It's hard to find a HomeGoods near San Francisco. I was a little worried when I saw the three star review and most of them over customer service. I'm guessing they've either fixed the problem or you just can't please everyone because they ticked all the boxes today. Firstly, I could not find the duvet cover that I wanted and when I asked an employee, if there were more to be found, she looked a little bit and then said you know what I bet they might be mixed into that sheet area and they were I was able to pick up two excellent queen duvet covers for a guests Everyone knows that HomeGoods is the only place to buy dog toys and they have the mother load in right now. I bought an entire bag full of them for Christmas gifts for friends and family with pets. Secondly, I found something I wanted and looked for about 15 minutes for another item like it because it didn't have a price tag. I braised to have someone roll their eyes when I asked them to price it for me and one of the girls was so great she was gone for a while, but I didn't mind. I continued to shop and she brought the blanket back with a brand new spanking tag on it. Had an absolutely stellar experience with Dion at the register. He had no trouble wrapping delicate fragile items, and in fact insisted upon it. This employee goes above and beyond. read more

As others have mentioned, this store is gigantic. The last 2 times I've gone in, I immediately looked for a store employee and then asked that person where the item(s) I was looking for could be found. The first time I tried this strategy, a manager who happened to be near the entrance, walked me all the way back close to the opposite/diagonal corner to see the tub safety mats & shower curtains. (Both the items bought that day have been highly serviceable, still look nearly new.] In the past, before trying this approach, I'd left empty-handed after 15 to 20 min of fruitless wandering. Can't imagine how long it would have taken me to find that area without her help; 5-star service. Today, I asked assistance of someone who appeared to be a clerk and she pointed to the correct area and simply said, "Behind the pole." I went where she had pointed, and when I looked where she'd said, I did find a small section with flatware. Nothing there suited my need. As I was returning to the front, I came upon a snack/treat section and found a bag of dark chocolate-covered cherries marked down to less than 1/2 their original price! Yum! That saved me a stroll over to the See's store down the way AND from paying c. 80% more for chocolate-covered cherries. Yes, I know how good See's is but times are tough... The moral of the story is - unless you have a good, long time to wander around this huge store searching and/or you already know from a previous visit where to find the item/dept. you need - seek out a store employee when you first enter and get directions. Seriously. The checkout was initially a bit slow today but after c. 10-15 min. waiting in line, another clerk came up & the line speeded up. read more

I absolutely looooove HomeGoods in Alameda! I always can find cute and unique merch here. Lunar New Year is coming up and I was overjoyed I found a Year of the Horse teacup and a couple books, most notably one named "I am Golden" which is an uplifting book for children and even, adults like me. It's nice to see Lunar New Year be recognized at HomeGoods. There was even a whole display for this celebration which means a lot to me. Also, I love the candles available and all the year-around holiday decorations and cards. HomeGoods is my go-to for gift giving opportunities. Can't beat the value. Brand new merch for a more economical price compared to regular retail prices. I've never had a problem with service at HomeGoods at Alameda. HomeGoods is owned by TJX Companies and is a sister company to T.J. Maxx, Sierra Trading Post, and Marshalls. Loyal customer of your TJ Maxx brand, "sister" brand. Quality/Quantity - Replaced the Bed Bath and Beyond. Decent size location. My wife can browse all day here also, but TJ Maxx is still her favorite. And it is across the mall. Atmosphere - Again, good size location. See pictures of all the departments. Clean restrooms; I did not use them. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 9:30pm. Service - Self service. Easy check out, well I did NOT accompany my wife. I did carry her bags. Price - Slightly expensive, but a happy wife is "happy life". Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1992 with your 914 locations (2024). read more

2246 S Shore Ctr Alameda, CA 94501 HomeGoods is a large home furnishings department store in Alameda's Southshore Shopping Center. It takes over the old "Bed, Bath, and Beyond" location. I've been in this store a few times. It has everything related to the home. But it doesn't carry repair or DIY hardware. Pagano's Hardware across the parking lot has those things. HomeGoods has some furniture, but no mattresses. It's cool that they carry huge mirrors and rugs. If I need a 5-foot high mirror, I know who has them! I like to visit the store and buy things in person. Sometimes there's lines on the weekends, but cashiers work quickly and are nice. HomeGoods is on the "beach side" of the shopping center. It's next to Petco. Free parking. read more

