Days Inn by Wyndham has been rebranded as the Sturbridge Plaza Hotel. It's inconveniently located behind a Pilot Gas Station/ Trucking Stop. If you make the wrong turn, you could be on your way to Connecticut. What drove me to this location was the price. I cannot lie, the rooms are super cheap. And when a continental breakfast is included, it's pretty much a no brainer. I decided it was worth the travel. Parking was great, plenty of space. My only gripe was that it looked like nobody plowed and everything was iced over. No salt on the walkways of the property. I almost broke my neck trying to make it inside. I booked the room for 2 nights and it was a little over a 100 bucks. The room looked clean for the most part. I pulled back the sheets, there were no visible stains or markings. The bed was big but the pillows were flat and they were only three of them. The noise was moderate. The room was very creaky. The room made random odd sounds with the occasional door opening and closing loudly from next door. The tv had cable but decided to stop working at 10 pm exactly. The heat turned off a few moments after the tv. I called the front desk and was told that nothing could be done about it because the person that would be able to fix it, isn't there. I decided to go to bed. I slept all the way through the night. When I woke up at 5:40 am, I decided to get some breakfast. Breakfast starts at 6am, so I headed out to the dining area at 6am exactly. To my surprise, there was a group of people already waiting in the dining area. The people looked as if they were living at the hotel. They didn't look like visitors if you know what I mean lol. There were packs of instant oatmeal, old looking muffins and bread, coffee and a waffle maker. Someone was making waffles and forgot to spray the waffle maker with the Pam spray beforehand. The waffle burned. The man at the front desk came over with a facial expression of disgust decided to unplug and remove the waffle maker. He didn't clean it or say anything. I don't know if the waffle maker made a second appearance the next morning because I decided to leave in the middle of the night. The back of my shoulder was very itchy. I grabbed my phone and took a picture as I sat in my car. I couldn't believe my eyes. Chat GPT said that it looks like bed bug bites and I agree. Decided to stay here after a long day of traveling and it looking okay online with a decent price compared to the next towns over. Checked in a pleasantly surprised to find what appeared to be a clean room and a very comfy, king bed. We both were looking forward to a long nights sleep - even sleeping in...but we were wrong. All night we could hear the bathrooms being used by our neighbors, the doors shut so heavy and sounded like constant slamming. This wasn't just guests in and out by the cleaning crew as well that started very early in the morning. Slamming the from doors, closet doors, you name it they were aggressive with it. The "complimentary breakfast" was individually wrapped pop tarts, breakfast bars and mini donuts with a coffee machine. And our "clean room" wasn't so clean with the light of the morning. Hair and other things lined the bathroom floors, the microwave and fridge had seen much better days, a third of the nozzles on the shower head didn't work, random toilet paper stuffed places...look at the pics and decide for yourself. Also, not all of the outlets worked so we woke up to uncharged devices. On the plus side the bed was actually very comfortable, the ac worked almost too well, the shower got hot (but pressure lacked) and the towels (though not soft) were HUGE and dried very well. Most terrifying experience ever at a hotel. A stranger in the hallway nearly assaulted us demanding to see our infant granddaughter that my wife was carrying to the room under her blanket to verify it was not a dog we were bringing in the hotel. I told him we do not have a dog and I was not going to let him near my granddaughter. I had no idea who this strange man was and if he was affiliated with the hotel because he was messily dressed in a tank top and shorts. He kept yelling at me that he was going to charge a $300 fee because I would not show him my granddaughter. I called the customer service line to get a refund because we left the hotel immediately because of this strange man and went and checked in to the Hampton Inn. read more

