The Grand Hotel - Dinning area

    The Grand Hotel

    (4 reviews)

"A Rural Treasure Worth the Detour"…read more If you're looking for a true escape from Atlanta's chaos, the Grand Hotel in Hogansville is the antidote. This place isn't just a hotel -- it's a slow exhale. Nestled in a quiet rural town where the loudest noise is a train in the distance or the cicadas at night, the Grand Hotel feels like stepping back into a calmer era. The building itself, dating back to the late 1800s, has been beautifully restored without losing its soul. Each of the nine rooms has its own private bath and is filled with period antiques that make you feel like you've wandered into a Southern novel. But don't mistake "historic" for "stuffy" -- everything is fresh, clean, and lovingly cared for. My favorite part? The wrap-around porch. Sitting there in the evening, rocking gently in a chair while the sun dips behind the trees, you forget that Atlanta is less than an hour away. Time slows down here, and the world feels very far away -- in the best way possible. The staff radiates small-town warmth, happy to share a story about Hogansville's history or point you to a tucked-away café. You don't just feel like a guest -- you feel like a part of the community, even if just for a night. If you want big-city nightlife, keep heading north. But if you're craving rural charm, history, and a touch of class, the Grand Hotel is where you'll find it.

Clean and just beautiful room, with antiques and a sparkling clean bathroom. Took a nice long hot bath the next morning. (great water pressure and plenty of hot water). Quite appropriate I must say. Keep up the good work!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My check-in time was scheduled for…read more3:00 PM, but when I arrived at 4:00 PM, my room was not ready. I was initially told to wait, and when I returned at 4:15 PM, I was informed there had been an issue with another guest and that it would be another 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this delay extended significantly, and I did not receive access to my room until approximately 5:23 PM -- over two hours past the guaranteed check-in time. Traveling with a child made this delay even more difficult, and this level of inconvenience is unacceptable, especially for a stay that was LESS than 24 hours. My interaction with General Manager Nicole Jones was extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and rude!! When I inquired about compensation for the delay and inconvenience, her response came across as dismissive and unprofessional, which only added to the frustration of the situation. To make matters worse, when I finally entered the room, it was not in acceptable condition. The carpet had visible stains, raising concerns about cleanliness and calling into question why the room required such an extended delay! Between the delayed check-in, poor room condition, and lack of appropriate customer service from management, I will NEVER be returning to this location.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience needs to be shared…read more We had a reservation at Home2 Suites by Hilton LaGrange for Easter weekend to visit my husband's 84-year-old aunt. Just two days before check-in, we were informed that she tested positive for COVID-19. Out of concern for her health and the safety of our household--including a child still in school and working family members--we made the responsible decision not to travel. We immediately contacted the hotel to explain the situation and request a one-time exception to their 4-day cancellation policy due to this unexpected medical emergency. We even had documentation. Unfortunately, what we were met with was a complete lack of compassion and professionalism. When I spoke with the manager (Nicole), I was told she could not speak with me because there was already a case, and the call was abruptly ended before I could even explain the situation fully. This was not a case of poor planning or last-minute convenience. This was a health-related emergency involving an elderly family member with COVID-19. Policies are important, but so is basic human understanding--especially in situations like this. I am extremely disappointed in how this was handled and hope that someone at a higher level within Hilton will take the time to review this situation and do what is right.

My room was well appointed and it had outlets galore! I never had to look far to plug in my phone or steamer or any other gadget - a rarity in hotels. It was quiet overall but there is construction nearby which could disturb day sleepers. Worried about the most germ filled item in rooms..the remote? No worries, they even provided a disinfectant wipe for it! The staff were upbeat and friendly from the front desk to the Bistro, it was very impressive. The only other issue was the carpet near window was wet so there is leaking somewhere. Other than that they are great and so so close to five stars in my eyes!

The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the town square, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. For those who prefer to stay in, the Bistro downstairs offers a decent selection of food. While not gourmet, the meals are tasty, filling, and perfect for enjoying in your room or in the bar/bistro area with a bit of camaraderie. My room was quiet overall, aside from some chatter from a group enjoying the firepit area directly below my room. It wasn't loud enough to disturb my rest, and I didn't mind it. I stayed in a King room with a sofa, which was perfect for two people. The room was clean and included standard amenities like a fridge, microwave, desk, TV, ironing board, and more. The bathroom featured a spacious walk-in shower stocked with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the stay even better!