This is a wonderful HomeGoods. I love the selection of pillows, mirrors and art decor. The cashiers are so very helpful, kind and patient. The Manager needs a little work in terms of personality. She isn't very warm and welcoming. The security guard was also very kind and helpful. read more

Newer store. Clean, well organized and no wait at the register. Was looking for Sees candies and since it was closed somehow stumbled in here. Great place to buy a $400+ couch or odd furniture. I've seen one large living room chair cost $800 at most any place and they are about $200 to $300 here and most importantly you can buy two in case you aren't into the mish mash look. I wasnt in the market for a couch at the moment but was looking for some Sees candies to send off for Christmas to family that lives far away. Was disappointed they closed so early but came into here and found some Godiva in a tin. Tons of other off brand chocolate that I didn't feel like braving. Lots of fake Christmas trees. I found one small tall white one. Out of all the trees I thought that one looked the best. Why try to hide your fake tree I think I would rather have it in neon pink than forest green. My sister in law has this big blob fake tree. It has the shape of an overweight cat - I have to look at that old dusty thing every year. Had parked at Trader Joes to buy some flowers for the holiday. Real flowers not fake ones. I've noticed flowers are always a welcomed gift and have a birthday coming up soon for a lady friend. I'll give you a hot tip: nobody has ever not liked Sees candies, flowers or kitty kat wine. I love kitty kat wine. Now this store is known to have candles - lots of candles. I would be careful gifting candles to people. I once read in some magazine that those are the worst gifts you could possible give - right behind a sweater that is a size too big. Thats like calling your lady friend fat. I don't like goin around calling people fat... so just give them chocolate and flowers. I think giving chocolate is almost like telling people they are too skinny and they need to fatten up. People like that. Also to note - big luxury VW Bus bar. Was four figures in price - but I'm sure somebody with a super big house would love to have that. Almost looks like a place kids would like to play but I'm not sure if kids should play in and around your stash of alcohol bottles. Cashier was very pleasant. She was great at her job and being friendly admitting how fast the low price couches fly off the floor here. Store was immaculate. Not one piece out of place. They have plenty of items and none appear to be damaged or broken which is a plus. Changing every season. The young women stand within the aisles talking to each other and dirty look customers as they enter or shop around them. The men and older woman are kinder. Today was unfortunately the rude staff in the aisles, the cashier was the only cashier working and looked highly stressed and tired. read more

The only reason I give HomeGoods a 4/5 is because the store is congested. You can't push 2 baskets down the isles. It's also hard to find parking. This store is brand new. They opened their doors on 9/21/23. I was able to find everything easily. The shelves were fully stocked with great items! There were plenty of associates on the floor and the checkout line moved expeditiously. This store is a great asset to the South Shore Shopping Center. read more

If you're in a rush, DO NOT shop here. You will wait forever to pay. I really wish they have a self check out. Only 1 cashier, no matter how long is the line. 1 more person comes to help, but they will walk away after helping just 1 customer. I don't know why they don't help ringing all the customers who already waiting. The collections are good. They have seasonal items and price is not bad. This is a newly opened Homegoods. My hubby and I decided to stop by here since we were in the area and we also needed to look for reasonably priced Christmas gift sets. As expected lots of people doing their Christmas shopping and it was very overwhelming inside. it's especially challenging when you aren't necessarily looking for certain items and you're just picking, deciding and choosing along the way but we have successfully found Christmas gift sets that we hopefully they'll enjoy. We also bought items for ourselves so overall it was a successful shopping trip. But, they are fully stocked and had lots of selection for all your home needs. I especially love the planner selection. The service at the cash registers were also not bad even though lines were a bit long. Service was fast and efficient. If we are in the area again we hope to shop here again. read more

Products and prices are good but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff are either complaining about working there, don't want to actually work or are not very helpful or friendly. They hardly have any shopping carts and I left a bunch of items to search for a cart and an employee had put them all away in the 5-7 min it took me to find a shopping cart bc I had to go outside to get one. He didn't even apologize just said I left it in the floor so how was he supposed to know I was coming back. . The cashiers are also super blah and act like they would rather be anywhere else doing anything else but working in customer service. There are broken and cracked items marked on clearance so you have to be careful in looking at what you are buying. At least the return policy is good but make sure you keep or email your receipt. read more