When I first entered the building there was a woman sitting down on a chair in front of the door behind a glass/acrylic window busy on her phone... she did not acknowledge me. I then went to the front desk to check in - the same woman begrudgingly got herself out of her seat and came over to the desk to check me in. The older heavier set woman with long greyish hair (sorry, I never caught her name) was rude all the way around. I proceeded to pay cash then ask for a receipt...she then explained that there was no need because she "put it in" I shrugged it off and went to my room. The room was disgusting. My shower curtain had dirty "crap" stains on the inside of it...the ceiling fan was squeeking all the time...bath and shower were leaking on the floor the whole time I was there. I then proceeded to the side exit next to my room to smoke a cigarette and was even more blown away. I was astounded to find to two womens bras and a collection of other trash items right outside the door. Now...let me tell you about "breakfast" 2 small packages of cookies 2 breakfast bars Does not even cut it for a "limited breakfast" The owner of this hotel should be ashamed as much as I am for even staying there. Spent 3 nights at this place. Asked for the room to be cleaned 2 out of 3 nights. And it was never done. Asked for cleaned towels every night and they made us bring the old used towels to the front desk before getting new ones. Lmao like if people want to steal their old dirty towels. Ask for an ice bucket and never got it. Had to brush out teeth in the shower because the sink was clogged. Night person very unfriendly and looked like she didn't want to be there. Sent and email to Days Inn and one to Wyndham and they ignored it as usual. I will never waste my money in this place again and I suggest people read the reviews before staying here. read more

Terrifying! This hotel is next to a truck stop and very shady. The experience we had was absolutely terrifying. We arrived and no one was at the front desk. Had to find someone one. The room had an open window and men were lurking outside. We immediately left and found the local police patroling the parking lot. Alot of disturbance and an unsafe hotel. I called the hotel to make them aware. A female manager answered the phone, she was argumentative and denied any of this distrubance happened. Please be aware. Human tracking is a real crisis and this location is unsafe for women and children. The manager did not care for our concerns or safety. read more

At 2am another guest used their keycard to unlock and enter my room. When we checked out I said I wanted the manager to call me (I never did get a call back, and I called 3 times). The night manager did speak to me, but she kept saying "I was in the room next to you and it happened to my boyfriend and me too". She was so nonchalant about it I concluded that it was either a frequent occurrence or I'd didn't happen at all. I should have looked at the reviews before I booked here. This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever seen. Because the lobby smelled as soon as we walked in the door we asked to see the room before we gave our credit card. We were told we couldn't, but even though the room was non refundable we had an hour after checking in to get a refund if there was something wrong with the room. The elevator creaked and I was afraid it wouldn't make it to the third floor. The halls and carpet were stained and filthy. The bathroom floor in our room had not been cleaned and had bits of paper all over. The room smelled. This motel is poorly ran and operated. I checked in late, I think I woke up the attendant, she could not find my reservation. After finding it, she could not "actually" check me in without charging me again, like another full charge, not just the holding the credit card charge. I was told to have the attendant take the charge of the following morning. The room was okay, not great. Let's leave it at the place needs updating. The blow dryer went out on me, the whole circuit blew I think, because after getting another, I had to use the outlet in the room and not the bathroom. Finding the attendant was a whole ordeal all in itself. I walked around the entire building (inside), calling for someone. I found him on the second floor doing. He attitudinally helped me, giving off the vibe that I was disturbing him. He refunded my money, and I checked out 2 days early, to go somewhere else. When the blow dryer incident happened, I had to again find him. This time, again on the second floor where he and other employees were all in one room. No one is down stairs at the desk, and others were very politely, I guess, waiting for someone to show up to help them. Unprofessional, unfriendly, unorganized and low standards. read more

