My Dad and I booked this hotel at the last minute because my basketball team was playing Black Hills State university for a playoff game and the hotel was not the best it was not very clean and the room was very cold at night even when we turned up the heat and finally the staff there was not very friendly at all, but other then that for my dads second and my third time In South Dakota we loved the state. read more

Not too many hotel choices in Spearfish, to be honest. But this Days Inn is not bad at all! I would NOT stay here if I were traveling alone. They have exterior doors and for a female solo traveler, that is a big No for me. But being this is a family trip, it really was a pretty nice place. The room was clean and neat as a pin with fresh white linens. Bathroom was also spotless. Only thing to beef about was a bit of a musty odor from the air conditioner that evaporated when we opened the window to air things out. They do have some pet-friendly rooms, too! The price was certainly reasonable and worth the stay, especially for one night as we were passing through. It's not 5-star accommodations, but it is comfortable and homey! What a great place to stay in Spearfish! The staff were super friendly and accommodating to our changing schedule. The rooms were clean, lots of pillows, comfortable beds, and quiet. There is a resident cat named Bob that supervises the place. So it's a pet friendly establishment with a small refundable deposit. If you're lucky, the owner might bring in their golden retriever Oakley. The breakfast room is open 24/7 and you can get free coffee, tea, cocoa, juice and oatmeal all day. There is the obligatory continental breakfast. It also has a great location - Safeway is across the street as is Walgreens. We love this place and think you would too! read more

My husband & I chose this motel in Spearfish as we needed to stop for the night and it allowed pets. We were initially leery since we were 1 of 2 cars in the entire motel. But the staff was nice and the rooms were clean. They have both interior and exterior doors which did make loading our dog and luggage easier in both the morning and exit trips. It was definitely convenient being next to food chains as well as gas stations and the highway. read more

While on a cross-country road trip, my wife and I stopped for the night in Spearfish. We chose the Days Inn because the price was nice, they offered a government rate, and more importantly, they allowed pets (for a $10 fee). The staff was nice, and the rooms were clean. A unique aspect was the two doors. There was an exterior door which led directly to the parking lot. This made loading the car a breeze, especially with the dog. The second door was an interior door that opened to the hallway in the motel. This was especially nice for breakfast, because it allows you to get to breakfast without having to leave the building. Good feature in the winter. I was happy with this choice and would recommend it to other travelers. The rooms were cozy, and the location was convenient. It was next to plenty of gas stations and places to eat. Easy in and out when passing through. read more

Great hotel! We rolled in late on a Saturday night and had made a reservation through Bring Fido and had 2 dogs. I guess Bring Fido didn't tell them we were traveling with dogs so they didn't originally have us in a dog room. Bunnie at the front desk was super helpful and got us into a dog room. The dog rooms are cool, we backed the truck right up to the door to unload. The dog potty area is close and stocked with bags. Nice bed, clean room, soft towels. They gave out sack breakfasts due to COVID. Would stay here again. read more

What a great stay we had here. The last Days Inn I stayed at was not so good so I haven't gone back to them for years. But being very tired after being on the road for some time we decided to give them another chance. Are we ever glad we did. Room side parking is a great plus. It was so great to park 4 feet from the door of our room. The beds were very comfortable and the place is kept up very nice and very clean. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant which was appreciated. The continental breakfast included hard boiled eggs which was really nice for a change. We booked on Expedia because it said "pet friendly". Arrived at 3:30 pm, exhausted after a long day on the road. Room wasn't ready yet even though check in time said 2pm. So we waited 20 minutes to discover they had booked us a no pet room and didn't have any space for us. Our dog is a registered service dog but they didn't seem to care, a dog is a dog. They also offered no military rate, which isn't worth a lower rating but something travelers may want to know. Only reason it got 3 stars was because the girl was nice enough to cancel our reservation without much fuss. read more

Better breakfast options than some other hotels for the same price. Friendly, attentive staff. Fitness center is super small, with just a stationary bike, an elliptical and some medicine balls, but they had a foam roller! Much needed for a road tripper's sore back. Decent place for the price, but would have liked a comforter in the room as it was pretty cold when we got there. But, we had a room w/ outdoor access so that likely made it colder. The heater warmed up the room fairly quickly and kept us warm through the night. read more

