I have had DDM Energy for about 10 years now. I get a service plan every year, do the fixed price for oil, and am on the automatic delivery program. For the third year in a row, we have run out of oil in the winter. So much for their computer monitoring system to ensure you never run out of oil. I called at 6:45 am and was told someone would be out with oil first thing. They didn't arrive until 3 pm and now we have to wait for a separate tech to restart our boiler and I was told that could take 48 hours due to the cold causing them to be busy. So glad I pay over $300 a year for a service plan and have autodelivery to ensure I never run out of oil.... read more

WARNING: BEWARE THE OIL PRICING SHELL GAME. While the oil delivery service of this company has been very good, their billing and contract services leave a lot to be desired. When I first used DDM Energy---one of many names the company uses---they cancelled a negotiated contract because I didn't sign it in time. They don't send the contract under the company name DDM Energy, but send it in an email addressed from an employee. This is deceiving and can easily be missed. I had to go to another company to get a contract price that was higher but not as high as what was in the DDM contract. Two years ago, I ended up back at DDM. The first year I signed up for a price guarantee. But last year, one of their sales agents convinced me that I could get a good price by pre-paying for the season. I used all but $25 of my pre-paid oil supply. Today, the company delivered 63 gallons to top off my tank which didn't need topping off (It was 80 F. outside). The $25 took care of 10 gallons of the 63 at the price I had contracted for. But for the remaining 52 gallons, they charged me twice the contract rate. I was told when I got the contract in 2020 that if I ran out of pre-paid oil, then I would pay the current rate. Today (Apr 28, 2021), the current rate for this company in the same category with others of their size was $2.67, not the $4.20 per gallon for the 52 gallons of the delivery. After much frustration and lots and lots of haggling. a supervisor said he could change the per gallon charge for the 52 gallons back to the contract price, but that I would have to prepay for next season at $2.699 per gallon----according to the Internet, the current price for heating oil for this company is $2.67. While I appreciate that the supervisor helped me, I'd like to know why I wasn't charged the current price in the first place. According to him, they called me three times. Unfortunately, the caller ID showed yet another company name. I was in bed with a severe reaction to my second dose of Covid vaccine and didn't answer any calls or check my voicemail. They had my Email address but didn't send a message. The bottom line is that oil companies have got to stop playing the numbers shell game with their customers. Don't use them they are a rip off. Charged me 4.59 a gallon when prices were at 2.65. They said it was a service fee for the extra amount. Ridiculous charge me a flat fee fine but an extra 2$ when I bought 275 gallons. I just call and order delivery from a discount compmay. Easy and inexpensive. read more

FIVE YEAR CUSTOMER HERE. I went to settle my account since I am moving. The company was really great in getting me to go paperless, except apparently in 2018 they sent communication via snail mail that said my rate was doubling. ONE mailed letter, no notification via e-mail except the regular sales e-mails and what is attached below which is a monthly budget statement with no rate listed. I found out I owed well over $1,000 because they bumped my rate to 4.3%!!!! I was told by customer service that they had sent out a letter in September 2018. What?!!! No follow up phone call, no e-mail, just one letter. As a long time customer they agreed to give me the "cap" rate from that year to make things better. Well, I write reviews for good service and bad. This is horrible. Now I realize other companies send invoices and rate verification notifications monthly. BEWARE if they put you on a budget plan, and beware if you go paperless. I feel like this is a bait and switch situation. They keep the communication about rates to a minimum and boost up those rates. What I was paying (didn't know with the budget plan and the statements) was TWO TIMES HIGHER than the Chester County average. 3 times i had a scheduled appointment for servicing my heater - which I paid $300 for. 3 times they did not show up. I called to see where they were and was told they would be there in an hour. If you want to waste 3 days sitting in the house waiting for service, then call DDM, otherwise find another company that values their customers read more

Hi, I signed a contract with the best of expectations thinking that the fuel oil cap price meant just that, the highest price I would pay. I was charged the capped price of $2.50/gal when the going price was about $1.90/gal at time of delivery. The cap price I thought meant the highest price I would pay not the actual price. So may I caution all who read this beware of what you sign up for, you are better to shop around and I do not recommend to buy from these jokers. John S. read more

I signed a contract for $2.799 for 12 months on Dec 7th and was told if the price went below that I would pay the lesser amount. I asked the salesman what the prevailing rate was on Dec 7th and he told me on that day it was $2.45. On Jan. 11th I got a fill up and was charged $2.799 and called to ask what the prevailing rate was and was told it is $4.09. Locale oil companies in my area are charging between $2.50 and $2.60 now. I was on the phone for 15 minutes with an employee that clearly did not want to discuss the issue so he took my name and number so a "specialist" could call me back to confirm the price of oil on Dec 7th because he had no way to find that information. I am still waiting for the specialist to call me. Please learn from my mistake and go somewhere else for your oil needs. read more

