We used to have Perkins in central Ohio. I thought I remembered seeing them, but not sure if they're here at all anymore. I was on my way back from the Saturday stages in Newport for the Overmountain Rally Tennessee and being that it was after 10pm, basically my options were fast food or nothing. I was facing a lot of 'closes soon' on the restaurant lookup but saw Perkins was open until midnight. Dead tired, I pulled in about 11, chatted with the equally tired waitress about suggestions, and decided on a Belgian waffle, eggs over medium, bacon, and a pair of strawberry cream fried roll things I forget what they called them. The place was pretty empty that late at night, with only a few tables taken up. It was well lit and mercifully quiet. Everything showed up in about 5 minutes. The waffle was great, the syrup didn't taste fake, there was just enough butter, eggs were exactly as I asked, and the bacon was likewise as crispy as I wanted. Maybe I was starving, since I don't eat much when I'm on the stage for the whole day, but either way it was really good. The strawberry cream things, I only ate half of one. It was a better version of the ones they have at McDonald's. The only thing taking a star from this is that I couldn't get one strawberry and one apple. Started my morning off with one of my favorite breakfast place. What's great about this place is not only the food but the friendly staff, as soon as you get in the door your greeted with a smile. The restaurant is super clean and organized, the bakery is also super fresh and full of variety desserts for all taste. Today I ordered a breakfast platter and made it my own, two fried eggs, crispy hash (delicious ) and some links. Everything tasted fresh and most important cooked the way I want it. I couldn't go without ordering a muffin they are to die for, my favorite is the Apple cinnamon. Ask for them to warm it up with some butter. Initially we waited about 10 minutes before our server showed up. She stated she was washing dishes. I would think waiting on customers should be first. She asked what we wanted to drink and I stated that we were ready to place our order. She abruptly stated drinks first. Okay, not a problem. Then, it took a while to get the food, and they were not that busy. I had turkey/dressing/mashed potatoes/broccoli. The potatoes first, were not real like they use to be, and second cold. Yes, I could have sent them back but why would cold food be delivered. As well, the stuffing was cold. Hubby ordered the steak/peppers and stated his was not that warm either. In zooming by we got asked if everything was okay but I'm not sure we would have had time to answer. So, yes, I could have said something but no, I did not because I shouldn't have to wait for my food to be taken and reheated so I could eat it. This is probably our last Perkins visit. Perkins saved the day when we were road tripping and got tired ... it was late and we were hungry and essentially in the middle of nowhere with nothing open. I know - it sounds like the plot opening of a horror story and trust me when I say it felt like it for a second! When in doubt order two burgers with all the fixings. That we did. When you pull up it appears that it's going to be a long wait because of the number of cars in the parking lot. But that was not the case at all. Our party of 4 was seated immediately. Our waitress came by quickly. She was friendly and helpful. We all ordered coffee and she brought the coffee and each of us a glass of ice water. The only problem with the meal was the coffee. It was really weak. I would guess that someone had double brewed the grounds. We should of ask for a new pot but we were so busy chatting that we just kept drinking it. Our food came out pretty quickly. It was quite good breakfast food. It's PERKINS !!!! Breakfast is their specialty. I think we all cleaned our plates. If we are in this area again (we will be) we will stop by again for a great meal. Next time we will ask for a better cup of coffee. The coffee is actually quite pricey. read more

I had to ask for the table to be wiped down as it was sticky, I had to wipe off my silverware with a napkin, and with my combo platter I got, everything was OK except my biscuits and gravy. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a claw machine and a friendly waiter. We had one sick member of our party, #Max, and we ordered him some toast. When the toast came out it had butter, however our friendly hostess graciously de-buttered for him. The skrimps were tasty as well as the buttered bread. This is probably the WORST place to dine in this area. I visited with my great aunt and mom when I was staying here over the Labor Day holiday. We had to wait in line behind some of the largest people I have ever seen. I thought this would be a good sign, but it wasn't. We were seated and our waitress just came, got out our drinks & left! She came back about 10 minutes later, as we were forced to listen to very VERY unruly kids and their absentee parents. There is nothing really good on this menu. I'm a vegan and it was very very hard to find something that I could actually EAT. I ended up ordering the spinach ( disgustingly flavored with margarine or something) a baked potato that looked to be about 5 years old , and a tomato soup that I had to send back it was so disgusting. Even my great-aunt said the turkey stuffing was terrible- and she likes everything! We go to pay for dinner and the cashier is spaced out, PICKING HER TEETH. By now , I'm totally grossed out, so I wait for my mom & great aunt to use the bathroom. Here come those wild, loud kids and passive parents. They proceed to run their toy cars into my feet, I get up to ask the parents what the hell, and they just laugh, so I walk out. This is the place to go if there is no where else available, you love hearing screaming kids, loud rednecks, and fat rude people.
