The vet there was so rude to me and my dog. I brought my dog there with a bad case of cancer and they could not even find what was wrong with him. They muzzled him and took him to the back for an x ray. No diagnosis was established and sent me home with a huge bill. I will never bring any of my animals there again. Only dealt with them over the phone but if you are a new client and haven't paid for an exam at least 4 days prior to even having any exam they will cancel your appointment. I understand wanting to make sure people show up for their appointments but it's ridiculous to cancel an appointment 4 days prior because they have not received payment and they didn't give me a warning for cancelling just said I had to put a deposit down BEFORE my appointment date. I called the next day (3 days prior to appointment) to give my credit card info for the deposit and she cancelled my appointment. Way too money hungry. read more

Awful. I was taking my dogs there for ten years. I liked it for so long because of the staff up front, but then I had a bad appointment with my two dogs last year. I have always had them vaccinated the same way. The vet this day was terrible, was rude to me, then took my dogs in the back to vaccinate. They asked what I wanted and I said "what they usually get" which is 6 months of heartworm, and updated rabies. The vet gave them 12 months of heartworm, bordatella (which I only did once prior) and what should have been about 350 dollars was almost 800. I had no idea what my dogs were given and was having to pay the price anyway without being told ahead of time. I wrote to the head vet about this and the response was to basically find another vet. This is so upsetting, and I looked in the veterinary law and this is against vet policies. They need to let you know what they are putting in your animals ahead of time. And as a last note, the vet who saw my dogs that day also commented that they were overweight (they are not-I cook their food) but I suggest that that vet re-evaluates her eating habits as well because she is overweight and needs to self reflect. read more

Terrible vets office, told me that their kitten packages included spay/neuter and then when it came time to schedule surgery they changed their story and wanted me to pay full price for the spay/neuters. Would not refund my money despite my offer to pay for my services individually. Would not contact a manager to facilitate said refund. Scheduler Amanda extremely rude! It's been a few years since I've taken any of my animals for check ups here. On my last visit they told me my pit bull puppy was deaf, turns out my Great Dane puppy I took in was just fine and grew quite large to a petite 160 pounds. I have been going here for close to 10 years after a couple of bad experiences with different vets in town. The Deanza team is always amazing, and they always take great care of us. They have seen four of my dogs and one cat. Everyone at this clinic is caring and professional. I honestly believe these are the best veterinarians in the city. I have three dogs and keeping them healthy is important to me. I have been here twice now for my dog and they were very helpful and fair. The first time I visited because my dog had a rash on his stomach that would not go away. I had previously been to my other vet twice and was looking for a second opinion. The Doctor there gave me a solution and my dog has been rash free for over a year now. This week my dog had a huge abscess. I really don't like taking them to the vet unless it is necessary, but this had to be taken care of. Dr Otero was very kind, helpful, and gave us solutions to help prevent this in the future. I think the thing I like the most about this place is that they present all your options and they don't make you feel pressured to pick something you aren't comfortable with. It is also a really cute little shop. When we walked in they were arranging flowers and greeted us warmly. We feel very grateful for De Anza! read more

I live in The north valley and De Anza is a little out of the way for me, but it's so worth the drive! The vets here are incredible! They communicate so well and you just know they really know their stuff. Love their staff too, they take such good care of your fur babies. I took my cat to get spay and she ended up not doing well afterwards. I called and called and called and called DeAnza and 1) they rarely answer and 2) never return calls promptly. I felt like my cat needed to be seen and I began calling to take her in and once again I called and called and called and called. No answer. I left a voice mail message. I drove down to the office and they were closed. Their posted hours said 8 to 6 but I was there shortly after 5 and the place was dark and the doors locked. I ended up taking my cat to the emergency vet, Petroglyph Animal Hospital and they were amazing! They actually stop taking walk ins at 4; however, once they realized how upset and desperate I was to have my cat seen, they took her back immediately. She had a high fever indicating she had an infection. They treated her with antibiotics and pain medicine and my cat is already showing signs of improvement. I FINALLY received a call back from DeAnza the following day at 10:30 which at that point was of no help! I would be cautious of taking your pets there because they are not consistent with their hours and close randomly and their voice mail also says sometimes "they close early" I would definitely choose another vet to treat your pet. read more

