I typically don't like to chat or have convos when I get my hair done as i see it as a "me time" type of day when I come in. Evelyn doesn't force convos and will leave you to have peace and quiet but she engages with you if you want to talk. I've been to many salons before this place and I swear I will never go back to anywhere else.

She is very kind and easy to talk to, even for an introvert. Tonight I went to try to get my botched haircut fixed (from another place) and WOW. The time and attention that she spent on my hair was just phenomenal. All of the staff are so friendly and nice; each time I go I feel like a valued customer. The shampoo was great, and the woman who washed my hair gave a brief neck rub after that felt really nice (in addition to the scalp massage, during). They directed me to Tan for the actual haircut. He listened to what I said, took the photo I showed into consideration, and asked questions along the way. He asked where I part my hair and made sure that the length in front (and back, which was my biggest concern) was to my liking. I LOVE how he cut my hair because it's exactly what I wanted. I almost always get someone who gives me 80-90% of what I wanted, but it always misses the mark somewhere and this was absolutely perfect. The place is laid back and comfortable, friendly and not pretentious or snooty. I will most definitely be back.

I came across Studio 152nd after a quick search and after seeing they were open on my day off (my previous salon hadn't been, so I'd have to either arrive late to work or leave early because of the bridge closure), I wanted to get some more info. Tricia called me back and we were able to get something booked with a wonderful stylist called Julie. Julie was fantastic and gave one of the best and most exfoliating head massages I have ever received. It was worth the price for that alone - and that price is more than reasonable, my friends! The price of having my roots done and getting a quick trim was seriously like HALF of what I had been paying previously. I'm so happy I found this salon and have already booked my next appointment with Julie.

And she's one of the fastest I've gone to. I was a bit nervous about seeing someone new (after moving). Especially since I had let my hair grow for at over 4 months. Every trace of my favored cut (short with long bangs) was gone. I showed her a few photos I found online, and she knew just what to do. I was chatting with a long-time client waiting for Hien to update her perm. Not only is she a fan, I had no idea that her curls weren't due to winning the genetic lottery. I'm a fully grown adult, (so they tell me) but I think that kids probably appreciate her quick, light touch even more. Her next person had to be about 10, and just getting a trim of what I have to say was already a great cut.

My scalp feels inflamed after leaving, but I'm told she needs to scrub that hard to get it all out. *shrug* The eyebrow wax, though, let me TELL you. This lady is the best. All that you want in a wax: not lava hot temperatured wax, quick, and an EXQUISITE shape. She instinctively knows how to bring out the best shape for your eyebrow, and she's literally done is 4 strokes or less. The quickest hands in the West!

Fast forward to a couple hours later and the curls that are supposed to be the most defined around my face and on the top of my head, are almost completely gone not even 24 hours later. Additionally, some of the curls throughout are gone as well. I am disappointed that I spent so much money on something to have the top and face framing pieces flat and the rest wonky. I really hope, if it doesn't damage my hair too much, that someone can fix this for me.
