A different section of the coffee bar...who the hell knows when it was cleaned last

When I first entered the building there was a woman sitting down on a chair in front of the door behind a glass/acrylic window busy on her phone... she did not acknowledge me. I then went to the front desk to check in - the same woman begrudgingly got herself out of her seat and came over to the desk to check me in. The older heavier set woman with long greyish hair (sorry, I never caught her name) was rude all the way around. I proceeded to pay cash then ask for a receipt...she then explained that there was no need because she "put it in" I shrugged it off and went to my room. The room was disgusting. My shower curtain had dirty "crap" stains on the inside of it...the ceiling fan was squeeking all the time...bath and shower were leaking on the floor the whole time I was there. I then proceeded to the side exit next to my room to smoke a cigarette and was even more blown away. I was astounded to find to two womens bras and a collection of other trash items right outside the door. Now...let me tell you about "breakfast" 2 small packages of cookies 2 breakfast bars Does not even cut it for a "limited breakfast" The owner of this hotel should be ashamed as much as I am for even staying there. Never again. The best thing about staying here was that the Pilot gas station and Subway was not too far away.

Spent 3 nights at this place. Asked for the room to be cleaned 2 out of 3 nights. And it was never done. Asked for cleaned towels every night and they made us bring the old used towels to the front desk before getting new ones. Lmao like if people want to steal their old dirty towels. Ask for an ice bucket and never got it. Had to brush out teeth in the shower because the sink was clogged. Night person very unfriendly and looked like she didn't want to be there. Sent and email to Days Inn and one to Wyndham and they ignored it as usual. I will never waste my money in this place again and I suggest people read the reviews before staying here.

I went to this hotel and it seemed fine. When I walked into my room the bathroom shower was holding together with what seemed like play-doh! When you tried to pull the nozzle to make the water come out the shower way it almost fell off. We complained to the front desk. They changed our room. Before we left a guy came in and talked down to the family member I was with (mind you she is a woman) like she was trash on the floor. Telling her that she was wrong and that it won't fall off and that they are all like that. Then we switched rooms. First thing I check is the freezer\fridge. Oh what do you know there's alcohol spilled all over the place in the freezer and frozen. The policy says no alcohol in the building. It reeks with an awful smell. We complained again and the lady rolled her eyes. Went back to the room and saw a little black bug, stains on the blanket and the pillow. A lady also walked in with a dog. It's not a service animal. No pets allowed. Little kids screaming and talking so loud I could not even here what I'm saying to my family member from 3 ft away. The pool has not been open yet and we came all prepared. It advertised as open. The tv randomly started buzzing very loud. We had to turn the volume on mute. Do not go! We are telling the manager tomorrow morning. Unless you want to waste your money don't go! Reporting to the credit card company for money back.

    The filthy fridge

If I could give a zero stars I would. Save your money and time !! This place is atrocious!! We made reservations a week in advance only to show up and be told she would have to personally go up and see if any rooms were clean ( what!!). After a long wait and finding out there is no working WiFi , no breakfast and a skeleton crew , we were given a room , we got to room it was still not clean, toilet did not flush, the tv did not work, the fridge was left disgusting , we decided we were not interested In taking a chance on the beds being clean. We went to front desk and asked for a refund , the woman working there was nice enough ,gave us a refund but please save your money!! This hotel is not worth it!! Also on our check out we over heard the front desk lady telling the other people checking in who had to wait for a room to be cleaned (even though they had made reservations) that the soda and snack machines did not work and the ice machine was down :( The location is frightening literally down a road behind the truck stop ! Yuck stay clear!!!

I would have no stars but not sure I can. Thin walls are the least of the problems for this hotel. Bed bugs are. I will never stay here again. I should have checked the bed before I went to sleep. When I got up in the morning, I noticed a bug crawling across my bed. I picked up the pillows and saw more bugs and blood. Pulled back the sheets, same thing. Saw more bugs in the sheets and on side of the mattress. I complained at the front desk and was refunded my money immediately, but the staff did not seem surprised. Could it be they are familiar with the problem? The manager was supposed to call me. I may have missed the call but no voice message was left. Had to leave my suitcases outside when I got home, put my clothes in plastic bags to bring into the house and wash them with hot water. My suitcases are in the process of going through fumigation in the hope I will not have hitchhikers.

