Taro Bingsoo and Matcha with Salted Cream
    Mia H.

DD Sweet House is located in Sellwood and is a cute dessert shop. Parking is a bit difficult here as there's no designated parking lot, so you have to find street parking. Their menu is pretty big, offering a variety of bingsoo and drink choices. Service here was kind but a bit slow when I went (it took about 20 minutes for our bingsoo to come out). We got the taro bingsoo and the matcha with salted cream. I loved the bingsoo! It was a new texture--with strings--but it was really good! It came with toppings and condensed milk to pour over, which made it even better. The matcha drink was really good, but I think the salted cream was very heavy on the cream cheese (but that's a personal preference thing, my friend loved this drink!). Overall, great Asian dessert spot in Portland!

I have been waiting for this place to open up because they have bingsu, then of course, I forgot about it after it opened up. Finally, came here on a Sunday to try it out. Their main staples are bingsu, Taiyaki Soft Serve Ice Cream and drinks. There were 10 different flavors of bingsu to pick from with a price point of either $13.50 or $15.00. Some with fresh fruits while other just have some type of toppings on the side. We opt'd for the taro as we were craving a taro flavored bingsu $13.50. The item came out looking exactly like the photo, no false advertisement there. haha. However, for my one bingsu, it look over 25+ minutes as they only had two machines. That's probably why they have games for you to play to pass time, but you better not come here in a hurry because the wait is long. The bingsu presentation was cute and it tasted creamy. The portion of the toppings were really small, very disproportionate when mixed into my shaved ice. You know what I really would like to know? What were the toppings? I mean I couldn't find on the menu (not listed), but if I had to guess: mochi balls, taro paste and colored condense milk? It was okay, did not love it, but it was fun to try. Overall, the bingsu was quite sweet; needed to water afterwards. Place is cute and clean. No parking lot, street parking only. Can be crowded inside the store as they have limited tables. One cool thing: color changing spoons when cold! Woohoo! Nice touch, DD Sweet House. That was a nice surprise. Take cash or card.

Butterfly pea with mango sticky rice $15

Came back to try more items on their menu and we ordered: Iced butterly pea tea A soft serve Hokkaido Mango bingsu, Thai tea bingsu and melon bingsu Matcha Mont Blanc soft serve. If you're a melon or mango fan you have to get their bingsu!!! The melon and mango was perfectly ripe so it didn't even need the extra sweetness from the condensed milk. The matcha Mont Blanc is an acquired taste it's paste-ty and matcha note is very strong and the Hokkaido soft serve is different from other Hokkaido flavor I've had, flavoring wise tasted like powdered milk and wasn't as creamy and soft but still very good. Everything we ordered was great and I'm glad that I was able to discover DD sweet house! ( already planning my next visit...)

Butterfly pea shaved ice with mango sticky rice

This review solely for the butterfly pea shaved ice with mango sticky rice! I thought it was so unique and not something you could get anywhere else. The same goes for a lot of the other shaved ice flavors, where I've never seen a lot of them on other menus. We came with 20 minutes to closing which we felt bad about, but the people working there were so friendly and made us feel so comfortable! The space is large and open, wiyh cute details and decorations - great for photos! Now the shaved ice was super tasty. I liked the texture a lot - it was really creamy, not super icy, and the mango and sticky rice were the perfect amount of sweetness. It wasn't overly sweet, but more than the butterfly pea flavor so it was a great combination. Portion wise I wish there was more mango, but overall the start of the show was the butterfly pea flavor and shaved ice.

There is shaved ice and there is "bingsu" to quote them "More than just shaved ice, we call it "Silk Thread Bingsu." The texture is soft and delicate, enhanced by the aroma and intensity of the tea flavor, making you forget any previous shaved ice experience." Trust me all other shaved oce is have had is long forgotten!! The mango sweet sticky rice Bingsu was my fav - the sweet sticky rice was the best and a perfect accompaniment to bingsu

Great dessert place that's in the neighborhood with friendly service and delicious treats for you. They have coffee, tea, milk, tea with Boba and sweet treats like Bingso, etc. I ordered the taiyaki fish with custard pastry. I really liked it and I'm glad that it's made in house and not imported from somewhere else. The bingso it is really good too and I recommend getting the mango sticky rice one as well. The drinks are flavorful and delicious so you really can't go wrong with the orders you have here. Although I recommend getting the fish that's stuck in the ice cream cup.

