    Camp sight!
    Jaxxon S.

Camping was so fun, scenic and beautiful. Well organized. Good mix of actual camping and some amenities (shower room + bathrooms and snack cart open daily, as well as kayak and other rentals.) One parking spot reserved for campers very convenient. I did get a little lost coming Into the campground (ended up in a reserved large campground) but it was just the fault of my directions on the phone, follow signs and you should be good. I stayed with my partner and we are both feminine presenting, we felt safe the whole time. Also shoutout to the snack cart, great service and food.

I love this lake! Went jumbo trout fishing on Thanksgiving. The elevated dock, left side was best for fishing that day. The space isn't great for mushroom foarging since there is a lot of English ivy. The trail around the lake is not always flat but provides a nice little bit of exercise.

Nice stroll in the park, fantastic views of the lake, clean restrooms. Limited parking. Good place for family picnicking.

Beautiful 280 acre state park so close to home! You'll need to buy a Discover Pass for $30 or pay $10/day to park. There is a pay station located at the entrance. They have clean restrooms available throughout the park. This park offers quite a few options...camping, boating, fishing, scuba diving, hiking (10 miles), biking (5 miles), picnicking, swimming and horse trails (5 miles). They have a rental place to rent paddleboards and kayaks. The same shack serves food too! We took the walk around the lake, lower loop, and a few areas of the upper loop. Parts of the upper loop trails are narrow and unkept. We came across quite a few roots, rocks and tree trunks to maneuver around on the lower loop trail. Definitely bring your hiking shoes. I wasn't aware, but Battle Ground Lake is a crater lake of volcanic origin. It's only 60 feet deep; however, it has around 2000 feet thick silt deposits at the bottom, hence the diving recreation permitted. Overall a nice, clean state park. Will definitely be back for a day of recreation. Not sure $10/day is worth it for a 1-2 hour hike though. There are too many (free) hiking options close by.

Stopped by Sunday morning to check out a lake loop trail. There is a decent amount of parking available nearest the lake, and larger lots a short walk away. You can see the start of the trails from there, with bathrooms and paddle board rental available. It appears there are a few layers of loops to try, although we decided on this first visit to take the lowest loop right around the lake. Great shade, beautiful trees, and boulders. This trail is pretty short, but it's a fun little trek. Lots of birds, saw a couple of snakes, and enjoyed the sites of the lake. My only moment of sadness was seeing the occasional can, bottle, and wad of fishing line left behind near the waters edge. Pick up your trash people! Other than that it's a quaint lake and fun short trail. I would love to try some paddle boarding there myself, and try the upper trails. We drove through the camping sites on our way out. Great sites in the trees at one side of the lake, not much privacy at this campground, but a nice setting with some tiny cabins as well. Overall a very nice state park. Bring your Discover Pass.

The dock rocks back and forth quite a bit so keep your small children close!!

Such a great place to visit while on our vacation in the PNW! Parking is $10 and there's a little machine to pay right where you drive in. Love the trail that loops around the lake, it has plenty of benches and amazing views from everywhere!

Late afternoon swim in the lake

Our friends in Washington come through again. We were going to see them for a few days, and camp nearby. The grandma suggested that we go to Battle Ground Lake instead, and the kiddos can swim there. Great call, Grandma, great call. We have an idea of a typical summer camp (think "The Parent Trap" and "Meatballs"). Battle Ground Lake State Park is not that kind of camp, but it sure comes close. The centerpiece is a pretty little lake surrounded by trees. Throw in a small beach, logs that jut into the lake for you to jump off, snack shack, kayaks for rent, playground, baseball field, and picnic area, and you have a summer camp experience. And you *can* camp there. There is a typical campground with all the amenities: paved road, table, fireplace, water, and lots of shade. On the expensive side. There are also 15 primitive sites that you need to walk to, including a significant uphill. Campers who know this bring a wagon to haul their equipment to their site. Two nights sleeping, two afternoons swimming, seeing longtime friends, all at a place that takes you back to Camp Inch or Camp Northstar - yep, Battle Ground Lake does it right.

We came here just for the day and it was great! The campground is lovely (though some of the sites are curved and look hard to get into with an RV) and I hope to camp there soon. We stopped by on a Saturday in July. It took about 40 minutes from Portland. It was quiet when we arrived around 945, but by noon was busy . They have a designated swim area , but it is very small and seems like it would only be fun for very young kids. By afternoon , it was filled with inflatables and floaties . My 12 year old and his friend took a kayak out and found a quiet spot to play. There are a few ropes tied to trees for swinging into the lake . This lake also has great trails, both short and long , appropriate for most activity levels. There are no ADA trails that I saw, but ADA parking near the lake .

