Graduation weekend in Worcester, hotels were so expensive. Tried to save a few bucks and stay here. Boy was that a mistake. You'll read on various sites that it's very clean. It's not. We arrived late, very tired, but had to clean the place first to make it livable. You'll also read in reviews in various sites that the breakfast is surprisingly good for a budget motel. It's not. It's paltry and stale. Even the coffee sucks, watery and weak. The rooms look nice online due to a recent remodel. If you leave the lights off and squint your eyes, yeah it looks nice. We were also woken up by our upstairs neighbors several times, though they weren't being especially loud. Just walking in their room. Normal footsteps are not only audible but somehow amplified to the ground floor rooms. All this would be fine if it was $60, but it was over $300. read more

I am between a 3 and a 4 but there were a few issues that affected me that maybe others will luckily avoid. This hotel is a great location to visit Old Sturbridge Village, which is a mile or so away. There is plenty of parking, the rooms are nice, and ours had a big graphic of OSV which I thought was a cool, unique touch. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast setup. I do wish they had more fruit than bananas, but they had eggs, sausage, waffle maker, yogurt, pastries, so a good balance. There is an outdoor pool but it looked small and oddly colored (and had the cleaning equipment cord in it) so I wasn't sure if it was even open though people were sitting outside of it. The room instead of having a closet had a closet rack right next to the bed. That's not a big deal that there isn't a separate closet, but it was SO close to the bed you had to turn sideways to not bump it. In the middle of the night if you need to get up, you tend to forget then hit your shoulder. They should have had the bed farther from the wall if they didn't want to make a separate area. Or hand it a little higher maybe? It was a poor design. The other major issue was the air conditioning would only go to fan or heat, and it was a sweltering day. The fan was not going to cut it. We asked if a maintenance guy was around (apparently there was no one else but the receptionist) or to change rooms (which apparently were all full despite it being 8 pm and the parking lot almost empty). Maybe that was true but it seemed like the response was mostly "there's nothing I can do about that." My boyfriend finagled with it and eventually got it to change settings although the light for "cool" didn't work. The hotel was uninterested in our problem. So if I came to this area again, I would still consider staying here if the price was low. It's near a lot of stuff and the rooms were fine. It's just very "okay." read more

We had been driving since Saturday night about 830pm. We found the hotel about 11pm Sunday. They only had suites left. I didn't care, my daughter & I just needed sleep. The room was disgusting. The floor felt like someone had just come from the beach, so much dirt. The bathroom floor had black film or dirt behind the door & under the towel rack. I found a dead cockroach on the flood beside the bed. There was also some kinda bug by the microwave. The view through the sliding glass doors was beautiful but the runner to the sliding doors had a bunch of dirt and a couple bugs. There was also a stain or something on the bed sheets. If I hadn't been driving for the last 24 hours I would have called the front desk but I was exhausted & needed sleep. The next morning we just left. Definitely not worth the $170 I paid. read more

This is a wonderful location however the hotel is full of refugees currently!!!! I rented for a 10 am wedding and I got no sleep that night!!! There were several babies/children running through the parking lot unsupervised. The National Guard has no control over them!!! There was banging and jumping in the rooms on side of me and above me well past 1 am. The concierge desk can't do anything about it! My complaint was answered with 25% off!!! This was a very affordable motel to rent with two adults and a dog. Booking the king studio here. The outside does not look very appealing and almost looks very trashy as there is a lot of litter and dog poop all over their lawn as this place allows dogs but not maintenance enough. But when you go into the rooms I will say I was very impressed for the price. All of the electrical works I didn't have any issues with certain lamps not working, the AC works and heat. Water works perfectly fine. Bed is comfortable. The only downsides I have with this place was the service I was given before and after my stay here. I had used them in December of 2022. I was bringing my dog with me, as I was checking in I was explaining that my dog was only going to be here for part of the booking so I wasn't charged for time she wasn't there for. The employees at the time were I'm assuming Hindu. It was very hard to understand them and one of the male employees there said that everything's all good they will charge me for the full visit and the full fee with the animals and afterwards they will take off a part of the fee after I check out. By the time check out came, there was another employee I don't know his name but he was a white bald older man with glasses , he checked me out but he never mentioned anything about the pet fee being taken off of my transaction as my dog did not stay the entire vacation but I was charged as if she did. I had to bring it up to his attention and he was extremely confused and very rude and he said he would figure it out and he sent me on my way. Few weeks go by and I never get the money back or a phone call. I ended up calling a month after my visit to figure out the issue because they said that they would refund me my money for the pet fee and they never did. Luckily I was able to get that money back and figure out the issue but I just wish that there was more communication going on. Other than that I had a great time here there are plenty of great restaurants and diners close to this motel. You also have a CVS literally right next to the building for anything quick that you need during your travel and stay. read more

