The Sunnylands/Annenberg tour at Rancho Mirage on May 30, 2018, led by Christina with Ernesto driving, was amazing, and will be a part of continuing reflection and reverie. Janice Lyle's masterpiece graces my small condo coffee table! Reliving this fabulous experience will be ongoing through the beautiful photos and fascinating history. Christina was a living "Wikipedia" of fascinating geographic, historic, scientific, sociological, etc etc etc information. We were treated graciously and well while traveling. Ernesto followed off-freeway scenic roadways from Riverside County into the Coachella Valley for a very comfortable drive. While at Sunnylands and touring the spectacular estate - exuberant, skilled, informative guides and staff treated guests royally! My husband has heard about the Annenberg Estate, Sunnylands, for years, as being a mecca for presidents, highly important political figures and celebrities, and generally a fabulous home. He was especially intrigued (as a golfer), with the information that there was a nine hole golf course on the estate. He insisted that we go on the tour of Sunnylands with Daytrippers, and I thought, "Well another Greystone Mansion or Elvis Presley's estate in Palm Springs, which were fine, but when you've seen one, you've seen them all", and I wasn't terribly thrilled about the trip. BUT - it was wonderful! Unbelievably beautiful! The art work in the enormous main house was worth the whole tour itself, and we can't say enough about the wonderful achitecture, the lovely grounds and golf course. The tour is great! TAKE IT! Terrible, terrible trip to the 2012 Rose Bowl Parade. We got there ok even though the bus was obviously having problems (would lunge forward and brake on it's own). Everyone felt it and some of us were nauseous. The video they were going to show about the history of the parade and how the floats were built didn't run. We were told not to use the toilet on the bus and the portable toilets provided by the city were filled to the rim. Obviously, Daytrippers could not do anything about the portable toilets but the reason to have one on the bus is so you can use it. We went to the grandstands and had a good time watching the parade. When we got back to the bus before noon, the driver was trying to jump start the battery. She knew there was a problem with the bus - why didn't she get a mechanic out there as soon as we arrived. We spent the next 3 hours in limbo (they are sending a new bus from San Diego, there are no buses available, they are sending a mechanic, he should be there in 30 minutes - actually took 2 hours). He tried to jump start the bus for about 1/2 hour but it wouldn't turn over. Finally, he put in the batteries he brought with him but they didn't property. In the meantime, we were not allowed to leave the area for food because a bus might show up any time. Finally, 3 hours later a replacement bus arrived. The driver was afraid to use the broken bus. We all loaded ourselves and our gear onto the replacement bus - guess what "no air conditioning" It was 81 degrees on the bus and many of us were dressed very warmly. We didn't make the usual stop at Tom's Farms on the way home to get any food. I asked the Tour Director 3 times for water and never got it. She finally said the driver left it on the bus that wouldn't run. Daytrippers could have offered some free sandwiches or a refund but nothing. I think the Tour Director was concerned about if she would get tips or not - here's my tip "don't use them". read more

very thankful for having a nice event to attend on a holiday with a bunch of nice people, and I am generally not a nit-picking quibbler but allow me to point out a few things about The White House in Anaheim CA where we dined on turkey dinner thanksgiving day. the dinner was adequately large but quite dry. The gravy boat came, not even full, one for a table of ten people. we were forced to ask for "extra" gravy but it wasn't extra, what they served was only enough for about two people out of the ten. The cranberry sauce finally arrived about halfway through the dinner and again I couldn't help but stare at the Oliver Twist-sized portion, we should have all said, Please sir, could we have more? Although the rest of the food was ok, why serve white margarine instead of butter at this prestigious restaurant where guests have paid to have a nice dinner? margarine instead of butter? you have to be kidding. The tour itself was ok also. Our tour guide, however, paid lavish attention to some guests while totally ignoring others. Have to admit that she was solicitious and very helpful when one guest fell, coming back several times to make sure the guest was all right. But when I asked the tour guide if I could have a single seat since I was traveling alone, instead of giving a gracious sorry and an explanation which let's face it would not be hard to do, she just said my seat number was number 39. from then on she ignored me. Daytrippers has some really good guides but I guess they're not perfect. I've had almost a universally good experience with Daytrippers. This was not one of them. read more

