I was on-the-fence about going here because of the negative reviews, but I decided to give it a try anyways. The reviews also gave me a preconceived idea of low expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised. My technician (Tan) was gentle and nice. It was quick and he did a good job. They quoted $50 for a full set (short length) over the phone, and I was charged $50 afterwards. I tipped 20% because I was satisfied with the service. I went in the morning and the vibe was relaxed. The crowd was an elder generation. With all that in mind, I believe that either the salon took note of the bad reviews and made adjustments OR the mass (of customers) aren't really techy people and the good reviews don't make it here. read more

So bad. Attitude was bad, service was bad, quality is the worst. Dayton Nails did an atrocious job on my 15yo daughter's nails and were rude about it the whole time. They charged her $55 for what was said to be $40, which shouldn't have cost anything for the poor quality. Her nails were loose as soon as we left the store, out of shape, and not what she asked for. Overall Dayton Nails was a terrible experience for my daughter, her friend, and myself. Admittedly, I ignored the reviews because I did not want to drive to Carson and even said "let's spend locally." I made a mistake and urge you not to make the same. Lady in the picture had a trash attitude about their poor quality and the guy in the picture is who butchered my daughters nails. The lady told us to come back to have them fixed, but the attitude was so garbage that we'd prefer to make the drive elsewhere and spend another $50-70 to have a professional handle their shoddy workmanship. Do you like verbal abuse? If yes, run, don't walk to Dayton nails because they will fulfill your every need! If you respect yourself, your self worth, and hard-earned dollars, please run away. I've gotten my nails done probably every 3-4 weeks since 1998 and I have never been treated with such disdain and outright rudeness at a nail place. Truly, I'm not sure how they are still in business with such a sub-par human as angry "Jason." The polish was so watered down that there were clear spots where there should have been color. I tried 3X to address the issues but was told to "GO WASH HANDS!" It's a over/under situation... they are overpriced and I am underwhelmed. read more

These people have NO concept of customer service. I am from out of town and wiil be for about 2.5 months and needed my nails done. Dayton Nails was less than a mile from where I was staying. I have TAP on my nails and can have them filled with acrlyic. So I go in the shop and was greeted and asked what I needed done. I told them that I just needed a fill. Was told to go have a seat in #5, which I did. And I waited with nothing more spoken to me. Finally a young man comes and puts down a towel over the work space. He then disappears, with nothing more said to me. And I waited. Finally a young girl approached, took my hand and told me was going to take the color off. I informed her that there was not color to be removed. She told me that she knew. She then started up the dremel machine and I again informed her that there was no color to be removed, that I had TAP on my nails. She again told me that she knew and was going to take the color off. I took my hand back and told her that if she knew then she would not be trying to take color off my nails. She then stoped and walked away, clearly aggravated and speaking in her native language. The other technician asked me if I had TAP on and she said no probIem. I waited another 15 minute and finally asked anther technician if someone was going to be able to help me. She said yes and then said something I was not able to understand, And I waited, with nothing more being said to me. I looked around and no one was even close to finishing, I waited another 10 minutes then left. Communiction is everything. I was not in a hurry, I had all day and knew that because I was a walk in that I might have to wait; no problem. But to leave me sitting there with no explaination is beyond rude. I have never experienced a place of business with such poor customer service. I live in Dayton and I am from a big town and I recently transferred to small town living. I walked in and asked a question, "when can I come back to have my nails a little more rounded? Her reply was "no". That's not what I asked!! I have been a customer from the first day they took over that business. I was a faithful customer for years until a few months ago when I really had enough of their rudeness their talking about clients in their foreign language. They hire rude people to come to work for them. I was charge $25 for a fill then two weeks later I went in and a new employee did the fill and charged me $40. I said they sure raised their prices and he said 'It has always been $40." Enough is enough. There is no conversation, the environment is somber. I will never go back even though they are just down the road from me. They are not clean, always there are nail dust on their equipment because it has not been washed from previous customers...guess they don't know how disease is spread. I wanted to give it a couple of days before I posted my review because that's usually the biggest time frame of having issues. So far I've actually had no issues, and I'm still in love with my nails. Walking in the place was stereotypical for a nail salon, welcoming and approachable. Some of the staff members were cold and kind of unwelcoming but alas you never know what's going on. I enjoyed the process. I would happily go back! Update: just wanted to say, I am now 13 days out and my nails are STILL doing wonderfully!! :) I am EXTREMELY pleased and have not had quality like this in a VERY long time! read more

