These guys saved my bacon today! I am selling my house and needed to get the dogs out of the house fast. The team at Paw Paws went into action. I got my vaccine documents to them, filled out an application and they "interviewed" my dogs to make sure they could play nice with the other dogs. I appreciated the lengthy application form because it helps the staff know more about your pets. They have indoor and outdoor facilities that looked like they're cleaned regularly. You could tell everyone there really really loves animals. When I came to pick up my pups, one of the staff members was snuggling with them. It was super adorable! Their pricing is very competitive and they are open longer than the other nearby doggie boarding outfits. I'm so glad these guys moved into the neighborhood. They're also right down the street from Hollywood Feed where I buy my dog food. It's a win-win all around.

Response was irrelevant to my claim

Clearly Paw Paw's pets did not read the previous complaint that I left on Yelp so I will update the community based on their response. I never claimed using your services. I recounted the gross behavior that two of YOUR employees displayed to me- merely a passer by. Reading is fundamental, there was nothing false about the recount. Negative, absolutely, I would be embarrassed as well. Take accountability, apologize or move on. Responding to me will just result in these kinds of posts, not good for you.

This evening, I witnessed another dog obedience class that is one of the services offered at Paw Paw's Pets. The session was an introductory lesson for both the 10 week puppy and his owners. It's amazing the things you learn and the things you've always known just never applied to your pet. I enjoy the session and loved seeing the interaction between the trainer, the animal, and the owners. All the while, one of the service dogs, Jet, just sat by and watched with me. Jet had an interview this evening with a vet for possible placement.

Because of his size, and how excited he could get, he was really hard to walk, and whenever he saw another dog, he would pull my arm off. My wife refused to walk him, and I rarely did. Over the years, we tried many things (classes, special collars, other dog trainers), but just gave up, figuring you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Hank is a 2 year old Brittany who we rescued as a 1-year old. He never learned basic obedience, and it became very frustrating to try to communicate what we wanted. Enter Drew. We enrolled both dogs in the In Home - Off Leash Training. Drew came pretty much every day to our house for about an hour or two while we were at work for "as long as it takes", which ended up being about 5 weeks. He was very flexible, and worked around our schedule. After the 5 week in home training, Drew showed us how to do everything, and for the next several weeks, our dogs learned how to trust us to train them. Now both dogs walk perfectly behind me without pulling on walks. If they see another dog, they just keep walking, and don't pull or jump or bark (this one still amazes... if you could have seen them before!). I even feel comfortable enough to take both dogs at the same time! At the park, they will come when called. They can sit and stay, and be patient. It's kind of incredible to have such well behaved dogs! Sure, the training is expensive, but it really works. In my opinion it's worth every penny, because we have happier dogs, and way less stress.

My new puppy, Shiner, was not interested in being the ideal dog. She was full of energy and had difficulty in paying attention. I tried everything I could possibly think of to help motivate her into a functioning member of my household. I spent 10 minutes on the phone with Meridith Caver of The Polished Pooch and knew she would be able to help. Meridith Caver is amazing. After the first session, Shiner was able to sit. Meridith is great at explaining what Shiner worked on during the day and what we should do at home to help further her training. We have learned how to make Shiner a part of the family, not the master of the house. We still have work to do, and we know Meridith will be there to help us alone the way. Shiner is a different dog since she started puppy school with Meridith. In the mornings when Shiner has puppy school/day camp, she is excited and knows where she is going. When she sees Meridith and Debra, she gets so excited to go and play. I feel very comfortable allowing my Shiner to go to puppy school/day camp w/ The Polished Pooch. The staff cares about your baby, just like you do!

Danny took a personal interest in my dog and really focused on helping him and me both. He really FOCUSED on MY DOG. He isn't at all concerned with trying to train too many pets at once or running as many dogs through his program as possible, and he never passed my dog's training over to another trainer. He's a compassionate trainer who understands the bonds as well as the behaviors to be addressed. What's even more amazing that all the wonderful things he did while my dog was in board and train with him is the amount of active support afterwards. He's made so many trips already to make sure that *I* am taught what to do and how to do it... and has made more plans as well. Danny is determined that Ramses and I are going to have a good life with clear boundaries and ingrained positive behaviors. He explains the concepts behind the techniques so that I can understand them. Also, the level of care that my boy got while with Danny and Erin was exceptional! Not once did I have the first fear that my baby wasn't being well treated.... which shows in how affectionate my dog is with them! I really can't say enough positive things at this point. Like I said, my life has changed, is changing, and he may very well have saved my dog's life. I am happy and comfortable with the balanced training approach. She has also worked with a local trainer (the same that we have used actually) so she has a great background in dog behavior and is very knowledgable. She's had many years in the pet sitting business and this is exactly that for her- a full time business. She's licensed and insured and far more responsible than your neighbors college age kid for pet sitting. I really appreciate that Ashley is very detail oriented and trustworthy- she is at my house when she says she will be, my dog is always fed, safe and happy, and my house is always locked and armed when she leaves. (Honestly, this is more than I can even manage some days lol) She's really one of the few people I trust with my crazy/challenging dog, and one of the few people that my dog seems to like and trust as well, and that in itself is a very high recommendation!