Overall, I've had good experiences here, but today (at @ 1:00 pm), my cashier was very rude. I tried to return an unused bath mat that I bought yesterday (I realized it was not heavy or grippy enough to stay put). I prematurely took off the tag which was a mistake, but I had the receipt. She acted like I was trying to commit a crime. All she had to do was nicely tell me I needed the tag, not go into a diatribe about why it's needed with an aggressive and condescending tone. I understand the need for the tag, but I will seriously question if I should continue to shop here. Aside from the rudeness, most brick and mortar stores have more lenient policies on returns because they want to keep their customers who could get better service and more generous return policies from online stores. read more

Came here shortly after noon to find the doors locked and a small sign in the window stating they would be open "later" due to doing inventory. What does later mean? Who knows? A group of customers including myself circled around the exterior of the store trying to figure out what was going on. A customer who came to pick up an item knocked on the door as a group of us were standing outside and a clearly irritated staff member cracked the door open and refused to give a time estimate of when they might be open again. It was pretty frustrating...the sign in the window should say they're closed for the day rather than vaguely stating they'll be open "later". I went to TJ Maxx instead and as I walked by Home Goods again I saw another group of confused customers milling around the exterior of the store. SMH. read more

I've shopped here a couple times now since they have opened because I work at the hospital close by and twice now I've encountered this specific lady worker and she's pretty rude. I asked the teller next to her if this tin three set organizer was actually $7.99 it seemed too good to be true so I inquired and she asked the rude teller next to her and responded with no it's not a three set for $7.99 well obviously that's why I'm asking to double check since there are more of them on the floor stacked together. The second encounter was a day where all the carts were in use so I had to use a stroller by the checkout counter and as I purchased my items she rudely said now I have to go put this away in a rude manner like lady that's your job and I literally found that stroller by the register. The customer care service and ambiance here is seriously lacking I'll just stick to TJmaxx or Ross. read more

Just called the store to see if they can help me check for a particular item and the lady on the phone told me I would have to come in myself to find it. I have previously called the store before to help look for an item and they were happy to help me find it and even hold it for me, but don't know what's going on with this lady this time. Seems like she didn't want to go out of her way to help me find what I was looking for. The whole point of me calling was to see if they even had it in stock so I didn't waste my time going into the store. What a shame they hire workers like that that doesn't provide the best customer service and leaves you feeling dissatisfied. Do better ! It's not that hard to go out of your way to find if something is in stock. That is your duty if you want to work in retail. If you can't do that, then this job is not meant for you. read more

Store needs to train their employees on customer service and safety. Employees riding around with carts taller than 7 feet tall is a huge hazard, and you are not only putting the ignorant employees in danger, but also the customers trying to shop around in the store.... The black girl on duty Sunday May 20 @ 3:30 pm had an attitude when folks wanted to shop and I guess were in her way... when indeed she needs to open her eyes and see that the appropriate time to ride around with a 6 foot cart is not in broad day when customers are trying to shop and store hours are open. The store needs to highly reconsider the manager on duty. not a good look!This is a retail store and during "open" business hours, Employees need to be on the floor asking customers if they need help or at the register assisting with checkout. I'm very disappointed with one of the workers there. I found a beautiful sheep skin rug but it didn't have a price tag, I took it to the front and the lady told me she couldn't price it because it was a luxury item and there wasn't a manager available. Never before has this happened and something felt really off. She told me as soon as she had it priced she would get back to me asap and took my name and number (I had another employee with me who witnessed this) she called a cowhide a "luxury item" and she seemed to really love the item herself which makes me wonder if she bought it herself and never actually followed through with having it priced out by a manager. My gut tells me something isn't right. A cowhide is easily priced out as I buy them wholesale all the time from wholesale suppliers and told her right then and there we can easily price it out, she refused and didn't even bother to call a manager. Today I called because I need to use it for a staging job tomorrow and it's nowhere to be found. This is extremely unprofessional as she took my name and number and did in fact put it on "hold" and was going to call me with the price. This is a really u fortunate situation as now I need to scramble to find a replacement in the next 4 hours. Follow up and follow through is good customer service. Not following company protocols and procedures isn't. read more
