FRIENDLY! Seriously the nicest man behind the counter. I am a fan of maple doughnuts. Let me restate that...I am only going to use the calories on a doughnut that is maple. Walked in, no maple doughnut and he offered to take an old fashioned cake and dip it for me. WIN! Let's say that it was WELL worth the calories and it was too big to finish (at least for me) and really glad I walked in the door to get coffee. Oh yes...that was the thing I had been searching for. Had a morning business meeting and needed to bring donuts. The front office staff at my hotel recommended Daylight Donuts over a big chain, and boy am I glad they did! The donuts looked so good I ended up getting three for myself, as well as a breakfast burrito that was also very good. My coworker had a breakfast sandwich that he said was equally good. In addition to the 18 donuts I ordered, they threw in some donut holes for free! Great service, probably the best donuts I've ever had. Next time you have a hankerin' for a donut, skip the chain (here's looking at you KK and DD) and getcha a Daylight. You won't regret it. read more

I like to support small locally-owned businesses especially when their product is delicious. The Hawaiian Delight is one of the best breakfast desserts around. They also have breakfast croissant sandwiches, great coffee, a drive-thru and a super friendly staff. For large orders I have come to appreciate when they sometimes throw in extra donut holes. Used to be awesome, now not so much. More like two day old doughnuts. Must be under new management, because these doughnuts are stale and not fresh at all. Sad, used to go here often, just got back in town and thought i would stop by. An older man was at the window, not the Asian people who used to run it. Seemed annoyed i drove up through the window. These doughnuts taste like they are two days old, not fresh and very heavy on the cinnamon. So much so they are not enjoyable. I won't be back. Was randomly in Johnson City for work-related stuff, and got a hankerin' for some bubble tea. I was a little skeptical of finding any, but a few places popped up, including Daylight Donughts. I made my way over, thinking to knockout my sweets cravings in one go. The place was empty when I arrived, and so was the large display case - all except for some apple fritters. While disappointed I couldn't sink my teeth into a donut, I took it as a good sign that the donuts are worth it, and will make this place my first stop should I ever return to J-City. I did get to indulge in some bubble tea - there isn't a large selection of flavors, but they had the classics. I initially wanted to go for a Piña Colada, but I always ask the store owners or (whoever is helping me) their opinion, and the nice lady was honest in hers - while that flavor was a hot seller, it wasn't necessarily her favorite. She did praise my choice to go with the green tea, and I have to admit it was well made. Sweet, but not overly so; and, the boba was fresh, which is IMPERATIVE. Daylight Donughts seems like a good spot, and a nice departure from the chains. Hopefully if I get back next time, it's early enough to get some donuts! read more

Stopped in to check out this cute little donut shop. We were greeted with extremely friendly service from the lady behind the counter (I think she's the owner). She gave my children free donut samples and was very patient with them to decide on what they want. The donuts are out of this world amazing and made fresh daily. She even fills them while you wait with the filling of your choice. We also tried a green bubble tea for the first time and it was delicious. Stop in and check it out! Get a chocolate covered Bismarck with white cream filling. OMG good! read more

My husband and I went in on a whim after leaving Earthfare and we will be returning! The man and woman behind the counter were so nice and very personable. We ordered 2 dozen donuts to take to relatives we were visiting. It was either this or Krispy Kreme so we thought we would try Daylight donuts. The owner explained how he and the baker come in at 3 am to make the donuts. They had a wide variety of donuts and even filled the donut with the cream you request. I ate a red velvet donut with cream cheese which was delicious. Coffee was nothing fancy, but it was rather tasty! read more

Daylight Donuts is one of my must visit places every time I return back to TN. No other place can compare to their blueberry donuts. Whenever I'm craving one and I think the grocery store or Krispy Kreme version will cut it, I'm terribly disappointed. They also have the sweetest, most delicious white cream for their long johns. Seasonally they have pumpkin muffins which are to die for; I love JC in the fall for this among other reasons. :) The apple and spice donuts and old fashion cakes are the bomb too. I've never gone here and not had incredibly friendly staff, and they're open until 7 pm if you aren't into the breakfast donut. read more

I love love love this bakery. I love the people who run the place as well as the huge variety of pastries they serve. A doughnut with icing and cereal on top? What's not to love?! But my absolute favorite is the Hawaiian roll...like Heaven in my mouth. Sometimes I want to try one of the huge cinnamon rolls or apple fritters, but if I'm going to binge on one of their ginormous pastries, I can't help but grab the Hawaiian one. Another plus: they are ridiculously cheap here. I don't know how they price less than the bigger chains like Dunkin and KK, but they do. (They usually toss in some free donut holes as well!) Went here for the bubble tea, which was the most amazing that I have ever had. The owner said that her sister owns a bubble tea store in Cambodia so she has had a lot of practice making them but honestly this woman is a god!! The prices here are so awesome and I honestly believe that if more people knew about this place it could put Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme out of business. You feel welcome the entire time you are there and the prices are so good that I went in for bubble tea and left with that plus 5 donuts. Looking forward to my next visit. These are the best donuts period. Better than either KK or Dunkin, they dont even compare in taste and freshness. Nothing like walking in and they make you a custom strawberry covered, strawberry filled bismark. Try a bits and pieces bag for $1 to sample some of the other flavors. For those that dont like filled donuts, try the old fashioned cake donut (superb) and you better try the pumkin if they have them. For those that love filled donuts, choose the filling and the topping. read more
