I really enjoy this park, it has some nice swimming on the west side and a couple trails that meander through different areas of flora and fauna. The east side has a huge playground and tons of room for kids to run around. It has a boat launch, but I wouldn't put in anything bigger then a cone the river is pretty shallow here. Nice park and boat launch, open daily 7 a.m. - dusk, located along the East Fork of the Lewis River in Battle Ground. There is plenty of parking, a small playground, 12 picnic tables on the park side (there might be a couple more on the boat launch side, I don't recall), a restroom facility and the boat launch. The boat launch is on the opposite side of the road from the park. There is a fair amount of open grassy space to let the kids run around or play frisbee, etc. We didn't see any BBQ grills but they do have a hot coals disposal area if you want to bring your own portable grill. There were several people fishing along the river when we stopped by and saw one family playing in a small sandy area along the river. The river current is quite swift in the section by the park because of some curves in the river, so I wouldn't advise allowing small children to wade in the water here as they could easily be swept away, and because of this I'm not sure if swimming is even allowed (I didn't see mention of it on their website, but don't recall what the local signage said). read more

This is a lovely park to walk your dogs. However my dog and I have experienced what could have been an unfortunate circumstance. We started our walk. My dog was off leash. Right away we saw a couple with their dog off leash. I then put my dog on a leash. They did not. They let their dog walk up to my Siberian Husky and it wasn't 10 seconds before their dog attacked my dog. It was short lived, thankfully. After they commented about my husky which was strange to me. Maybe because they also blamed the husky breed? They were blaming my dog for the attack. I advised them that my dog did not start the fight. The elderly man took his time getting his dog to walk away from us. He made me feel quite unsafe as both of them were a foot away. As they left the elderly woman said it was due to my dog being a male. Not taking one bit of ownership for them creating the problem. I regret not saying anything more. This couple deserved to be reprimanded. I should have said the next time their dog gets close to us I will kick it away. My SIBERIAN HUSKY WHO HAS THE SWEETEST DEMEANOR does not deserve to be attacked. The thing is they were neglectful with their puppy. Honestly, it's a good way for them to lose their puppy. Yes, there are signs for dogs to be on a leash. Most people have common sense. Put your dog on a leash when encountering others and dogs. Strangely enough, this elderly couple did none of that. Common sense missed the boat on them. Their description is on the tall side, slender with grey hair. The dog is tan in color with wrinkles on the face typical of some breeds of which I know not. PLEASE watch out for the couple and don't let them get away with their extremely bad behavior. read more