So much fun! We brought our own inflatable costco sup boards and paid $7 each for 2 boards to use the launch ramp plus one day use access fee for the car ($10), so $24 total. 1000% worth it to paddle such a pretty flat lake that looks like a much colder alpine lake but is instead very comfortable (60ish degrees on our rainy day) and much closer (45 minute drive from portland). It was super quiet. When we got there, we saw 2 people swimming and about 15 fishermen scattered around the shore and 2 on the water but we only ever heard maybe 3 people total, twice. It was sooooo quiet and peaceful! We even spotted a bald eagle. The lake was so flat and calm and easy. The campground was unbelievable right next to it. We stopped and grabbed $10 orange rectangle basic PFDs and whistles after reading info about boating there on their website, but the reality is, we didn't see anyone who cared or checked anything. There was a sheriff parked in the lot who occasionally drove around, I chatted w him and got some good tips but he said he is not the one who enforces the entrance fee or boating laws and neither was the one girl driving a golf cart who looked like DFW or a Ranger but he said she is just a park aid and not there to enforce that stuff either. Prob would have been fine without the life jackets and whistles. We also didn't have registration bc, duh, paddleboards, or a mussel form or anything (but we hadn't had the boards in other water in a long time). Again, nobody cared, nobody was there to take a fee, we paid a touchscreen machine (there was a fee booth but nobody in it as we arrived later in the day, midweek). There was also a snack shop that closes at 6. The teenager working it knew nothing about the boating rules either and I quickly got the impression that dude, this is a chill place. We had so much fun! It started raining on us and we stayed out there paddling around and loved it. We will absolutely have to return someday.

Great little lake with paddle board and canoe rentals. Also had a decent swim area and campground. Be careful of the poison oak on the trail. And the trail around the water is not stroller friendly. It was t very crowded. People were fishing along the banks. They have nice Picnic tables and a play ground with tire swing. Plus a baseball diamond.

This state park is well maintained and beautiful. The parking is ample and paved. The park offers overnight camping. It has a small lake that you can canoe on and fish from. It has large grassy area to play on. The hiking trail can be completed in 20 minutes around the lake. I didn't see any other hiking trails around it but I was only there for one hour and left before it got dark out. The people there were friendly too. Great family park. Not 5 stars because the bathrooms were locked.

Love this beautiful place. I know the trails like the. Back of my hand. Can't go wrong with a trip to BG Lake.

    Dawn C.

Great park for taking a short hike. Path features a lot of uneven ground as you make your way around the lake climbing and descending close to the waters edge. Clean bathrooms, great picnic area, plenty of room for fishing (including secluded little spots around the main trail.)

The park's 2.8‑mile trail winds through a mix of dense forest and sunlit meadows along the East Fork Lewis River, giving you moments of peaceful reflection and wide-open breathing room. We decided to spend our time taking Halloween photos all over the park. While enjoying ourselves, it was great inspiration. There is something grounding about the tall Douglas firs and the hum of the river nearby. I found a quiet spot on one of the gravel paths, sat down for a bit, and just watched as the river ran. Apparently it's not just a walking park, either..there are places to picnic, horseshoe pits, and even a small boat launch if you want to get out on the water. There are lots of picnic tables and covered shelters too, perfect for a family gathering or a chill afternoon with friends. I heard on warm days, people swim here..though heads up, there are no lifeguards and the river currents can be strong. Parking is simple, though there's a daily fee (around $3 for a car). If you come here often, the annual pass is a pretty good deal. If you're craving a place to get away from the city, stretch your legs, or just be near water and trees, Lewisville Regional Park is the perffffect place. It's peaceful, historic (hello, WPA-era charm), and deeply rooted in nature. See my pictures for yourself hehe

We took the loop trail, about 3 miles around the park, into the forest and along the river. There are multiple large grassy areas, play areas, and courts. The pavilions are superb. They are fully equipped, including a water source and fire pit, and are spread out throughout the acreage. The trail was great as well. The paths are very wide and well maintained, a dog walkers paradise. I was also impressed with the amount of trash cans, no excuse for litter in this park. There was a very small thing that really impressed me, hadn't seen it before...a container near the waters edge to place used fishing line. Would love to see those more often! The ONLY negative experience we had was trying to get in. Neither of the parking pass machines were working well and consistently. It took us about 10 tries to get a ticket. After multiple swipes of the credit card and attempts with some bills, we finally got one. And it wasn't us, we had a long line behind us and multiple people out trying to get them to work. When we left the park we noticed the same traffic jam...they definitely need addressed! As frustrating as the parking machines were, the park made up for it. Fabulous place to spend an afternoon!

The walk in is easy, about a 1‑mile loop with gentle gravel paths, enough shade to feel cool but also patches where sunlight filters through the trees in the most beautiful way. I saw a woman with her stroller here, but had leave it half way through because there is an upward path. When I reached the waterfall, I was struck by how graceful it was, the river cascades over a basalt-rock ledge, wide and steady. One of the most magical things..the park is a front-row seat for steelhead trout leaping upstream. There are picnic tables nearby, so I ended up opening up my book and just reading, listening to the water, hearing frogs, and feeling completely grounded. And honestly sometimes running away from bees! Oh the great outdoors! But a very important heads-up: no swimming allowed. There is a fair amount of open grassy space to let the kids run around or play frisbee, etc. We didn't see any BBQ grills but they do have a hot coals disposal area if you want to bring your own portable grill. There were several people fishing along the river when we stopped by and saw one family playing in a small sandy area along the river. The river current is quite swift in the section by the park because of some curves in the river, so I wouldn't advise allowing small children to wade in the water here as they could easily be swept away, and because of this I'm not sure if swimming is even allowed (I didn't see mention of it on their website, but don't recall what the local signage said).