I went on a fixed price oil contract with DDM that started in late september. I was in touch with Paul Niccols, who at first i thought was a manager for the area, but i get the impression he's more of a salesman. Paul was nice and straight forward, and very helpful in setting up the contract. After the contract started Paul seemed unable to help with things, and referred me to DDMs customer service. The service has been OK. The free tune up they offer has like a 2-3 month waiting list if you get started when i did. A little frustrated with the website. Their web setup seems kind of amateur, and the info on the website is outdated. For instance, they hours they post for customer service are accurate (i called during "business hours" on a saturday and no one was there, answering machine said they're only open M-F). Also the emergency number goes to a call center. You leave a message with them and they get in touch with a technician on call. All in all they've been ok, but not really thrilled with the company. read more

Do not be duped. They are way over pricing their customers. My contract states that our billing is to be the prevailing market rate, not to excede 2.79. Our bill yesterday, on 2-8-26 was for 2.79 per gallon. Other oil companies are around 1.50-1.60 per gallon. This company will offer new contracts 1.79. If they are offering NEW contracts 1.79, isn't that the market rate? They are gouging me for an extra dollar a gallon, and have no concern that they lost a customer. So much for customer loyalty. Have been with DDM for over three years. Each year I have joined their "cap" program. This keeps the price the same for a year, but you have to pay what they think they will lose on the oil sales for that year UP FRONT. One year I did well on the bet; however, two years oil did not go up or decreased so I was out the up front money. My bad. My experience with them also included a furnace service which in my opinion was somewhat overpriced. The first year the gentleman that did the work was outstanding. I requested him the next year, but a different person showed up. He did a good job also, as did the different guy the third year. This year was a different story. I had a 12-5 PM window for the service. At 11:58 I received a call from the service technician. He told me in no uncertain terms that he would give me 15 minutes to get home or he would leave and I would be charged. I told him to relax, that I was less than 10 minutes from home and that the door was open and he could go in as other contractors were working there. He called back in 3 minutes to say there was stuff piled around the furnace and that he was not allowed to move it. I arrived home during the call and walked in to find him working over and around boxes of Christmas stuff my wife had placed near the furnace. He was banging tools around and telling me that I would have a fire and just being ignorant and RUDE. He obviously had a very short time limit to complete the job and was so pressured that he did not care what I thought. After he calmed down a bit I told him of my previous services. He grabbed the card off the furnace and said that two of the three previous techs had left DDM. He did not say exactly say why, but it was obvious to me that he nor any other service techs working there were happy with their employment with DDM. I did not want to talk to him further and left to do other Christmas errands asking him if I could write a check and leave it with him. He replied something to the effect that it was not a COD job and so he didn't care what I did, the office would bill me. I left him. (Silly me) When I returned home my wife was baking cookies and the kitchen and dining room (where the thermostat is) were warmer than normal. I noticed the "furnace" was running and checked into it. The air handler could not (by me or the thermostat) be turned off though the oil burner was not firing. I called their service department and got a 12-5PM window for a return visit. After 12 I called DDM to make sure the night person had relayed the info properly. She had and I was told I would get a call before the tech arrived. He called..., same guy, same attitude. When he arrived he called from the door since I was in the basement discussing details with the other contractors. I ran upstairs and he walked right by me to the thermostat, which he checked and then proceeded downstairs with hardly a word of greeting. He opened the furnace cover and did something and the blower stopped. I asked him what he had done. He showed me and was off. I am not a perfect human, but I detest rude behavior. When I called to cancel my oil delivery, I was passed to an account executive who offered to "make this right." More than rude behavior, I detest companies that can suddenly make thing right. It tells me they've been screwing me for years. I would not buy oil from these folks for $0.01/gallon. read more

The worst oil provider, they forget to deliver oil to your house even promise you that you will never run dry. Then the service is just as bad they show up look at your heater for five seconds then say its all good and leave, that is no device. Call them and like the rest of their service they won't or can't do anything for you. Now to pay your bill their web page is always down or no info given, but they still expected you to pay online. Stay away from this company! I signed an automatic delivery contract in 2016 and they delivered oil for me for a year. The last delivery was made in May 2017. I switched to another supplier and called to cancel the automatic delivery and after that they didn't deliver any oil to me for 1 whole year until mid May 2018 when they suddenly came to me, filled up my tank and billed me for $4.599 per gallon, almost twice the market price of $2.3~2.7. I'm in the process of switching to gas and the tank was emptied so they filled more than 200 gallon and the bill was over $1000. I called them asking why and they told me the automatic delivery was still active, given the fact that they didn't deliver any oil to me throughout the past winter. I contacted the customer service and the representative was VERY RUDE. All she kept saying was that per the agreement I had to call to cancel the automatic delivery but they didn't receive it, however when I said they didn't deliver any oil to me in the past winter she simply said that was their company's decision. This is giving me a big headache now as I have to get rid of a whole tank of oil and deal with the ridiculous bill. read more