This place was very nice for a Motel,. The room was very large with a nice Jacuzzi tub a must after driving all day. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and welcoming. A Propane Grill is outside for guests to use. The Breakfast wasn't much coffee, Juices and a bag of our meal, but the wife told me I could lose some weight so it served the purpose. Will definitely stay at this place when on the road. read more

Rooms are clean, spacious. Bed is comfy, pillows aren't. Breakfast is barely provided and coffee is just dirty water. If you're gluten intolerant, good luck finding anything but a hard boiled egg to eat. Overall, for the price, I think there's better, but there are certainly worse places to stay. read more

Unfortunately, my stay at Days Inn Spearfish was less than pleasant. I have stayed here twice before as well as recommended it to relatives and friends. I won't be staying here again nor recommending it. First, upon my arrival, I was told my room is second floor and there is no elevator. I asked if I could have a first floor room but was told since I had used an internet service instead of booking directly, it is the managers strict policy that I have to be ONLY in certain rooms which are all second floor. The heater in the room works poorly. The thermostat does not cut on and off. It just runs constantly but never gets very warm. I was freezing. The first day, the housekeeping forgot to service my room. On the second day, my sister arrived who had actually booked directly with the hotel AND they also refused to give her a first floor room. My sister explained to them that I am handicapped and it is difficult for me to go up and down steps. They told her I still cannot be placed on the first floor due to I bought my room from an internet service. On the 5th of 7 nights, at 11 pm, a bunch of people checked into 3 rooms upstairs. They were running up and down the halls making a lot of noise. I called the desk who said they would let them know they need to be quiet. This did not change the noise and so I opened the door to ask them to be quiet but accidentally shut the door which locked behind me leaving me in the hallway in my pajamas. I went downstairs to the lobby and was very upset and the lady at the desk said those people just checked in so give them time to quiet down. Well it's 11:15 pm. They need to proceed to their room quietly. She then made it out to be my fault since now I am also in the hallway talking loudly. Well I'm only out here because if them and so maybe they could tell them they need to go back to their rooms and be quieter. She had no issue telling me to do so. She then said she only called one of the three rooms. Well maybe that's why they didn't get quiet. Regardless, I'm leaving tomorrow and will not be reimbursed for the final two nights of 7 that I had prepaid. I'll go somewhere else that has a working heater and a quiet policy after 11 pm and actually has handicap accessible rooms. read more

The place offered two rates: a lower rate plus $10 per night for dog. The higher rate was $5 more, but offered "Pet Friendly" room including the dog. The management slipped the $10 per night onto the higher charge, When I brought it to their attention, the manager was rude, argumentative & refused to reverse his "bait & switch". Days Inn then fought me credit card company for weeks over their mendacious act. Rather than generate any goodwill whatsoever, they clung tenaciously to a lousy $20 false advertising. This hotel was great! I travel with dogs and that's never easy, but when I checked in, the clerk gave me baggies of little dog treats which was so sweet, I've never had a hotel do that before. She had us booked into a room that had a back door that went straight outside to a pet area (in addition to the usual inside hallway door) and they even had towels in the room specifically for puppy messes, which is genius. In the lobby they had delicious cookies and fruit infused water. From the outside the hotel doesn't look like much, but it's beautiful on the inside and I wasn't disappointed in a single thing. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was clean, the air conditioner actually kept the room at an even, comfortable temperature, the towels are big and soft, and the hotel was peaceful all night. The desk clerk deserves extra recognition, she was funny and friendly, quick, and so good with my pups. read more

We originally booked the room from 8/7/17 to 8/12/17. I paid $570 up front on my debit card. Paid the remainder of $352 upon arrival. That's $922 for 4 nights....we decided at check in not to stay the 5th night for an additional $316. After a heated discussion with the hotel staff we agreed that we would check out the morning of Friday 8/11/17. No additional charges. The hotel was giving complimentary rally hats and trinkets away....upon checkout we went to the front desk where the attendant Mark gave us the one bandana not knowing there was note stapled to it from the manager stating "I believe this is for the rude guy in 213, he gets nothing...lol". Unhappy with the entire experience at this hotel. The staff was rude and the one girl Brea stood there and lied right to my face and her boss that she hasn't discussed the reservations or the final cost with me on 4 different occasions. So we leave on 8/11....return home. On 8/15 there is a charge on my card (unauthorized) for $126.55. I've call twice and no one can explain what the charge is for or who authorized it. I've reported the charge to my bank as fraud. The general manger at this location was with out a doubt one of the rudest people I've encountered in the hospitality industry. I will pursue till Days inn makes this right. Very poor service on their end. read more

