Pros: -1 My slot was originally at 8:30a, but with days notice I needed to start earlier, and they were able to move it up to 8am. 2- Each individual I spoke to on the phone when setting up the appointment seemed patient, was helpful, and never came off pushy like movers can (at times). 3- The 3 guys sent were overall respectful. The lead seemed to have his stuff together and knew what he was doing, the other two (who he said were newer) weren't as efficient, but again respectful. Cons: 1- Service was from 8a-11a for the equivalent of a studio. 2- They came 15mins late, the commute between the two locations should have been 15mins but ended up being 30 because they had to stop for gas. Unfortunately when they arrived a garbage truck was now blocking the loading dock so that added another 10mins, and another 5-10mins was lost because toward the end of the job I went to my car and when I returned the lead mover was just standing outside the unit because "the door was locked", which it wasn't. He just didn't use his muscle to push open. So in all, over 45mins of wasted time, which costed me. 3- When I questioned their timing, I was told it's because I had a lot of boxes. To be fair, I did, but they were mainly smaller boxes (like for shipping). If anything i think they dragged their feet to milk the time which is very unscrupulous. 4- Their failure to used a door stopper in the beginning resulted in the unit door being scratched, which one guy tried to convince me was there before . FALSE! Anyway, the damage was shared with CMM, but there was never follow-up. Ultimately, maintenance repainted it. 5- Despite boxes being labeled for the rooms they belonged in, they paid little attention. For example those for kitchen in bedroom. 6- I ended up having to help move the dresser since it wasn't placed where I requested. By the time it was realized 2/3 of guys were at the truck and lead asked if I could help. Since I was paying for the service I would have rather not, but it was easier than having to do it alone later. Perhaps I should send them an invoice. 7- Before they took off, I wanted to just to take a peak at the back of the truck to ensure nothing was left behind. The reception to that request was odd. I mean whats the big deal?! Ultimately I went and ensured. 8- In all the delays costed me and I paid about $300-$400 more than anticipated. Funny thing is the lead kept stressing the whole gratuity thing at the end. I gave them each $20 and the look I got seemed like it wasn't enough. It instantly left me wishing I had given ZERO. My last thing which is more of a suggestion, CMM should consider investing in tees or some branded merch for their staff. Having guys show up in sneaker, crocs, and street clothes really didn't provide a professional look which yes, is possible for movers.

Wow!!! I can't say enough GOOD things about this service!!…read more I had a really bad situation where other movers I had hired got into a fistfight inside my moving trailer and had to be removed from my property! I was left with a job that was only a quarter done and I had to be out of my house that day for a closing! I was desperate! I called around and, as expected, no moving company could help me out and such short notice! I finally called Daymakers and Lisa, who answered the phone, was so sympathetic to my situation; she said she would try to figure it out for me. After about 20 minutes, Lisa called me back and said that 2 of her movers were finishing another job and were supposed to be done for the day but they agreed to come out and help me out of my situation! Unbelieveable! I was so elated and relieved! Two super nice young guys, named Jacob & Shane, showed up in a beautiful, very professional Daymakers moving truck. They were so helpful and courteous! They did everything I needed done so quickly and efficiently! They took the time to wrap all my furniture and were so careful. They could move and do anything...like superheroes!! And they were...They made my day. I guess that's why the call themselves "Daymakers." Lisa called me back the next day to make certain all went well and that I was happy. They really care. Great company...SUPER. I truly recommend them 100%!!! I would never use anyone else again. I wish I had called them to begin with!

Only needed 2 guys (1 veteran and 1 newbie) and zero issues. They arrive when they say they will, give you a heads-up when they're on their way. The crews are always friendly. Book them!

