BrownDog Lodge takes wonderful care of our pack, we love the live cams! When we say, time for daycare, they lineup by the door waiting for their leash to be attached. Soka, our coonhound follows us all over the house in the morning making sure she is not left behind. From the live cams we can see our old dog Jim laying in the sun and welcoming others to nap with him. Noah and Soka run and play with others all day long. Teddy, our puppy, runs and runs with the other pups, then they all nap and start all over again. Our pups are happy, and tired when they get home. read more

The Brown Dog Lodge - Germantown was a doggy blessing-an unplanned trip out of town! Aléjandro, my handsome 12.5 pound FurBaby, is an 18-month old Chihuahua. In the last 11 months I "discovered" he is smart, curious, but also stubborn! He is not particularly fond of other little dogs. On day 1 - I saw him nervously walking around until he bonded with another dog and they started to play! The indoor outdoor arrangement by size is just wonderful as I watched him play in & out side. I checked in with the FurBabySitters and they said he was nervous at first. I watched him for the rest of the day and saw him do his "prance walk" around the indoor perimeter and I knew he was home! The FurBabySitters are really dog folks!! They are invested and courteous and treat their FurBaby guests as their own. I was unable to see Aléjandro's room camera and due to my asthma I did not personally visit the area though I was offered the opportunity during intake. The cameras did not work consistently-at times I could see other areas, but not the little dogs'. At the end of his stay the FurBabySitters confirmed by phone the scheduled pickup date & time and when I wanted him bathed. Upon pickup he was happy and well taken care of. He had not been overfed and was surprisingly calm and jumped into his wheeled carrier only to snooze on the way home. My only concern is the lack of human folk overnight; though I was reassured they had a great camera system for employees. Staffing one person who would be allowed to sleep and be paid 1/2 (as they are sleeping) would cost a little, but not too much... The owner/operators might be as to who would actually l volunteer for the overnight shifts. Overall, this facility is a well thought out and executed. The extras far outweigh my concerns and included a stocked area of doggie supplies if owners forgot to bring something. This was our first time using brown dog lodging. I have 2 pointers and they absolutely had the best time. In the reason I know that is because I could watch them as much as I wanted to on their video cameras. I was worried that they would be shy or bored but I could tell that they were very engaged. My older dog's tail wagged the whole time which really made me happy. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. I took my own food for my girls to eat. Everything worked out just perfect. Our family is so upset with the service of our pup. As a newer customer of BDL, I just had to write in after my dog received the most ridiculous grooming cut today. We spent 7 months growing out his fur just for him to get an unwarranted summer cut. I asked the groomer to keep his fur long and keep his beard especially long (which was chopped in more than half)... what we got was a near-shaven dog. All that time was wasted. You can even see in the video (which was recorded today on the way to the grooming appointment in Germantown) how long and flowy his fur was finally able to grow up until this morning. When I spoke with the front desk member, I went into great detail on the trim we wanted. I even texted reference pics to her (attached). I even received a call from the groomer and told them that we don't want a schnauzer cut nor his beard cut down short. It is also ridiculous that we don't get to meet the groom at the time of drop-off to give these important direct details face-to-face. The final results wear a short/flat-shaven down that we could have done at home. It had no style. Just a short/flat-shaven cut. I don't believe BDL has trained groomers. Even a standard schnauzer cut (which we didn't request) would have left his beard which is the main characteristic of a schnauzer. We only bought Kai to BDL a few times for daycare in recent months. My family was already weary of continuing to support BDl after Kai was released back with legs covered with urine/feces. Repeated bad service (to this degree) is not fine. On top of that, when I came on my lunch break to pick him up today, I didn't have my wallet and thought I could use my Apple Pay. Come to find out, I could have used my card on file and saved me a trip (and gas) coming back home to grab my wallet. Which made me run over my lunch causing me to miss a meeting. While we appreciate the half-off from the manager...this was another horrible experience. read more

This review for grooming only. they are lazy groomers. I have labradoodles that I keep brushed and combed. im very careful to insure no matting. If there's any small tangles (not matted close to skin) they want to shave. I also have home in Florida where I take them for grooming. they NEVER even suggest to shave them. read more

I hate that I have to even give them 1 star. I dropped my 2 year old Great Dane at 7am and at 9am I saw him being humped and called and told them. I then picked him up at 4 pm and took him home. I looked at him and he is missing chunks of fur on his back and blood on his inner thighs. They did not tell me that this had happened at all! As someone who has worked at a dog daycare this is unacceptable! I talked to the manager this morning and was so disappointed. They told me that multiple dogs had humped him and been moved. The fact NO EMPLOYEE noticed the blood and his back for hours is atrocious. They told me not to pick him up and they would take care of it. Why did they not call me to pick him up since they could not fix the issue. For anyone that reads this please pick a daycare that might not have all the bells and whistle but the employees have the one goal of taking care of your dog with love. We have gone to Brown Dog several times and it was fine, but this was the last time I'll ever take my babies there. They are understaffed, overbooked, unprofessional, and not trained to care for dogs with varying temperaments. My dogs were left in their "room" all day bc they couldn't get one of my dogs back in after daycare one day so they just never let her go again?? She was terrified and nobody worked with her to try and calm her. She has NEVER been aggressive, but David called 2 hrs after we dropped them off, and left me a VOICEMAIL to say she nipped a staff member and asked me to come pick her up. Of course, we're on a flight already (as most people are traveling when they board their animals), so I don't get the message until later and PANIC about what I'm going to do. Nobody EVER called me back!! I finally got someone when I called Monday morning and she didn't seem to care. I still have not heard from a manager, owner or anyone that seems to care as I have left voicemails, filled out online forms, etc. This place is not what it seems, so do not be fooled by the "luxury boarding." Their room was covered in diarrhea and I had to call to bring this to their attention. It took 30 minutes for someone to go get them out as I watched on the camera!! Both my dogs are at the vet today sick and one with a swollen eye and a cut that nobody mentioned either. Odd. We spent $600 to try and have a restful vacation knowing our pups were being cared for the way they rely on US to do and I am utterly devastated that is not what happened. Please beware of this facility and choose better for your dogs. I'll never forgive myself for putting mine in those conditions when I recused them to keep them OUT of situations like this. read more

