dd's Discounts gets a variety of goods, some off brands, some name brands (Fruit of the Loom, Hilfinger's , Welch's, Fila, etc.) one doesn't know what to expect, it's whatever doesn't sell at a top tier store or the products had a slight flaw, etc. today wasn't a great day. not a lot of inventory available. what they had slightly pricey. size may have been an issue too. just passed. on the plus side, everything looked neat and organized. read more

This place brought the hood out of me!!! I pulled myself together for an ironing board. I found one without wrapping, with a row of dust on one end, and a price tag of $.99. I waited in line for 15+ minutes to buy this heavily discounted item. The checker didnt believe the board was $.99. She asked Jose, the security guard, who said another employee bought hers for $.99. She still didn't believe it and said she'd give me 10% off $6.99 for a damaged ironing board. ?!?!? Why this made sense to her is beyond me: why would I buy a raggedy ironing board for almost full price over buying a brand new one?!? I went and grabbed a "newer" looking one w/ its wrapping. When I got home, this "newer" ironing board had rust on the leg, dents, and a big ol' run down the center (packaging covered it). I was determined to return that before the store closed at 6pm. I arrived exactly at 5:55 pm. But the doors were locked. A security guard manned the door and wouldn't let me in. I started telling him it wasnt 6 yet. He closed the door and I asked for the manager through the glass. She shook her head from the register. He even told me to go to the San Leandro store because it closes at 8! I didn't leave. I spoke loudly through the gap so the manager and the associate who sold it to me could hear: "I need to return this damaged item here because I bought it here!" I pointed at the associate, "You sold this to me!" The security guard tried to reason and said he'd be there tomorrow. So I asked him, "what time do you start doing this [locking the doors before you close at 6PM]?" He gave me a puzzled look. I said, "I work in the city. I cannot be here by 6PM. I am here now. I got here before you close which [again] is at 6PM." He said well, it's 6:01 PM now. I said, "I have been standing here for five minutes talking to you!" Finally, he relented and the manager helped me at the register. I explained the product was damaged and she quietly and quickly processed my refund. I could not believe how much drama I went through for a measly ironing board that day. I would NEVER recommend this store to anyone unless I wanted them to suffer. read more

This store has some really good deals on clothing and home goods and often times you can find name brands for a fraction of the cost of the original retailer. I would rate this store higher but can't because it is absolutely filthy, the floors look like they haven't been mopped in months, trash lines the floors and everything is either out of place or missing from it's original location. read more

I've been shopping at DD's for years all over. The clothes are cheap and the quality of the clothes lets you know that. I'm giving this a 3 star review because I just got, literally, a $2 (that's two dollars) pair of wedges (5 inches, girls!). Great price and they look great. I couldn't believe my eyes, I asked two workers and they confirmed the price tag. It was super discounted because the shoes hadn't been sold for weeks apparently and nobody wanted them. Great deal for me and the quality of the shoes is decent, too! If you want cheap clothes (with cheap quality though) come to DD's. read more

Well, I Love The Super Low Prices! Love majority of the store... Sadly for my 100th Yelp Review its Gonna Be a Disappointment Review. So D.D's ...... what's going on in the men's department? Each week I go in D.D's Discount Store lookng around or shopping and the Mens Department seems to be disappearing and soon to be Extinct. Like Dudes Shop Too D.D's ! I Asked Employees whats going on with that, They Say " the men's clothes are actually selling out" uhmmmmmmm? Maybe but I don't Buy It... lol So the Biggest Issue I Have Is the Check Out..... Yes they have LONG LINES But in all fairness the lines go down pretty fast (most of the times) The Check Out... now during the last little few bits of a Transaction, The Employee would Yell "NEXT PRESON IN LINE" While they STILL have a previous customer still doing there transaction. ( for example : I'am In a Transaction , while I'm Paying with my ATM Card, The employee says "Next Person in Line" , The Other Customers approaches at the same time that I'm putting in my pen number. Talk about uncomfortable and awkward ! I Think its Very unprofessional and rude to call another customer while you're still in a transaction with another customer. It's Always messy in here. When I'm walking around here, I always seem to find alarms on candles. LMAO this worse than any DD's I've ever been, the clothes are usually flung around, never have a variety in sizes,scrubs they sell here are descent and the thing is I'm Always in Line more than an hour. Never come here on Paydays,you will get hurt and also it's new stock arrives every other saturday, what is so funny is that the security guard doesnt really do much, he sits there and flirts with the younger girls that walk in to shoplift. read more

Went late at around 6pm the store was very disorganized the shoe & purse section was really cramped, the cahiers were rude, and slow, they were talking to each other really loudly and didn't even bother to greet customer or say have a nice day or anything of the sort, the only okay thing was the security guard was nice. Point of sales line was long as usual, with only two cashiers available, one being the MANAGER WHOSE NAME IS JEFFREY, who quickly closed his register as we were the next to be served after standing in the very long line of 20 minutes, I then asked JEFFERY are you going to close your register there's a lot of people waiting to be served? Jeffrey told me to,"SHUT UP!" AS HE CONTINUED TO WALK TO THE BACK OF THE STORE, There was 4 customers behind me who wanted to literally start a RIOT as they too witnessed JEFFREY's reply...I then asked for a form to file a formal complaint, they gave me a receipt with a phone number to the cooperate office, that was not sufficient enough for me, I needed Jeffrey's last name, when asking for this information from other employees at the BANCROFT STORE IN OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA I was told "We don't give out employees last names, however he is the manager. Go to the DD's in San Leandro. I hate going to the one at Easmont too! its always messy and always a bunch of little kids running through the place and tearing up stuff while their mothers just ho humm. ANyway the one in San Leandro is nicer. The Samoan lady (who I think is the assistant manager or head clerk or whatever) is hella cool and will help you when she can. Best times to shop DD's is through the week early in the am. Not in the evenings and not on weekends! great finds! great prices. the DD's in Hayward off of Tennyson is even better. or at least thats what my daughter says... read more

Yikes! Not my favorite place, by far! I came here once when I first moved to the 'hood. I haven't come back. and I live within walking distance, I hate driving, and I'm always looking for a bargain. And yet, I'd rather drive somewhere, including on the freeway, and get my bargains elsewhere, maybe even spend a bit more, than come back here! Now that says it all! Today is March 30th, 2009. About 2 wks ago my neighbor & her daughter were shopping at DD's in E.Oak. A woman about 40ish slammed into her while attempting to hustle towards the door to exit. Another woman (w/ a toddler in tow & baby in her arms) started screaming that the woman running thru the store just snatched her purse! Luckily, the victim was able to speak English well enough to understand. My neighbor, who is bi-lingual, & other witnesses yelled at the security guard to stop her as they explained what just happened. The thief couldn't run very fast & I may be wrong but I don't think it was no coincidence that he let her gallop right past him & out the door. Ppl were like wtf?! and started yelling at him. He said he couldn't do anything about it b/c the thief didn't steal anything from the store (I think he got his positioned mixed up w/ a floor walker). My neighbor told me this yesterday, & I was furious! Now I'm going to find out who all I should notify & also contact the council member in that district. They can find out about the case thru the police report the victim made. That was str8 bullsh**! But I thought I'd let other Oakland residents know thru this site. read more
