First, Dr. Choy performed an eye exam and told me I needed cararact surgery. She referred me to Woolfson Eye Institute where Dr. Cook confirmed her diagnosis. I felt unsure, did some research, and got a second opinion. The second doctor told me I did have a cataract but it was not affecting my vision and I actually did not require surgery. Second, I have a credit balance and asked for a refund (three weeks ago). So far, Lynn, is refusing to process the refund because she "needs to do some research". The whole experience feels dishonest to me; I cannot recommend this practice. read more

Horrible experience!!! Was told if I arrived by 11:15- I would be seen Signed in at 11:09- Two girls at the desk. I said hello but was not acknowledged. There was no customers in the waiting area. Not one. I went to look at frames and after 25 min, I went to the desk and asked if they could review my insurance benefits available. I was given paperwork. I had an urgent work message so I said I will need to answer this and will be right back. In less than a minute I returned. I was told they had to reschedule me because I was over 30 minutes late. I said no, I wasn't that I signed in before 11:15. She said - you didn't do your paperwork. I said -- no one told me I had paperwork to fill out- I have been a client for 12 years. She would not back down even though they had not given me paperwork when I signed in!!! She would not answer why they did not give me paperwork. IF I HAD NOT GONE TO THE FRONT DESK TO I QUIRE ABOUT MY INSURANCE--- I WOULD HAVE NEVER BERN GIVEN PAPERWORK. HAD I BEEN GIVEN PAPERWORK AT 11:09- IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY 11:15. I work and have limited time off. Due to how I was treated, I was not comfortable rescheduling. She would not give me the corporate number, finally gave me and incorrect spelling and incorrect website. There are two brands of frames I wear-- I have found another Dr in the area who carries them and WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! BE AWARE--- THIS IS NOT THE SAME PRACTICE AS WHEN DR BURKE WAS THERE. I recently went to Dr. Choy at Dawson Vision for a problem with my right eye and was diagnosed with a cataract. Dr. Choy was amazingly friendly was thorough beyond belief in my exam. She took image after image and explained in detail what the findings were. She was made follow up appointments for me for surgery on that eye and a visit to a retina specialist for my other eye. I have been a patient at Dawson Vision for years now. After a recent visit, I feel the need to update my review. I recently visited the new facility. It is TRULY amazing! They are the most technologically advanced medical office I have ever seen. I would expect my cardiologist's office to be as advanced, but it is not. At Dawson Vision, you won't need to read magazines as you wait. For the brief time you are waiting, you can view very informative TV screens and interact with tablets in the exam rooms. As I say that, I don't remember waiting nearly as long as I do in most medical offices. Not only are they in a beautiful new building, but they have really pulled out all of the stops. They have added at least one additional optometrist and you seem to speed right through your appointment. I noticed interactive tablets in the exam room and a really cool touch screen TV that the doctor used to show me the exact affected areas of my eyes. This was definitely a first for me! I have seen some reviews on here related to the cost. My insurance must cover more because my out of pocket cost was as low as any other provider if not lower. read more

