The only thing going for it was the staff tried to be helpful. breakfast was some fruit and coffee. poor water pressure, stains in toilet, one lamp, one broken down chair, very few outlets, tiny refrigerator, small microwave, really loud air conditioner (interference with sleeping). they had a sign saying that renovations were coming including vending machines for all breakfast items. read more

On a Memorial weekend trip from the west coast to Oberlin, Ohio, for our son's graduation, we stayed at the Days Inn in Amherst, Ohio. I had left it too late to find a room closer when I reserved several weeks earlier. This was the worst hotel/motel my wife and I have ever stayed in. The only reason we stayed was that at least the sheets were clean and there was no other accommodation available. The place was extremely shabby and dirty. The entry to the second building we were in looked like a child had been asked to paint the door and walls in the entry, hallway and stairwell. The entry door window panels were painted sloppily and looked like someone used a finger to try to wipe paint overlap from the glass panes. The walls were painted with no masking nor paint lines cut in. The entry had a section of window and frame pushed out of the wall and the glass was missing. It was obvious to me that all the damage and paint was not done recently. On top of this the doors were filthy with black dirt as was the carpeting. The bathroom tile and tub edge had mold in the corner and in the grout. The King bed was made up of two twin beds pushed together with the box spring exposed with no skirting. The bed clothes and towels were clean and that's the best I can say. The rooms are run down. Dingy and beat up. Carpet is moist and gross. The room smelled like cigarette smoke masked by air freshener. I could hardly sleep Because of the smell. All of my clothes, luggage and computer bag wreaked of the stench when I got home. I had to wash everything. The TV and WiFi worked. Hair dryer did not. I couldn't get out of this room fast enough. Paid $70 plus fees for the room. You clearly get what you paid for. read more

This place was absolutely horrible! Filthy rooms, inoperable pool, stuff that could not care less, and completely unlike the pictures that the claim to look like. The air conditioner was full of filth, barely operable. The floor was so disgusting that we walked around and our shoes the entire time we were there. The sink was filthy and had food in it, the walls were disgusting, and the door looked like it was something out of walking Dead, because it was covered with greasy handprints. I can't believe that there is no way to report this to Wyndham, because by no means are they upholding their standards to even the smallest fraction. Do not stay here. read more

This is the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Moldy stains in the shower. Dingy gray white towels. Just gross

High prices dump. I don't mind no frills however I have been to motels that offer more (luggage rack, cups, intact coffee maker) for half the price. Add the damp towel on the clothing rack and what looks like feces on the bedspread. Appalling. I will give a shout out to the very polite woman I spoke to earlier in the day, still with the mess - for a hefty price- the 1 star is generous. Don't stay here. read more

Not a good value. When taxes are included, you are looking at $200 for a three night stay. Due to the caliber of the inn, I'm surprised about 2 things. (1) It's in the Wyndham Group. (2) Amherst allows it to be there. My major complaints were horrible water pressure in the shower and no maid service during my 3 night stay. The appearance of the place is rundown inside and out. The middle-eastern staff were not friendly. Probably don't like working there. I read there was a continental breakfast and asked about it. There is none. However, there is a huge area near check-in for that type of breakfast. Pool is not ready and looks so horrible, I don't know if it will ever be ready. On the bright side, the TV service was ok. I checked for bed bugs, of course, and did not find any. read more

HORRIBLE experience. Rented 3 rooms there. In one of them, the door latch was super lose, and it fell off the door frame when I tried to engage it. Didn't think much of it and didn't report it immediately. When I checked my credit card statement, I noticed they had fined me a total of 400.00 for it!! One fine of 250.00 plus they kept my 3 deposits for each room (50.00 each) EVEN from the rooms unrelated to the door latch!! It took me endless phone calls and complaints to even get the manager, Patricia, to answer or return my calls and she was not willing to change anything. She claims I engaged my door latch and then forcefully entered my own room from the outside. Logic prevents that from even being possible. If I lived there, I would definitely take them to small claims court. After a few months they finally refunded my 3x50 room deposits but still kept my other 250.00 Very very disappointed. read more

