Highway 42 in Coquille - you know that area where all the fuss has been going on about truckers??? Yeah, that fuss that has negatively impacted hundreds of people who had NOTHING to do with the fiasco! THAT ONE! The section that goes around Coquille where the speed limit goes from a quick 55 and two lanes down to one lane and 40 mph. right? ONE Terrain Tamer driver in a white truck (couldn't get the number or exact make since he about ran us off the road) quite literally tried to squeeze us into a lane of oncoming traffic. Going WAY to fast in the 55 zone, there was no way to slow down to 40 that quick - especially not when the intent to be a jerk was so apparent. Just HAD to push us out of the way, forcing us to either speed up (and break the speed law) or slam on brakes to not get plowed. Great. Such a good driver and testament to the hiring skill of whoever employed this idiot. You see I come from a "trucker" family. I used to get told frequently "Don't worry about the truckers - they're the BEST drivers on the entire road!" If only it were true today. I realize it's difficult to find truck drivers. Companies are offering cash incentives, bonuses, and better paying positions to anybody willing to say "I will" I guess. Not sure how these guys get their CDL's to begin with... but mostly how on earth do they KEEP them? Rather than targeting ALL truck drivers - I am choosing to target the companies that do not enforce laws and regulations with their drivers. Koos Trucking and Terrain Tamers are the VERY WORST in Coos County. Consistently bad - speeding, disobeying laws, and being overly RUDE on the road. I'd almost rather contribute to your welfare check than see you keep your jobs. Is anybody in charge at Terrain Tamers?

The utility charges are; $30 for sewer, $12 for water, $10 for cable (website states that is free), and $8 for garbage for a total of $556, plus a separate electric usage charge, and a $495 security deposit. There is free WIFI, but it's sketchy(typical), the bathrooms are older and could be cleaned more often, the showers require a quarter for about 10 minutes, the laundry room is fair, but that's it, no mail delivery here, no clubhouse or community activities. You get a pad and picnic table in each space but they are tight and short, with lots of obscure parking, and an additional car is $50 per month. I hope this is not the future for other parks, hope this helps with your search.

For visitors, I highly recommend requesting spaces 1, 2, or 3. These spacious pull-through spots are perfect for larger rigs and are conveniently located closer to the boat ramp and beaches. As I always suggest, ask Josh for tips on the best fishing spots on the river. He's a great resource for finding hot spots for steelhead, salmon, and bass.

I am disappointed in a couple of things that keep coming up: The showers and bathrooms are not very clean. They seem to get a light cleaning regularly, but not a deep scrub, and the smell of mold/mildew is persistent. ***Owners took off door stops to showers residents used to he8lp air them out, and now it's almost impossible to breath in the showers because the mold/mildew smell is so strong. There is a huge issue with garbage-there isn't enough dumpsters or they don't get picked up often enough, so there is always garbage outside of the dumpster until the host comes and jumps on it to make it compact down enough to fit (OSHA hazard!!) Water is a huge issue in this park, between the owners being upset with how much we use in our spaces to the sprinklers not watering grass but the road we drive in to the fact that drinking the tap water actually gives me heartburn! I am so excited to see this place continue to improve, from what I understand this place used to have a lot of problems but honestly those are the only issues I see! The host did try hard to be on top of all the details, and was always open to hearing what's going on in the park. ***There is no longer any host to the park because of "Covid-19 restrictions" being imposed on businesses. It's all faceless and online to book a stay, and there is an email posted and message phone for contacting the owners for any issues.
