Wow, I was really impressed by the food prepared by this catering business. We had a work event today, and for our lunches we decided to get catering from Day Darmet Catering. The food was delivered before the scheduled lunch time, which was really important since punctuality was an absolute big plus and a must for catering businesses. And the meals were packaged pretty nicely in wide containers, allowing a lot to fit into each one. I got the Soba Noodle Salad topped with Grilled Salmon in Hoisin Sauce, and I absolutely loved it. First of all, there was a total of four compartments on my food container. Two of them were each packed with cold soba noodle salad and a thick fillet of grilled salmon; with a total of two fillets, it was a seriously generous portion of the protein. Not to mention the noodles were absolutely delicious too; they were served on a bed of veggies with a side of dipping sauce for the noodles. The third compartment was full of assorted fresh fruits, which I appreciated. And in the fourth one there were two baguette slices, a mini cookie and a piece of brownie. Overall, it was super satisfying, and I really thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Lots of my coworkers were happy too with the food. read more

This catering company really is a pleasure to work with. They are easy to work with, come up with fun options, and the food itself always gets compliments when I'm having an event where their food is served. I like that I can give them a head count, and a budget, and they come up with options for me. Prices went up on the lunch plate from $7 to $9 (I believe) and the food is basically the same thing every few days not really worth it anymore as the food isn't enough to get me through the rest of the day. Missed the old plates but I moved buildings so its not really an option to grab lunch from here anymore. read more

Such sweet caterers! Day Darmet served us savory and sweet treats with smiles all evening long at Etiquette. The ground beef empanaditas were so good, I couldn't refrain from eating just one! The mini chocolate chip cookies were soft and chewy, and they perfectly satisfied my sweet craving after all the savory appetizers. There was a particular server who was gracious enough to fight off all the voracious Yelpers and made it all the way to the other end of the room to bring us a fresh batch of cookies, as he knew that we kept on missing out by the time they made it across the room. This is a response to the comment by Day Darmet on my review: It's hard to take an apology serious when: - you claim to have no record of our order, but (1) we got an email from DDC prior to our event confirming that the order was ok; (2) right after it happened, DDC apologized saying you had the days mixed up; and (3) if you had no record of our order, why were you calling us the morning of? - we were unable to reach you by phone... and if you didn't reach us when you called, it was because WE WERE BUSY RUNNING AROUND FIXING YOUR MISTAKE. - clearly you guys are having some sort of problem keeping track of orders / quality control because you messed up both our breakfast (forgot juice) and lunch (forgot sushi) orders from the day before. Instead of spending time on yelp trying to do damage control, maybe you should just figure out how to deliver on what you promise. read more