Quite possibly the rudest customer service experience of my life. Booked a room for my mother for when she was driving through the area and had an issue with the page loading online which led to booking the wrong night. It's all fine I called customer care who were helpful enough and they couldn't do anything on their end to reimburse, gave me a reference number and told me that it would take a week to get resolved. I booked another room for the correct night and waited for the communication. Later I received an email saying "After a review of your concern, the best resolution would be achieved by direct communication between the property management and yourself." All good so far. I'm on the west coast and a three hour time difference. I tried multiple days calling only to finally hear that the property manager is not in after 12:00am. Finally today, which would have been the day of the mistaken reservation, I got a hold of someone. I mentioned the situation, they responded with we can't cancel within 24 hours, I mentioned that I went about cancelling already. Potentially, all of that initial conversation can be handled with care and "lets talk" and "whats the reference number that you have from Wyndham" but it went straight to contention. No hint of concern, I'm sorry, really, anything other than rude customer care unbefitting of the hospitality industry. Her name was Jules. read more

Wow! I can't say enough about this place! Here's a few highlights: Upon entering my room I was immediately hit with the blissful stench of what smelled like wet dog and dirty laundry. This was wonderful because I particularly requested a room that smelled like this. I turned on the air and was immediately lifted into the clouds with the sweet smell of stale vinegar. Nice to see they're keeping the vents clean. I proceeded to shave and brush my teeth and the water in the sink refused to drain. This was definitely a plus because I was staying a few days and love reusing sink water filled with my own skank. The towels were nice and worn out. So much so that you couldn't dry yourself and was rough to the touch. Perfect for me since I favor dressing myself while still wet with skin red and scratched from the rough towels. I held up one towel and could actually see thru it. Oh, and having to get my key rekeyed once per day was great because of the exercise I got walking to and from the office multiple times. What a wonderful, wonderful stay! Highly recommend! Wish I could give 10 stars. read more

The price was certainly right ($53.00) unfortunately, open the door and get hit with a wall of stale cigarette odor. I suppose if you're a smoker you might not notice. I went out and bought Fabreeze, the oder came back and actually woke me up. After spraying the room again at 2am, i got some sleep. Other than that, it's an aging motel and could use a re-do. Long drive to Philly and needed a place to stay. It smells of smoke from the 1970's, it's run down and dated. The pool looks like a couple dead bodies have probably been found floating in it. I feel like I'm going to leave here with athletes foot, bed bugs and some creepy internet video of me sleeping floating around out there. Breakfast was next to nothing, everything gives off a feeling of being shady and if it were a single floor motel, I'd think Norman Bates was the owner. I would give it 0 stars if that were an option. When we first walked in, the room had a weird odor. The carpet looked and felt disgusting, I kept my shoes on the whole time. The shower had hair sticking to the walls before we even got the chance to use it, then the tub wouldn't drain when we did use it. The morning staff (I think it was the managers) were very friendly. But that's probably the only good part about my stay. When we left and started going through our bags and found roaches. I was disgusted. I called the hotel to see if there was anything they could do for me and they said that they could have offered me a nicer room if I had complained then and there. Why would I want that? Chances are if one room is disgusting, the whole hotel is unkept. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere because you'll pay a high price for some pet roaches and you won't get a refund. read more

When we originally booked this motel I was very hesitant because of the reviews and the fact the 1st room that we were put in smelled like an ashtray but Jules took care of the issue making sure we had a clean smoke free room then when we got back to our room after getting drenched at cedar point because of the really bad storm Jules threw our jackets and hoodies in the dryer so that we didn't have to freeze outside when we were smoking so with that said thank you Jules for doing an awesome job ur a Rockstar read more