I went to this hotel and it seemed fine. When I walked into my room the bathroom shower was holding together with what seemed like play-doh! When you tried to pull the nozzle to make the water come out the shower way it almost fell off. We complained to the front desk. They changed our room. Before we left a guy came in and talked down to the family member I was with (mind you she is a woman) like she was trash on the floor. Telling her that she was wrong and that it won't fall off and that they are all like that. Then we switched rooms. First thing I check is the freezer\fridge. Oh what do you know there's alcohol spilled all over the place in the freezer and frozen. The policy says no alcohol in the building. It reeks with an awful smell. We complained again and the lady rolled her eyes. Went back to the room and saw a little black bug, stains on the blanket and the pillow. A lady also walked in with a dog. It's not a service animal. No pets allowed. Little kids screaming and talking so loud I could not even here what I'm saying to my family member from 3 ft away. The pool has not been open yet and we came all prepared. It advertised as open. The tv randomly started buzzing very loud. We had to turn the volume on mute. Do not go! We are telling the manager tomorrow morning. We made reservations a week in advance only to show up and be told she would have to personally go up and see if any rooms were clean ( what!!). After a long wait and finding out there is no working WiFi , no breakfast and a skeleton crew , we were given a room , we got to room it was still not clean, toilet did not flush, the tv did not work, the fridge was left disgusting , we decided we were not interested In taking a chance on the beds being clean. We went to front desk and asked for a refund , the woman working there was nice enough ,gave us a refund but please save your money!! This hotel is not worth it!! I stayed here about 6 years ago and let's just say... it's a totally different experience. I knew it was hidden behind a truck stop. No biggie... unless you've never been here before and you don't see the minuscule signs pointing you to the hotel. On check-in, I should have known there would be issues when a woman came up before me and stated her room that she just got a key for wasn't clean. Ok, that's weird, but it won't happen twice in a row right? No... we got a key programmed for SOMEONE ELSE'S ROOM. Full on walked into someone's hotel room full of their stuff. Thank God no one was in there at the time. Now I'm thinking... can anyone just waltz into MY room? I reserved a room for 3 adults on hotels.com with the request of a handicapped accessible bathroom. The request not only didn't get passed on to the hotel, they have NO available room with accessible bathrooms available. And even if they did... they're all single king beds. That's cool. Now my 75 year old mother can't use the bathroom in our room. Great. We had to go to Walmart and buy a toilet seat extender so she could use the toilet. The upstairs stank like marijuana. The drawers for clothing had acorns in them (?!) There were 2 towels for 3 people, so I stopped at the desk to ask for another. It seemed to physically pain the staff to find another towel for us. In fact, I was told they had to go find one, since at 7:30 pm the rooms were still being cleaned. Ok, at least our room will be clean and we'll have fresh towels when we get up to our room. Nope, wrong. The rooms weren't cleaned/serviced/trash emptied- any of the days we were there. They really expected us not only to have two towels for 3 people, but two for the entire 3 night stay. We left a bag of trash by our room door outside so the cleaning person, who was down the hall, could collect it. It was still there in the morning. Breakfast, which a few years ago was waffles and cereal and juice and bagels was now coffee from a machine and a granola bar. And you can't remove them from the breakfast area. The elevator SLAMS shut and we were right by the elevator so we heard it all night. There was a used tissue on the ground by the 3rd floor elevator the whole stay. There was a fake fingernail on the elevator floor the whole stay. I have never written such a terrible review for any hotel. I hope Days Inn corporate makes a run over there to get this location up to par. read more