I'm giving them a one start and not very happy review I feel like the person over the phone one of the vet techs are very rude . I was calling on behalf of one of there clients and she got very rude there was no need for an attitude . I have heard that the doctor are really nice here and I have thought about taking my dog here definitely since it's right down the street from me but I'll stay with my vet . I hope that person has a better day because anyone rude over the phone is mostly rude in person and I would not want them around my animals. 2 stray Kittens were born on my property 1 was attacked by the neighbors dog, I found him under my home sick and dying, I called De Anza for an emergency and they made me wait all day until 3 pm to see him, I had to wait in the car because of Covid, they called and said "they decided with each other to put him down", I was not giving up on the poor guy, and was willing to pay the expensive bill, The vet told me "that they had worked all day, and was not willing to stay after", Even suggest that I take him home and keep him over night until they could get to him the next day, I felt He would die, and told them "No, I was not doing that, So they referred me to Vet 66 urgent care where they would keep him over night, and send him back to De Anza the next day for surgery, I took him to a different Urgent care because he need the help Now, he had infection, 107 temp, and maggots in his chest wound, from the X-ray De Anza said "His Rib was Fractured also. Veterinary Surgical Specialists of New Mexico took him in right away, they started him on Antibiotics, cleaned the maggots out of the wound The Surgery was (The ventral abdominal/thoracic wound was explored. Necrotic subcutaneous, fat and muscle tissue was sharply debrided. The cranial aspect of the wound was deep identified a rib fracture. The obviously necrotic tissue was sharply debrided. . The area was lavaged with sterile isotonic fluids. The cranial aspect of the wound was closed with 3/0 Nylon in a cruciate pattern. The wound was packed with Intracyte and AMD gauze. A soft padded thoracic/abdominal bandage was placed. Recovery from general anesthesia was smooth. Overnight care was transferred to AAEC. We named him Rusty from a book Character My Grand Daughter had read. (The prognosis for healing is fair. Potential complications include infection or failure of the surgery site (dehiscence). Rusty may need additional procedures under general anesthesia to debride or close the wound.) I picked a vet close to my home for follow up care, and needless to say it wasn't De Anza, It was South Valley Animal Clinic, this Dog attack happened on Oct 30th, it is now Dec 3rd, I contacted De Anza for his X-Ray so we can start fixing his fractured rib now that the wounds have closed, I called them Dec 2 they told me I could Pick them up, I drove there, and then they told me that they have a new X ray Machine and they can't make copy's to give me, it would have to be e-mailed, I gave them my e-mail address, went home and waited, I called them, they never took down the e-mail, so I gave it to them again, and waited, by 5 PM they where closed and hadn't sent the x-ray. Dec 3rd called them and was told "the tech wasn't in today, it can't be sent", I asked "if she was in Yesterday?", and she was, but I was told that "they where really to busy to send it" in a snobby voice that she would remind her tomorrow", They act like I'm bothering them, which I paid over $200.00 for nothing but an X-ray that I can't seem to get. I said "I would be calling tomorrow...we'll see. But yeah you never know if they are just to lazy to try to save an Animal, to lazy to give a second of their time, or what the problem is with them, If they say they care about the animal, and it's health...just remember some web sites lie about who they really are. Maybe they can make it public on their web site how many lives they terminated compared to saved. They wouldn't have got a bad yelp review today if they had just took 2 seconds to send me the x-ray, and not jerked me around, and so the kitten can get beyond this nightmare already. read more