When we pulled into our parking space, the workers threw junk into their pickup and it bounced out onto the hood of my car. 2nd, the room needed a good sweeping. 3rd, their online advertising said there would be a view of either the river or pool. We got CVS. 4th, my biggest complaint. The TV had only 4 channels and one was Spanish. I called the front desk and complained, she told me she would come up and check. She never did. We got back later that night we still had the same problem. I called the desk again. The man said he couldn't help, but I should do it myself. After about 45minutes I got it, but by the time I got it was to late to watch anything. Can't and won't recommend it. I called back on Monday the man said he would look into it and call me back. While it's clear that the rooms have recently been renovated, I have to knock points for the following reasons: The mattresses felt like laying on box springs. Way too firm, with virtually no cushion. Woke up with pretty bad back pain. Not world-ending, but avoidable with a slightly more comfortable bed. The walls were paper thin. We could hear the COPD coughing in the neighboring room until that man finally fell asleep. But soon after he was out, a crew of partying youngins returned from the bar. I was out by then, but my wife couldn't sleep until they passed out. The shower pipes were screaming about 5 minutes into a shower. It was so loud, I had to shut the shower off and take a "camp shower", only turning on the water when it was time to rinse. And finally, I know Continental breakfasts are becoming a thing of the past. But when there's coffee in the lobby from 6-9am, at least make sure it's warm. It was a rough enough morning with the back pain from the bed. I didn't need the added insult of cold coffee from a hot thermos carafe. We might be using this town as a stopping point between Maine and Maryland in the future, but not in this Super 8. PS The staff was perfectly nice and professional at check-in. read more

Had high hopes when the front desk attendant was so sweet and helpful, and then I saw our room. Absolutely filthy! The bedcovers had old blood, the baseboards were fuzzy with hair and dust, cobwebs and old stains covered the ceilings, urine stained the toilets and the bed lamps flashed once but would not turn on. The shower gel was empty and the shampoo dispenser almost empty but had no push pump, however it was covered with dirty handprints from what I can only assume was due to past guest taking off the lid to scoop it out. The fridge was making slippery condensation on the floor. When we wiped the area with a towel- the towel turned black from how filthy the floors were! Don't let the lake view trick you. I've been staying here on my way to Maine for several years, and it's always been clean, welcoming and attractive looking. This year, however, the place is seriously run down. Several families actually living here long-term. Trash all over the grounds, kids bicycles piled up, kids running around screaming, I had to move strollers left out on the upper deck out of the way to get into my room. Many of the room number signs have been scribbled over by kids with markers. The beautiful hanging baskets of flowers are gone, and the stairs and upper deck are filthy. Paint chipped or peeling everywhere. Many of the doors to the rooms look like someone went at them with a battering ram. Inside: Broken desk chair, dresser drawers that are stuck shut, mystery stains on the furniture. I have to flush the toilet 2 or three times to clear it, and I don't think the floor has been swept in quite a while. Scuffed and peeling wallpaper. The door in my room has half torn stickers all over the back of it. There's also a slightly funky smell to the room. No breakfast anymore, just coffee. I know the government requires hotels to put up refugees/migrants when other housing is not available for them, so it's not all their fault. I'm just sad to see what used to be a delightful hotel so deteriorated in the last year. At least the beds seem clean, and the desk clerk was friendly and helpful. I hope the refugee situation will be resolved soon. read more