A low budget hotel should still be clean! The toilet was yellowish and disgusting. It looked like it had NOT BEEN CLEANED FOR A LONG TIME. How difficult is to put some bleach in it, folks? Or maybe the millionaire that owns several of these low budget hotels and lives in DC is saving on bleach as well!! When I went to wash my hands at arrival I realized with frustration that there was no towels in the bathroom. I went to check the room and there was NO TOWELS AT ALL! I was going to pick up the phone to ask for some but just before doing so I remembered that hotel room phones are one of the things that are never cleaned in hotels (along with TV controls, bed spreads, light switches, ice buckets, coffee machine in the room, and the dark carpets to hide the dirt and so one are only vacuumed but never washed). It was late and I was tired and I just went to bed preferring to take a shower when I get home tonight as I don't trust that bathtub cleanliness either. I would have no stars but not sure I can. Thin walls are the least of the problems for this hotel. Bed bugs are. I will never stay here again. I should have checked the bed before I went to sleep. When I got up in the morning, I noticed a bug crawling across my bed. I picked up the pillows and saw more bugs and blood. Pulled back the sheets, same thing. Saw more bugs in the sheets and on side of the mattress. I complained at the front desk and was refunded my money immediately, but the staff did not seem surprised. Could it be they are familiar with the problem? The manager was supposed to call me. I may have missed the call but no voice message was left. Had to leave my suitcases outside when I got home, put my clothes in plastic bags to bring into the house and wash them with hot water. She said that the cops showed up and that the guests had to evacuate because the fire alarm went off. Apparently people were filing out with their luggage because they couldn't tough out another minute. I'm sure they weren't given refunds to boot. I've attached contact information for the local board of health in Sturbridge. If you had a terrible experience as well, please contact them and request a health agent make a visit. People looking for hotels: don't believe the good ratings for this place. And if you do, make sure you're okay with paying twice as you'll lose money and have to pay for other accommodations. No disrespect to other reviewer's experiences, but I have a very different story to tell with plenty of repeat bookings to back it up. Travel back and forth to PA to MA about once every 4-6 weeks. Been staying regularly at this hotel for over a year and a half now. It's the best value for the price - hands down. It's all about expectations, people. It's definitely not the Four Seasons. Yes, the walls are paper thin, sometimes the rooms have a bit of a musty overtone and it attracts a slightly different array of "guests" than other places might. But they have a small, well-maintained pool, it's in a quiet location, the rooms are always clean and it's SAFE. If it wasn't, I sure as hell wouldn't stay there with my kids. Staff is friendly, they've always accommodated any special requests I've had and I've never gone away from the free breakfast hungry (I don't care if you're at the Mandarin or Motel 6 - a Belgian waffle maker is the same no matter where you are.) It's 10 minutes from downtown but having stayed at several places on the main strip, I can say with authority that there's nothing touristy within walking distance from *any* hotel in Sturbridge. One last thing: a couple years ago, my wife and I stayed in a "historic" colonial hotel in downtown Sturbridge that cost considerably more per night. My $5000 camera got stolen out of my gear bag and we both ended up with a nasty batch of bedbugs. These are both unacceptable issues no matter where you are, least of all at a place claiming to be upper-crust posh. All I know is I've never had either problem at Days Inn and collectively, I've probably got over 3 month's worth of bookings there. Coming back in about 4 weeks to MA. Do not stay at this hotel!!!! After reading the reviews, it is worse than I originally imagined! I stayed here one night this past weekend and was bit by bed bugs and had an allergic reaction to them which landed me in urgent care and I missed 2 DAYS of work because I had to wear my arm in a sling because the swelling was so bad!!! (Picture below) put on Multiple prescriptions. I am awaiting a response back for all of my lost time and money and trauma and will continue to pursue. I reached out to corporate and I spoke with someone at the department of health and they are very familiar with this property and frequent it at least once a week is what I was told. I am afraid to stay at any other hotel now. Honestly a traumatising experience. The room was disgusting and not clean. Bathroom was dirty. There was hair on the toilet and shower was dirty on the bottom. Old pair of flip-flops you get from a pedicure shoved next to the AC unit and someone else's lanyard hanging on the mirror. My sheets had stains on them and probably weren't even clean. The room was musty. Someone set off the fire alarm and everyone who came outside was either high or drunk. You could smell weed in the hallway. Definitely seems like there is illegal activity going on here. When i told he young man at the desk that I woke up with hives and bites all over me he didn't seem phased! Don't stay here unless you plan on dealing with a lawyer or corporate following. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! We stayed at this hotel on August 11th to the 12th. They called us 3 times that day to see if we were coming after the room was already paid for and a confirmation was received. They were overbooked and wanted to resell our room is what we believe since they also did it with our friend's room and when they didn't show up until late, they had sold their "suite" to someone else. We were in our room 5 minutes and the fire alarm went off. The room was not cleaned well and smelled moldy. They left someone else's disposable pedicure flip flops in the room and the lanyard from someone who previously stayed in the room was hanging on the mirror. Which indicated to us that nobody really cleaned the room. There are mirrors all along the wall behind the beds which is strange. We wanted to check the beds for bed bugs and the mattresses had a cover that could not be lifted. My friend is currently at urgent care this morning being treated for welt like hives which she woke up with from sleeping in this hotel. They have now developed into bites. The cause of which is being determined but she is covered with hives, swollen and now has bitemarks. She began to have itchiness in her mouth as soon as she got into bed so we believe it was a reaction to either mold (which is one of many smells you smell in this hotel along with pot) or chemicals in the sheets. But this hotel has other reports of bed bugs from others who have stayed there. It should be shut down and condemned. Do not stay here! read more

