This is a truck stop. My wife and I went there for breakfast and I had chicken fried steak. Hey it's a truck stop, all truck stops have good chicken fried steaks. Right? Wrong, wrong, wrong. To put it mildly, it sucked. A little thin piece of meat, I think it was meat anyway, that was cooked to death. It could have been used as a frisbee and should have. My wife had eggs benedict and she said they also sucked. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

We tried to go here the other night we were disappointed it was closed. It is no longer 24hr. But when they are open I have found their steaks are amazing, tender juicy and great flavor. I have been to Daybreakers 3 times now, if you are ok with very rude waitresses and average food this is the place for you! Eggs are never cooked all the way, ask for anything extra and be ready for attitude from the waitresses. They are usually very busy so I figured it was a good place but really it's just because all of the snowbirds. I have learned that pretty much any restaurant in the Foothills caters to the snow birds, so if you are under the age of 55, expect to be treated like crap. read more

Came here because of the good reviews. First I sat down for 15 mins before the waitress came to the table. I ordered the cat fish thinking I couldn't go wrong. Well I was wrong. I ordered it fried. Even bigger mistake. They fried this fish til it was Damn near burned to a crisp. The fish was just all bread and skin. Then I tried the mash potatoes and you can tell it was right out of the box. Stopped in for breakfast with husband. Husband wanted the special which was steak and eggs, waitress talked him into adding a dollar to the $8.95 special and getting the better steak which he did. Steak was nice size and tender! Didn't know if it was worth the extra dollar but hey it's just a buck right...I had the breakfast burrito, it was below average! With so many great places to get burritos I should have known better. I had ice water, husband had coffee and the bill came to $20.00. By the time you tip we left thinking to ourselves that was a lot of money for a so so meal. My wife and I just got back from our last breakfast at Daybreakers Café. My wife had a ham steak with her breakfast. It was soooo salty that it left sores in her mouth. I tried it also and had the same result. We complained to the manager and were told that no one else had complained so we would still have to pay for the item. We recommended that someone needed to taste it. We informed the manager that this would be the last time that we would be eating there so she gave us a buy one get one coupon. Good, friendly service. Large selection on the menu. Old-fashioned decor but clean. Stopped in for breakfast at midnight a couple of days ago and our waiter was great. The food was not lacking in any way despite the hour. Had fantastic classic country music playing, too. Will definitely stop in again. I must admit that I've been passing by this place for years. I finally decided to try it out to see why it was so busy all the time and I think I found out why. No matter how busy they have been, we have always managed to get fast and friendly service. My two favorite things on the menu and the only things I order every time I go are the Sweet Potato Pancakes and the Eggs Benedict. They are reasonably priced and the portions are good sized. We stopped here on our way to Tucson from San Diego. We saw the great reviews and decided to try it. The food is really really good. I would NOT recommend going on a Sunday morning/early afternoon. All the snowbirds go there right after church and it takes forever to get a table. Once you get seated (30-45 later) they're very attentive the service is good. Once the snowbirds head back north it's probably way better :) read more

Came here on recommendation of our hotel, and it was very good. Very diverse menu, including all day breakfast. Best deal on menu was probably the 8oz. NY Strip Steak for $9.95, included potato choice, veggies, roll plus soup or salad. The steak was well seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. Veggies were the frozen mixed variety so I left them. The spaghetti and meatballs weren't as successful....pasta not drained well, lots of water on plate. Hard to explain their "hearty Marinara, it was very thick and flavorless. We ate in the large bar area as it had a better atmosphere and more people. Server had a hard time understanding us when we ordered 3 courses and asked that we complete one course before the next one was served. We got our appetizer and she immediately brought the salads! We asked her again to please wait before serving the entrees. So we got to wait almost 30 min. Before we saw her again with out food! Way too long. We would go back. Breakfast is great and good portion size. Homemade spicy breakfast sausage is a must to try and not labeled on the menu. Summers have a small town feel with no wait. Winter rush starts in October and on weekends is predominate in the morning. Mimosas are strong and competitively priced. Overall great place. read more

I stopped here on my way back to San Diego, and I couldn't have been more satisfied with opting to take a break from driving to choose a sit down diner over fast food. Even though I'm biased towards diners because we just don't have enough in San Diego, it was the amazing service that I received that enthused me enough to write a review. Front of the house was very nice and sat us almost immediately, and our server Tamy was the most adorably sweet and accommodating person that I've had the pleasure to meet. I'm vegan and its usually hard to find many vegan options on a menu. Tamy was patient and took time to answer all of my annoying vegan questions. Oh, and did I mention there's a bar??! read more

Order the meatloaf -- waitress said was really good -- homemade --- guess she hasn't not tried it yet--- also the potatoes were awful - gravy cold -- had carrots but they were just carrots no butter. I used to enjoy this place. Today I came in and read my entire magazine before they brought me my simple burger and fries. The waitress dropped my plate and before it stopped sliding she had turned and gone. By the time I got her attention and requested mustard and she remembered to bring it, the food was cold. I went to the cafe because there was sufficient truck parking for my semi. I ordered a steak (rare) with a baked potato. The steak arrived at nearly room temperature and was tough enough to join the Marines. There was plenty of gristle to get caught between my teeth. The waitress disappeared and we had to get refills from the busboys. My wife ordered a hot pastrami with a beer. The sandwich was greasy and I had to go to the bar myself for a refill on the beer. I have been to this cafe before, and have always been impressed with the food and the service. They use real butter and their ranch dressing its always fresh. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Tues night. It is comfortable and nice inside. The staff was friendly, quick and very responsive. I had the NY Sirloin dinner with a baked potato and veggies. The steak and potato tasted great while the veggies tasted like out of a can. My waitress filled my Ice Tea multiple times and dinner salad was tasty. Food is okay. Very busy due to all of the Yuma snowbirds. We seemed to be invisible for the first 15 minutes after being seated. Server finally brought menu and waters then proceeded to tell us that she would be back in a minute every time she race walked by us for the next 20 minutes.