Forgot to attach photos that show how dirty this place is. Funny enough, I ran into a woman who recently stayed there (as I had to set up shop in another hotel). She said that the cops showed up and that the guests had to evacuate because the fire alarm went off. Apparently people were filing out with their luggage because they couldn't tough out another minute. I'm sure they weren't given refunds to boot. I've attached contact information for the local board of health in Sturbridge. If you had a terrible experience as well, please contact them and request a health agent make a visit. People looking for hotels: don't believe the good ratings for this place. And if you do, make sure you're okay with paying twice as you'll lose money and have to pay for other accommodations. Good luck!

If you think this is a bad hotel room for $60 a night then you're just a spoiled bitch.

Review for the hotel accommodations…read more When you visit Sturbridge, you know antiquity will be part of the theme. Olde buildings, historical relics, period clothing- all the stuff of retro-tourism. And when you stay at a place called the Public House, you know the theme will be continued ling after the time at the Sturbridge Villiage is spent. It's an after-hours continuation of your historical proclivities, and for many, a welcome extension. The main house smells like fireplace, has wonderful construction materials, lead windows, exposed beams- you are staying in an important place that echoes with hundreds of years of conversations and ales. However, book through hotels.com, and your 1750 time warp lands you oddly in 1980. No main inn to be found; rather, you pioneer your wagon to the remotest of the motel complex where nary 2 other weary travelers have been sequestered, and in this desolation you unlock your door to Nancy Reagan, the Bee Gees, and ET. 1980 greets you with mismatched antique-ish furnature, tiled bathtubs, and plug-in electronic clock radios. Curtains look like wallpaper from Williamsburg- replete with pioneer hunting scenes- and carpeting is an odd green color. See, subjecting yourself to a historical setting has backfired, and though antiquey, it isn't anything other than a mishmash of castaway artifacts, seeking a home in the farthest of corners of the Public House complex. And this is your dilemma...you wanted this, and this you have received. Women in their 49's in 1980 would have swooned into the arms of their lovers, to be surrounded by such immersion early Americana! To be concise, the furthest block of rooms is a woefully outdated historical remnant that refuses to modernize. To the credit or historical preservationalists, it is clean, perfectly functional, and has good water pressure and comfortable mattresses and pillows. The AC may be a little noisey- possibly in an attempt to drown out semi-trucks on the nearby highway, rolling over the rumble strips along the white line- but it blows cold, and the room doesn't have odors. It is like the frilled tuxedo with bellbottom paints in your grandfathers closet; still functional and clean, but slightly outdated. And this is the conundrum when staying in a historical hotel: you asked for it. We did have a good night at the Public House, and the delicious breakfast of baked goods in the Bakery the next morning was appreciated. Coffee cake and coffee were a good combination before taking ye olde family back on the road!

We stayed here one night. Room was clean and comfortable but a bit outdated…read more I'm knocking down two stars - one for the restaurant in the hotel which was pretty poor - poor service and average food considering what they want to charge. The second star knock is due to the fact they appear to have one (1) luggage cart, which in itself isn't an issue until the interaction I had with hotel staff the next morning. Since we were staying one night going elsewhere, we had a lot with us going to the room to ensure our car wouldn't be broken into. They put us on the far side of the building away from the wedding party's guests, which I appreciated. No issue the previous night (a Friday) when we arrived. The next morning, I went down to see if the cart was available (if you haven't been here before - the opposite side of the building is a LONG walk away from the front where you can pull your car up). It was missing (not a surprise) but I asked if the front desk receptionist knew when it may return (had it been gone long or had someone just got it). The answer was "the bridal party is using it for holding their dresses" which is NOT an acceptable answer when you have to trek across that entire building with a ton of luggage and are a paying customer. Seemed to not phase the staff at all. BTW - I had seen the bridal party outside unloading items from their vehicle when I went to breakfast....1-2 hours prior. So - if you don't stay a weekend when a wedding may occur and you eat elsewhere, not a bad choice. Or if you stay the weekend with minimal luggage and don't mind carrying it to your room. Personally - I think that if you're only going to pay for a room, this one is too expensive considering it being a bit outdated.

Place is clean but rundown and smells. Although it's non smoking, they allow people to smoke tabaco and marijuana in the interior common areas. Smell proliferates everywhere. Julie behind the desk is rude, inappropriate, unprofessional, and racist. Although there were more than 6 dogs staying at the place (one barked non stop and another pooped in the hall), Julie decided it was my trained service dog with no proof. Most likely because I was the only non white person with a service dog. She went as far as telling me that my dog is a comfort dog and not a service animal. She refused to see the documents I offered as back up. She also crossed the line when she approached the event organizer of the event I was there for to ban me from future events. Extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. I wish this annual event would move elsewhere that is not as decade, decrepit, and had professional hospitality people.