After interviewing multiple caterers, my stepmom chose Day Darmet to cater for my graduation party and I'm she glad they did because everything was perfection. Florence and the team at DD did a magnificent job creating a unique and very personalized international-themed menu. Their attention to every little detail really made the difference. The creative presentation impressed all of our guests and the food was delicious. Some of the hors d'oeuvres included Thai chicken "lollipops" with peanut sauce, blue cheese stuffed medjool dates wrapped in bacon, and the baked brie with berries and walnuts. Our company has ordered from Day Darmet catering many times over the years for in office lunches. They were always timely, tasty, and flexible. Compared to Specialtys and Lemonade, DDC is mid-tier in pricing. Our favorite menu item is the DDC Kebabs, which are very delicious when done as described in the menu. Recently, in the past two times when we ordered the DDC Kebabs, the kebabs came in wraps instead of the usual tortilla bread that is described in the menu. In the most recent order, we did not receive any dressing. In the order before that, the wrapped Salmon sandwich (not kebab) was also missing the onions described in the menu. We emailed about this with no response. We also let the delivery assistants know. Nobody emailed or called us back with any explanation. We will not be able to order from DDC again due to our recent experiences. April 11, 2019 Update: A staff member from Day Darmet Catering called us on April 9. The staff member explained that our email about the mixed up DDC Kebab order was forwarded to her inbox by other staff members, but she was unable to see it because she was away in DC. She apologized a lot and explained that Day Darmet has officially changed the DDC Kebab menu recently from pita bread to wraps, and that the official menu update has been slow. This staff member offered to either 1) credit the most recent order or 2) have our next order be on DDC [for free, I assume]. Never have I felt so moved to yelp a catering company. Know why? Nicest hors d'oeuvre waiter EVAH! Dude, you rock. That's all this review is about. Day Darmet only made two vegetarian options out of all the yummies at the yelp elite event at Etiquette last night. And only one vegan option. Am I gonna get pissy about that? HELLS NO! Because hors d'oeuvre man was a SUPERSTAH! He made sure I had enough of that one item that there was NO WAY I was going to get pissy. Every time he walked out with the duck confit, or the empanadas, and he saw me staring longingly, and hungrily, at the tray, he'd give me an assuring look and a nod, and he'd re-emerge two minutes later with a gigantic tray of delicious red-pepper-hummus-and-garlic-soft-toasty-things. And he'd work his way through the crowd, and he'd come straight to me with the tray. STRAIGHT TO ME. And he'd wait there, until I had popped two or three, or six or seven... This was repeated, several times throughout the course of the evening. He never lost sight of me. It's like Day Darmet made them all just for me. ME! JUST FOR ME! Please note - this review is from the vegetarian perspective. So, if you are not a vegetarian/vegan, ignore this one - its meaningless to you. I'm already braced for a severe lack of UFC. So go ahead, ignore me, its ok, I will survive (cue Gloria). Anyway, there was only one app going around the Yelp Elite event that was vegetarian, (no complaints on that - this wasn't a veg event or anything) but that does mean I have a limited sample to review. Unfortunately, that sample wasn't all that inspiring - roasted red pepper hummus. It wasn't bad, but it was a lot like the little tub you can get of the stuff at TJs. I get the feeling that the veg dish was an add-on since the other dishes seemed a lot more creative. I usually scarf the apps but I didn't bother with a second round this time. Very sad - I don't often take a pass on freebies. The servers were really nice and on top of the game. None were scowling at how hard it was to get through the Yelptastic crowd like I would have been, and all gave a good go at trying to be heard telling folks what was being served. One even told my DH three times and kept smiling the entire time. PS. The meat dishes did look very creative and made with care. I am an avid fan of Kristina R's reviews. They are not only helpful but funny as hell. I needed to find a caterer for my Mother's Memorial Service and I logged onto Yelp for ummm HELP. It was a sign from God. What a coincidence, Day Darmet had a thumbs up from Kristina R. All my communication was with Florence. My Mother enjoyed going to High Tea and Day Darmet offered a perfect menu. I was able to personalize some items and Florence was very accomodating - on short notice as well. Florence and her staff are very prompt, efficient and friendly. They pointed out a miscommunication with the venue's staff and thanks to them, a crisis was averted. I never had to plan an event like this before, nor have to hire a caterer. Day Darment made it very easy and stress free to accomplish. I would hire them again for any other event. The food was plentiful. In addition to their Tea Menu, we had dim sum and egg rolls. Even though the service ran longer than expected, the food was still perfect (egg rolls were not soggy!) We had more guests than we expected, but amazingly enough we had more than enough food. That spoke volumes to me that Day Darmet does not skimp. We even had some sandwiches and fruit left over. This weekend we had Day Darmet Catering cater our daughter's Bat Mitzvah. What can I say...it was a perfect (PERFECT!) catering experience. From setting the initial menu and tweaking the ideas to meeting my daughter's wishes, to the walk thru, answering all my questions and then set up for the event. Chantel is a dynamo! Detailed, adaptable, easy to work with and she brings great energy. She knew exactly what was needed and worked with the onsite Synagogue staff to produce one of the best luncheons ever. Everyone was amazed at the quality of the food and creativity of the menu. We would definitely hire them again. Six Stars!! read more

