I love Grocery Outlet, I've been coming hear nearly every weekend for years. I guess I've been hesitant to post about it for fear the secret will get out. It has great prices- some things much more than others, it's clean, and 99% of the time we have a super fast checkout experience. I go to Safeway or Lucky's occasionally to grab a few things and am always shocked by the prices because I'm so used to shopping here. Years ago, when I suggested to my husband that he check this place out he was super hesitant. But after one trip he fell in love and is hooked. Not everything is a great deal, but just about everything I buy on a regular basis is much cheaper than other stores. And no, everything you buy here is NOT expired or about to expire. There are some random items they get that are close to expiration, but generally most items still have a long shelf life. We love this store because it has the best produce quality and selection of all the GO's in the area. It's also less crowded. I've shopped here at all times of the day and on different days and never had to wait more than a few minutes to check out. I'm a vegetarian and they often have a great selection of plant-based meats way cheaper than a regular grocery store. Almond milk is also a great deal here. I often find new products that I love for steep discounts. Random items like these are usually only available for 1 or 2 weeks, so I stock up. They do have some off-brands, but many items are name brand. I still occasionally go to a regular store for specialty items, but I can usually find just about everything I need here on a regular basis, and I cook most of my meals all week. Grocery Outlet is a great place to find some good deals. It depends on what you are looking for. Also, good to double check expiration dates on items. The parking lot is pretty spacious here. It was a crowded Saturday afternoon. I didn't find what I was looking for at this location but was reminded sometimes they get discontinued products or limited quantity of certain items. But, overall, you can find some things you are looking for. read more

My favorite location is the Dublin one. They had lots of drinks for a good deal. My issue with this place is that the aisle seem very tight and cluttered. It was hard to get by people with my cart. I'd come back if in the area though. read more

This is an update to a previous, glowing review. I'm finding, within the last 3/4 months that not all merchandise is marked with a price -therefore, it's necessary to take it to check-out and ask. This is inconvenient if you are trying to total your purchases as you shop and also a change from what I am used to experiencing in this store. I remember a time several years ago I hardly ever shopped here but that was not that I didn't like their products. Not at all, it was more that I was programed to think that the larger supermarket chains was may best friend. I found out that I was wrong. One example is that I bought a 5 pound bag of red potatoes the other day. Then I purposely waited for the Corned Beef to go on sale at the big chain supermarkets which it did! I looked at many different brands and no matter the brand name of the C B which were all small cuts from different areas of the cow, went for like $20 for just over 2 LB'S. As we all know these things shrink when you cook them. So I would have had to buy 3 packages and spend almost $60! I have never spent that kind of money on corned beef in my life! Now, what the heck am I going to do with all those red potatoes I bought? I shop here much more lately! read more

Inside the old Rasputin building. Good shopping experience. Lots of impulse items. Great team working here. Good values - some items aren't marked with prices. This is a building that I was familiar with in the past. Used to be a fun place - no longer. Moms go shopping here now. The children are hungry. Good values. Got a huge cookie sheet that I will use for changing oil. Perfect for spills. Very low price - I think less than if I would get a similar drip pan from Autozone. Some items aren't marked. The cookie sheet wasn't and also a tiny live Christmas tree. The tree turned out to cost $20 when I had it price checked. I liked it but not that much. At Home Depot right now all similar holiday decorations are half off right now so late in the game. Tons of impulse items. If you don't stick to your shopping list its easy to get carried away. After I walked in I was so distracted I forgot why I needed to go to a grocery store in the first place. The people in front of me filled their shopping cart with maybe 40 or 80 of the same item. I think this place is best to find something you really like for a low price and then stock up on it. Good shopping experience. The workers here are great. There were only 10 people in the store - yet right when I was ready to check out so was every single shopper there. Quickly two more registers were opened. Overall I can't get too excited about this location. I probably won't ever return for no particular reason. Different locations are a bit of a different feeling. Try various different stores to see if you like one more than another for whatever reason. read more

I have been coming to this store for a few months now. Overall, I like it because it is not as busy as other locations, it is well-stocked, there is a nice variety of products, and parking is easy. Always parking spots available. However, the reason I am choosing to go with 2 stars is because it has been three times that I am overcharged. For example, a couple of weeks ago I was charged for 2 bags of limes but I only had one. Today I was charged for 6 avocados but I only purchased 3. That was $5 extra paid today. I know it is not much but it adds up, especially since it keeps on happening. I bag my groceries with reusable bags so I don't monitor the screen showing the prices because I am rushed to pack everything and move out of the way as soon as I am done paying. Also, most of the cashiers are nice, but there is one that is a little rude. He threw my groceries onto the area where I was bagging them. It was not personal. I see that is how he is with everyone that comes by. That doesn't mean it is okay to throw them though. Conclusion: I recommend it but I advise you to monitor the screen so that you can make sure you are not paying for items you didn't buy. read more

