Wow Mexican mocha! Very sweet, just great flavor. Good service as they filled my own cup. There was a lot of mouth that was team very hot with good chocolate, but it through the flavor a little bit away from what I would hope. I enjoyed it, but ended up not finishing my drink, because maybe the milk was just too hot? I Will go back and play with the order and ingredients to get it just how I like. read more

I come here nearly everyday for my caffeine fix. What Dawson's sort of lacks in super edgy coffee house atmosphere, they make up for tenfold in the quality of their beverages. They have quite the variety of roasts available(I try a new one each time-haven't found a bad one yet!). Their espresso drinks are also absolutely awesome, and the perfect pick me up! They also never over-sweeten their drinks, so that delicious roasty-coffee flavor stays present. Baristas are always super friendly, and well-trained in making drinks. Plus, their barista banter is often entertaining. While it may not be the most modern, hip-looking coffee shop, I'd argue they're one of the best in Boise. They care about their coffee, and that's what's most important to me. Fun tip: If you can't decide on what you want, and like surprises, order a standard drink (americano, latte, mocha etc) and ask for a random flavor. I had coffee twice this past week at Dawson Taylor. I like coffee with some strength, more like a Starbucks, so that help you gage my tastes. If you don't like starbucks, I wouldn't give up on Dawson. Great coffee with plenty of flavor. Nice staff, very accommodating and pleasant to be around. GREAT COFFEE AND PEOPLE - BUT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE MUSIC. I've been going to Dawson's for more than 20 years. I love the location, the coffee, and the people. But one thing I don't like (and I don't think I'm alone in this) is the new music. Before the recent re-model, the musical selection was always diverse -- some old, some new, often enjoyable, and no one seemed to dislike it. Coming here since they re-opened a couple of weeks ago, however, I am hearing the same old "corporate" songs over and over again, every day. Not only that, but the music generally sucks. It's like some marketer's (or computer program's) idea of what some average coffee-shop patron in their 60's might like. PLEASE do something about that. It takes away from the experience. read more

We ate across the street at Wild Root care (highly recommend) and we stopped in to get an iced coffee before we walked the Freak Alley which is just a few feet away. I order an iced chai latte and it was soooo good. My husband ordered an iced caramel macchiato and it was very good as well. The employee who worked there was friendly, young and hip. They also have Idaho Kombucha in the refrigerator. There was also a large tea selection if you want tea. There was much more there but we were in and out pretty quickly. read more

I frequent Dawson's downtown to meet friends and do writing. Here the voices are varied and wonderful. The coffee is good EVERY time, baked goods are awesome and the hot chocolate to die for. I'm no coffee expert but I am a connoisseur of warm people....THEY'RE OVER HERE, PEOPLE! Nice music too. I've met people who are much like myself and polar opposites. I haven't stopped in to Dawson's Downtown in quite a while. My mom and I ducked in to grap a quick cup of joe because we were FREEZING on our walk back to our car after eating breakfast near by. The girls working were very chatty and friendly; however, the service was SLOW. We probably stood there for a good 10 minutes waiting for a peppermint mocha and a mocha with coconut. I was given the choice of whether or not I wanted full coconut flavoring (I said yes) so I will take responsibility for the fact that I didn't LOVE my drink. read more

I was staying with some friends in Boise, and I got one of the Ethiopian roasts for my morning coffee fix. I sample locally roasted beans everywhere I go, and Dawson's beans make an exceptionally good cup of coffee. The drip they serve at the shop is also excellent, but watch out: it's hot enough to melt your face off! read more

One of my favorite pastimes is finding local coffee shops on the weekend. Went into this place on a Saturday morning and the wait wasn't too bad. Ordered an iced vanilla latte for me and a vanilla iced coffee for him. Both drinks were WAY too sweet, and my latte had no coffee flavor, only milk and sickeningly sweet vanilla flavoring. I am not a person who wastes anything, but I sadly ended up throwing the whole thing away. I might give it another chance one day, and ask for it to be less sweet, but only if I'm feeling adventurous. Sorry, I just don't get the hype. read more

I love Dawson's!! Sadly this location is no longer there - it has been replaced by another coffee house. I encourage everyone who is interested in finding real and strong coffees/espressos to try to find a Dawson's around town though. The owner is absolutely great! He is so down to Earth and really wants to make a great impact on the community and in the coffee industry in the Northwest. He has open and free tours/entry into his headquarters and brewing area in Garden City off of Chinden Monday-Friday during regular work hours. This company is so passionate about their coffee and it really shows!! I mean, one of their brewing specialists has been making coffees basically all of his life and I believe he's in his 60's! They have their brewing down to the seconds and make sure they are constantly refining their processes and traveling abroad to find and create the best brews possible. If you want to support local companies - here is a great opportunity! read more

So I was walking down the street and asked a lady where I can get a good cup of coffee. She asked if I wanted a close place or good. I said good and she sent me 5 blocks down to Dawsons. I passed 3 on the way so I was hoping it was good. This place was like an mom and pop coffee shop with people hanging outside talking. It was very big so with the 20-30 people in there it wasn't cramped and the Dirty Chai tea was great. Went there the next morning too. Price was the norm for a cup and the service was great. read more

Went here after asking the bartender at Juniper where they get their coffee because it was so delicious. Bought a pound of their Guatemala and it was like crack. Some of the best coffee I've had. The gentlemen that helped me pick it out was super helpful and they give you a free cup of coffee when you buy their beans. Going back for sure. read more

This is one of my favorite places downtown to hang out. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and lots of fun. I've seen reviews complaining about coffee being too sweet, not sweet enough, etc. I've been there too many times to mention, but I can tell you this - they will work with you to make your coffee just right. I order mine straight up but my husband likes his caramel macchiato made with soy, no whip, with only 3 shots in the largest size but with an extra shot of caramel. They always get it right. It is comfortable, relaxing, laid back, and right on the 8th St. strip, in the heart of everything. Seating inside and outside. Coffee is goooooooood! read more