After reading several Yelp reviews, I ordered from Day Darmet for a birthday get together. I never tasted the food in advance -- I went strictly by the reviews. I decided to order: BBQ ribs, veggie skewers, potatoes gratin, baked beans w/bacon, salad, mini corn muffins. The ribs were excellent -- the meat fell off of the bones, the potato gratin melted in my mouth, the baked beans complemented the meal. I forgot to serve the salad because we were all so excited about the ribs! However, I tried the salad the following day and it was fresh and their balsamic dressing was just right. They will deliver to your location for up to 10 people -- the food will arrive in multiple chafers -- it all looked so professional. Our guests were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food. The cost is very reasonable, especially given that we also had a ton of leftovers! read more

So I went to a Yelp Elite event tonight at Etiquette, and this was the caterer. Lots of food and most of it was great but it was hard to tell what I was eating since it was too loud to ask the servers what they were giving us. It all was nicely presented though and tasted good. I liked everything I had. One comment though: alot of the servers walked by me and ignored me the first few rounds, they didn't serve everyone they just sorta zoned in on a group and offered them food. When I was sitting in the VIP area, (open for the event) two of them looked at me, and turned away. Maybe I had cooties. Maybe they just wanted to go to a more crowded area, where they could unload the food on a group and go back to the kitchen. Either way, I am not holding it against them, they were awesome to provide food for this huge group of Yelpers, as they probably know this a tough crowd to please. read more

Day Darmet Catering catered my baby shower. First and most important, the food was amazing and beautifully laid out -- I'm a huge foodie and always a little apprehensive of catered events. It was impressive and delicious. Second, they planned the layout of the appetizers, drinks, punches (one was spiked!) in corners with sitting/standing tables to give the party good movement. It worked and the party was a huge a hit. I'm already planning a post-baby party (when I can drink the spiked punch) and have Day Darmet cater it. I order from Day Darmet for work and they have been amazing. They have always come at least 15 mins early to set up the tablecloth. They are more casual then other upscale catering places, but also fancy enough to use for recruitment breakfasts, etc. It looks like they make a majority of their pastries. The granola option is a favorite among my group. It comes with a variety of toppings including a big bowl of yogurt. Since I work at a more health conscious location, that option has always been requested. To repeat it again, unlike other catering companies, they provide homemade items and present everything in a professional way. I have recommended them to other colleagues and they have found them to be amazing as well. Consistency is key, and they have always been such. read more

I'm usually thoroughly disappointed by free food at sponsored events. It usually consists of some flavorless meat, dry cracker bites and other non-appetizing appetizers. But at Etiquette last night, I found myself anxiously searching for the trays to get another helping, especially of the dish with the duck and red onion on a cracker, the chicken lollipops, and the little bbq-flavored empanada. The vegetarian dish, some tomato-y cream on a chewy cracker, was the only disappointment of the evening. It needed more of a crunchy texture to balance it out. Overall, I would recommend this caterer to others and if I find out they're catering another event... I'll come hungry. :) read more

