I've been going to De Lis for years now, I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. They just renovated the place in the past year and it is gorgeous, modern and updated. The blowout.. That ever ubiquitous hair service that can run you 18-55 bones, depending on the salon you land yourself in. Since I suck more than a brand new hoover at doing my own hair, I've been getting a nice wash n' blow every 3ish weeks. More often for special events. De lis was recommended by a friend for their 25$ blow outs and no bs. Unlike the recent trend of blow out factories, the girls here actually listen, don't drown you in conditioner and oil and won't burn up your hair with a flat iron (unless you ask, I suppose!). I requested a 'mostly straight' blow out with the ends styled/curled. I admit I was perplexed when my hair was sitting in 5 round brushes and my stylist was keeping an eye on a 20 minute timer. I was almost afraid of what I was getting myself into. My fear was unfounded, as my hair came out bouncy (albeit a little frizzy on top). They didn't charge me extra for any sort of special blow out or for my long(ish) mane. Every chair was full inside the salon, but it was clean and seemingly organized. The manager/owner was kind and made it a point to get my hair done at the time the appointment was made. Much Appreciated! I came here twice for a trim and it was one too many. Both appointments were with Eric. Both times were a long wait. I asked for the same trim (1-2 inches off and touch up face framing angles with some shorter pieces for styling) and requested to keep it minimal for my blowout (straight with flipped ends). I ended up with 2-inch deep curtain bangs that landed at my chin. My angles did not connect into my layers and there were 3 blunt layers of hair on my head. My blowout was something of a production and none of what I asked for. Multiple round brushes were kept in my hair to maintain curls while they cooled. I left the salon with full curls. The blowout went back and forth between Eric and another male assistant. The entire time, they were deep in a conversation about luxury vehicles. At one point, the assistant finished my blowout and Eric sat on a stool nearby. I saw him pick his nose and touch other clients' hair. The assistant finished my blowout and Eric came over to rustle my hair next. I washed my hair at home and showed Eric how it looked when it was back to straight (my hair is naturally straight). He told me it looked like that because I didn't style it. I sent a few more photos from different angles and he offered to fix it. I was not going back to him to shorten my hair even more. read more

