Dbq has always been a win! Very delicious flavorful reasonably priced BBQ! I'm sad it's just a food truck and only open for lunch because I don't get to have it nearly enough. Their beans are delicious and not too sweet but sweet enough and my favorite side is whenever they have the smoked pineapple! It's so delicious!! We have used dbq to cater for an event and it worked out great! Their brisket is spot on! The owner is super friendly and will remember your face if you go a few times. Lew's has quickly and quietly become my go-to place for lunch. Sure, it helps that the trailer is quite literally between my office and my house, so I can stop by and pick up some killer BBQ after letting the dog out. But the key there is the killer BBQ. Every weekday the menu changes, so you'll probably want to check out Lew's facebook page before heading there if you're particular about your choice of meat. I, personally, am not particular. Meat is meat, and meat is good. Here's a highly opinionated rundown on some common Lew's menu items: Tri-tip steak: If you like beef, this will blow you away. Tender, flavorful, and unlike anything I have ever had before from a BBQ place. Brisket/chopped brisket: The best in College Station by far. Always tender, beautiful smoke ring, and just chock full of smoky flavor. Lew's does not offer a BBQ sauce, but don't worry: nothing here is ever dry. Ribs: These have a rub or marinade that seems to consist of BBQ spices and applesauce. Like the steak, I have never had anything quite like them. One of the rarer selections, and not my favorite, but still excellent. Pork: My favorite meat selection from Lew's. Always tender, crusted with garlic and pepper. In fact, this is the best pork I have ever had -- anywhere -- let alone from a BBQ place. A must try. The sides change, but the staples of BBQ beans, cole slaw and potato salad are there most days. The potato salad is a little bit more processed than I would prefer, but delicious none the less. The cole slaw is addicting. (I suspect they put something illegal in it. Fine with me!) And the prices are great. Even a gut-stuffing 3-meat 2-side plate is under $10. If you're in town, please give this place a try. One of my biggest fears in life, and I have many, is that Lew's will find a better spot that isn't, literally, between my office and home. :) read more

Pretty good BBQ...not quite as good as Martins, which I rank below Fargo. But this is the best BBQ in College Station. They said they're always at that same location from 11-2 (er, or maybe he said they got there at 10am), behind the Aggieland Apartment Finders. The chopped brisket was excellent, with a deep flavor. The sliced brisket was good too, but the dryness was a bit more pronounced. Nice flavorful charred bits. The jalepeno cheese sausages were good. Unfortunately, I got these as their three taco plate and I recommend avoiding the taco plate due to the plain/tasteless/gummy flour tortillas. The BBQ-sauce-slash-pico-de-gallo was tasty, and the baked beans were fine. I ended up eating everything with a fork and trashing the tortillas. The menu options are limited, but if you're in CS and you're looking for lunchtime BBQ, give it a shot. And they cater on weekends. I highly recommend that they start brewing some sweetened sun tea, because it would go so well with such tasty BBQ. Canned beverages aren't the same. read more

I work on campus, and his truck is super convenient, the food is amazing, and the price is unbeatable. The ONLY problem is that Lew's is only around in his "usual" spot on Wed, Thurs, and Fri during the week. So, if you want Lew's on Monday or Tuesday, you may be out of luck unless you want to drive. Here is how it goes down. Drive to the intersection of the main entrance to campus and University. Look East. If you spot the big red truck, that is Lew's. As people have noted, meats and sides change daily. Here is a PRO TIP, however: If he has the bbq'ed pineapple as a side, GET the pineapple. Even if you are not normally a fan of pineapple on its own, it's just perfect in this form. Make sure to check his facebook page around 10:45-11:00 to find out what he has that day before heading over. read more

Finally had a chance to swing by Lew's BBQ food truck after seeing it several times on my bike. With other decent BBQ restaurants quite a distance from campus and with campus' own BBQ offerings being mediocre, I quite enjoyed Lew's BBQ filling in with decent BBQ at a convenient location close to campus. I ended up getting a two-mean, two-sides plate, and my two sides (potato salad and I think corn hash) were pretty tasty and fresh, while my two meat sides were juicy and filling. I'll definitely come here again, and look forward to trying their other offerings. And it was great chatting with the staff as they were prepping my food. read more

I'm not a huge BBQ fan, but do like it from time to time. I got the brisket with beans & potato salad. The brisket was amazing! I can't handle a lot of smokey taste on my brisket & this one was perfect. Not too much and not too little. It had a wonderful crust with a hint of sweetness. Amazing! The beans: I expected the taste of a canned baked bean and boy was I wrong! These were a wonderful sweet baked bean that tasted like they just came out of my mothers oven! Heavenly. The potato salad: I'm no potato salad pro. Shoot, I've never liked it enough to learn how to make my own. This was good in that my picky self actually ate it. It didn't have anything weird in it & I ate it all. I never like when I bite into potato salad and get a crunch of something unknown. None of that here! A surprisingly excellent lunchtime meal. It was ok BBQ! I asked for no fat and still got half fat in my brisket! Definitely needs some BBQ sauce it was so dry! I ended up dipping it in my sons green hot sauce for the taco truck! Which helped it go down by giving it flavor!!! Won't eat there again! read more

I was skeptical about how good bbq could be from a mobile trailer, but wow, this quickly became one of my favorite places to eat BBQ. I've eaten Lew's BBQ several times now and the brisket and sausage are some of my favorite menu items, but the potato salad and beans are both really good as well. I haven't tried the tri-tip steak but I keep hearing about how good it is; I guess I just haven't been adventurous enough to stray away from my favorites. Not only is the food extremely good, but the owner is actually a really nice guy. He unfortunately went to Clemson, but hey, we all make mistakes. He's a native Texan so I can at least give him credit for knowing what he's doing with the smoker and bbq pit. I encourage anyone reading this to venture out, try something new, and give this food truck a try. We enjoyed Lew's at New Republic Brewery last night. Woah! This stuff was gooood! Got the 3 meat\2 sides to share and a Barbacado. The brisket and chicken were tender and chock full of flavor! The brisket had a beautiful pink ring on it with amazing crust. The chicken just about melted in your mouth. That said, the barbacado was a revelation! Who knew grilled and seasoned avocado with brisket and baked beans would be so freakin' good?? We kept passing it around to friends who were left out cuz they ran out going "Oh man! You gotta try this!" I'm at home today with leftovers that were almost as perfect as yesterday, but I'm still scarfing them down. I also totally loved that he donates a portion of what he makes to the community; he tells you who today's recipient will be on the menu board. Where, oh where is Texas Monthly? Real nice folks. Having lived out of Texas for 8 years, we opted for Lew's over other traditional options. And we were not disappointed! I truly believe those who serve their meat w/o sauce show confidence, and this place does. Brisket was fatty and moist, with a good bark. Massive portion. jalepeno cheese sausage was acceptable. Having had jalepeno cheese venison sausage a couple of days ago, my standards are prob too high. It was good but generic, as were the potato salad and cole slaw. read more

It's right by my house, and after driving by one too many times, I decided to stop in. After reading reviews, I checked the Facebook page to see what the menu for the day would include. I ended up ordering brisket, smoked pineapple and potato salad. All were wonderful. The potato salad was perfectly sweet. The smoked pineapple was different than anything I've ever had at a BBQ place, in the best way. And the brisket has the perfect outer crisp and inner meat with a little fat.