Just returned from the train ride to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and Scenic Sedona trip. Leslie and Ernesto were awesome. There were 27 of us for six days. We had a great time and made new friends. Leslie was so afraid we would go hungry so she kept giving us snacks. She made sure we were always comfortable and that we were having a great time. Ernesto made sure we had enough water all the time. He also made sure we got everywhere safely and that we exited the bus without falling off the steps. The train ride to the Grand Canyon and tour was our favorite day even though it was a very long day. The Grand Canyon caverns were so interesting. Seeing Bob in the caverns was amazing. The hotels were lovely. Most of the time we had great food. We never went hungry. We were able to do plenty of shopping. Everyone was courtious and respectful. Thank you Day Trippers for putting together a great trip. read more

The service at Day Trippers is unbelievable. I went to a pre-trip meeting the other day and had a flat tire just as I pulled into their beautiful new facility in El Cajon, the staff called AAA for me and had the tire changed while I was in the meeting. They even located a Discount Tire store for me so I could get the tire replaced before heading back to La Jolla. They are so friendly and helpful. The staff is very organized and professional. I can't wait for the trip. It is a 6 day trip to Oregon. Kudos to Day Trippers, it is not easy to please a bunch of seniors. read more

Have been on many trips with Day Tripper & mostly satisfied. We were scheduled to do the Hollywood Bowl Trip on July 3rd, 2013 to see Josh Groban. On June 23 my 50 yr old daughter law passed away in New York. I called Day Tripper on June 25th to let them know we would not be taking the trip as we were needed back East. I was told by Kathy that they had a LONG WAITING LIST & we will probably get our money back. Many of our friends also were on the trip. We were told by our friends in two separate buses that EVERY seat was occupied. When we got back from NY I was told by Robin they had two empty seats which were ours so we would NOT be getting our money back. She said we did not get the insurance. I informed Robin we were never OFFERED to buy the insurance. After weeks of struggles with Robin she insisted that out of 2 buses only our 2 seats were not sold. Someone is LYING to us & for less then $300.00 Robin & Day tripper has lost a valued customer. We have been traveling with them since 1992 but she slapped us in the face by LYING about having 2 seats vacant. Is it worth losing it, Robin?????? Muffie read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! When calling to inquire about the trip I explained that I had a handicap in which I needed to sit in the front of the bus. This was our first experience with DayTrippers. I even offered to come to the first loading of the bus to assure that I could sit in the front. I was told that seats were assigned and that they would assign me a seat and no one would be in that seat. The Daytripper employee said that there were only a few signed up for the tour and the seat assignment is in order of the reservation. Bottom line...my seat was in the MIDDLE of the bus. I was led to believe that my needs would be met and they were not....do NOT believe the sales pitch. On top of being sick because my seat was in the MIDDLE of the bus...not in front, we watched the driver run a red light in front of us as we were exiting for the pick-up park and ride location. The driver also crossed a double yellow to enter the car pool lane on 5 freeway and was on and off the accelerator the entire trip. read more

Customer Beware...We booked a Valle de Guadalupe Wine Tour and looked forward to a wonderful day to celebrate my Mother's Birthday. Unfortunately my Father was hospitalized three days prior so I called the company to explain the situation. Despite my multiple requests to credit our account for a future trip or negotiate a reduced rate, I was told that they would not and could not because the tour wasn't sold out and the company would incur a loss. Needless to say we were disappointed by the lack of empathy and humanity. While we understand profit margins and cancellation policies, where is the customer service? The company didn't even flinch or say, well...maybe we can work something out so you'll come again. What about being human and promoting a positive company image that encourages future customers to book a tour? Beware, if you book a trip, this outfit will show little mercy even in the midst of a family crisis, money over morality. A shame. read more
