We were in town for a lacrosse tournament at Springfield College and came across this Holiday Inn Express. Rooms were clean/large, staff was wonderful/accommodating and great continental breakfast options. Indoor pool and gym included. Free parking and plenty of it! I will say that the area around the hotel is not the safest, so try not to walk around at night. The doors to the hotel are locked from 11pm to 7am for guest safety. You can unlock doors with your key. Overall had a great stay and would stay again if visiting Springfield!

Holiday Inn Express Springfield was a clean, safe escape from the surrounding homeless population. The staff was fantastic, and very accommodating. The breakfast was high quality with a good selection. And the room was clean and comfortable. The elevators are fast, and the hotel overall was very quiet. It is located right across the street from the Mass Mutual Center loading dock, so a quick walk on a nice day, and you'll be to the front doors in no time. I 100% Would stay here again. I had tons of display products sent to the hotel and when I checked in (1:00am) they pointed them out and told me I could come get them whenever I wanted. This made my job even easier. The next morning when I went to get them, the staff was there to help me load my car with a smile. My interaction with everyone was positive and I never once felt slighted, not even for a second. I used the Holiday Inn computers to print some rerun labels for my stuff. The computers were a bit slow, but with a little patience, a non issue. The parking was free and plentiful, but was a solid 100 yards away. Still closer than any casino parking. The parking lot was well lit and had room and easy access. Access to the MGM Springfield was only a short walk. Really a great stay.

bed bugs stay away! Rude staff except security guard no offer for room change until we decided to leave early we didn't want to risk getting bit in that room also! The Manager was extremely rude! I will call corpirate. Even after we showed the bites they did not care. We were told we never know what people bring into the rooms! I would not recommend this hotel!

4 stars for the hotel; room is clean, laundry out of service. Parking lot is sketchy (consistent flow of addicts waking around your car). Reception was annoying; been awhile since an American asked me about how cold Canada is and do we live in igloos??! I've never even seen an igloo, Toronto weather not that much different than here... it's been awhile since I disliked a city as much as Springfield, happy to move on.

HIE is my go-to spot for most business trips and they can vary wildly in regards to quality overall throughout the east coast where I've spent much of my time in them. This downtown location is very special, a nice sized tower central to many things you may want to do for an EXTREMELY good price. Want to visit the new casino at a fraction of what a room would cost to stay on site? Take the few minutes walk over to the casino and sleep happy knowing you saved some coin to gamble with. The Basketball Hall of Fame is just a few minutes drive away, the arena where minor league hockey plays is within walking distance, along with many great restaurants. Ask for a room with a view of downtown if you can land it, the higher floors definitely have good sight lines. Service was great from start to finish. The front desk staff was uber friendly and the breakfast lady didn't stop talking all morning. I didn't use the pool but the workout room was decent enough with plenty of machines as long as it doesn't fill up with guests. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, not much else you can ask for in that regard. I did have trouble getting on wifi but it was likely my equipment. Parking was my only pet peeve, I ended up in a (free) lot with a 3-4 minute walk away, but no coverage if the weather is bad for your walk to and from. That's ok, I understand the issues surrounding services such as parking in an urban setting but the closer lots fill up fast so just be prepared for that.

I loved it here! The location is great if you're going to MGM, there's a pool, the hotel is only only a year old and the staff were so helpful for the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Our room was upgraded so I didn't stay in a regular room, but I peaked in a couple that were getting cleaned and they looked adequate. It's not a high rise so there are no beautiful views, but there's free parking and that counts for something in a city! We went down right before breakfast ended but they were still willing add more pancake mix to the machine after breakfast was supposed to end so that I could have pancakes. She even made them and brought them to my table after getting the machine back up and running! I definitely seeing us staying here again in the future. In the right weather we'd even walk to the casino since it's only about a half mile away. Hopefully we can check out the pool in the future too! The hotel was clean and had everything we needed! There are also computers in the lobby if you need to use one. The WiFi always worked well while we were on the property. Oh, returned to this review a day later to add how comfortable I found our king size bed and pillows! Usually one or the other bothers me, but I was so comfortable here, slept well there!

The free breakfast is meh quality but hey, it's nice to have someone else cook for you regardless. There's a pool too that my kiddo enjoyed. The hotel is 2 minutes from Holyoke mall that includes a Target. We got a frozen skillet meal from Target to make for dinner our first night there. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Edited to add: As of August 2022 the staff was not masking, nor were masks required in any area of the hotel. The guests were mixed on masking. I had a serious unresolved booking problem there for my intended stay August 9-12, 2024. At check-in I was told, in sequence, "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left" for any part of my intended stay. The sequence of having been told 4, then 2, then no rooms left was especially frustrating and seemed to me retaliatory for my mild expression of dismay, consternation, and frustration. My daughters and I arrived late from Logan Airport due to Debby weather, delayed rental car, and rain on the turnpike. We were attending my parents' funeral on the 10th. I understand that all people aren't going to be best friends; however, this night manager showed zero empathy. And worse, with the cockamamie room "countdown," I felt the manager exhibited personal animus. We stayed at an alternative--a nearby Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott--which we booked ourselves. Even so, on August 12, I received from Homewood Suites by Hilton an invoice and a paid receipt for all nights of the stay, August 9, 10, and 11. The only time spent at Homewood Suites by Hilton was in the lobby at 4 a.m. with the vindictive night manager counting down "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left."

We already booked a room at a different location before we knew the MGM was there. We utilized our MGM cards (MGM really supports Veterans) for parking (did not have too as it was free-LOL). We found out they had a free party going upper level of garage with a cover band. We listened to the band, grabbed some food hot off the grill for a reasonable price and prepared to view the fireworks from the cover of the garage. Mother -Nature had other plans, weather turned nasty, band shut-down, and for safety we were moved to lower levels. We still saw the fireworks and exiting afterwards was not terrible. I have been to many casinos including MGM and even though casinos probably have drug deals - they are by people smart enough to be discreet and not talk about it in the hallways and elevators. Not here! Springfield has a lot of Violence and drug activity and I am surprised that MGM built a casino there. They should have kept their brand at Foxwoods. Inside the casino the layout is pretty tight, slot machines are very close together. We didn't try any restaurants because we had just come from dinner. We didn't stay long - didn't like the vibe. We had gone to bed early - after a dinner that was notable in that we thought it was a recommended one that was close - but it was a ways away on the freeway. Not a big deal, but curious. Once we headed up to bed it was like a circus started. There were young kids running along hallway, screaming, etc. After 9 it turned into a super noisy bath - felt like it was in our room and was loud, and the water seemed to go on forever. I'm not sure of the correlation, but this morning all we wanted was a hot shower before we hit the road - water ran, ran, ran - no hot water.
