We went here to visit some cousins and hang out on a Saturday. Got there around 10 AM and it was pretty crowded already but we managed to find parking on the road and a spot underneath a pine tree. After setting up, we sat and watched the swimmers, paddle boarders, and some jet ski's out on the water. The water was weirdly warm and pretty shallow - perfect for kids! We also saw a bunch of fish jumping out of the water! That was cool! Be careful though, there's a lot of shells near the water until you go out to about 3 feet - then I think it's nothing but seaweed. Also, be careful of the bees on the grass! My husband stepped on one! We had kites going, played frisbee, and our neighbors had a bbq going, which we said we'd do next time! There are porta potty's on the premise, ours was near the Lifeguard tower (sorry, not exactly sure where we were). read more

Came here Labor Day weekend (sunday) around 5pm. But that time, the park was packed with lots of large groups. Street and lot parking, the parking lot still had plenty of spots available. Even with all the crowds, it was relaxed and everyone was having a good time. Lot's of grassy area. The water is calm, perfect for paddle boarding and little kids. The park was pretty clean, take responsibility for yourself in keeping it that way. With such a large volume of people there that day, the public restrooms were pretty gross. There is also a covered area with tables, a small playground, lots of space for lawn sports, and a few bonfire pits by the water. read more

De Anza Cove Park is a well-rounded recreation area on the northeast corner of Mission Bay.  You can relax by the water, enjoy the narrow beach, have a picnic, launch a boat, play on the grassy areas, etc.  The Park has parking and restrooms.  San Diego lifeguards watch the beach from Sping to October. It's a nice Cove but could benefit from a little TLC in certain areas. I like the way at the end of the cove there is a concentration of picnic tables, shaded trees, and a good grassy area for a variety activities. The grass area was in pretty good condition for being so close to sea water. The restroom were an issue for me on this visit. They needed to be clean. Apparently some transients had taken up residence nearby and made it their own special place. One things you count on the cove, is that there's also a nice breeze coming of the water and it's a great place to go for a walk, run, bike ride, etc.. read more

The hubs and I are trying to find new places to get our power walk on after work. Liberty Station has long been our go-to, but the memories of being there with our recently-departed beagles are too strong, and we both prefer a more direct route (rather than the loops we have to do to get the mileage). We used to train the paths at De Anza Cove, back when we were running, so this isn't really a "new" spot for us. But, we did rediscover it and found that it's one of our favorites. Parking is plentiful and easy to get to, and parking at the end makes it easy to get the 5 + miles on one trip, out and back. It's beautiful being on the water, watching people run, bike, skate and walk all around you. Even though it's starting to heat up in San Diego, there's a nice breeze coming off the water. Sunset on the water is also stunningly beautiful, and I love smelling the campfires from Fiesta Island, just across the water. Definitely an easy walking path with lots of great places to stop to admire the view, the sunset and the water. read more

Date of visit: September 6, 2017 Normally, our department has its annual picnic at Admiral Baker Field, but this year they did something different by having it at De Anza Cove. We lucked out, because while the weather was a bit on the hot side, at least our area was pretty quiet. Located near the bay, it's pretty tranquil out. Lots of space to park, walk around the path, play games, chill... this place is perfect for whatever you have planned. Park bathrooms are what they are, but they aren't as bad as others I've seen. Think I may return here sometime after work days to decompress. read more

Nice little getaway near Mission Bay. They have all the basic features, including but not limited to: Benches Grilles Gazebo Playground Bathroom Fire pits Jogging trail Parking lot Ducks Coots Seagulls Rowing crews Soiled diapers Used condoms Cycling Watercraft Boat ramp You'll rarely find empty bottles & cans (mainly since alcohol and glass containers are prohibited) because the recyclers are prompt with rummaging through the trash cans and gathering up CA redemption items to turn in for money. As with most popular SoCal beach parks, you gotta set up early and stake your claim at the prime locations, especially on weekends and holidays. Not me, though. Not anymore. That early bird setup gig is rough. I'd rather be an late morning or afternoon guest. Thank you very much. De Anza is another fantastic park in San Diego. Like many spots around the bay, there's lots to do and plenty of park space to have fun with friends and family. read more