Don't judge this book by it's cover. You might not be impressed when you drive into the parking lot or checking in at the smoke smelling lobby but the rooms were very nice. Newly updated. Clean. This is such a great little surprise of a motel to stay at. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and I realize that for the (lowest in the area) price, you might not expect much, but I was more than pleasantly surprised with what I got for the money. The room was newly renovated, small but very comfortable, with high vaulted ceilings (2nd floor), mirrors that make it seem much larger and modern, with the juxtaposition of interesting wall art that reflects the history of the area and nice wooden floors. A very cool room. Nice amenities like lots of outlets and lighting options (including bright LED book lights for both beds were unexpectedly cool touches. A fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board were nice additions to the flat screen, HD TV and the quiet, efficient and quick ventilation and heat. Great water pressure and quick hot water made things comfortable as well in the small, but we'll appointed and clean bathroom. Nice variations of pillow sizes and comfortable beds made for a very relaxing nap between basketball games. The continental breakfast is a great choice for free as well, with lots of options, including make your own waffles, toast, Thomas' English Muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, two cereals, cinnamon rolls, and several beverage options. Very nice. Add in the friendly and helpful staff and this a really great value for a very comfortable room. It's a no brainer to stay here. read more

Unbelievably rude manager...I asked for a crib for my son during my stay. The first one I was given was broken. The second one had urine stains on the mattress. Needless to say, I never used it. Forward one week, when I check out -- I am handed a receipt by the manager that includes a charge of $10/day for the crib. I tell him I was never told there was a cost. He says very curtly that it's not his fault I don't know their policy. I tell him I never even used the crib because it was so filthy, and he says that was also my choice. I called Super 8 customer service to complain. I was told someone from that location would get back to me in two weeks or less. It's been about two months now... All that aside, the rooms look nothing like advertised on their website. They're clean, but old and completely rundown. Plus, the walls are paper-thin and I could hear when the TV was on in the next room. Oh, and don't be fooled by the offer of a "lakeside view" room -- the lake is disgusting and littered with trash. I am surprised at the bad reviews I have seen on here. We stayed here one night on the way to New Hampshire because it allows dogs and was inexpensive. We called before we got there and were told they had a room available. I had had a bad experience with a Super 8 before so I was very skeptical about staying there but I looked at the room first. When we got there the desk clerk (a young woman) was on the phone with a customer having problems with what sounded like a complicated reservation. The clerk was on the phone with her at least 20 minutes at least! I felt like she could have put her on hold for a minute since it was clear that there was nothing she could do to help and the client had to speak with a manager. Our room was on the second floor and had a little balcony. The room was clean and the furniture was in decent shape. It smelled clean, which is really important to me. Our room had a view of the pool and the river which is nicer than the average motel. The rate was cheap and it included a continental breakfast and make your own waffles plus bakery whole wheat bread. There was a dog show in town so there happened to be a lot of dog owners there. I did not hear any barks or noises in the rooms next to us. Guests tended to walk their dogs in the grassy area out front and sadly some dog owners are rude and don't pick up but it was fairly well kept. We have had no telemarketing calls. Perfectly decent stay for one or two nights. read more

Ended up coming here late at night after opting to leave a horrible motel down the road. We were pleasantly surprised and considered spending an extra night just because the rooms here are so nice. At about 80$ a night they aren't the cheapest in the area, but they are still fairly affordable. Seriously, the rooms are gorgeous. I wan't to decorate my home like one of them. We had a room with two queen beds and in addition to being wonderfully decorated, a working minifridge, microwave, and coffee maker were placed against the far wall alongside a small closet and the door to the bathroom. Indeed, the latter was spotless and had insane amounts of pressure when flushing the toilet. You could lose a hand. My only complaint was the breakfast they provide. Apparently no one bothered to set out any milk that morning (despite having cereals and other items). When the front desk attendant was asked about the milk, they insisted it was there to the point of arguing. If I have the misfortune of being in Sturbridge again, I will definitely make a reservation to stay here. read more