The salon itself is modern, clean, not too loud or not too crowded. The staff is professional, and courteous. They have a convenient parking lot in the back of the salon. I really just click with the vibe of the people here. I like chill, focused, edgy but warm fuzzy and clean. That's all I want. Then we can talk about what I need. A good cut and style that makes me feel gorgeousity from every follicle. So far Jamie and Emanuel, Eric and Ruby have rocked at that. I went in with roots, a botched bangs-cut and a huge event to attend. Ruby told me to break my base. Ask her about it and then do it. It changed my highlight life. If I could leave less than one star I would. We came from Massachusetts for a wedding and booked a blow out plus application of extensions which I verified they could do over the phone when I booked the appointment. After reading reviews, this seemed like a decent place. Upon arrival, all staff members were rude and unwelcoming. My daughter was told she did not book the extensions and there was no time to put them in. In fact, the woman who worked on her told her she was in a rush and could do her hair fast. Who wants their hair done fast? She had AirPods on the entire time and only spoke to talk trash about the previous client. SCAM. Very bad experience and unorganized. First, my hair stylist didn't even know I wanted a haircut. Pricing is very unclear. On the website it says shampoo/cut/blow dry for $50+ so I called and asked what the real prices are. They are not transparent about what is included in a haircut and blow dry/styling. Beware. Even if they tell you when you make the appointment that the price is $60, if you get it styled the way you want after the haircut, they will add on prices. At every other salon I've been to, the price includes haircut/blow dry/styling and if it's not it is made very clear. Also the front desk is extremely rude. No one had made it clear to us that all tips are in cash. Especially during a pandemic!! And when we said we didn't have cash she said, "well I can't help you." Extremely inconsiderate and rude. ALSO my hair stylist said I had white hairs and should get balayage. I'm in my 20s... I think they just want to add prices anyway they can. Steer clear of De Lis. Sam does a good job and he doesn't tend to cut too much hair off. I had appt, and only waited about 2 mins. I had to encourage him to cut more of my bangs. He is attentive. He accommodates me when I ask him to cut a little more off here and there, but he is on the cautious side, which is good, I guess. I'm not sure if he is a really good stylist, since he cuts very little hair off, about 1/2". He generally follows the lines already there. The wash girl gave a great wash/massage the first time I went, but this time it was just okay. Odd thing is that she left the towel hanging off on one shoulder, with my hair dripping down my back. I noticed that she towel tied the other ladies' hair, just like the way she did mine the first time I went there.... maybe she was distracted. He charges $45 for a cut and the front desk told me that if you don't want it blown/dried out, it's $35. I don't think this is a great idea, cause you'll walk out with your hair wet and won't really see if its a good cut or not. p.s. the stylist next to me, with a curly mullet did a terrible job on his client. She looked like Pollyanna with curls like the mean girl on Little House on the Prairie. update: One week later, I'm noticing that my left side doesn't match my right side. I've actually trimmed more of my bangs and my sides, but I can tell my right side is not layered correctly (I've cut my kids hair for the last 20 years). If I could, I would give them 0 stars. Beware - for a haircut usually all salons include the blowout and styling in the price. When I called to make the appointment I was quoted $60 but when I went to pay they overcharged me. I was shocked when they charged me $10 extra for getting waves in my hair..I can do that on my own without the extra charge. No one told me this until I was asked to pay. Also, she didn't put any product in my hair - no heat protectant, no serums. Awful. On top of that the desk lady was rude, she said defensively 'well did you ask when you made the appointment?' Making it seem like it was my fault for not asking. I've never had to ASK if styling my hair after getting a haircut was an extra charge. I first came upon De Lis Off of Groupon, so I gave it a try, at first I was worried because i know some salons don't treat their Groupon customers as well as their regulars. So this lady at first (maybe a manager or the owner, not sure) was trying tell me about the other services they also offer and that I should look into it. But she wasn't like hounding me to buy anything extra as I thought would happen. So, anyway, I returned because I really liked my hairdresser, Michael. Never got such a horrible blow out in my life! I asked for curls at the bottom of my hair and by the time I was done, have my hair was straight, other half looked like a total mess. If it is your first time here go to Groupon and buy their $35 haircut/blowout deal. I have been here a couple of times and have always been happy with my actual haircut, but don't think I will be going back again due to their extremely bad customer service. I went last week with a friend who had a groupon because it was her first time, and the woman at the front desk was visibly annoyed that she was paying with this coupon rather than full price. When we first arrived she was on the phone so she just motioned us to walk to the back to get our hair washed. She found out later on that my friend was planning on paying with the groupon and she was extremely rude, condescendingly saying how she needed to have let her know that right when she walked in. Even though she was the one who was on the phone and ignored us. You would think they would want the "face" of their business to be a bit more of a people person. read more

So before I begin, I just want to point out that technique-wise I think they do good work here. I watched several women come in and out to get teeny-tiny natural looking blonde highlights. I had them do ombre for me and the technique was there. But my salon experience was not a good one. I came in for an extreme red to very-blonde ombre tip effect and did not leave with anything that looked like the pictures I came in with. Erick was my colorist. Again, he does good work but was not on the same page with me about what I wanted. In fact, he accused me several times of not knowing what I wanted. I came in with a very alternative idea, but I had at least 6 pictures depicting exactly what I wanted. There were several times during the process where I wanted to give feedback to let him know that it wasn't going in the direction of the pictures, and he dismissed my concerns each time. For instance I knew the red wasn't going far down enough, but when I pointed it out he assured me he knew what he was doing and told me not to worry. The ombre part ended up being very natural honey colored and subtle, which again was nothing like the pictures or our discussion of ash white blonde instead of yellow. He did redo the ombre to get it to a much lighter blonde, but it starts way too high up and doesn't get blonde enough. I recommend this place for someone who wants natural looking highlights. Technically I was impressed by his ombre. They use the balayage technique here, which I love. And again, I saw women coming in and out getting blonde highlights and looking great. I just ended up leaving feeling really disappointed after having spent so much money :( I would definitely be open to returning to this salon and re-evaluating if they invite me back to fix it. read more

I'm now regretting not checking the reviews before going here. I asked for them to darken my hair and give me ashy highlights. I even showed them a picture, but they just ended up doing the opposite of what I asked. They charged me $250 for a trim, darkening about half an inch of my roots, and for giving me an "all over balayage"(which was just them bleaching my entire head). They offered to fix it but I'm afraid to go back. I went to avoid the prices of the city but was given a pricey poor cut and color. I'll stick to the pros from now on. read more

