    Vietnamese ube coffeee

I've tried Vietnamese ube coffee all over the Portland area and this my favorite. I order it without extra sugar but with the condensed milk it comes with it ends up being just the right sweetness. Photo shown is after I sipped it for a while. They serve it full.

Conveniently built into the Shun Fat Market. A small shop with a couple seats but nothing aesthetically to look at, dingy for lack of cleaning and upkeep management. Service was so-so. When asking for recommendations the response was a plain faced IDK :/ Be sure to ask for half sweet for the drink to be somewhat balanced otherwise the flavors will get lost.

Excited to try a new drink. Please make sure the actual drink has flavor and not paying $6 for lightly flavored milk with boba. Would not recommend.I'll stick with Saigonesso, just a few minutes away.

For the final boba of my recent trip to Portland, I chose to go to Royaltea and I'm glad I did. This turned out to be the best drink of the 3 places I went. I found the store a bit hard to find, but that was probably my own fault. Since it's located right next to the entrance of the SF Supermarket Mall, I thought it was inside the mall instead of being on the outside. Anyways, after walking around a bit, I found the real entrance and got one drink. Royal King (Original Milk Tea), 50% Sweet w/ Boba ($6.50) - As soon as I had my first sip, I knew this was going to be a 5. They use a pre-brewed black tea from a tea dispenser, but the tea is quite strong in this drink. It definitely felt and tasted quite a bit more concentrated in tea flavor vs. a lot of other places. Half sweet was nice - it's a good sweetness level that didn't overwhelm the tea. The boba had a great soft chew - maybe just a bit overcooked, but not by much. I thought it would get harder while sitting in the cold drink, but the texture barely budged. Additionally, the boba is soaked in brown sugar, which helps sweeten the drink further. The drinks at Royaltea are not perfect, but way better than most other places. If they opened a shop near me, I would definitely be a regular.

Royal King milk tea with boba and egg creme brulee topping. THE BEST!!
    Trish G.

Hands down our favorite boba place. Their egg creme brulee is THE BEST TOPPING IN THE WORLD and we can't find it anywhere else!! Not even the Beaverton location has it; only this branch. It does make your milk tea sweeter though if you mix it instead of sip it, so lessen your sweetness level accordingly. They use a torch to toast the top, and I ask for it extra toasted cuz I love the roasty flavor. Their boba is also the best we've found; always fresh and great texture and not too sweet. They make a new batch every 2 hours. They recently started offering popcorn chicken, but DON'T BUY IT. It's dry and the pieces are tiny, like the size of a peanut m&m, so you're basically only getting fried breading with no chicken. I wish I took a photo cuz it was crazy. They also offer other snacks but I haven't tried them.

My favorite bubble tea and coffee in Portland. Nice staff, love all decorations all season.

I've been here at least 3 times and what I enjoy about it is that the boba is consistent. I don't love that they rely on things like non dairy creamer, but that seems to be the standard at most places. The rating is for the texture and taste of the boba, which is perfectly cooked and doesn't have the overly chewy taste when you can tell it's been sitting in water all day. Plus, their staff is friendly and the cost is what I expect for boba. I do wish they were able to make more modifications for their drinks, but that can be hard anywhere. I'm glad they have non dairy/vegan options and hope we can find more in the future! (Like a vegan milk tea would be super rad)

    Baked Shrimp Toast

Best place to get a snack and bubble tea! I've tried many different types and places for flan and this is the best place to get Vietnamese flan. The baked shrimp toast is absolutely delicious. The bread is cut thin so it's extra crispy with lots of shrimp. Super recommend!

If you want a smaller boba drink or regular, this is your place! I love how this place offers a smaller cup size for those who don't want to go boba crazy This is a really cute boba shop with a couple chairs and tables. Most people seemed to go there just to get boba to go, which is what my friend and I ended up doing as well. Cute atmosphere and delicious drinks!