Great service and care for your fur babies! I have never had a problem while leaving my baby in their care. I've used both their day care and boarding services and can't see myself using anyone else. My babygirl goes to the Germantown location and though I have moved further from this location, the drive is worth it being that I trust that they really love and care for each of the pets there. Ashley helped to ease my concerns from the start and she and the other staff members greet my baby by name every time!! You will not be disappointed with Brown Dog Lodge ... give them a try if you're looking for a great place to board or for your fur baby to make friends and burn off some steam. Be ware - Brown Dog will transport your dog to their other facility and back WITHOUT your permission. How do I know if he was ok in their kennel? How do I know how they transported him? How do I know he wasn't sliding all around. UGH!!!! I am sorry their hot water heater has been out for 3 weeks. I should have been asked if it was ok to transport my baby when I made the appointment or one of the three times I spoke with the office in the last week. Or perhaps they could have asked when I dropped him off this morning. DO NOT TRUST THIS grooming facility. On a side note, they lost my boyfriends dog records. Second time I've been dissatisfied with BrownDog Lodge...there won't be a third! I picked up my two dogs today after boarding them Fri-Sun, paying extra for day-play and grooming. Since their groomer has limited hours, my Golden Retriever was scheduled to be washed and groomed the day I dropped both pups off three days ago. I explicitly requested at the front desk on Friday morning that both dogs get washed Sunday; before today's pick-up. I watched as the staff member sitting behind the counter noted to wash my Golden Retriever a second time on Sunday before I picked him up. When I picked them both up at 4:30pm today, they were over-the-top full of energy and smelled terrible. I could tell by their energy that my dogs had little to no play time today (Sunday). When I asked about why they were so hipped and smelled bad, the staff told me that my short-haired dog was washed, but my Golden had not been washed since his grooming three days ago. He "smelled bad because it's been raining so much", they said. Of course they had no record of me requesting that BOTH dogs get washed today. "Because BrownDog Lodge only has three hours of day-play on Sundays, their energy is high". Put another way, my two dogs were kenneled with no exercise or play time for seven out of ten hours today and my washed short-haired dog was kenneled with my terribly smelling long-haired Golden Retriever for the other seven hours. This defies not only what I requested, but common sense. If you treat your dogs like we do...like family...don't send them to this place over a weekend! read more

Don't take your dog here. I had to return early from my vacation due to their incompetence & neglect. I had to ask more than once for her blanket to be put on her bed. I paid for daycare, she was locked up @4 saying it's because theh were getting ready for dinner, when she eats at 5. I went to pick her up today and she didn't have a collar or leash on and almost ran out of the door. To top it all off, I packed her treats to get every day, they did not give her a single one. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. It's sad how much they do not care. read more

We are very particular about who takes care of our dogs. Well, lets just say that Brown Dog Lodge did a wonderful job. We could tell that our girls Izzy and Khalessi were well taken care of. They were so patient with Khalessi even though she isn't quite housebroken yet. The kids love the fact that they could watch the girls online while we where in Denver for several days. This place is more expensive than a regular kennel but the price is so well worth the peace of mind while we were away. We will definitely return because we do travel a lot. We will also have our girls return for daycare services just for some much needed play time. Beautiful building. Very clean! Khalessi and Izzy's room was continuously kept clean. I could tell on the video feed that the girls loved the day care. Costs extra but well worth it! Last but not least, the customer service was exceptional!!! My dog gets SUPER giddy when I say: " You're going to Brown Dog Boy". His tail instantly starts wagging like, as I call it "his windshield wiper". The employees are soo super sweet. I can honestly say that I feel completely comfortable leaving my baby at this facility. I take his for his grooming and Sarah, the groomer, is great! She never creases to amaze me and my pup is never stressed to go there. The facility is always clean and it doesn't have that "pet store"/ vet smell that some places do, (ugh)! They offer webcam service should you decide to board your pet which is added peace of mind if your or your pet have separation anxiety. I could go on for pages but I think you get the idea. My senior chocolate lab, Chaco, loves going to daycare. From the moment we turn off of Walnut Bend, he starts barking loudly so that everyone knows he is arriving! I have used BrownDog for several years and am always pleased. The staff is super friendly, knows you and your dog by name, and genuinely seem to love their job. My husband and I not are sure what happens at "doggie school" (what we tell our dog where she is going), but as soon as we ask her in the morning if she wants to go to doggie school, her face lights up, she twirls and runs to her leash!!! She is normally a subdued overweight Labrador and it is worth the price to see her so happy. BDL has helped her be more social and confident. I am beyond thrilled with this place.