Drove 30 min to find out it's not open with my kids. Very unprofessional. They should put this on their website when they close

Cool new spot that has a good variety of treats. We ordered the butterfly pea with mango sticky rice bingsu (covered with coconut sauce), taiyaki mixed (matcha and Thai tea), and a mango sticky rice slushy. I liked the taiyaki mixed as it had some red bean and sticky rice inside, which was unique. The bingsu was easy to eat, but I think it was missing something. The mango slushy was good but definitely filling. It also had some sticky rice in it.

I came across DD Sweet House on instagram and had to come check out their Bingsu! Everything is super flavorful, portions are generous, and price isn't too bad. Around $13 for the bingsu, around 6 for the iced strawberry matcha. The staff were all super sweet and the building is clean and well thought out. I will be coming back for sure!

Everything was so SWEET. You cannot taste anything else because the sugar overpowers everything. The concept of bingsu with small sides is cool but besides being aesthetically pleasing, it's not that good. It didn't go together and the sides/toppings were quite literally just sides. It didn't complement the bingsoo and overall just wasn't cohesive. We also got a Thai tea and it was literally all ice.

    Black Milk Tea

This dessert spot has an adorable blue-themed atmosphere, which makes for a nice and relaxing visit. It wasn't too busy, which was a plus. However, the flavors were a bit off balance--either too bitter or overly sweet. The black milk tea had hard boba, and even with normal sugar, the tea was quite bitter. From the bingsu series, the fruit was fresh, and the finely shaved ice helped coat each bite well with condensed milk. However, this also made it overwhelmingly sweet, with little flavor beyond the condensed milk.

    Mango galore!!!

On a rainy day - this was a perfect place to hang out and enjoy cold dessert! A perfect treat for being indoors! We chose two items - omg! It's a meal on its own! Two "shovels" up for the mango shaved ice - came with fresh mango pieces, the mango puree and condensed milk - pour it all over and to die for the combination between sweetness and the tangy mango pieces - perfect! Then the Vietnamese ice cream with the lychee jelly and mochi topping that was found on the bottom with the purple ube cream topping was a treat on its own! For 2 items - these could be shared with more than 3 people!!! Loved it!

    Fresh Milk Bingsu

This is the lightest and creamiest bingsu I've had in Portland. The way they shave their ice is unique and it has a nice texture. The strawberry was a little tart and the condensed milk added some sweetness. This dessert spot is on the sweeter side and they don't have milk alternatives. This spot has nice huge windows so it's bright on the inside and there was a decent amount of seating. I came on a Sunday afternoon around 2-3pm, so it wasn't too busy and I got my order in 10-15 mins. There was a rush after 3pm though!

I really enjoyed my ube coffee with sea salt foam and my partner enjoyed his fruit tea with grass jelly. It wasn't busy while we were there, but it looks like they get a fair number of Doordash/takeout orders. While seating is pretty available, there is foot traffic around the register and the barista is busy preparing drinks. The shop itself is clean and a nice place to hang out and enjoy your drink. If you're into collectables/trying your luck, there's also 16 Gashapon capsule vending machines near the counter. Overall, our drinks were tasty and we were happy with our visit. We will be back if we're in the area.

I ended up ordering the Ice Green Tea with no sugar, just plain tea and ice. I don't know if there's cross contamination, or just being super over brewed, but the Jasmine Tea ( the green tea they use) was very very tart. I lean more toward tea quality for my boba drinks, so if you're like me, I wouldn't recommend this place if my visit is representative of their brewing capabilities. It looks like they have plenty of really sweet Milk Tea options for those who lean more toward that area though.