This is by far the best Quality nail shop in the STATE. I've been getting nails for years and this Is my favorite. When my nails are done here, they last. No lifting, no chipping seriously you can go a month between fills!!! I travel a lot and I will wait because I prefer quality. My biggest complaint with nail techs/ shops is LIFTING. If they begin lifting before week 2, I believe that poor quality products are used. 2nd Polish chipping, if the Polish chips within 2 weeks I think it's been diluted. Their color choices are perfect and she shapes my nails the way I like and keeps them looking natural. If I could give this salon no stars I would. I was waiting out in the car as my 14 year old daughter went in to get a full set of nails. When my daughter came out she told her the manicurist charge her 65.00 and my daughter said the manicurist made her give her a tip. Being 14 my daughter agreed. If you do a good job you should get a tip, not forced too. I walked back in and asked why she forced my daughter to give her a tip. The manicurist lied and said she never told my daughter that. So I believe in trying to give local businesses a shot before going elsewhere. I have really tried with this shop. Today was it for me though. I called and made an appt because I k ow they are busy and prefer to have appts. I walked, in they asked if they could help me I stated that I had an appt. and then I waited. No response at all. Yes they had people in the chairs and waiting so I get it they were busy. However they never responded, it was so awkward, just standing there and not being told it would be a few minutes or that they were running late, nothing, crickets. Worst salon ever. In the beginning they were great. As the owner always said time is money, money became more important than great customer service. I have had my appointment cancelled without a phone call, my mother has shown up for her appointment only to be told sorry no nail today, remodeling. She had an appointment! The nail tech was and is great, but the young girl that paints the nails is horrible. The owners husband is loud, obnoxious and combative. When I go to a salon I don't want to watch sports or listen to his expertise rhetoric. If you are looking for a salon that cares about their clientele, keep looking this is not that place! read more

I have gotten a new acrylic set done here and several fills. I have never had to wait very long and have been very happy with how things turned out. My only complaint is they do not prefer to use color change gel and that is my favorite. I have gotten very fun colors done here and they do a nice french manicure. I have also gotten a pedi here and they did a nice job. They are fairly quiet and not that talkative except the one young lady, is why I gave them a four instead of a five (and I wish they liked color change gel). I found their prices to be similar to other salons in this area. read more

I called in for an appointment at 3:15pm so the "lady" offered 1pm I said no she offered 3pm and then 4pm mind you the appointment I needed was only 15 minutes after 3pm and when I told her if she could or not she just said come whenever and hung up on me!!!! I'm new too the area and wanted to find a nail salon local for me to go too. The first time going wasn't so bad, they weren't busy at all so I was first up. The gentleman who did my nails was nice and polite.... But honey! Let me tell u about the older Asian lady ( I believe she's the owner) was very rude. Her comments, the expression, everything about her was rude. The price was over want I expected to pay just for a pedi NO gel was almost 50.00$$ so when I asked was the price right the lady gave me a rude look multiple times and was super petty about it. Second time I went I had a appointment and when I got there the chairs were full. I sat down and waited no need to push them they know I'm here right??!! WRONG! If I could give this place negative stars it wouldn't be sufficient enough to say how BAD their service is. This place gave me the worst nail experience of my life. I walked in and first thing I asked was the price on powder removal and the lady said $5. I agreed and asked for a simple gel manicure after the removal. I made sure once again before they began the manicure that the price was going to be $20 for the manicure and $5 for the removal and the lady confirmed once again. Then she had me choose a color and sent me off with a teenage girl that isn't even licensed. She began to remove my powder and once she was done she filed my nails and before I knew it she was putting the polish on my nails and I asked her if she was going to remove my cuticles because I had asked for a gel manicure. She went off to tell me that when she files my nails it removes the cuticles. By this time she was halfway through polishing my nails and I was so upset I just wanted to get out of there. So I asked her if they were charging me $20 just to polish my nails and she said the filing was the "manicure." I let her finish and when it was time to pay they charged me $30! I tried asking the lady that confirmed it was going to be $25 why I was paying five extra and she didn't have an answer for me. She just kept yelling $30 $30 and her and another guy started speaking in their Asian language and embarrassing me in front of all the clients. I was so embarrassed and upset I just gave her the money and left. My nails look horrible! Cuticles are long and Polish is everywhere, bumpy and it's starting to come off two days after they were done. I am not one to write bad reviews but in this case I think it was absolutely necessary, and I don't want anybody else to be ripped off like I was. Decided to give them another chance - bad idea. Today I was there and there were no customers at all - asked for a pedi. There were 8 empty chairs and they seated me in an OLD chair that had no massage function that worked properly. Really? This chair did not even have a side table for my drink and phone. Throughout the pedi - the lady and her husband have their child there (toddler) and although the child was good, he needed attention from time to time so she kept getting up to tend to him. Highly disappointed! Look my mom to get a pedicure and within 15 minutes they were already painting our nails. I asked how long their pedicures were and they told me 30 minutes. I guess this is my own fault considering I'm used to getting a pedicure that on average is 1 hour or more. They let my feet soak all of 10 seconds and scrubbed feet all of 20 seconds. For the 2 of us o pretty much paid over $60 for a polish change. Plus trying to engage in conversation was a struggle they spoke all of 1 word to us and were extremely unfriendly. read more
