Didn't realize had to request toasted till after we sat down and heard another cashier ask a customer if they would like theirs toasted. My wife went to the counter and asked the guy with wavey red hair and glasses if we could have ours toasted. He rolled his eyes and walked off without a word. Completely disrespectful - Bacon egg and cheese delivered, bagel was moist, guess they steam them and I'm not sure the bacon bits mixed with the egg were even cooked - completely inedible - boo on your employee, complete jack*** , he made it known we couldn't even send back our order. Waste of time and 20 buck as neither of us were able to eat. read more

Every time I visit Johnson City, TN we get muffins (white chocolate raspberry and chocolate) and bagels (everything, poppyseed, onion). I grew up in upper New York and can honestly say these are authentic and delicious. They always have plenty of items to choose from regardless of the time of day. We will return again! read more

Found another great place for hot lattes. They have a variety of flavorings to add (free) to either coffee, latte, or other drinks. Very nice. Huge selection of freshly made bagels. They even have my favorite flavor, French Toast bagel. Can not wait to come back and try their bagels. Only stopped in for a hot latte on the way to work on a Friday morning. Walk up to the counter and place your order. Friendly cashier walked me through their coffee menu and took my order. Take a look at their beverage station with all the syrups for your use. 2 words - FREAKIN AWESOME! Family of 4 driving thru on vacation and needed a quick bite to go. 'Bagels near me' had few hits, mostly usual fast food joints but we like to support locals when we can. Mr. Wheeler was running the shop, with his dad holding pleasant chats with the customers as food was made. Super friendly, very clean, larger than average variety and great how-to by the owner on many of the specialties. Extra care and effort put into everything, even using frozen coffee ice cubes for the iced coffee so it doesn't get watered down. All the bagels were great, and each of us got a giant delicious muffin for later in the trip. A gem in the tri-city area, highly recommend! read more

The bagels are very good, they could pass for a NY bagel. The egg sandwiches are a little different. They don't use the same sausage as we do in NY and they put scrambled eggs on it if you don't say fried. I'll try a bacon egg and cheese next time. read more

Over the course of the last two years the bagels have gone downhill. When we first moved here we were excited because it was close by and the breakfast sandwich's we had there were really good. When we started getting bagels they were really great but over the last 18 months their bagels have become inconsistently poor. Too fat, not cooked well etc. the muffins are amazing and those have always stayed delish!! read more

Great find for bagels in this city! Bagels are made fresh and are of generous serving. As it was a Sunday morning, the shop was well staffed and fulfilled orders quickly accommodating the amount of customers there. During my visit, I ordered SAC sandwich, a bagel with plain CC and a bagel with veggie CC. However, when I returned to my family with our breakfast, the bagel that was label "plain cc" was actually the veggie (although, by the looks of it, no one could tell the difference) after tasting it. The unlabeled bagel looked like plain cc but it still had the flavor of veggie. Because one family member is picky about wanting the flavor of only plain CC, we wasted a perfectly good bagel. I would hope that utensils for the variety of spreads are not being cross-contaminated; that would be unfortunate for those who have sensitivity to flavor. read more

I doubt you'll find a better bagel for miles. It's no NY or NJ bagel, but for an early morning road trip stop, it more than did the job. My ham, egg, and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel lasted me a solid 3 hours - it was solidly packed and tasted good. Half was eaten while pulling away, half was eaten later on in the drive. There were plenty of other bagel choices, and the dark roast coffee gave me the jolt I needed for the next 11 hours of driving. For what it's worth, the guy at the counter wasn't wearing a mask, though everyone else I could see was. We were here in March, and were vaccinated at that point, so whatever...but the other reviewers are probably right. Kind of a moot point at the moment, but notable nonetheless. read more

1. Food: Coffee and bagels (alone) are delicious. Breakfast sandwiches: not so much. Very dry, microwaved eggs, which don't do the bagels justice. The hash browns were also dry and undercooked, but with small charred spots. Not sure how they pulled that off. 2. Service: One of the food preparers called my hubby a smart ass. That alone would be fine if she had done it where we couldn't hear her. The owner "apologized" by saying noise travels very easily from behind the counter to dining area. So odd. read more

This place deserves more then 5 stars for the owner alone. The kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back..we talked about random things the whole time I was waiting for my food. Located in a strip mall behind Fudrucker's, it's easy to find. You need to turn at the light, then into the parking lot. There is handicapped parking in front of the adjacent store. The rest of the spaces are either across a traffic lane, or you will need to go up some stairs to get to the door. The ordering counter is at the rear of the seating area, with the menu on a board behind the counter. There is a good variety of cold and hot sandwiches, as well as breakfast choices. The descriptions are good so you know what you're getting. Seating is a combination of tables and smaller tall tables. The Reuben (I chose the everything bagel) was really good. The bagel is soft but holds together for the entire time it takes to eat. The meat, cheese, and sauerkraut is abundant. The Thousand Island dressing comes on the side. That's probably because it would ooze all over the place while eating. Little touches like this make for a better dining experience. The salmon and cream cheese on a sesame bagel was also very good. The bagel was soft and fresh. The salmon was plentiful. Wheeler's shows what good bagels taste like, and sets the standard for the area. read more

I absolutely love their bagels. They will give you a little too much cream cheese but I would definitely prefer that over not enough. The strawberry bagels are absolutely amazing. I always feel the bagel i'm receiving tastes the same and i'm just as satisfied as usual. The store isn't commonly swept or wiped down. I'd recommend getting the food to go or just eating outside. Everytime I come in the first thing I notice is the mess on the floor. But if you can ignore that the food is worth it! read more

Great great bagels. I had a bagel with lox with all the trimmings and my husband had blue berry bagels. The coffee was good and the staff was very friendly. The owner was there in a tie dye shirt talking to customers. He seemed very well liked. Totally recommend this place! The food was fresh. Pretty delicious bagel! Got the asiago with chicken, egg, Swiss, mushroom and spinach. Was very filling and hearty on a cold winter morning. The iced Jamaican coffee was amazing, and they have a whole array of serve-it-yourself flavored syrups Only thing that wasn't terribly impressive was the hash browns. They were small cakes that look like they were frozen and cooked (not bad by any means, but not great; maybe a little salt or melted cheese). It's unfortunate that it's been a while since my visit here, as I took a few good pics but can't seem to find those photos now. Our first visit was exceptional. Staff was super friendly and eager to help us newbies out. I lived in upstate NY for roughly 16 years. During my time there, I have eaten so many bagels done 100 different ways I can't even imagine to count the varieties I've had. This little place brought back lots of memories... very well done selections, bagels done totally right!!! Bagels aren't something I crave anymore... since as I've hinted earlier in my review.... I've had lots of them and quite frankly I am bagel-ed out. With that being said, Wheelers wholeheartedly is deserving of my 5 stars.