Came here yesterday for my coworkers birthday party. It faces Fiesta Island. It's a nice park to play volleyball or have a picnic. I recommend bringing a popup tent and lawn chairs if you come here. We launch our outrigger canoes from the back bay here in De Anza. Nice chill spot to BBQ, paddle, bike, walk, workout or strike your selfie worthy yoga pose. I wouldn't get in the water here but its a good place to hangout. They hold several 5k's here. There is restrooms and park rangers that patrol the area. After 4pm its dog friendly. So your lover can come at 4:01 pm. haha read more

I like this park. It has a great walking, biking, running path that is right along the water. This soothes me to be able to walk near the water. I have been to this park multiple times. There are honestly times where I like it more and times when I like it less. Recently, I was here for a 5K PurpleStride Walk. And was bummed out to see that along the path some of the garbage cans were over flowing with garbage and then the garbage was all over the ground. Disappointing for me to see this park look ugly. Even more so when there is an event that hundreds of people are at...this is the time to keep it clean to make people want to come back to the park. Other times I have been here and loved it. There are fire pits for bonfires, playgrounds for the kids and a boat launch. There have been some awesome festivals here that I have attended where there was food, singing and dancing. There are really is nice. They have several parking lots and some trees around the park for shade on a summer day. Writing this review makes me want to go there and spend the day near the water and chillax. read more

DeAnza Cove park is a great area for gatherings or parties. My family goes here to celebrate birthdays and it usually works well. The park is very pretty and well maintained. The trash bins are cleaned and there isn't litter scattered about. He benches and trees are free to use and there are cabanas to rent. There are public restrooms as well as playgrounds and fire pits to really make you able to last the whole day. The BBQ's have been removed though. For a good spot you need to get there early as it does get busy but we have never had any issues with people getting drunk or rowdy. There are a lot of families and kids around. The bay is clean enough to go swimming in and there is a small enough beach to play in the sound. The park is well designed for day use. The There is also camping near by including an RV park. The cove is very centrally located and easy to find. Overall it is a great place to have a get together and spend the day relaxing in the sun near the water. read more

I have been celebrating holidays and my son's birthday here for the last few years. I love that there is ample space and that some areas have two picnic tables. Some tables have bbqs near which is nice but I wish they had more. Trash cans are always emptied early in the morning so no one is interrupting your party to empty the trash. There is also plenty of parking. The reason I like this part of Mission Bay the best is you have the swimming area of the bay, restrooms, a playground, and lots of grass. Not all areas of the bay have all of this. The only drawback is there seems to be a lot of large events that take up a huge amount of the area for events which makes smaller gatherings not as enjoyable. Dog hours are just unrealistic and unfair! With the huge beachfront area in Mission Beach and surrounding area, they expect dog owners (out on a leashed walk) to walk before 9am and after 4/5pm or go to Fiesta Island which has NO tree coverage which is a problem when the sun is out. Meanwhile there are speeding bikes/scooters/rollerbladers and people that don't clean up after themselves all the time. Wish they could ease up on the restrictions or at least have an area for dogs during daytime hours. read more

Easy access bay park with lots of grassy areas, pick nick tables and paved Boardwalk. On the weekends you'll have to get here early to claim a pick nick table as people come and set up for the whole day. Dogs are only allowed at certain times on the boardwalk, right now (November-April I think) they aren't allowed 9am-4pm. No overnight parking/camping. Only downside is there is little "beach" space with sand. Most of the area is just grass to the water. read more

Wish I could reserve a shelter here like so many other parks but there is really only one very large covered space by the playground. First time going to this area of mission bay and this place is alright. Our family had a picnic here and I would say that It's a great place for picnics. It's family friendly; however, dogs are only allowed during certain times. Ambiance: I was expecting it to be spacious and calm like my go to spot for stand up paddle boarding near the Bahia resort. However, this place wasn't as calm as I had hoped and you're restricted to certain areas where you could paddle board because of the swimming area. Also, there's a lot of people jet skiing so the waves aren't calm. If you're looking for more sand or beach don't expect a lot in this place because there's not a huge section of it. Parking: there's plenty of parking which is nice because you don't have scramble to find a spot if you come later during the day. read more

I'm not a park fan and if I am at the beach, I prefer to be in Hawaii. Overall, it's comfortable, clean and easy to access. Bathrooms are a step above most beach bathrooms. Not by much but both times I've been there they've been alright. This location has tables and a sun shade, that is pretty great.