Warning !! Bad experience with Eric, he's the owner. He used an electric shaver to cut my hair while it was dry!!! U can not do that on dry curly hair! Not a professional at all! I did a haircut & balayage a while back. All the staff were great. My hairstylist explained the whole process to me and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. He took his time doing my haircut & balayage which both came out beautifully. I got so many compliments on my balayage. Overall, the customer service was great quality & I left very happy. The only thing I can complain about is the lady who washes the hair needs to be a little bit more gentle when doing so, because I literally feared that my hair was going to be pulled out of my head when she was washing it, but other than that I do see myself definitely visiting this salon again once they reopen. read more

I am in love with this salon!! I came in last week to get my keratin and haircut done from the voucher I got on livingsocial btw what a deal!! I was greeted by the receptionist who is a doll;) she introduced me to my stylist David and to the owner Eric, they were very professional and respectful and understood everything that I asked for. It's been almost a week and I can't stop bragging about my hair and this salon!! My keratin is amazing, hair is silky smooth I'm also very pleased that this keratin is formaldehyde free which not Many salons have but tell u they do just so they can rip you off. The staff and owners are quite nice. I just went there with a Groupon voucher and they did quite a good job. The staff is honest and polite. I love the wash-girl! She gave me one of the best scalp massages! The hair-stylists/cutters are great - they give honest opinions about your hair and what styles/cuts fit you. They also do amazing blow-outs here! Every woman who walked out of the salon (myself included) looked AMAZING! I'm not a fan of this salon, but kept going because Jill gave me great hair cuts (and was very nice) and it was reasonably priced. The rest of the staff are rude, keep you waiting, and frequently abandoned me mid-cut or blowout (with large round brushes uncomfortably tightly woven into my hair) to chat, take personal calls, etc. and provide mediocre hair cuts. Very unprofessional service. They did the same thing to my mom. I also agree with a previous review that they make it difficult on the phone to make appointments, but you can walk in virtually any time and there is availability. During the usual stylist chit chat, they have been condescending and made me feel bad for being single, told my sister-in-law she looked "fuller" and asked if she was pregnant (the girl is 100 lbs soaking wet...), etc. They definitely need to work on their people skills and customer service. I just called to try to make an appointment with Jill and they told me after a long pause that she didn't work there. Before I could ask where she went they hung up. I got a haircut and keratin treatment at de lis, and unfortunately was very disappointed in both the salon and in my resulting haircut. My haircut is not what I wanted. The stylist, whose name was David, I believe (he was so soft spoken that it was hard to hear him), would not cut bangs as I asked, saying simply 'bangs will not look good on you, I'll give you an angle around the front.' I agreed because, after all, he is supposed to be the expert. My hair would not sit right when he was done cutting it, and he actually asked me what was wrong with it! He stated that with styling products, it would be fine. It isn't. In addition, the guy was like a bull in a China shop: he dropped things all over the place. I should have left the first time he dropped a clip on the floor, then proceeded to pick it up and actually use it. He dropped combs. He couldn't find the right brush. He got the hairdryer cord wrapped up around the base of the chair, and managed to kick my feet a couple of times while he was working on my hair. The keratin treatment is also much less than I expected. It's been two days, and I carefully followed the instructions not to shower or get it wet. Now my hair lies very flat at the top of my head, then suddenly poofs out all around, as though I've been wearing a hat. I don't know what to do to fix this. The products I bought at the salon make no difference. While the salon itself was well-kept and clean (making me feel slightly better about the dropped clips), the girl who washed my hair was downright surly, and seemed impatient and irritated while she was shampooing me. She came over to sweep up while the stylist was cutting; he was annoyed that she got in the way, she was clearly annoyed as well. It was so very uncomfortable. The receptionist was confused when I walked in about whether I was getting just a haircut, or a haircut and a treatment, when I clearly stated that I would like both when I called to make the appointment. She was also confused when I left, having no cash register, she became very flustered trying to figure out what I owed for the services and the products. I only stayed for both the haircut and the keratin because I paid for them in advance through LivingSocial. That was a huge mistake, and it will cost me twice what I would have spent in the first place because now I have to go get my hair fixed. I've learned from this experience not to take a chance on those deals--if it seems too good to be true...well, you know the end of that story.
