As soon as I checked in my experience was mediocre. My room was prepaid, yet I still got charged. It took a week to get the money back on my card. The room itself was ok. Nothing special. When I used the pool there were a bunch of dead insects floating in the water, which is strange because the pool is indoors and enclosed. The breakfast was room temp and tasted kind of stale. The last straw for me was when I was checking out. I went to leave out of the side door. I had two rolling suitcases in my hands and as soon as I opened the door, a homeless man pushed past me saying hi over and over. You could tell something was off. Come to find out, he broke one of the automated doors at the entrance and the police had to be called. I'm glad I left that day because the situation made me feel unsafe. read more

We had a very nice overnight stay here. The front desk folks were pleasant. We had a room on the 5th floor. As others have noted, this is in an older area of downtown Springfield. The Mass Mutual Center is across the street, and MGM casino is a couple of blocks away. We were able to walk to a fantastic restaurant, Nadim's on Main Street. There is quite a bit of restoration going on of the historic city blocks. Our room was comfortable, the beds were great, and the bathroom was squeaky clean. We found a parking space in the smaller lot right behind the building. The included hot breakfast was ample, with a good variety of items. This is definitely one of the better Holiday Inn Express properties we have stayed at, and I am a platinum IHG member. read more

This experience was SO BAD I don't even know where to begin . Checkin : front desk definitely needs training on customer service and welcoming guests , they are more like robots . We get a room that was clean and presentable ( that's why the 2 stars) but that is basically it . We checked in around 2:30pm and after a long drive needed some rest , well that wasn't possible because the door slamming and running in the hallway lasted a while . Then at around 6pm the room next door to us had music so LOUD you could definitely hear it in the entire 4th floor . Gave it some time so see if it would stop , well it didn't !! This lasted till midnight , called the front desk twice and no one answered . At around midnight the music stopped and we could have some peace for a few hours until around 4am when the guest from the same room next door started either fighting or god knows what , sounded like slamming doors , kicking the door and punching going on . After about 20 minutes I called the front desk yet again and after ringing for a LONG WHILE , someone finally answered the phone . I explained the situation since the earlier issue with the music and now with the noise and the fact that we had absolutely NO SLEEP . The response I got was oh you should have called us earlier ( I did twice but NO ONE ANSWERED ) than the guy who answered the phone tells me he is going to send someone upstairs to see IF THERE IS ANY NOISE AND DISTURBING. Seriously ??? You think I just decided to wake up at 4 in the morning to call the front desk and complain about an imaginary problem ??? UNBELIEVABLE... that is all I have to say . Breakfast is decent but nothing special , however it's cold . Not sure why the sternos were not on . Checkout : no one asked how was our stay nor apologized for the fact we had NO SLEEP is peace in this place . I am pretty sure I'll be going back to MA . But definitely EVER STAYING HERE AGAIN .. do yourself a favor and find another hotel , there's plenty in the area . read more

I was over here for the weekend at a hockey tournament and was very unhappy with the service. We were supposed to be in a block of rooms with our teamates only and we werent. The staff constantly complained about us even though there was no where to gather. When we asked to book the conference room so we don't disturb other guests, we were told it was " out of use ". There was no place for parents or teamates to be and the staff was constantly telling us we were " too loud ". A hotel that does'nt have the amenities to host a large group of people should have notified us when making our reservation. There were many other hotels that were bigger and would have gladly accepted us. The staff was exetremley rude to our parents and we wont ever be coming back. We were in town for a lacrosse tournament at Springfield College and came across this Holiday Inn Express. Rooms were clean/large, staff was wonderful/accommodating and great continental breakfast options. Indoor pool and gym included. Free parking and plenty of it! I will say that the area around the hotel is not the safest, so try not to walk around at night. The doors to the hotel are locked from 11pm to 7am for guest safety. You can unlock doors with your key. Overall had a great stay and would stay again if visiting Springfield! read more