Nice stay. Really liked the two door entry. One from the parking lot and the other to the inside corridor. A little noisy and got worse after calling the front desk, but they eventually went to bed....! Staff was great! Location was good. Close to shopping, food and interstate. Room was clean, bathroom was a good size and in good repair. Breakfast was just okay. The eggs were folded over and stuffed with cheese and ham, but were cold. Other good choices however. Parking was very good! Didn't like the amount they "hold" on your CC for incidentals though. Most places hold $10-$20, they hold $50 and that is down from their usual $100....!! This hotel was unexpectedly nice and quaint. First off, the bedding was updated (no 90's quilt like you sometimes see at Days Inn). Also, the eating area was very cutely decorated, and they had a nice variety of breakfast food. They even had a collection of board games for people to play in there. The staff was very friendly. After spending 2 nights at the Days Inn Spearfish, I received a bill for $419--it seemed as though the motel had charged me for an extra night. When I called the front desk to ask about the charge, the front desk explained that the motel had charged me $150 for an undeclared pet--a pet that I had told the front desk about, had exercised outside the motel office during my stay, and had made no effort to hide or conceal. The Days Inn Spearfish, unlike any other motel I have visited, requires guests to sign a check-in sheet, which apparently has a designated box to check to declare a pet. If you fail to mark the section (because it is small and difficult to read, especially if you have less than perfect eyesight, or have just been released from the hospital the night before) you will be charged $150, for a "deep cleaning charge." There is no place to declare a pet online. So, if you end up in a situation like I did--checking into the last available room in the hotel--and you DECLARE a pet, you will be turned away if the one designated pet room is already occupied. If you plan to bring a pet, make sure you call the hotel after making reservations online to request a pet room. This motel's outdated hand-written system for declaring pets cost me $150--don't make the same mistake. Also, the rooms were unkempt and dirty, and the front desk help made no effort to inform me about the charge after hearing about my dog and seeing me take it for a walk. These people will do everything they can to get money from you--be smart before checking in. read more

while driving west on I-90, my wife and I pulled into Spearfish, SD to have a grinding noise checked on. Sunday afternoon, everything closed. Found a Chevy dealer with a repair shop so we checked into the Days Inn adjacent to the car lot. Rooms were very reasonable due to the fact that this was in the dead of winter...Jan 2... Monday, car checked, bearings shot, parts due weds. (arrived thursday) so we were stuck for four nights. Days Inn was great since we decided to empty the car and the rooms have a hall door and an exterior door. Very convenient. I fell in love with the front desk people and the cleaning ladies. They felt sorry for us and took extra great care of us. Felt like family... They have a breakfast room with hot waffles, fresh OJ, coffee 24/7 and a microwave. We went to Safeway right next door and got jambalaya soup which we heated and enjoyed in the breakfast room (for lunch of course). McDonalds, Burger King, Golden Dragon Chinese, Movie 6-plex, bowling and mini-golf all within one block of this great little motel. Would rate a five star if the breakfast was 5-star.....but alas, it is simple..... read more

We had to make a family emergency trip to Spearfish, I booked a room at Days Inn since it was the closest to our family. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised and welcomed to our room. The staff was most gracious to us knowing that we were going through a very emotional time losing a family member while we were there. The room was clean and cozy, bed was very comfortable, and it was so nice having fresh coffee and breakfast provided each morning. I had asked the person at the front desk what time the local paper was delivered and to our surprise when we got back to our room that night there was the paper laying on our bed! When I asked for a phone number to get a shuttle back to the airport (45 miles) the manager offered to give us a ride since they were already taking someone there at the same time we needed to go. The owners & staff went over and beyond the normal duties for us. These kind jesters made our stay at a difficult time much more pleasant. Thank you once again...Kevin & Darilynn read more