I especially was hoping that they would get back to me, based on the incredibly poor review that I had read below. Either the person was a competitor or just full of baloney, because no one blows it that bad in business and no one should degrade anyone the way that woman had. Much to my delight, Florence contacted me right away and we worked on putting a great menu together. We did have a budget and a small kitchen to work with and there were no issues, at all. The food, the promptness, and the servers were fantastic. Absolutely painless. Florence also was able to work into my budget wine glasses that I wasn't expecting to fit in. The people that attended were very impressed and many approached me for their information. I "Gladly" gave all of their contact information out and will call them again for our next event. I have used the services of Day Darmet Catering for my corporate events for the last 4 years. Each time they have created a spectacular menu for our guests, an outstanding bar, and a perfect service experience. Last year we were planning to create a little more interest in our customer appreciation event by making it a "Red Carpet VIP Celebrity" theme and they stepped up to the plate with all the right people, uniforms, drinks, and food items to bring the whole concept home. I have never had an unlimited budget to work with, but these ladies worked with me to get the absolute most out of the money I had. They are professionals and very open to suggestions and they bring a lot of their creativity to the table. When was the last time you went to a wedding and said, "wow, that was a really great meal"? I can say that and more, since I was the bride. Day Darmet Catering was the perfect choice for my big day! Florence was terrific to work with for all of the arrangements and Day was wonderful the day of the wedding. The staff was really great, as well. The food was delicious, and the presentation was amazing. My Mom is still talking about the beautiful appetizer trays. We used Day Darmet Catering for a corporate event of about 75 people. We ordered the Bakers Medley Continental Original, the Executive Pastry Display, and Coffee/Tea Refills throughout the day. Our event ran all day for 2 days. Starting the day off with their little pastries and delicious Italian roast coffee really helped in keeping everyone happy and stimulated. :) Day and her team were wonderful to work with. They were punctual yet flexible and extremely professional. We were working with an unconventional setting for the event (a small performing arts theater) and they managed to display the food and drinks decadently with the serving trays and high quality linens they brought. Even the coffee area had a little ice bucket to keep the orange juice nice and cold. All of the attendees were so pleased and the food was so good! My executive team loved it. I don't know about their catering services, but I recently witnessed this company illegally dumping pallets along the street in SF. Illegal dumping, and the blight that is a result, is a major problem in San Francisco and many other large Bay Area cities. This is an inexcusable practice, and therefore, I don't think anyone should support this company. read more

An Executive Assistant's dream!! Event Planners, EA's...we all know how important it is to find a good catering company. I heard about Day Darmet through another assistant, and I am so glad I did! Her food is fantastic, she is always available, always friendly and incredibly passionate about what she does. Her delivery people are helpful and talented...even when you're just setting up a boring corporate meeting, her people will somehow make sandwiches look exciting. She's flexible if you have to scale down or increase an order last minute and will do just about anything to make things work out for you. The only thing I would warn you about is that Day's servings are on the generous side, meaning you get A LOT of food. You may want to keep this in mind if you have a nervous boss who thinks his budget is under attack when he sees leftovers. If that's the case, you can just scale back your order a bit and all will be fine. read more

I was recommended to Day Darmet Catering by a coworker of mine for a corporate event we were having. I called her pretty last minute with a pretty strict budget and she was completely accommodating. She catered both breakfast and lunch, and the food was delicious. The set-up crew made everything super easy for me and they were able to prepare the spread and clean it up afterwards silently as to not disturb the event. The egg scramblers were wonderful as was the Spanish paella. Only thing would be the coffee wasn't incredibly strong (which is something I personally needed on day 3 of a conference). She also set the table up to look aesthetically pleasing which was made the lunch look even more professional. Day Darmet provided catering for me for 30 people for two days of workshops in the Civic Center area. The food was excellent and more than enough for our group. The quality of the salads, breads, grilled veggies, cheeses, and desserts was excellent, and the group was very satisfied with the meals. My husband and I decided to get married this past summer. After a two year engagement, we decided to tie the knot a month and half before the wedding. We wanted a small, simple intimate nontraditional wedding, and not spend a ton. In my opinion the food makes the party, and I hate that so many weddings have crappy food or boring food and I wanted to make sure that was not going to happen at my wedding, and it didn't, HURRAY!!! My wedding was in an art gallery in the Mission District. The venue was small so it was going to take some creativity to make it work. Day was very accommodating, she met us at the gallery and helped plan the layout and gave us many great ideas.. When we first contacted her, we explained what we were looking for ( southern comfort, family style) and she was right on, actually better. The day of the wedding, Day and her crew arrived promptly and set up, it looked like a dream. The food was amazing, all the guest raved about it all night and said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. it was like music to my ears. I wish Day Darmet opened a Southern Comfort restaurant Overall Day was very helpful, patient, kind and professional, a pleasure to work with.