Holiday Inn Express Springfield was a clean, safe escape from the surrounding homeless population. The staff was fantastic, and very accommodating. The breakfast was high quality with a good selection. And the room was clean and comfortable. The elevators are fast, and the hotel overall was very quiet. It is located right across the street from the Mass Mutual Center loading dock, so a quick walk on a nice day, and you'll be to the front doors in no time. I 100% Would stay here again. I had tons of display products sent to the hotel and when I checked in (1:00am) they pointed them out and told me I could come get them whenever I wanted. This made my job even easier. The next morning when I went to get them, the staff was there to help me load my car with a smile. My interaction with everyone was positive and I never once felt slighted, not even for a second. I used the Holiday Inn computers to print some rerun labels for my stuff. The computers were a bit slow, but with a little patience, a non issue. The parking was free and plentiful, but was a solid 100 yards away. Still closer than any casino parking. The parking lot was well lit and had room and easy access. Access to the MGM Springfield was only a short walk. Really a great stay. read more

Reception was annoying; been awhile since an American asked me about how cold Canada is and do we live in igloos??! HIE is my go-to spot for most business trips and they can vary wildly in regards to quality overall throughout the east coast where I've spent much of my time in them. This downtown location is very special, a nice sized tower central to many things you may want to do for an EXTREMELY good price. Want to visit the new casino at a fraction of what a room would cost to stay on site? Take the few minutes walk over to the casino and sleep happy knowing you saved some coin to gamble with. The Basketball Hall of Fame is just a few minutes drive away, the arena where minor league hockey plays is within walking distance, along with many great restaurants. Ask for a room with a view of downtown if you can land it, the higher floors definitely have good sight lines. Service was great from start to finish. The front desk staff was uber friendly and the breakfast lady didn't stop talking all morning. I didn't use the pool but the workout room was decent enough with plenty of machines as long as it doesn't fill up with guests. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, not much else you can ask for in that regard. I did have trouble getting on wifi but it was likely my equipment. Parking was my only pet peeve, I ended up in a (free) lot with a 3-4 minute walk away, but no coverage if the weather is bad for your walk to and from. That's ok, I understand the issues surrounding services such as parking in an urban setting but the closer lots fill up fast so just be prepared for that. read more

I loved it here! The location is great if you're going to MGM, there's a pool, the hotel is only only a year old and the staff were so helpful for the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Our room was upgraded so I didn't stay in a regular room, but I peaked in a couple that were getting cleaned and they looked adequate. It's not a high rise so there are no beautiful views, but there's free parking and that counts for something in a city! We went down right before breakfast ended but they were still willing add more pancake mix to the machine after breakfast was supposed to end so that I could have pancakes. She even made them and brought them to my table after getting the machine back up and running! I definitely seeing us staying here again in the future. In the right weather we'd even walk to the casino since it's only about a half mile away. Hopefully we can check out the pool in the future too! The hotel was clean and had everything we needed! There are also computers in the lobby if you need to use one. The WiFi always worked well while we were on the property. Oh, returned to this review a day later to add how comfortable I found our king size bed and pillows! Usually one or the other bothers me, but I was so comfortable here, slept well there! read more

Clean decent hotel. Offers a nice options at breakfast too. Showers are weak. Windows are single pane and you hear every sound outside, even when on the upper floors. Location is good for walking to places but it does not feel very safe area. At night there are numerous motorcycles and cars with loud exhausts and even louder sound systems zipping up and down the street. Sleep quality - the main thing you are there for is difficult. Not sure if it was gunfire or backfire at one point. Can't recommend because of this. read more

Even for the price and location (not the nicest but walkable and close to museum and MGM), this hotel is so sketchy and DIRTY. Our entire room reeked like mildew and the entryway was so sticky our shoes made a peeling sound walking in. If we weren't busy with a wedding for most of our less than 48 hour stay, I definitely would have cancelled and gone somewhere else. Also the bed was broken and leaning to one side. read more

This was a great stay especially for the price! The hotel isn't extremely large but is a great spot to rest your head after a long night at the nearby casino. When I saw nearby I literally mean a two minute walk to the casino. My family and I stayed here and we had a few rooms ( 2 of them were two queen beds and one room was a two queen suite). The rooms were clean and spacious. To me the most important thing is that the AC works and it's roaring and this AC was. The suite was like the two queen room but it had a pull out sofa and didn't feel like the traditional one bedroom suite. The breakfast had a nice spread of pancakes, omelettes, cinnamon rolls, and oatmeal. It was a run of the mill hotel breakfast. The pool wasn't extremely large, but it was nice to have one nonetheless. My only problem was that it closed early at 10pm. Parking was a lot that was about half a block from the hotel which was convenient especially for a place downtown. read more

