Then she had me sit in the chair Haircut: The guy Alex ham came over I showed him the picture I wanted mind you my hair was to my collar bone area and I wanted a pixie cut he went on about how it was short very short so short after he complained about that he then cut my hair. While cutting my hair he was all over the place and talking to the other employee I just felt like he wasn't really paying attention. Once he was done he took the robe thing off and used the blow dryer to get the extra hair off but left a lot on my arms. He also cut it a bit shorter than I wanted on top but that isn't the end of the world. After I thought a 15$ haircut I gave him a 3$ tip and when I was walking out about to open the door he then said ma'am you didn't pay I said I did pay online he said how much I said 15$ and he said no for your services today it's 70$ before tax so he took the 15$ and deducted it and had me pay the 55$ extra and the tax It was horrible unprofessional and not clear at all and online it didn't even state details on it just a women's haircut is 15$ very misleading they need to be shut down. I scheduled an appointment online for a wash and blow-dry, with the advertised price clearly listed as $38. Upon arriving for my 12:00 PM appointment with my two young daughters, I greeted the two male employees at the front desk. Neither acknowledged my greeting. When I informed them that I had an appointment, one responded in an aggressive tone, asking "For what?!" I clarified that it was for a wash and blow-dry. He then demanded "How many?!" and when I said it was just one appointment, he loudly instructed me to "Go wash!" while pointing toward the back. As this was my first visit, I asked for clarification, and only then did a female employee approach me. The female staff member asked to see my hair, as I was wearing a head covering. My natural hair texture is soft, manageable, and would not take longer than thirty minutes to wash and blow-dry. However, upon viewing my hair, she immediately stated that the cost would be $100--more than double the advertised price. When I asked why my service would cost $100 when the posted rate was $38, she replied that "this type of hair" required that charge. At no point on the website or during booking was it indicated that pricing was "starting at" $38 or that texture-based surcharges applied. I refused the discriminatory upcharge and chose not to proceed with the service. I have attached both a copy of my booking confirmation and a photo of my hair for reference, to illustrate how unreasonable the $100 charge was. In addition to the blatant price discrimination, the staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and the premises smelled strongly of cigarette smoke--further reflecting the lack of professionalism. This conduct is unacceptable. It reflects racially discriminatory business practices and constitutes false advertising. I will be pursuing further action, including filing a civil complaint. This type of business has no place in Lynbrook or any community.

I'm really glad this salon was close to home and they also know how to take proper care of Asian hair. Salon is super clean and very cautious (hand sanitizer given upon entrance and temp is checked). I also watched how Jay & Amy took care of the little kids who came by for a haircut and was really impressed with how great they all turned out. Definitely will come back again soon!

I called a few places prior to trying Luminous and they charge you for a cut and a blow out is additional! I'm sorry but I think it's ridiculous to charge for a blow out after someone is already paying for a service. But anyway!!! Not the case at luminous, my cut and blow was included with my cut and I found that business practice to be extremely fair! My hair is healthy and I will definitely be giving them more of my business. Thank you Luminous !
