If you have a big rig, there's ample parking for you! But this was a plain and simple pit stop. I'm always amazed at the cleanliness of these rest stops - 95% of the time they are clean. They have toilet paper, soap, and paper towels and/or hot air hand dryers. I've rarely seen the attendants who maintain these areas, but I am grateful for them!

I am not traditionally handicapped, but due to an old leg injury, I sometimes have trouble standing from a seated position after long drives. The bars in the handicap stall have been helpful a time or two. Ok, here is the problem. The toilet paper holder is on the far side of the stall. Some thoughtful human put a loose roll next to the toilet but it was almost empty. Unless you have go go gadget arms, its impossible to reach the toilet paper holder. I will say this, the sign outside said no handicap access in that building, but there was another building that looked to have handicap access avail.

This location is a tad smaller than other locations, especially in the gas pump area Still large compared to your standard stores, but smaller compared to other Buc-ees locations. We got to experience the ole "brisket on the board" as soon as we walked in, and of course, we decided to scoop up a few sammies to eat when we reached out hotel. It was the perfect welcome snack for us! Outside of the brisket, we went ahead and scooped up hotel room snacks and drinks. We planned on doing that at a store near the hotel, but when in Rome... Inside to outside was well kept and clean, and of course the service was stellar! Overall, solid Buc-ees location!

There are several covered picnic tables outside to choose from. In the lobby you can find a lottery vending machine, something I haven't seen at any other welcome center. It seems to be Georgia's response to the casinos in the Mississippi states. Bathrooms are decent. Not a paper towel in sight, which is environmentally friendly but the air dryers are the old, slow, push button style. The info center had just closed when I came through, but I noticed they had cornhole boards inside. This is probably a nice, happening place when it's open.

Picnic tables shady trees are on cement slabs, so visitors don't have to worry about resting their shoes in mud or dirt. The Welcome Center was staffed with a friendly and knowledgeable woman, and, after asking her where caves/caverns were located, she gave tips about caves and caverns that we could visit in Alabama. There are a lot of maps and guides in the Welcome Center to take and read up on places to visit and things to do. There is a big back porch that has many rocking chairs where you can sit in the shade and look at a grassy area.

This rest area is located along Interstate 85 southbound between Opelika to the north and…read moreMontgomery to the south. This is near mile marker 44.5. One thing to note is that due to the ongoing pandemic, there are signs on all the doors to buildings that masks are required to be worn while inside. My visit here was on July 28, 2021. When coming into this rest area, cars will go to the right while trucks will stay to the left. Like any rest area, the main reasons for stopping in were to use the restrooms, as well as get out and stretch the legs after being on the road for quite a while. Coming into the restroom building, it wasn't too busy in there, but most were not wearing masks despite the signs on the doors. I had mine on at least. The restrooms were clean and maintained. Everything was in working order and no supplies had run out during this visit. They do have an attendant on duty during the day for questions and such, but you will need to ask for them as they will be in the back until someone asks for some help. This is likely due to the pandemic. After finishing in the restroom and getting cleaned up, I came back outside and checked out the grounds of the location. There is a sign just outside the restroom building that has information about the forests of Alabama and the Tuskegee National Forest, which this rest area is located in. I looked at and read the info there and it was definitely an interesting read. From there, I did some additional walking around and saw a nice big tree with pink flowers blooming on them. I went over by the vending area, but I had no intention on getting anything at this point. Overall, this was a very nice rest area. Everything was working as intended and had some nice views of the trees and info about the forests. If your travels take you this way, be sure to make a stop here since rest areas will be far and few between.

There is no power in the parking lot, so I was roughing it in the RV. Whatever, I got to sleep! When I awoke in the morning after a good few hours, the welcome center was locked up. Yes, the restrooms are only available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Note that this is not the standard rest area at the side of the highway.
