No where I know sell small red ear slider turtles except here. I bought one here 1.5 years ago but it had a disease and died. I live far but I came back today to get another one. Quiet hardworking Asian owner has lots of maintenance and keeping an eye out for security; so don't get mad at him not being overly sociable and distracted. Also Noticed he has exotic birds, critters, and a variety of fishes at fair prices. His selection is better then Petco or Magnolia Bird Farm. read more

This is a small pet store. Their primary focus is on fish, but there's also some birds, turtles, hamsters and stuff. Not a great place for a huge selection of equipment, but they've got the basics covered and good prices. They had a decent selection of fish for small mom & pop place. They did have one of the best selections of wood and rock that I've seen in these parts. More importantly, and this is what gets them the 5 stars, they have an all-star line up of Bettas. Yellows, whites, pinks, double tails, crown tails, etc etc. These aren't the sad little bettas you see at most other places. These are the bettas you tend to see at betta shows, or pay $20+ (plus another $20 Shipping) on Aquabid to import direct from Thailand. They were $15 here, and I was very happy. Every now and then you'll find a real nice/rare betta mixed in at other fish stores. But I've never seen so many at one place, and they had them all lined up at the counter. And they all looked healthy. No water stained dark blue trying to fight off fin rot or fungus. Nice clear water, and none of the bettas showed any signs of illness. So if you're looking for bettas that are out of the ordinary or something other that the typical blue/reds you see elsewhere check them out. It might also be worth calling ahead and finding out when they're getting their next shipment to make sure you've got lots to choose from. read more

Not a bad fish store, 90% of the store is dedicated to fresh water fish. They had some rare ones too. Decent reasonable prices. The cons? Some of the prices are right off of his head instead of being listed, a lot of the fishes do not have there name listed so you have to ask what they were. Walked in the dude was so inhospitable.. I was the only customer in the store and this dude didn't even say hi even tho I said hi to him.. walked around for like 15 min didn't get asked if I needed help or anything, so I found the fish I wanted had to walk to this guy that wasn't doing anything, stood there for like 30 sec he was jus ignoring me so I asked him hey can you help me and he said " What do you want ? " and I was like bruh !?? So I told him what I wanted and we got it rung me out didn't even say thanks.. and it seems like he puts random prices on fishes doesn't sell them by 1, he bundles them and if you get 1 extra he jus names a random price ? I have spent hours at this little pet store looking at the fish and hamster's, they even have baby chicks here some times! I have noticed what someone else pointed out, not all the prices and names are visible and you do have to ask. From what I have seen there are quite a few regulars that come in and know exactly what they are looking for. I also noticed the all sales final with the pets and must comment. This is a mom and pop shop they don't do the sales and purchasing volume that petsmart or other large pet stores do, so its harder for them to offer that kind of guarantee. I have spent a small fortune here myself the shop keeper helped me design and build my first fish tank (10gal) and I have had it for about 2 weeks now and its running great! I have bough a number of different fish for my tank and they are all still very alive and active :) Also picked up 5 Betta's already (and counting ^_^ ) for around my office and home they are all doing quite well as well, One is even a rare white/pearl Half Moon Betta which is my personal favorite. As for no guarantee on the pets this does not bother me because the clearly are taking good care of them at the store. Workers are very knowledgeable and friendly! I have nothing bad to say about this place and I have been a freshwater fish keeper for over 20 years. This place is one of the best fish stores in Orange County. When I moved too far away from the fish stores in Alhambra this place became my LFS. Iv'e purchase quite a few fish from this shop and they have all been very healthy, and grew very well. They're food prices are great too. Iv'e saved a mint buying frozen bloodworms, and dried shrimp from here. Not as big a selection as Tong's but the owner, and his son, are good people and very knowledgeable about fish, and more helpfull than the people at Tong's. I came here all excited thinking that I could get a hamster to be apart of my family and I was wrong. As I walked in looking for the hamsters I saw them in a tiny aquarium and there was so many. It looked like an infestation and I was so heartbroken. Honestly I ended up feeling sick after seeing all the hamsters cramped in a small cage and it looked as if they weren't being taken care of and left there to reproduce. On the bright side if you are looking for a baby baby hamster that literally probably just popped out they are the ones for you. But sadly they are only robos and there aren't much options. But warning, don't bring the kids around because if they saw what I saw with all the hamsters being squished in a tiny cage, where some look dead and some are not even moving. It ends up making you want to feel sick and not even get one. But I think my main problem was that I thought a smaller pet store would actually take care of their animals since its small, but I didn't expect them to be keeping them there letting them reproduce and still leaving them in the same cage. this place is the closest fish store next to my house and I'm glad! I met the owner's family member name Steven through my friend Sean and he's been super helpful! I recently bought a 100gallon saltwater tank from here. they don't have a lot of variety of saltwater fish but if you know what you want, they can order it for you. or if you need help deciding what fish is good for your fish tank, Steven will give you some ideas! also he's is very knowledgeable about fish so you can come by and ask him anything! I come to him with all my fish questions, and I have A LOT! lol he usually works Friday afternoons and all of Sunday. Ever since I began keeping betta fish I have been frequenting this little shop. They sell birds, fresh water and salt water fish, hamsters, tortoises (if you ask for it), and almost all the accessories for the hobby. The owner is very patient and helpful. He knows how to keep betta and showed me that he kept his betta fish with a couple of tetras or red platies. He also gave me useful suggestions on how to set up my tank. The shop carries VT, CT and half moon bettas in clean water and the shop owner constantly switches them to keep them active. I have also purchased red platies from the shop a while back and the platies have now produced fries. This shop will be my go-to place for future fish supply shopping. If I could give no stars I would. Any person who knows fish would KNOW THAT BETTAS CANT BE WITH OTHER COLORFUL FISH! I walked in and saw a male betta in what looked like 2.5g tank with other male guppys! As if that wasn't enough he had a big sorrority of female bettas in one small tank. I would say there were at least twenty of them or more, and they all had stress stripes. The birds don't even have millet spray, and finches didn't even have Timothy hay. What the hell? First went in to look around and ask questions on what we would be needing to purchase as a first timer. Explained we had a 5 gallon tank and are inexperienced. He asked what fish and I said "oh we're not buying until next week, just prepping." As soon as I said that he walked away and as I followed (to ask the questions I needed to ask) it was like pulling teeth to get a response from him. He managed to answer our questions with no details and we left. We came back (our mistake) the next weekend and bought 5 balloon molly fish because he said they would work for our size tank. Everything seemed good but a week later we start to notice how stressed out they seemed. Turns out these fish need a minimum of a 10 gallon tank to be healthy and happy. He also didn't tell us everything they would need, including a pump and bubbler as they lacked oxygen in the tank. We called today to ask if we could return them to exhange for smaller fish that can handle a smaller tank and all he said was no. Clearly they don't care about their fish and I would shop elsewhere. Extremely disappointed because fish aren't cheap and are still animals that deserve to have a healthy environment. read more

As a experienced fish keeper I am very glad to say I am very happy with this store. There is a wide selection of tropical fresh and saltwater fish, the "sick" fish you see are all in quarantine tanks being treated. I recently bought 2 active and healthy baby peacock bass who are growing fast and in which I am very happy with. They have fish you don't see in common pet stores all at a great price. The owner can be a little testy at times but for the most part is very helpful. Definitely will recommend to a friend. read more

What a wonderful experience. I spent an entire hour there picking out my fish with the owners help. He told me what fish go together well and how to care for them. This is a very special place. The prices are good and the customer service is outstanding. The fish selection is very large for both fresh water tropical and salt water. I did not see one dead or floating fish.