We booked 4 rooms for a wedding party over 6 months in advance and were shocked when we arrived how disorganized and rude the staff was. On top of that, the rooms were disgusting. One of the rooms we booked was so bad that we had to get another room. We booked rooms far in advance so that we could all be next to each other--and specifically requested this, and once we arrived we found out we were all on different floors. When trying to ask if they could move us we quickly got "we are booked and there is nothing we can do". The carpets in this place seem like they are from the 70s with stains and crud all over them. In our room we had bites all over our legs after waking up possibly due to bed bugs. There were tweakers outside shooting up and smoking God knows what. The road or driveway to this hotel is sketchy and unmanaged. Best part of it all, the owner rolls up in a brand new i8 BMW with custom wrap and doors that lift like a Lamborghini. Glad to see the money that should be going towards upgrades is going somewhere useful. Highly recommend finding another hotel. read more

Used heroin needles, black mold, and stained carpets oh my! Never again, this place is an abomination. The bathroom of the room we stayed in had black mold all over the ceiling and walls and what appeared to be some nasty brown stains in the bath tub. The rug in the room was covered in filthy stains. The room smelled like a moldy wet dog. The exterior door card readers are broken so anyone and everyone can and does walk into the hotel, major security issue! Also, when we took a stroll around the we saw discarded heroin junkie needles on the grass and pavement. We woke up the next day, took a stroll and there were new filthy needles on the ground outside from junky usage the night before. This place was was horrible especially for over $130 for a nasty room. Which is nothing as described. I booked a suite and got the smallest room ever. Some suite ! Looked nothing like pics. Everything in the place was outdated, the sheets were old with stains and cigarette burn holes, dirt in draws, carpet torn and filthy, pillows beyond old. Now for the bathroom OMG. The linen towels had a ton of someone's hair on them, couldn't even put a new role of toilet paper, the bathroom was dirty. The shower curtains had mold on them which this is supposed to be changed after every guest. Thank God I was just renting the place for 1 night cause i was visiting family. The pictures make the place look better than it actually is. We were in Sturbridge for an event and found this place online. Here is why I suggest that you keep looking .... There was trash left in the room. *Extremely thin walls. We could hear EVERYTHING at all hours of the night. *Stains on the floor and furniture .. gross *Asked for an extra blanket and was given a blanket that looked like an animal blanket. *Be aware if you have kids the tv selection isn't good. Pretty much all news stations. *Wallpaper is peeling off the walls. *Mirrors around the room were dirty *No parking spots as they let two people with trucks and trailers take up 10 spots. *Their breakfast ... I suggest bringing your own because you are better off. *Couldn't close the frig cause of ice build up in it. *Needs to be cleaned better ... bedside table had something spilled all over it also the counter. *Toilet paper holder broken off the wall so the paper kept falling off. *Wifi sucks. For a while I thought the Days Inn sign on the road was a relic of the past, pointing to the abandoned Travelodge building that sits between the two Pilot stations. But no, venture a bit further into the woods, and down a short tree-lined street you'll find an actual Days Inn. The place is cute, the rooms are clean, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the usual free breakfast. Except it's not the usual free breakfast because of the WAFFLE IRON. That's right, make your own fresh waffles. Best "crappy hotel breakfast" ever. Just to clarify: this is NOT the long-since-closed Days Inn that was on Haynes Street, and it's not the Travelodge that used to be in the same plaza (everything in this alcove has the same address). They may have taken over a hotel license or something from the latter, because they reuse the old phone number, but it's not even the same building. The Travelodge shack still stands empty and neglected between the two Pilot stations, awaiting urban explorers. read more