I'm writing to share my experience with this moving company in hopes of helping others avoid the…read moresame situation. My move from La Crosse, Wisconsin to Woodbury, Minnesota should have been a relatively straightforward studio apartment move -- no beds, no appliances, no large furniture. Just boxes, books, a small couch, and a coffee table. What I ended up with was one of the most frustrating and disappointing service experiences I've encountered -- marked by poor communication, hidden charges, concerning employee behavior, and zero accountability from management. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 AM. We received no communication until 10:30 AM, and they didn't show up until 10:50. Work didn't begin until about 11:10. Yet at the end of the job, they claimed they arrived at 10:30 and billed us accordingly. Despite the clear discrepancy, no time adjustments were made. To make matters worse, the movers took an extended stop at Kwik trip during the move -- over 20 minutes -- which they also charged as part of their service time. That stop, along with bathroom breaks and idle time, were fully billed as if they were actively moving items. Before the move, I received a written estimate of 2 to 4 hours of service. What wasn't clearly explained was that this "service time" included the entire 2.5-hour drive from La Crosse to the Twin Cities -- leaving only 45 minutes for loading and 45 minutes for unloading. That is completely unrealistic. I was quoted approximately $2,000, which aligned with their original $1,800-$2,300 estimate, and I signed off on that in good faith. But at the end of the move, I was stunned to receive a final bill of $3,150 -- well above the quoted range and over $1,000 more than what I was told to expect. When I asked how the charges had escalated so much, I was told, "This happens all the time." The movers blamed the company's estimators, saying they never ask the right questions and regularly misquote the scale of the job. They even gave examples of jobs where people claimed to have four rooms of items but actually had a full house, requiring multiple trucks and additional days of labor. From their perspective, this disconnect is standard -- and it's customers who pay the price for that broken process. Beyond the billing issues, the conduct of one of the movers was extremely concerning. He was visibly angry throughout the move, often disengaged, throwing boxes, slamming equipment, and taking frequent phone calls. At one point he asked to use our restroom and took a 15-minute break. He wasn't consistently moving items, and his energy was tense and off-putting. At one point, I asked, "Are you okay?" and his answer was: "I hate my job. I have to do this all the time to people. They never have a good experience. We get no support. We're the ones stuck disappointing customers all day. I want to find something else." That behavior made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. His frustration was clearly real, but it should never spill over into a customer's experience. The second mover was much more composed and professional -- doing his best to move things forward -- but it was obvious he was also caught in the tension of a job that had gone off track. When I asked to speak with a manager, the movers called two people. One finally called back -- but refused to speak with me directly and only communicated through the movers. I was told someone would follow up on Monday. Mangers at this location must not work on weekends? Very concerning with, I'm guessing, most moves are completed during the weekend. Why wouldn't you want to discuss with me this process in the moment? Again leaving a hard job to your movers even harder when not given support. I'm sharing this not out of bitterness, but to give a clear and honest account of what happened. The lack of transparency around pricing, the miscommunication between departments, and the emotional volatility from one of the movers created an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Moving is already stressful -- what you don't need is an inflated final bill, unsafe energy in your home, and a company that ghosts you once you've paid. If the company is willing to reach out and resolve this, I'm open to that. But more than anything, I want others to know what to expect. Based on what I witnessed and what the movers themselves shared, this is not a one-time issue. It's a systemic problem. And that's exactly why it needs to be shared.

I do not recommend companies easily, but this company goes above and beyond. I just moved from MN to MA, and called Brent. He responded with a quick - "we can do it - let me find a driver" Jim, the Director of Ops did the drive. He is where I say they go above and beyond... On Monday, Jim and the crew had the house emptied in no time and loaded. We did a walk through, and coordinated our schedules. He then told me his itinerary and that he would text me each night. I was leaving Tuesday Morning and we both planned on being in MA on Wednesday evening. It went seamless. I heard from Jim each night, and again Thursday morning as he was headed to the new home with my furniture and goods. Like the loading of the truck, the unloading went just as smooth. In the end, not even a glass was cracked, everything was put where I wanted it, Jim was communicating the whole time, and the final price was within the quote. The company is great to work with, the employees are even better. Thanks for your service over the years GSM.

Nasty estimator-…read more Just got off the phone with this company, and I am stunned at the outright disrespect I encountered. From the moment I asked a question, the representative snapped into a rude, condescending tone as if I dared inconvenience him by simply existing. Honestly, with an attitude like his, he could only be a third-party estimator--because he certainly lacked any professionalism or basic customer service skills. When I pointed out that their pricing was double that of other quotes, he had the audacity to laugh and snidely remark, "Well, if you want your stuff damaged, go with them." That kind of arrogance is not only insulting but completely unjustified. Lower pricing does not automatically mean incompetence or damage. Let's be clear: I explained, in the simplest of terms, that it was just one hour of moving. But no, their inflated minimum is two guys for two hours--$550 for a single hour's work! At that price, I might as well keep them around for an extra hour to scrub my truck and clean the bathroom so they could at least pretend to earn their outrageous fee. And then came the pièce de résistance: the smug boast of "26 years in business." Frankly, if this kind of treatment is their standard, those 26 years are 26 too many. Based on the fabricated-looking reviews plastered across other platforms, it's clear they've been relying on fluff and deception instead of real customer satisfaction. This isn't a business--it's a scam with a phone number. They don't deserve your time, your money, or your patience. Avoid them like the plague.

Simply Self Storage had great pricing online and was giving a 'first month free' discount. We ended up renting a 10x10 space for about 5 months and were very pleased. Access was easy, but secure. No, there isn't 24x7 gate access, but I didn't have a reason ever to be there between 10p and 6a. I never felt that I or my belongings were unsafe. It is busier here on weekends, but if you come earlier or later in the day, there usually isn't much congestion. They do have some carts onsite, so you don't necessarily have to bring your own. If you need service, you can always stop by during the office hours and someone was available to help.
