My dog, Tikva, has some pretty intense stranger danger but immediately loved the owner Kathy and her daughter Lana. We also loved Emma and Lillian, and the rest of the staff. They always put her needs first and never pushed her out of her comfort zone. I always got amazing personalized communication (and cute pics) from them. I really appreciate how they offer solo daycare/boarding to accommodate her issues. The extended hours are also a big plus! My dog LOVED going to River Dog Inn. My dog has always boycotted her food during boarding and I've tried everything- I thought- from wet food, treats, even medicine. But little did I know that warm water is the trick but in a plastic bowl... like how did they figure this out? With care and knowledge I would say. The fact that they took the time to figure our girl out was so amazing. When I picked up they quickly mentioned that she ate so well and I was shocked. Before boarding, I specifically explained that my dog eats too quickly and will vomit if fed too much at once. I offered to provide his slow feeder and gave clear instructions that he should be fed slowly they refused and promised they would feed him slowly. Despite this, after watching the camera he was fed approximately 4 cups of food at one time in a regular bowl. This was the exact situation I was trying to prevent. I was also concerned about the amount of potty breaks he received. My understanding is that he was only taken outside about twice per day, which I do not feel is appropriate for a puppy of his age. Another concern was the way I was treated as a customer. I monitored the cameras because I wanted to ensure my puppy was being cared for properly. In videos that were sent to me of my puppy, I felt that I was being ridiculed and mocked for checking on his well-being. As a pet owner, I do not believe that caring about my dog's safety and treatment should be met with that kind of response. After learning about prior allegations involving the facility, these experiences raised additional concerns for me about the quality of care and professionalism provided. My review is based on my personal experience and concerns regarding my dog's treatment while in their care. Pet owners should ask detailed questions and make sure they are comfortable with a facility's practices before leaving their animals there.

They answered all my questions and I could tell they are well trained by the way they interacted with my dog. Unfortunately, there have been significant changes this year that have completely changed our experience. All of the doctors we trusted have left, and the level of customer service has declined dramatically. For a period of time, there wasn't even anyone available to see pets on Saturdays. It has also become increasingly difficult to reach the office by phone, with calls frequently going unanswered. Messages are often not returned in a timely manner, if they are returned at all. Another major concern is the push to have prescriptions filled through Hillcrest's online pharmacy. We have been told that they will not provide prescriptions for us to fill through an outside pharmacy, which feels unnecessarily restrictive and is particularly disappointing given the significant prices we have paid for their services over the years. I was always willing to pay higher prices because I trusted the veterinarians and felt that Hillcrest provided excellent, customer-focused care. Unfortunately, with the loss of the doctors we trusted, declining customer service, difficulty communicating with the office, and the pressure to use their pharmacy, I no longer feel that the value is there. After more than 20 years as a customer, I am very disappointed to say that we will not be returning to Hillcrest.

We…read morehave a "challenging" rescue dog, who tends to be a little territorial with visitors (and anyone near our house really), and has a few odd quirks on walks, so I was initially nervous hiring a dog walker because of this. But, Ashley is the best! She took a lot of time to meet with us before going solo with our dog, and really listened to my concerns and advice on the best way to make our dog comfortable with her. She has also worked with a local trainer (the same that we have used actually) so she has a great background in dog behavior and is very knowledgable. She's had many years in the pet sitting business and this is exactly that for her- a full time business. She's licensed and insured and far more responsible than your neighbors college age kid for pet sitting. I really appreciate that Ashley is very detail oriented and trustworthy- she is at my house when she says she will be, my dog is always fed, safe and happy, and my house is always locked and armed when she leaves. (Honestly, this is more than I can even manage some days lol) She's really one of the few people I trust with my crazy/challenging dog, and one of the few people that my dog seems to like and trust as well, and that in itself is a very high recommendation!