A fine place to stay on a road trip. This was a good experience all around. We arrived late at night, en route from Maine. Check-in was easy. We got a 2nd floor room, with a balcony overlooking the pool and the lake. The room had a very high ceiling and wooden floor. It looked nice inside. Beds were firm and comfortable. The AC kept us cool all night. There were 4 of us--2 adults, 2 kids--and it didn't feel crowded at all. The only odd thing about the room was the floor sloped, like it was warped. The bureau, on which the TV sat, leaned forward as a result, and the TV looked like it could slide right off and onto the floor. My wife stressed about this, but my nonchalance proved to be the better option, because nothing bad happened. The breakfast was pretty good for a motel. Scrambled eggs and sausage, plus the usual waffles/oatmeal/cereal/toast/yogurt staples. The hostess replenished everything immediately. I would certainly stay here again when passing through. read more

The steps going up to the second floor look like this might be an old run-down place but when you got in the room you were very surprised how beautiful it was. The rates were inflated for the Brimfield flea market but we expected that. We were a family of 4 and were very comfortable in the size of the room I like the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel and the breakfast was more than adequate and started at 4 a.m.so the guests going to Brimfield flea market could get there early. Our room was spacious with two queen size beds and the decor was very nice and we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again! read more

First room they put us in: smoke detector beeping. Next room: heat was shut off (temp of 46 in room); while waiting for heat to go up, saw either black mold or mildew in toilet, and toilet would not flush. As for the room we stayed in: the bathroom fan was falling out of the drop ceiling, and didn't always turn on. Shower rod was rusty. Ceiling light was poorly installed (large gaps). Reading lights had no bulbs. The top door lock had been replaced: you could clearly see the holes from the previous lock. Significant gaps around front door (when temperatures were in the single digits). Red paint from outside of door had splattered onto inside of that door. Wood flooring: significant gaps. Overall shoddy workmanship. Bathroom shelf: person's name and what appears to be dob and dod. After all the trials of trying to get a room, we settled on "crappy" only because we didn't want hassle of finding another room. Walls were thin; could clearly hear all the noise outside. No discount was offered. At check-out, no discount was offered after providing complaints (as above). Employee genuinely encouraged me to write a bad review on Yelp. I will acknowledge that, during check-in, staff were polite and did keep trying to find accommodating room - although they seemed to expect that we would just give up and go elsewhere. I would never stay there again. And, if anyone asked, I would advise them to find somewhere else. Even if this meant in a different town. read more

Best continental breakfast I have ever had. Scrambled eggs, sausage, choice cereals, and a make-it-yourself waffle was easy to wash down with a fresh pot of coffee. The room was toasty warm during the worst winter storm on record. Very affordable and it still offered a scenic view from my balcony. My only regret is that I didn't get to enjoy the pool because it was covered with 27 inches of snow. All around excellent experience. read more

Was in town one night. I had reserved a king room at a very reasonable price. My wife was a little skeptical due to a bad experience we had at another Super 8. When we checked in I asked if they had any upgrades available, especially a whirlpool room. The clerk said they did, but I would need to pay the difference. I declined and she gave me my room assignment. When I got to my room I was surprised that not only did I get a whirlpool room, but it was a King bed Suite. The room was very clean and spacious. My only complaint was the deck/walkway felt a little unstable. read more

Booked through Kayak.com and paid about $245. Left for my trip to the motel and when I checked in they charged another $208 saying it was a security deposit. Tried to charge me a pet fee for $25/night even though their website said $10/night. Went to Check out and the pet fee didn't go through because of the security deposit. The woman then refused to check me out so I could use the security deposit to pay the over doubled pet fee. And after I called my bank they said they could release the $208 if the motel sent them a faxed release form. I informed the woman of everything she had to have on the fax. She refused to send the fax. Then my boss agreed to give her a credit card over he phone to pay the pet fee. She refused to accept that without a faxed authorization form. My boss ended up talking her down to the online $10 pet fee so I spent my last $20 on that...now I'm stranded in Sturbridge with no way to get to Union Station to get home. The only reason it's not 1 star is because other than the check out my over all experience there was pleasant. read more
