There's lots of land, two protected flower tends and a beautiful room inside, which can host a small intimate but beautiful event. The inside space is clean and well-maintained and even the bathrooms are comfy and cozy. One of the owners Julia accompanied by her assistant Kendell showed me around and told me all about blackberry Ridge Farm. Blackberry Ridge Farm is a CBD and hemp farm where they harvest these herbs to make natural products as well as a cut flower farm. Speaking of cut flowers, while I was there, I saw customers picking up the most beautiful cut flower arrangements. They also have a large selection of dried flowers which we intern used to create beautiful, decorative heart-shaped wreaths. If you are looking for a small, intimate place to host a gathering or a place to do a hands-on, creative event with your friends, family or coworkers give blackberry Ridge Farms a call they've got you covered.

They provide you with clippers and a bucket and you create your florals. $15 for a half bucket and $30 for full. The farm does seasonal events as well so be sure to check them out on social media! Their collection of CBD and hemp products is impressive (see photos for a small example). You won't regret checking out this local farm in any season. Thanks, Blackberry Ridge, for a fun Friday! We'll be back for sure!

Although, it was easy to make a reservation and there were a lot of time slots to choose from. This included seeing the animals (goats, pigs and bunnies), walking in the flower fields (a sunflower field and colorful flowers), the playground and taking photos. The playground really was not much and I think older kids would've gotten bored easily. For an extra fee, there is a corn pit to play in, a wagon ride and a train ride for kids. We did not do these. There wasn't a ton of places for photo ops, but there were some. They have a shop with goods for sale as well as some snacks and drinks like apple cider, slushies, apple cider donuts, alcohol, etc. We went the weekend after Halloween, so there weren't many pumpkins to see/choose from, but if we went earlier in the season I'm guessing there would have been. On the opposite side of the property, there was a Thai restaurant and a shop that served ice cream and alcohol. There were plenty of picnic tables and even a couple TV's showing football. This was a bit of a walk to get to, though. They also have pizza which you have to order ahead of time with your reservation if interested, but I've heard great things about the pizza. Keep in mind it is only porta johns, like many pumpkin patches. All in all, not my favorite pumpkin patch in the area, I questioned why we needed a reservation and to pay, it really didn't include much, but I'm wondering if we would've had a different experience if we went earlier in the season.

I have purchased strawberries from the Harrisburg stand but I had never been to the actual farm until today. I've been missing the Harrisburg stand all season long. But as I was on my way back from Raleigh today on 49, as if by magic, I saw the Cody Strawberry Farm sign. I was so excited and I immediately turned and went to the farm. I got about halfway down the road I thought to myself, "They probably don't take cards." And I quickly dismissed the thought and said "Everybody takes plastic now." Sure enough, when I got to the stand and ordered my berries and slushy, I pulled out my plastic only to be told that they only take cash or checks. Determined to get my goodies, I decided to head to the nearest ATM back in Richfield. The nice lady at the stand let me take the slushy anyway. I assured her I would be back to pay for it all. After about 10 minutes, I returned for my berries. She was kind enough to still comp the slushy since I went out of my way to go get the cash. That's great customer service! The slushy was absolutely delicious and the berries are too. So glad I finally caught them. Can't wait to come back! This is a great field trip for the kids. Just be sure to bring cash.

They were all healthy, bright eyed, active and well socialized. Their enclosures were spacious, very clean, well maintained, species appropriate and provided enrichment. All encounters were careful to put animal and human safety first. I've worked in vetmed/animal rescue for 30 years so seeing animals well cared for and accustomed to their handlers gave me confidence Darby Farms is a place I can support. Now to the tour itself: Do it. Book it right now. You get SO MUCH for such a reasonable pric. We got two hours of personal interactions, petting and feeding, with over 30 species! Our guide Ryan was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, even taught us hardcore animal nerds some new facts we didn't know. He was skilled at handling even the squirmiest of creatures gently. It's absolutely magical to be able to touch and connect with animals I've only seen from behind glass in zoos. Thank you to Darby Acres for providing this unforgettable experience

In addition, some free range friends walked along with us humans on the tour and literally wanted to eat out of our hands. Our guides, Maddie and Shane, were fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the animals, and excellent at making sure everyone in the fairly sizable tour group had an opportunity to see or feed each animal they introduced. We bought the "Kit and Kaboodle" package which was so incredibly worth it! Some zoos allow you a "personal encounter" with one species, or by holding up an animal and letting you pet it,... but in the encounter room, Maddie and Shane spent an hour or more introducing us to at least 10 animals, all different species, in very interactive ways. We held armadillos, hand wrestled a mongoose, let a tiny monkey jump from shoulder to shoulder between us eating Fruit Loops, fed and high-fived otters, and so much more. I truly can't say enough about how happy we are that we included Darby Safari in our first ever trip to Charlotte!