I've never really tried Royaltea so this chain was a very new experience for me. There are many milk tea options. My favorite is the taro milk tea. At standard sugar and ice levels it is not that sweet and has an excellent taro fragrance. If milk tea is not your jam then you might consider the Oolong tea with some boba. This combo is refreshing, with just that tad bit of caffeine to get you going and some boba for chewy goodness. I wish they had tea options with fruit flavors, like mango green tea. But their fruit tea options replace the need for flavors and make up a large part of the appeal here. You have the best of both worlds: milk tea and fruit based teas. In short, it's worth visiting Royal and seeing for yourself if it is a one time thing or a place you will continue to visit.

Wow!! I just realized it was my friends' first boba run after being a married couple!! How cute :) My friends had just gotten married the night before in Hood River. The Bridal Party helped them transport their wedding decor and gifts back to the Portland area. The Bride wanted boba!! Yayyyy!! You don't have to convince me!! So we all made a quick boba run before we said our goodbyes. Royaltea is a new boba spot in the area so The Bride wanted to check it out. The Bride gets what the Bride wants!! Royaltea is located in the plaza with SF Supermarket, aka Sieu Thi Thuan Phat. It is next door to the right. It was easy to find for us since they had a large 40% off grand opening special sign. The Groom was kind enough to treat us all for our love... and slave labor. If they ever come across this review, I hope they forgive me for my bad jokes. I really can't help it. Their menu is pretty standard with brewed teas, fruit teas, milk teas, matcha, blended and coffee options. There was something for everyone. Medium drinks ranged from $3.75-4.50. Large drinks ranged from $4.25-5.50. The 40% off only applied to large drinks so I hadddd to get a large :) I had their Royal Queen, which is their special take on the Jasmine Milk Tea, with egg pudding and adjusted it to a 75% sweet. My drink was perfect!! Everyone else enjoyed their selections as well!! I would definitely consider coming back to Royaltea if I am ever back in the Portland-area visiting my friends. If the business ever considers opening a location in California I would be a regular.

    Osmanthus milk tea
    Kim L.

This place gives me hella southern cali vibes in a good way. Located right next to sf market and a pho restaurant, it's definitely one of those places to hit up as you make your rounds in the plaza. No seating was available inside because of covid but they have social distance markers on the floor that were kind of confusingly placed. Very few people actually followed the markers because of that but it was spacious enough inside that people were standing far apart. I ordered the osmanthus milk tea, 50% sweetness, regular ice, with brown sugar boba. The tea flavor really shined through and they didn't go heavy on the milk which is perfect for my taste. Normally I feel so full after drinking milk tea but this was refreshing and light. I really wanted to try the fresh taro milk tea but they're currently out due to covid and shipping issues. Will definitely come back once that's available.

If you're not Vietnamese, Bambu is the Vietnamese chè and sinh tố, loosely translated dessert and smoothie, but in a cup, especially for the dessert. They expanded the menu to include coffee, milk tea and such. 3/5-Overall quality and flavor consistency. If you're Vietnamese, it's best to customize yours to your liking as I find their menu a bit lacking for my preference. My favorite and go to choice is the Pennywort Mung Bean $6.50 for 6-8 oz cup. I get it whenever I visit because it's too much labor to make it at home for me. I'm glad to see durian on the menu during my recent visit with friends on 7/4/26. I had to get it of course since I'm a diehard durian lover! I customized mine #5 Smashed Avacado (Smashed Avacado, Ice Separate, NO PEARLS, No Combo Jelly, No Coffee Jelly, Add Durian ($2.00), the total price is $9.50 (7.50 +2 added durian), not cheap yet I had to give it a chance. Dislike the fact that the smashed avocado was too mushy for my preference so as the durian with tons of fiber threat texture indicated the durian quality was mediocre as best. I'm glad I asked for separate ice or ele it'd have been too watery for me. I preferred my smashed avocado to still have pieces and chunks for texture, not mushy smoothie texture. This location is family owned and most staff speak Vietnamese as well. Clean restrooms with toilet seats covered, you have to ask for the key. Plenty of parking spaces in this corner of Powell Blvd & 82nd Avenue.