Today marks the date of my very first pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. Am I super excited?! Very much so! I love this place. This is my official go to place for my future eye care for myself and family. I love "working" with Tony as he guides and advises me on my glasses and what would fit best for my needs. I also really appreciated Erica who worked with me on my eye care insurance and advised me on how much discount I would receive and how much the total would be. I really loved how they respected and involved me in the process of picking my glasses and sun glasses, so that I would be assured on getting the right pair for my son and I! Dawson Vision, Dawsonville, Ga. They may have a pretty new fancy building, but this crooked horrible doctor is out for only one thing ( money). I spent over 1k dollars at their office and they screwed me over bad and basically laughed in my face when I approached them with a problem. I couldn't focus through 2 pair of the 3 pair I purchased the same day, and they laughed in my face and passed the blame on to the manufacturer of the frames. They can build a new fancy building but the building isn't responsible for the lousy customer service . I am putting this text up I hope it helps Warren somebody from getting screwed over like I got screwed over. Within a 15 mile ratio adults in vision there must be at least 10 other eyeglass businesses and I assure you none of them could do me any worse than Dawson Vision did for me. Paid almost $500 for a pair of glasses I never wear because the prescription is so far off. I went back to my old glasses which are better quality and prescription. Don't let the cheap examinations fool you. Update: went back to get the new glasses corrected. Gonna cost me another $150 to get new lenses. So much for customer satisfaction. Will go back to the old ones and hope I can't see anyone from DV walking across a parking lot. Well, evidently others in my neighborhood are having similar issues. They are now being called the Jeckle and Hyde of Dawson county. Oh, and the email that was sent before by DV, was responded to, then nothing. It has now been 3 months and these $500 glass are doing nothing but collecting dust on my shelf. I get new insurance after the new year and will be going to a more reputable eye doctor. Dawson Vision Center Worst experience ever. I had glasses made and the left lense is blurry and I was told to give it 2 weeks and they would not give me an appointment to be rechecked. I was told someone would contact me Monday. Today is Wednesday, no contact. So I go to their office and explained to them I was there because the left lense is blurry and 2 weeks will not fix that. I stated that I had not been contacted yet. The girl that helps you try on glasses and places your order was nothing short of Rude. She said we've been 3 people short. I work in an office and even if we're short handed , things are still taken care of. Then she wants to argue about the prescription again, telling me it's right. I just asked for a refund. She goes to get another worker who tells me she can do that but they use an outside company so it would be mailed to me,so I can leave the glasses. Until I receive my money back I am not leaving the glasses so she tells me they can have the refund sent to their office and I can pick it up and return the glasses. That'll work as long as the amount is correct. Bottom line is I was treated very poorly by the staff. I do not recommend using this practice. Dr Burke and Dr Karla need to train the staff on patient relationships. Yes I deal with patients all day too and #1 rule is you don't argue with them. Concerning Dawson Vision they have a very vivid imagination. I was not asked to leave and I certainly didn't call and ask for their permission to return to their business, the part that doesn't make sense they did not mention about 6 or 7 pair of glasses from them and probably spent well over $2000 in the store. As far as I'm concerned is there gross negligence that they don't know the manufacturer's warranty but yeah they care of the glasses. And as for having the glasses for over a year that's not even close they had my glasses probably 3 months trying to get them straightened out I took the same glasses to a competitor of theirs, the competitor kept my glasses for two weeks and call me very promptly to come pick up my glasses. I have same glasses today that I purchased from them and thanks to their competition the glasses are perfect. I have no reason to beat this business down however I think it's only fair to my friends and the others to know the situation so they don't get caught up in the same fishnet I was in with a business that could care less about the end user. I don't use profanity its not my style what I do use is educated words that was probably over their heads I was told that they were not upset with me over the glasses rather the doctors little girl worked up front I didn't hurt her feelings. It's a rough world out there and if you don't get your feelings hurt that easy you got real problems. I appreciate Yelp because I think their service is awesome it allows you the opportunity to be fair warned or it gives you the good details and helps you find places that will do you right. I would not go back in Dawson vision if they were given glasses away I Drive by like three eye wear businesses and actually it proved to be a blessing in disguise because I have found a wonderful doctor with more than just a tiny store front, the new doctors are so kind and educational towards me I could not even imagine changing doctors again anytime in the near future. Hello, the following is based on my opinion. I see this office rates 2 1/2 stars. Even at that, I think it needs to be lower. I've had several exams there, I wear contacts. Dr Burke did his part and I received the prescription. However, the girls that are supposed to be knowledgeable and trained, are not! When I made the appointment I asked specifically about co-pay on the exam or any of the contact portion exam or fitting. I gave her my insurance info and she said there's no co-pay. When I got there I asked again. The girl went online and checked, again, "no co-pay, the contact fitting (or whatever she called the added contact exam) is covered". So, after the exam the first thing the same girl tell me is "there's a $60 copay" for the contact portion. This is what you can expect if you go there. Young, inexperienced, un-trained, Pink hair, blue hair, acting as if they know what they're doing. They don't!! Avoid the aggravation, go somewhere else. read more

I have used Dawson Vision for several years now. They are always super nice and very knowledgeable about eye health. I have since started bringing both of my children who are 8 and 4. They do wonderful with children and explain what is going to happen during their exams. Of course like with anything if you don't have good insurance everything can be expensive. They have great quality products and are excepted by most insurance companies. Definitely worth a visit! I would recommend to anyone! read more

I called and made sure that they accepted my daughters insurance before making the appointment ,the woman I spoke to told me they did so I made myself and my daughter an appt,when we got there the young lady at the counter who wasn't very friendly told me they do not take our insurance, I wasn't even sure if my daughter needed glasses.so before paying the money out of pocket I asked if she could do the eye chart first to see if the appt was needed and the young woman told me no. Dr. Burke is not very good with numbers or he needs new glasses. Each of the past 3 years, he has told me my contact lens prescription did not change. Only to find out my contact lens order gets rejected....because my prescription has changed. My insurance coverage has not changed, yet we get varying amounts to pay after each visit, with no explanation given other than: that is what is owed. Unfortunately, I have had so many bad experiences with this practice. I went in to get a years supply of contacts and to update my frames and I was treated like garbage. Karla Thomason has the absolute worst bedside manner I've ever received. She told me I had an eye condition that most likely gave me a brain tumor! A BRAIN TUMOR. After seeing a specialist, I found out that the condition I had could be caused by a million different things and a brain tumor was one of the rare possibilities. She terrified me and I was treated awfully. Aside from being treated awfully, they messed up my contact and glasses prescription not once, not twice, but three times. I absolutely do not recommend Dawson Vision to anyone. The only reason I switched to this practice from my original one was because I moved up to dawsonville and the drive to my old practice was just too far. Unfortunately, after using Dawson Vision for several years, I will no longer be a patient. I arrived for my scheduled appointment this afternoon and was told by the young lady behind the desk that "someone tried to call" me to reschedule because Dr. Burke was not in. After verifying they had my correct telephone number on file, I told her that I had not received a call or voicemail from anyone stating that I would need to reschedule. I also let her know that I had taken off work to come in and she informed me that there was no doctor present to see me and that they had found out last week that Dr. Burke would be out of the office. I let her know that I called at the end of last week, so why was I allowed to schedule an appointment with Dr. Burke during a time they knew he would be out of town? And, why was I not called prior to taking off work and driving to Dawsonville for the appointment? She said she wasn't sure who was supposed to call, but someone was supposed to let me know. I told her again that no one called and she could even view my phone, if needed. Had this been the first time my appointment at Dawson Vision was screwed up or if I were not made to wait well past the scheduled time of most of my appointments, I probably would have overlooked this and rescheduled; however, this was not the first time and I do have to wait at every appointment. For those of you who are looking for a practice that values your time, I would recommend that you look elsewhere. read more