This location is the newest in the east bay. They're usually pretty well stocked outside of their plants. Other locations have far more succulents than this one carries, but if you're not a succulent freak like myself, that will hardly matter. Plenty of parking but it can get congested as both entrances to park are met with Starbucks traffic. read more

I'm all for savings so when I heard a new Grocery Outlet was opening I made the drive over. Place is new, clean, organized and larger than most offering a variety of items from personal care, cleaning products, produce, meats, snacks, cheeses, wine and NOSH section: Natural, Organic, Specialty, Healthy foods at discounted prices. And for those with gluten, dairy, nut, soy allergies they have a nice selection, including frozen items. Staff friendly and welcoming but giving 4 stars for now as a checker was nice and all, but really? What's up with the full blown yawns with sound effects...um, 4 times while being checked out. I did see his name (but won't note) as this is more for constructive feedback...might want to save that for outside the job. :/ read more

Not a big fan of Grocery outlet since last time I stopped by at another branch, it was dirty and had many expired items but today I was in the area and saw that this was new so I gave it a try. I was impressed on how cleaned it was. There was a line of unsanitized carts outside the store arranging nicely. After I entered, there was another line of sanitized carts so I grabbed one and browsed throughout the store. The store was clean and everything was arranged nicely. Employees were really friendly and helpful. Many organic items and the price was not bad at all. Also, there was an aisle of wine......plenty of them :) One thing though, you have to check the expiration date of everything. Well that's why it's a discount store right ;-) I will check them out again when I am in the area. read more

I enjoy checking out different Grocery Outlets as each one carries different inventories. I heard that a new location opened in San Leandro at the strip mall across from Wal-Mart. Since I was in the area, I decided to stop by this store. This use to be the old Rasputin Music store and the strip mall has a good sized parking lot. Grocery Outlets are franchises so each store has its own uniqueness to them with respect to inventory. A store might carry more inventory in one category or different product offerings. So it can be a treasure hunt on each visit. The floor space here is large in comparison to most stores. Due to it large floor space, it feels spacious due to the wider aisles. The produce, meat and refrigerated section covers the entire back wall of the store. The store carries a lot of inventory in each category, so you get a lot of option here. The shelves were well stocked and the cashier was friendly. This is one of the better stores that I've shopped. A good store choice for you Grocery Outlet shoppers. read more

I love Grocery Outlet and when I heard that there was one where the old Rasputin Records used to be and on Thanksgiving, it was open but unfortunately there was only 10 minutes left before they were closing. So I raced around like a supermarket sweeps contest scouring through the aisles to look for some good deals and I found oreos and gingersnaps that my daughter needed for her baking. This is a sorry Grocery Outlet. The shelves are unorganized and the place just seems dirty. We were looking for vegan and plant-based items but couldn't find much. We asked one of the staff members and they said that was all they carried. The staff member was stocking the shelves and appeared to be too busy to offer us any suggestions. I'm a fan of savings so I got past my sorrow at losing Rasputin's and finally visited the new SLz grocery outlet. There wasn't as much produce as I'll find at the East 14th but this store is much brighter, bigger, cleaner with a safer parking lot. I especially liked the wide variety of dairy and non-dairy items. Like most Grocery Outlets, you'll find unrecognizable brands but you'll also find brands you'd see at Sprouts and other higher-end markets. I was able to find everything on my grocery list save for a few specific items and that's always a plus. The staff was busy sanitizing carts or checking out the long lines briskly. I noticed that First Responders and Veterans can apply for a discount card; they have a Veterans' parking spot right in front. Nicely done, SLz Grocery Outlet. read more

I'm really disappointed that within the pass two months of shopping here'. I have been followed by two Co Workers. The guy with really curly hair and another guy with long brushed back hair that also works the register. I have never walked into Grocery Outlet and not bought anything. I don't carry any big bags and I always and I mean always pay with cash. I shop there at 2-3 times a weeks, not for just myself but for a client as well. Grocery Outlet has really good prices and close to my home. So to get watched or followed is very unfortunate and uncomfortable especially, being a women of color. My cart is always full with items. I don't normally go on this side of town but I heard that there's a new Grocery Outlet where Rasputin Records and Party City used to be. I like Grocery Outlet and have been to all of their locations from Newark to Hayward and haven't been on this one. So definitely had to check it out as soon as I heard about it. I went on a Saturday morning and I got a parking spot right up front! As soon as you walk in, they have hand-sanitizers to the right and the sanitized carts are clearly marked. They also have a spot to sanitize your own carts if you wish. They have markers on the floors reminding you of social distancing and same for when you check out. The workers were all wearing masks and gloves. The place is pretty big, clean, bright and well stocked. Everything is very organized and I see the workers cleaning everywhere. I felt very safe shopping here. There are so many choices especially when it comes to food and drinks. They have a huge refrigerated section in the back and freezers in the middle of the store. I definitely got our grocery shopping on and I stocked up on shelf-stabled foods and snacks. The prices are really good but, as always, I suggest you check on the expiration dates. I will definitely be coming back here. It's a great place to shop for your necessities and essentials. read more