I was thrilled when I saw the room, since it is huge! The decor and aesthetic are clean and modern, not dated. The kitchenette is solid, with a stovetop, full-sized fridge, and even a dishwasher! I took the opportunity to cook some meals here instead of eating out, and it was a good experience that made me feel at home. I love that they worked with the Container Store to provide high quality, ample storage options in the room, so I had lots of place to hang up my clothes and avoid wrinkles! I also liked how the enormous TV connected to Netflix, Prime Video, and other apps. The TV channel selection itself is good too. The bed was a tiny bit firm but I still sunk into it each night and didn't have problems sleeping on it at all. The bathroom was clean and well-lit. I didn't hear much noise at all, either outside or from any weird mechanical or AC systems (they can rattle or do similar things at older hotels). The free breakfast wasn't a huge spread, but it had some unique items and of course coffee, juice, etc. This isn't enough of a con to knock off a star, but this corporate park area is spread out, not really walkable to much, and not in the middle of any "action." But it's near a lot of larger streets and highways, so that is OK.

It all depends on what you're looking for. I gave three stars as my most honest assessment, but I…read morewanted to give five for the oh-so-perky owner and the amazing breakfast she provides! Reality hits hard, though. If you want to stay in a historical inn with a knowledgeable, on-site staff who can tell you all the historical details ("hand-laid tile," "Art Linkletter and Bette Midler stayed here!") ~ if you want content for stories to tell your friends or perhaps include in your novel ~ if you delight in sharing a leisurely well-prepared tasty breakfast served on china with your fellow guests, then this is your place! If you want modern, efficient, spotless, do not stay here. We arrived to an empty desk and an empty adjoining ice cream/fudge shop. A phone call brought the owner downstairs from the third floor, where she was working. No elevators. Very old and grand stairs, bedecked with unfortunate artificial garland and more unfortunate 1980s stenciling on the antiquated (beautiful without stenciling) walls. We were greeted and given the details for our stay (parking, "social hour," breakfast.) The amenities package includes breakfast (so worth it!), access to the social parlor (can be skipped) and the "social hour" (canned Coke products and ice set out). Now, to the rooms. The online pictures tell no lies ~ just don't let your romantic heart interpret those pictures! Yes, those bedspreads DO look like they came off of your grandmother's bed. In 1920. The stack of towels in the bathroom in the homey dark brown color? Methinks perhaps the top ones get laundered? The bottom of the stack may be clean, but I don't think they were laundered recently. The staff make it clear on check-in that they will rectify any issues immediately, but I didn't have the heart to ask them to come up, move the beds, dust the back of them, and vacuum between the beds and the wall (a chore perhaps last performed for Art Linkletter's visit?) I believe the innkeeper/owner's greatest joy is serving her guests as they sit together at breakfast and converse. She truly shines here. Her food is served at the appropriate temperatures, and everything is delicious. The cheese grits are tasty, but not as rhapsodic as the Southern Living article indicated. This experience doesn't really happen anymore, and the experience alone is worth all of the things. Eight (on our morning) guests discussing what brought them to the area, what their lives are like, what they're excited about and concerned about ~ all while hot coffee is being poured and fruit being exchanged for biscuits and bacon and sausage. Good morning indeed! In this day when things move fast and people find themselves on opposite sides of so many things, this quiet breakfast in this quiet town with people alike and different was a bit of bliss. So this was a difficult review to write ~ accommodations? Not as clean as I'd like, a communal living room (home of social hour) that could use a thorough cleaning out (depression glass, tchotchkes galore), in need of refurbishment and a very strong vacuum. Open windows might help a slightly musty smell, if that's possible with windows that may be painted shut. But the experience ~ you have to stay here to believe it! If you're in the area (pretty big if ~ population of the town is around 465 in the 2020 census) and you're up for an experience as opposed to convenient, modern, cookie cutter hotel stay, check this place out! Don't miss the breakfast!