Long overdue review from last month! This is a review is in gratitude to the General Manager- Mr. Kandhari who was incredible and showcased kindness when he didn't need to! I reached out to him last min as I needed to come to the area last min for business reason (for a couple weeks and needed a couple rooms). Well he was very responsive and offered an awesome deal based on length of stay/ last min booking. When we checked into our rooms- they were fantastic and exceeded our expectations especially when its not considered a high end Hilton brand; but I will tell you the rooms and ambience say otherwise. The night staff and cleaning ladies were pretty awesome also! Thank you for an accommodating extended stay, I highly recommend this location for business and/ or vacation!! read more

Checked in late laxt night but as we drove up it looked trendy and very clean. Desk clerk was friendly and check in was quick. 5th floor room as I walked out of elevator it was so bad of the weed smelling. At least my room was extremely clean and no weed smell. Jamal and Kelly were amazing. They went above and beyond changing our King suite to a double Queen suite, after finding out we were staying there 11 days. Jamal went out of his way to help us move our bags from one room to the next, my mom uses a walker and I had a walking boot. It's a great location and near some great eats. Everyone from front desk to room attendants to breakfast attendants to security are SUPER helpful, professional, and courteous - particularly Nelly and Genesis at the Front Desk, and especially D and Grisele at breakfast. Honestly, probably the BEST complimentary breakfast I've seen at any hotel - always fully stocked, beautiful presentation, area kept CLEAN, and the girls were constantly cleaning, replenishing, but ALWAYS smiling. The rooms are spacious and most importantly COMPLETELY CLEAN - nowadays, most industries are so short-staffed, so to see that this hotel has kept its standards in all metrics is fantastic. Management must be top-notch to lead such an incredible team, GM deserves much accolade! Stayed here last week and the entire staff was awesome. I do forget the names of who helped me specifically, but I believe it was one of the front desk ladies as well as the sales manager. The breakfast was really good and the room was very spacious with amazing products as well as probably the most comfy hotel beds I've ever stayed in. I would give a way higher rating but yelp won't allow it. If you book through a third-party, please be patient with the staff as the third-party companies aren't exactly easy to go through. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend to anyone to stay here. read more

Good prices for a very clean hotel. Room was spotless which is always a definite perk. Neighborhood is a bit suspect but it is what it is. The parking was a bit nerve racking. It clearly states in front of the hotel that it is for hotel patrons only. I wanted to be totally sure so I asked the gentleman at the counter and he said it is for drop-offs only. Amazing hotel experience for a Museum stay! The difference between a great hotel and a terrible one is whether or not the staff cares. The staff at this hotel was so attentive, kind and genuinely CARING of giving great service and clear pride in running a fine establishment. Regina, who must be one of the managers, was out in the breakfast room every day, greeting guests and generally making everyone feel welcome. We stayed with our two kids to visit the Springfield Museums (Amazing.) I chose the hotel because it is a block from the museums and has a pool. What I didn't know was that it is also a block and a half from the Main Street, where most of the dining is. In other words, perfect location for our purposes. As soon as we walked in, people started going out of their way to be kind to us, especially my 2 and 7 year olds who were bouncing off the walls after the 2 hour car trip. The room was spotless and comfortable. My kids spent a lot of time in the pool, and the second one of us went to the bathroom, there was an employee out with a mop. The breakfast was a hotel breakfast, decent but again, very clean and well attended. My kids enjoyed the pancake maker. Ok, I did too. After the Seuss museum, it seemed kind of magical. Every single person we interacted with was exceptionally kind. Overall, this was one of the best-run hotels I've stayed at. All the people who work here seem to really care about giving the guests a quality experience, and it shows. Thanks everyone! read more

I have been to many hotels , this is the only hotel that I have stayed where you go down pass the front desk and nobody greets you. I went to the Sherton town the street, where my cousin was staying, I was warmly greeted. This is all about first impressions. You need to retrain your staff. read more