I love going here if I have time to browse. I found Annie's crescent rolls for $.99 compared to $2.99 at Whole Foods. Make sure to check the expiration on your food before buying: This location is only a few weeks old so it's super clean. The downside is that some of the clerks are brand new so make sure to watch when they ring you up and check your receipt. The clerk that checked me out would not accept that he was wrong and I kept pointing out that my small pumpkin was not $6.99. Thank God somebody helped him out and apologized to me. read more

The customer service here from the cashier we dealt with and the manager was horrible, and they had no name tags. The organic strawberries only had the price tag pictured here - the cost is $4.99. The manager stated it is $5.99 and said that there was no big sign for these. We told her since the price underneath states they are $4.99, they should honor it. The manager tried to go back and forth with us about how if she was a customer, she wouldn't think that way, and we said no, you guys made a mistake and should honor the price there. We even told them they should fix that, because there will be a lot of angry customers. Even another customer agreed with us and stated yes, it says $4.99 on the sign. After a lot of back and forth, the manager ended up saying this time around she will give it for that price and we told her she should, because it's the right thing to do. It's not our fault she nor anyone else who worked there did not correct the error nor did they put a big sign with the sale price like they did for the fruits around it. I've always been a fan of grocery outlet my go to place for being a college student, now that they opened one that's 5 minutes away from me that makes me even more happy. They have a great selection of vegan products along with some keto items, I get my plant based milks here the kind that is on the shelf which helps save room in the fridge if it's not open, I love that they always have specials on those products so I can stock up on them, it's super organized here and relaxing to shop at. Unfortunately, based on what I witnessed today, I'll never shop at this store again. There was a young woman buying groceries when she was approached by who we later found out was the store owner. He asked (in front of everyone in the aisle) if she had things in her pockets. When she told him no and asked why he would ask that, he walked away from her. He followed her around, made some calls, and when the woman went to check out, he stood in her face again to accuse her of having things in her pockets. Shoplifting is not uncommon so one would assume he saw her putting things in her pockets although we did not. The woman looked humiliated and asked him to search her pockets since he was accusing her. At that point she no longer wanted to make her purchases. The man (owner) proceeded to ignore her and walk away and when the lady stepped out of the store after giving him permission to search before she walked out, he told her to leave, and then ran out to follow her and take pictures of her vehicle/license plate. At that point the lady came back in and wanted to speak to someone. Another employee defending the owner then said she was probably stealing and needed to wait outside. Good for the lady for not letting them get away with this. 3 police officers showed up and the owner came out of the back room looking embarrassed himself then claiming there was no crime (probably after watching his camera footage). After he harassed the woman by rudely accusing her of stealing multiple times in front of everyone in the store and then following her around, including to her car and taking photos, he did not even offer an apology to her or any other customers for his lack of professionalism. I overheard an officer say that he has done this many times before. Embarrassing for the woman just trying to pick up some groceries, and a potential civil lawsuit. I understand being mindful of shoplifters, but his accusation and approach was condescending, demeaning, and sad to watch. read more

So I just got off the phone with Nicole," the manager" and they said it is normal for Grocery Outlet to ask people of color if they are paying with EBT. She even passed off the phone to another co worker because she didn't want to deal with the mess she just made. I felt discriminated just because of the color my skin. The owners of this grocery outlet should be ashamed. The checker that rang me up was ringing up customers on numbers that weren't his. I thought that went against company policy. The person answering the phone answered it like his own personal phone. I even had to ask," is this Grocery Outlet?" This is a professional business start acting like it. read more

This Grocery Outlet has become my favorite GO store. The store is spacious and clean, items are organized and priced, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I've been to at least six other GO stores in the Bay Area and, since this store opened, I have been here most frequently. Suggestion: Lines for the cashiers flow into a shopping aisle and the line is hidden from other customers wanting to check-out. Perhaps the manager could post signs for customers to form one line. GO store owners are small businesses although GO is a franchise model. read more

This place is insane. They didn't have any baskets and the carts are huge and clunky, so as I was shopping I put the items in my backpack with the full intention of paying. I wasn't being sketchy about it and when approached by the manager I told him he could watch me the whole time because of course I was going to pay. As I finished my purchase and exited the store a woman told me not to come back. I asked why and she said "you put things in your bag". With my receipt in my hand, I told her nothing was stolen and she again said not to come back and turned away. Also, I'm not the only one she kicked out for no reason. A homeless guy trying to buy something was also kicked out right before me. People should not treat people this way. Their customer service is reprehensible. read more