We just so spent 6 days/5 nights at this location and though some of the issues regarding is location pdiscussed in previous reviews are warranted, everything else negative isn't truly justified. First off, there is signage to get you off 84 correctly but once you're off, there is nothing to tell you which way to turn in the exit and as a previously noted, GPS information is wrong. NOTE that this Days Inn is beind the Pilots Truck Stop at this exit. Even there, finding the entrance is cry difficult. This is my biggest issue with the motel. They need to put signage of directing folks how to navigate thru the truck stop to their property. As to the rooms, you get what you pay for. They are clean and have the necessities...that's what I expect from a budget motel. No dirt...no bed bugs...clean linen..working TV and such. It's that. Only real complaint I had was their atrocious WI-FI connectivity. Truly needs to be upgraded...my cell service was 20+ times faster than their connections. Finally, the owner and staff were extremely pleasant at all times!! The breakfast offerings were fresh and more than adequate. read more

Filthy disgusting hotel in the middle of nowhere. Was forced to stay here during Brimfield because nothing else was available. Special thanks to the cleaning staff that left behind someone's fingernail on the nightstand and used soap in the shower- can't wait to lather up with that. Pretty sure this place doubles as a halfway house - when I was checking in someone else was moving in all of their belongings. As other users mentioned the water runs brown for the first 30 seconds- there is a sign in the lobby blaming it on the town- but also the drains are backed up so expect to be up to your ankles in murky brownish water. On top of everything else there is no door latch and the doors have to be forced to close so it's not the safest feeling. The only redeeming thing was the staff - during checkin and at one point my key wouldn't work they were nice and accommodating. read more

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. There was dirt in the shower, the towels were brown, and it smelled like smoke; even in the no-smoking rooms that we had booked. We were supposed to stay here for the weekend, but we left after one night to find a nicer hotel because it was that bad. I highly do not recommend staying here. read more

This place is a dump. Front desk lady is very rude, dismissive and condescending. She lets the section 8 people who live at the hotel hang around the front desk while you are trying to conduct business and rent a room. Room had blood stains on the wall and smelled like a dog had been in there. Had to go buy my own cleaning supplies and disinfect the room. Lamp shade missing. This hotel has the audacity to add Wyndham to their name. I've stayed at "REAL" Wyndham properties and this ain't it. Looks like they make most of their business renting to section 8 people and contractors in the area. Located behind an abandoned building. Very sketchy looking area. Will never visit again read more

My girlfriend and I were in the Sturbridge area for an event being held at the Sturbridge host and saw this place. Usually we try to avoid places with really low prices because, well, "you get what you pay for". But we decided to take a chance on this place and it was a great decision! The counter staff was very friendly and informative about the near by restaurants and shopping areas. We booked a room with 2 queen beds. The beds were exceptionally comfortable compared to other hotels we've stayed at in the Sturbridge area. The bathroom was clean. The floors throughout the room were also clean. The breakfast in the morning was a great addition for the price of the room. Plus as an added bonus, the owner of the hotel drives a BMW i8. Who doesn't like waking up and seeing a BMW i8 outside? Highly recommend this place!!! read more