After debating about putting my 15 year old baby down. I found this clinic in the phone book and gave them a call. For our initial visit the staff was so helpful, caring and knowledgable. They gave me the confidence in knowing that it is my decision, he was blind, diabetic, and could barely stand on his hind legs. When I finally got the nerve to stop him from suffering the team took him in. Made him comfortable. And he peacefully went to doggie heaven. I had taken my both my cat and my dog here for years and they both were seen by Dr. Williams, who I really enjoyed and thought that she did a great job with both of my pets. She was especially compassionate when I had to put down my 19 year old cat. However, the reason for my one star review is when I had to bring my 9 year old dog in about five years ago for her annual check up and she was seen by one of the other vets. During this check up, this vet told me that my dog had a "terrible" heart murmur (which I had been well aware of for years) and while I thought my dog was still healthy, happy and thriving, she made it out to seem as if I didn't have much time left with her and that her situation was utterly dire. She ordered chest x-rays and blood tests, which I was happy to comply with to take care of my dog, and after all of this she still gave my dog a poor prognosis and proceeded to refer us to the Vet Specialty Clinic. Needless to say, I was devastated thinking that my days were numbered with my loyal companion. When we went to see the cardiologist at the specialty clinic, she did acknowledge that my dog had a heart murmur but that it was easily manageable with medication and that I had no reason to fret because my dog was still healthy, happy and willing and able to be active despite her murmur. The cardiologist also mentioned to me that while an x-ray helps monitor the progression of heart disease, most offices don't have the proper equipment to assess a dog condition or a vet who specializes in cardiology to diagnose the severity of a murmur (so basically I wasted money on an expensive test for a vet to give me incorrect information about my pet!) I was extremely upset that this other vet would misinform me and speak to something that have been out of her area of knowledge. As infuriating as this was, a year or two later when Dr. Reynolds (the cardiologist at the specialty clinic left the city) I returned to De Anza thinking that since we already knew my dog's status and were managing her condition with medication and no changes or setbacks that it would be fine. I was completely wrong. Thankfully I was able to see Dr. Williams, and she gave us positive feedback about my dog and refilled my dog's prescription. However, this is where the problem was- during our visit I asked about continuing to order my dog's medication off of the site recommended by Dr. Reynolds. I was told that De Anza doesn't endorse online pharmacies and I would have to sign a waiver to get my dog's prescription this way. I completely understood and was willing to follow this protocol as it was what I had been doing for over a year AND it was recommended by the cardiologist. I left thinking that everything was squared away and place an order online for her medication but had to wait until it was approved by the vet. When I still hadn't received her meds and checked online, I saw that my order was still pending and I became worried due to the fact that my dog was almost out. I called the vet and spoke to a younger sounding woman who contradicted the information I received at my dog's checkup- she told me I just had to have the online pharmacy contact the clinic, which I did, but when my dog ran out of medication and I still hadn't received a refill I called De Anza again, and another woman told me that they don't affiliate with online pharmacies. I explained the situation and what had happened and that my dog was low out of medication and she basically told me I was S.O.L. And had no sympathy or suggestions for a solution. I hung up with De Anza very disgruntled, and immediately made my dog an appointment at a different clinic (Ventana Animal Clinic) and they were able to see us and remedy our situation and get my dog the pills she absolutely needs. One last thing- when I switched practices I called De Anza to get my dog's records sent over and needless to say they still haven't sent them! We happily just celebrated my dog's 14th birthday, no thanks to De Anza and I will never take her or any other pet here. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Each time I brought my dog without my Mom with me, (btw I am 22 years old, fully capable of handling things on my own) I was TREATED WITH THE MOST UTTER DISRESPECT. I asked to speak to the manager and owner about the problems I had and she proceeded to say sorry, and we will be happy to transfer your paperwork to another vet. This is after I spent 1300$ with them to perform surgery on my dog, schedule him to get stitches a week later. When we got there, they removed one stitch and said it was not ready and let us leave with that stitch out. Later the next day, my dogs stitches ripped open and we had to take him to an emergency vet so they could staple him. THEY LITERALLY DID NOT CARE. I have taken both my dogs to De Anza for 11 years now. I love everything about them. They are efficient and I am able to get an appointment quickly when I need to. They are organized and I have never had a long wait time. They are careful and thorough; they listen and check my fur babies completely every time I take them in. Before they do any procedure they give me a specific list of everything they are proposing and I am free to say yes or no to what I feel is necessary and/or affordable. One of my dogs has since passed on from old age but the one I have will go to the Doctors at DeAnza as long as I have her. The doctors, techs and front office people are all wonderful and I couldn't say enough about how much I appreciate them! read more
