So excited to get a Chicago pizza puff! I grew up eating these and really miss them moving to Arizona. Service was great, fun old diner style with tons of Chicago memorabilia. Staff was amazing. Was not a big fan of the poppy seed bun. The fries were good and fresh cut. They were a little undercooked for me (I like a little crunch on my fries). The Italian beef combo sandwich was good but not great. The beef by itself was tender but had no seasoning. Got a side of gravy to dip and that was average. Something was missing (a little salt and seasoning would help). Now for the great news. The hot peppers were excellent and highly recommended. I have eaten here many times over the years. I would eat here more often if they were closer. There is 6 tables and 5 or so high stools in the back. Lots of Chicago sports figures and posters. So...I tried to come down here a few months back on a Saturday, and when I arrived they were closed. Not sure why, but I was sad. Fast forward a few months, and I was in the area and a hot dog sounded good. I pulled in the drive thru and placed my order for a hot dog with mustard, onions and sport peppers, and I also went with a combo sandwich with hot peppers. How were they? Delicious! Hot Dog- Pretty standard dog. A tad small, honestly, but tasted fine. Good snap. Good depression dog. Combo Sandwich- Now this thing was amazing! It was Italian beef and a sausage in between a great roll, topped with hot giardiniera. The beef was nice and moist, and the sausage had a great bite to it. The roll was wet, but it stayed together until the last bite. Truly, a fantastic sandwich and the best "combo sandwich" I think I have ever had. Bonus- You get fresh cut fries with your dogs too! The fries were fresh, crispy and tasted great! They were wrapped up in with the hot dog, not sure if you only get them with dogs? Or if they gave me a little extra because I ordered the combo sandwich too? Whatever the case, I could have definitely eaten more of them. They were great! Overall, happy I made it here. It was a day that my boyfriend and I were home and wanted grub, but it was early and we were not certain we wanted to cook. Perk, they open at 10:30 and they have a drive through. The frys were so undercooked that I think between the three small frys I had there was maybe 2 pounds of old fryer grease. The best part was the fryer grease was old. The biggest sin of all was when I ordered the combo with cheese and it had digesting nacho cheese on it. I had no idea that someone would even think to put anything on a combo except provolone. The hot dog is 4.70$ because they order the smallest possible Vienna hot dog. The prices are good because its trash. I would have asked for an refund but clearly they need the money more than me. First off the guy that took our order was extremely rude. At that point I should have walked out but wanting hot dogs for lunch I stayed against my better judgement. I have eaten at Dazzo's for years and watched the food decline into very poor quality food. The French fries were so grease and filled with oil that they needed to be patted with a napkin before eating and they were still horrible. My buddy took me in a couple days of ago because I told him I love old "Greasy Spoons". He has been a customer for a number of years and this is one of his favorites to visit. The old Chicago charm was neat to see in Glendale. The owners are obviously passionate about the windy cities professional sports team with all of the memorabilia (especially the 90's Bull's). We both ordered a double cheeseburger with a small fry and a large 32oz drink. I know this place is famous for its hotdogs, but my friend was insistent that I try their burger. It was decent, not great. Next time I'll definitely be trying a dog and hopefully can change this review to 5 stars. Our order was out LIGHTNING fast and the fries were piping hot, which is a must for me. Their homecut fries were awesome. My only complaint was the cheese on my burger. I dislike plastic Kraft style processed cheese. If there was an option (which there wasn't) for a slice of REAL cheese I would have opted for that. Had I known ahead of time I would have ordered it without. Not the end of the world, everything else was excellent. The prices were surprisingly good. For 2 dbl cheeseburgers, 2 small fries, and 2 large drinks it was less than $25. In today's economy that's less than fast food joints and the food here is far superior. Dang plastic cheese cost them a star. Next time I hope to rectify that by trying a Vienna dog. read more
