and it was absolutely loaded with pickles. A moment later another girl showed up, and I explained that I ordered it without pickles and that it was missing BBQ sauce. The second girl seemed eager to please, and was a vast improvement over the first girl. She brought BBQ sauce for my burger and removed the pile of pickles I had taken off the burger and placed upon a napkin on the side. I put the sauce on the burger, and took a bite, and it still seemed dryer than the Nevada desert I had driven through a few days before. But still, the second girl still seemed like she had a grasp on customer service and was checking on me constantly, attempting to gauge my satisfaction, or lack thereof. The fries were pretty good, hand cut, and seasoned. I also had a tea/lemonade drink, which the second girl was checking to see if I needed more. I don't exactly know what I was expecting from this location, perhaps I'd built it up in my mind from a previous visit, where everything seemed perfect, and got an experience that was anything but. I don't know either of the girls who work there, but I definitely think that the second girl tried hard to turn around a bad encounter, and deserves to be recognized for her efforts. While she tried hard, it still didn't sell me on going back there for anything other than a milkshake in the future. read more

Came to visit family in the area. They suggested Tastee, and I thought I would be getting a salad or just a shake since I can't eat gluten. Man, was I surprised. They offered Gluten-free buns and BREAD! I can a patty melt and fries, and it was messy as all get out and so good. Family all got burgers and they were happy with their food. Outside of the food, the staff was very nice and helpful. I will say, don't go here if you're in a rush as it will take a bit to get your food. Also, seating is limited but there is a park across the street with more tables. All in all, it was great and can't wait to go again next time we visit. read more

Disappointed in the burger and disintegrating bun. Both cheapest available. If that's what you expect, then it wasn't too bad. Decent flavor. Was given fry sauce, which was mayo and ketchup. But no silverware. No offer of ketchup for my dozen tater tots. Which seemed the minimum allowable to be acceptable. I had to order a side order to get more. On the bright side they were perfectly fried, not overfried like so many other places. In sum, it wasn't as expensive as many other burger joints, but you get what you pay for. Traditional hamburger and malt shops are almost a thing of the past and the ones that still do exist most often just are not good. Not the case with Tastee Treet! If you want poor service and cold food then this is the place. First off the restaurant has the most ridiculous entry and waiting area. No place to stand or get interrupted while trying to place an order or eating. It was 4:00 pm so they weren't busy. Only 4 customers and 4 to 5 staff members. After placing my order the staff said that they would take it outside to me after it was completed. After waiting for several minutes, I went inside and it seemed as though my order had been finished, but they had failed to tell me that it was finished. So big disconnect between staff and no one showing initiative to figure out who this order was for. read more

Covid is over. So using it as an excuse and get to work being good at customer service. This was my "3 strikes you're out" visit. The last 2 times were a total disappointment with terrible service and food being cooked wrong. Then there was a time in between that I just remembered we never even ordered after waiting 15 minutes without even being acknowledged while the teenagers stood there gossiping and complaining. This visit it was clear they were busy which I'm sympathetic to and I get it but then for some unknown reason the girl who took my order just walked away and didn't give my order to anyone else. I sat for 20 minutes and watched many other customers order and get their orders without ever receiving mine. So, I finally asked about my order and it turns out no one even knew my order existed so made it quickly and poorly and made excuses and have me lip for being upset because they were busy. Even the cook came off of the line to get out of line with me by popping off with "we were busy man". There's busy, and then there's just bad at your job. I'm not an idiot and I know the difference. Also, if you're going to talk smack about your job and tell people how much you hate it and want to quit, mauve don't do it in front of customers. That is why you got a $.50 tip (which, btw I also heard you complain about to your co-worker. I'm 100% done with this place. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

AWFUL! The burger and fries were cold and greasy. waitress was slow and dumb. Floor and counter were dirty. Booths were closed due to broken register which makes no sense. Freezing cold in there. We waited 45 minutes for a mushroom Swiss hamburger (which was about a 3 out of 5 and had no mushrooms) and a literal handful of tater tots. There were about 10 customers and 4 kitchen staff. Didn't see a single person cleaning tables, kitchen area or even washing their hands. (I am not a clean freak but raw meat and sticky tables---ugh). WOW what a real TREAT! Yah yah I read the reviews and couldn't wait to try their burgers, but honestly, I wasn't expecting much. Was I surprised! First off this is the cutest little burger place ever. The staff is young and fun, super fast and all hustlin'. Our orders came out fast and hot! It has a 50's vibe and is set up like an old time diner / soda counter. We sat inside at the counter but there is outside covered seating and booths as well. Big menu, lots of options and an enormous shake menu (we were so full from our burgers and fries, we didn't have room for shakes this time). I have never seen so many shake options. I had the mushroom swiss burger and it was everything you would want it to be. HUGE burger, lots of gooey cheese, and all the toppings. I got regular fries and they were great, I did add malt vinegar and was happy to see they had it (lots of places that serve fries, don't). Topped it off with old fashioned vanilla Coke. My daughter had a cheeseburger with regular fries, and a vanilla Coke. She doesn't eat bread or toppings so IMHO it was boring, but she loved it. The burgers are HUGE! The good tastes amazing and I would give them 5 stars for flavor and quality but I ordered a gluten free cheeseburger and fries and was so sick by the time I got to Bend. Start of order in DT was well handled, we asked for an additional shot of malt in the shake ordered which wasn't supposed to be large. The shake was only tasting like a chocolate malt because you knew it was "supposed to be that flavor". It came back with a wink and a "hope that tastes enough like chocolate for ya" response from a young kid named savannah. Have you ever guzzled Hershey's chocolate syrup? I now have. RUDE!! I grew up in Prineville and have enjoyed the Tastee Treet since I was a kid. Had lunch yesterday July 19, 2023. Read some of the previous negative posts and all I could think is maybe you need to take a look at yourselves and quit being so self righteous! Staff was friendly and attentive. It's not a fast food restaurant so if you need it quicker, make a phone call! I too had the mushroom burger (because of the previous negative post) and give it a 10/10!! It was wonderful, literally melted in my mouth! All I could think is how much fun it was to reminisce on meeting my dad for lunch when he'd walk over from the courthouse. Tastee Treet is a Prineville icon that can easily outlive your big city trash talk. And the ice cream is amazing!! read more

My friend saw this place and screamed with excitement. We just have to stop she said, and glad we did! It's a very small old-school diner; it can be a bit crowded, with only about 10-12 seats around the counter. There is seating outside that we enjoyed. There is also a walk up window to order. Many different ice cream flavors, and we went with the classic soft serve swirl, and chocolate ice cream. Super good and perfect for the hot day.