Stayed here for five nights. Room was okay- sheets and towels were clean but very thin and coarse, no use of softener in the wash. Hotel had a musky smell that was not appealing. Customer service is the main reason for the 1 star rating. Not personable, not friendly, not professional and at time down right rude. Breakfast is the other reason for the 1 star rating-very disappointing each morning and some things advertised in the hotel documents were never present at breakfast. 2 types of cereal, no pastries or muffins. When the coffee ran out one morning they were so unwilling to provide more- as if they were doing me and the other guests waiting a favor. If you only need a crash spot and don't care that it's smelly. Otherwise I'd recommend staying at another establishment where you'll be treated respectfully and appreciated for choosing their hotel. read more

For starters, the staff were rude. The entire place was humid inside. The halls looked straight out of the shining, with worse lighting. The walls in the room looked as if they were painted by a grade schooler. Then awoke the next morning to the whole floor (of the non smoking building) smelling of marijuana. This place is ridiculous. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 2 nights and it was terrible, very loud and the room we were given looked as if it had be broken into before. Overall, extremely uncomfortable. To top it off, our check out time was 11am, we were running a bit late so we notified the from desk that we would be utilizing the late check out option. This facility is well worn but, to the owner's credit, it is being fully renovated and, for that, I applaud them. The room was clean and spacious. It was a perfect fit for a quick dinner with relatives in Oberlin and early start the next morning. I would stay here again. Hopefully, the renovations will be complete the next time. read more

Stayed at this hotel booked it through Orbitz. Woke up to bed bugs not to mention the room smelled, burn holes on the sheets, and everything in it was out dated and old especially the bathroom. Soda machine was sold out of everything as well. Went to the frost desk and showed the hotel clerk whom immediately called the hotel manager Jodi or Julie was her name. I was assured that I wouldn't be charged for the room and they apologized saying they were closing off the room to have it properly cleaned. I still got charged..... Called Orbitz who called the hotel and was told they would have to wait until the following Friday to investigate.... Which why does it take a week to investigate a room when I have actual video??? Very SHADY! Then was told I needed to send the video to Days Inn.... "which clearly shows a bed bug & I smashed it to show the blood" which was probably sucked out of my six year old who woke up itching! Haven't received a response yet and I'm still getting the run around for overpriced room dirty with bugs! NEVER STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT RIPPED OFF! read more

Average hotel. This would not be a place I would spend my vacation in but its functional for the night or two you might need a room. Other then the Black mold that I found in the Bathtub around the drain and the broken drain stopper that was stuck in the shut position the hotel was ok. The front door to some of the rooms also had some issues with the electric locks as some did not work. As far as the lobby goes be prepared to walk through a construction zone as they have some of the front lobby still under construction. Only other complaint I had was also having to go through random doors stashed in the middle of the hallways. read more

No stars!!!! This hotel was horrible! We weren't even greeted by the surly young woman working at the registration desk. She had her cell phone up too loud to apparently hear us, and we had to ask her for a room twice. She glared at us and was over-all very unpleasant. She seemed to be having troubles running our credit card through, saying it was accepted then declined and accepted again. This went on for about 5 minutes before she was able to run it through. She told us that we were on the second floor, so we headed up the stairs next to her desk. We got to the second floor and realized that she never told us our room number and it wasn't located on the key she gave us. My husband ran down stairs to ask our room number. After coming back up the stairs with the number, we walked around the floor and couldn't find our room. We ended up at another set of stairs and when we went down, we were at the other side of the front desk. Once again, we were met with a glare. We let her know that we couldn't find our room. She then decided to tell us that it was located in the second building! Are you kidding me?!? When we finally made it to our room, we were appalled. The room was filthy, and we avoided the bathroom as much as we could. There were stains and hair left from previous guests so we didn't even dare to use the shower. The deadbolt on our door was broken and the drink vending machines weren't stocked. The only thing that was good was the modern tv and cable service. (Maybe they should clean the rooms instead of buying new tvs, just saying...) Stay here if you don't mind being confused, dirty, and thirsty. Otherwise, look elsewhere. read more
