I am between a 3 and a 4 but there were a few issues that affected me that maybe others will luckily avoid. This hotel is a great location to visit Old Sturbridge Village, which is a mile or so away. There is plenty of parking, the rooms are nice, and ours had a big graphic of OSV which I thought was a cool, unique touch. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast setup. I do wish they had more fruit than bananas, but they had eggs, sausage, waffle maker, yogurt, pastries, so a good balance. There is an outdoor pool but it looked small and oddly colored (and had the cleaning equipment cord in it) so I wasn't sure if it was even open though people were sitting outside of it. The room instead of having a closet had a closet rack right next to the bed. That's not a big deal that there isn't a separate closet, but it was SO close to the bed you had to turn sideways to not bump it. In the middle of the night if you need to get up, you tend to forget then hit your shoulder. They should have had the bed farther from the wall if they didn't want to make a separate area. Or hand it a little higher maybe? It was a poor design. The other major issue was the air conditioning would only go to fan or heat, and it was a sweltering day. The fan was not going to cut it. We asked if a maintenance guy was around (apparently there was no one else but the receptionist) or to change rooms (which apparently were all full despite it being 8 pm and the parking lot almost empty). Maybe that was true but it seemed like the response was mostly "there's nothing I can do about that." My boyfriend finagled with it and eventually got it to change settings although the light for "cool" didn't work. The hotel was uninterested in our problem. So if I came to this area again, I would still consider staying here if the price was low. It's near a lot of stuff and the rooms were fine. It's just very "okay."

Used to stay in the suite years ago. Went back to visit family and the suite was all redone and really nice. Beautiful bathroom, open French doors to separate living room with pull out bed, bar, fridge, microwave, 2 TVs, hot tub, shower, huge closet, over looks the lake. Hardwood floorsThis one didn't have the balcony though...and there was some minor issues, bathroom door popping open, sinks clogged, some mold..

Don't judge this book by it's cover. You might not be impressed when you drive into the parking lot or checking in at the smoke smelling lobby but the rooms were very nice. Newly updated. Clean. Comfy beds. Lots of other extras. We were also luck enough to get a room overlooking the river.

Our adoptive parents introduced us to this jewel of an area and to this awesome hotel. It's clean, inexpensive, quaint and very comfy. You can't ask for more!! Great views. Across from the best Old Sturbridge Village experience ever!!

I am surprised at the bad reviews I have seen on here. We stayed here one night on the way to New Hampshire because it allows dogs and was inexpensive. We called before we got there and were told they had a room available. I had had a bad experience with a Super 8 before so I was very skeptical about staying there but I looked at the room first. When we got there the desk clerk (a young woman) was on the phone with a customer having problems with what sounded like a complicated reservation. The clerk was on the phone with her at least 20 minutes at least! I felt like she could have put her on hold for a minute since it was clear that there was nothing she could do to help and the client had to speak with a manager. Our room was on the second floor and had a little balcony. The room was clean and the furniture was in decent shape. It smelled clean, which is really important to me. Our room had a view of the pool and the river which is nicer than the average motel. The rate was cheap and it included a continental breakfast and make your own waffles plus bakery whole wheat bread. There was a dog show in town so there happened to be a lot of dog owners there. I did not hear any barks or noises in the rooms next to us. Guests tended to walk their dogs in the grassy area out front and sadly some dog owners are rude and don't pick up but it was fairly well kept. We have had no telemarketing calls. Perfectly decent stay for one or two nights.

little things like laminate flooring intended to resemble distressed wood really did wonders for the wonderful decor.

Julie behind the desk is rude, inappropriate, unprofessional, and racist. Although there were more than 6 dogs staying at the place (one barked non stop and another pooped in the hall), Julie decided it was my trained service dog with no proof. Most likely because I was the only non white person with a service dog. She went as far as telling me that my dog is a comfort dog and not a service animal. She refused to see the documents I offered as back up. She also crossed the line when she approached the event organizer of the event I was there for to ban me from future events. Extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. I wish this annual event would move elsewhere that is not as decade, decrepit, and had professional hospitality people.

Someone spilled a drink on the floor so I cleaned it with a baby wipe and the wipe was black. The floor was gross. There is dogs barking all night on the right end of the building so I recommend the first floor in the back. The cleaning woman smashed a tablet she admitted to and never wanted to come in and clean down the floors, we had to ask. The ice machine is convenient and accessible. I wouldn't stay outside very long due to people drinking and other illegal things that go on at a motel. But for the most part the staff is friendly and it is workable, it's near a lot of fast food and other shops.

If you make the wrong turn, you could be on your way to Connecticut. What drove me to this location was the price. I cannot lie, the rooms are super cheap. And when a continental breakfast is included, it's pretty much a no brainer. I decided it was worth the travel. Parking was great, plenty of space. My only gripe was that it looked like nobody plowed and everything was iced over. No salt on the walkways of the property. I almost broke my neck trying to make it inside. I booked the room for 2 nights and it was a little over a 100 bucks. The room looked clean for the most part. I pulled back the sheets, there were no visible stains or markings. The bed was big but the pillows were flat and they were only three of them. The noise was moderate. The room was very creaky. The room made random odd sounds with the occasional door opening and closing loudly from next door. The tv had cable but decided to stop working at 10 pm exactly. The heat turned off a few moments after the tv. I called the front desk and was told that nothing could be done about it because the person that would be able to fix it, isn't there. I decided to go to bed. I slept all the way through the night. When I woke up at 5:40 am, I decided to get some breakfast. Breakfast starts at 6am, so I headed out to the dining area at 6am exactly. To my surprise, there was a group of people already waiting in the dining area. The people looked as if they were living at the hotel. They didn't look like visitors if you know what I mean lol. There were packs of instant oatmeal, old looking muffins and bread, coffee and a waffle maker. Someone was making waffles and forgot to spray the waffle maker with the Pam spray beforehand. The waffle burned. The man at the front desk came over with a facial expression of disgust decided to unplug and remove the waffle maker. He didn't clean it or say anything. I don't know if the waffle maker made a second appearance the next morning because I decided to leave in the middle of the night. The back of my shoulder was very itchy. I grabbed my phone and took a picture as I sat in my car. I couldn't believe my eyes. Chat GPT said that it looks like bed bug bites and I agree. All night we could hear the bathrooms being used by our neighbors, the doors shut so heavy and sounded like constant slamming. This wasn't just guests in and out by the cleaning crew as well that started very early in the morning. Slamming the from doors, closet doors, you name it they were aggressive with it. The "complimentary breakfast" was individually wrapped pop tarts, breakfast bars and mini donuts with a coffee machine. And our "clean room" wasn't so clean with the light of the morning. Hair and other things lined the bathroom floors, the microwave and fridge had seen much better days, a third of the nozzles on the shower head didn't work, random toilet paper stuffed places...look at the pics and decide for yourself. Also, not all of the outlets worked so we woke up to uncharged devices. On the plus side the bed was actually very comfortable, the ac worked almost too well, the shower got hot (but pressure lacked) and the towels (though not soft) were HUGE and dried very well. There also was a keurig in the pantry, but nothing to use with it.