We have had the worst experience with DDM Energy. Do not use this company! We had a severe oil leak in our basement from our fuel tank, called DDM Emergency number, and the technician came out but could not do anything. He told us to call a specific outside company to get the oil pumped out of our tank. The outside company took 3 HOURS to arrive at our site and then charged us $1000.00 to have the rest of the oil removed. DDM did not notify DNREC until 2 hours after the technician arrived at our hourse. It turns out DNREC would have been at our house within 45 min and would have emptied the fuel tank for free through funds from the State of Delaware. DDM would have known about this policy in Delaware. We think they have kickbacks from this outside company they use to pump out the oil. Do not use DDM--they do extremely shady business. read more

Very bad service ... We were charged a $1.50 extra per gallon for being a non-contract auto delivery customer. We always had to call for deliveries as the tank would get really low, they never filled up the tank on time. But if you are one time customer you paid a very low price. Doesnt make any sense to pay more to be your loyal customer does it?! Very unhappy. Would never recommend them to other. The first year will be great then will come all the contract fee and inflated price if you continue being their customer. read more

Be careful! After the low rate they will raise the price significantly and continue to fill your tank every few weeks. I finally put a lock on the tank and paid the early termination fee. If your in or around Phoenixville use Emory or Americanfuels...they seem to have the best prices in the area. read more

THIS COMPANY SUCKS! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. They canceled my clean out and told me I HAD TO WAIT additional 3 months for an appointment. I DIDN'T cancel they did. My first delivery they charged me wrong I was to be charged 1.69 they charged me 2.19 a gal.On the phone with them again. I was suppose to get a 100.00 credit had to call and fight for that. Oil right now is 1.50 per gal they just delivered at 2.19 WHAT.. How am I benefiting with a contract??? They said that is cash on delivery NO IT ISN'T.I can get a contract with out oil and I can get oil and not pay when delivered. One last thing they took charge out twice. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY---I signed a contract for a year and was told that I would be charged the "going rate for oil" with a cap of $2.39. As we all know oil is a all time low with the rate about $1.59 a gallon. I was charges the cap rate of $2.39-the highest rate that this company could charge me. I called to complain & tried to get out of the contract-but would have to pay a $200.00 cancellation rate. I'm sure I will be charge the highest rate each time I get oil delivered. Their service is fine HOWEVER their billing system is ATROCIOUS and because of that I am planning to switch. Every month for a supposed monthly plan ( supposed to be same $$ amount each month) developed after averaging the year previous use, the amounts are different. When I call no one knows what the charges are for and its a long detailed run around. I like their service but just after 3 years can not put up with all the billing nonsense. Service is paramount- even in their name. This is the former DELCHESTER OIL. However, I called at 7:30 a.m. for no heat, told that I would hear back in 2 hours. After 2 hours I called again, (now 54' in home). Told expect 12-1 service. At 2:00, after I wrote their website contact- I was called. At 3:10 he arrived. By 6.P.M. Furnace calls for heat- NO HEAT. I called after hours #, and told 6-8 hour wait- I said no way! In 20 minutes I was called that "service is on the way". Alright, things happen. BUT this is my 5th issue! They serviced me last because it is on someones' way home, they served me with a surly psycho from NJ!, who really was ticked to come this far in Chester County, and was unable to fix my 200 Volt fan motor ( oh, yeah, really 110 v), a serviceman left a vent pipe unconnected, I wait and wait. I want to pay for service from a company near me. With a service man in my area, and I will be proud to pay more per gallon. We are not whiners or cheap- we expect some measure of successful service sometimes. It is a case of an old school company absorbed by a larger Regional, and the mixture doesn't work. The truth is the Company is fine in every other aspect, never messing up billing ( we pay budget and they have a lot of my money), buy the 1st class service plan, have top equipment, and always get delivery automatically and never misses. They advertise 24 hour service but don't provide it. I'm signed up for automatic delivery which based on the website means I'll never have to worry about running out of oil. I've run out of oil which I discovered at 4:30 pm when I got home from work. I called DDM and the were closed so I was connected to their 24 hour emergency service which is an answering service. They told be there was an 18 hour response time which I said was unacceptable. I was told seine would call me within an hour. 4 hours later and 4 phone calls later I was told that it's an 18 hour response time and they normally don't call. I'm 9 months pregnant, sick, and freezing. DDMs website advertises emergency deliveries, worry free automatic delivery, and 24 hr/365 day emergency service, all which are lies. I would not recommend this company because of lack of customer service and prices paid for an emergency contract and automatic delivery fees. read more

We have a contract with DDM which states they have emergency service 24/7. That is not true. We called them at 1P.M. on a Thurs. because our oil burner stopped working. They called us back and said a technician would be here within 6 hours which he was. He first cleaned the burner (part of the service contract) and then determined what the problem was however he did not have the part. He said they would have to get the part and another technician would be out that night to fix the oil burner. We waited and waited and never heard from them. Finally we called them and got the service who said someone would call us back. Again we waited and no one called. Finally we called again and got the service again. This time they called us back and said no one would be out that night because they didn't have the part! Meanwhile we have no heat or hot water and it is 25 degrees out.
