Between covid and working a lot, my hair needed a lot of love. Browsing around the internet, I found this salon. I couldn't be more happy with my decision to come in. I was greeted upon arrival and was offered water, tea or coffee while I waited for my stylist to be ready. My colorist and stylist listened to exactly what I wanted..a simple cut of the dead ends and a dark brown color. It came out amazing. My hair didn't feel weighted down by products and my hair was absolutely brought back to life. Maria did a great job. Also made great conversation while doing my hair. Inside the salon is clean and modern. Plastic dividers between each chair. Covid restrictions definitely in place. Even making my appointment was easy and friendly. I called Friday morning to see if I was able to go in that day. I was told they were booked up but have availability at 12 on Saturday. I had said 12 is fine but asked if it was possible to get in a little earlier. After a quick check, I was able to make my appointment for 11! I couldn't be happier with the above and beyond customer service or with how my hair turned out. It has life again! read more

For my 100th Yelp review, I knew I had to choose someplace special. And what better spot than my absolute favorite salon? When I was still new to Long Island, I needed a good salon and it seemed there was a beauty parlor on every corner (those and 7-11s; do we really need this many?) My good pal recommended Aura and said to ask for Maria. First of all, you should always trust a hair stylist with perfect hair. Maria is put together, professional, and on point. If you ask for a style that isn't right for you, she won't dissuade you, but will recommend something that works better. She knows how to make women look and feel beautiful. I got one cut with her while I was 6 months pregnant. I was glowing and trust me, it wasn't from my bun in the oven. I returned for a postpartum haircut (because my hair was falling out in clumps). After my second cut, my hair is a lot healthier and no longer breaks/falls out. This salon has it all- skillful stylists, kind staff, modern equipment, and affordable rates. My hair grows super slow so I typically only need a couple cuts per year, but I won't trust anyone but Aura! read more

I went today with some mixed ideas of what to expect as I got a Groupon for a color, cut and blow-dry. Well, the place is so very cute, well decorated and doesn't feel like a factory. I was offered coffee, cappuccino and water and felt very comfortable. Chris did the cut/color and Lauren did the wash/blowdry and I am 100% satisfied and beyond. Both were incredibly nice, easy to talk to and extremely talented. I asked about their products and Chris (the owner) gave me some great information and was not in the least bit pushy or trying to sell what they had in the shop. As a part of my mom's 60th birthday celebrations, I booked two adjacent appointments with two Groupons at a very reasonable price! My appointment was with Chris and I got a wash, conditioning treatment, normal haircut, and blowout. My wash and blowout was done by Emma and was fantastic! My blowout lasted about 2 days and I really loved the products they used to not make my hair feel weighed down. Chris did my cut, and did a fantastic job and listened to exactly what I wanted without taking off to much length but definitely making my hair feel healthier. Chris is one of the owners, so I impressed that he took on my appointment, and I was appreciative to get the best service. Being treated the same as normal customers when I had a groupon speaks to the quality of the salon. My mother's appointment was with Maria, and she got a single-process color, wash, conditioning treatment, haircut and blowout. My mother's single-process color and cut was done by Maria (the other owner and Chris' wife), and the wash and blowout was done by Emma. My mother loved her cut and blowout, (but her hair gets frizzy and her blowout didn't last more than a day), as well as the other services. Her only qualm was that Maria did overlap her appointment with another client and my mom was left sitting in the chair for 30 minutes after her wash and the single-process color was left in her hair a longer than she was expecting without being attended to which she felt like a waste of time. Luckily we had no where else to be so she ended up being patient. Was not a huge deal in the end and it was again nice for her to have one of the owners cut her hair even with a Groupon. She appreciated the attention to detail and service with her appointment. We both had a great experience overall and will come back most likely for our next hair appointments. A big thank you to Chris, Maria & Emma for their great job! Such a great family-run business. I would 100% recommend this salon to other Yelpers looking for a new home salon. Not too happy with customer service. Was very happy to try a new salon and booked this on Groupon. I arranged my work schedule around a 6pm appt. I received a call the day of my appt my hair stylist was out and I needed to call for new appt. I called assuming they would give me a similar time with another stylist. A woman told me no and they were now closing early. I could come in right now but I was working. She then told me I can cancel my Groupon Well I guess I was just a big nobody at this place read more

I needed a new salon as my precision stylist changed her hours and saw Aura on Groupon and figured I'd give them a try. As we are in a Covid world now, first I'll say that the salon had plexiglass dividers between stations, there were only a few people in the salon at a time, and masks were worn. I had attempted DIY highlights a few months back (I advise everyone against this) and came in to the salon in desperate need of a color fix and new cut. I showed Marie the color I was going for in a photo, she matched it in the color book to make sure we were on the same page and it came out exactly how I wanted it. As for my cut, I'm pretty simple, but Marie recommended adding some long layers for volume (which really did make a big difference) and fixed my side bang which had become more of just another piece of my hair and less of a bang. Emma finished my blow out and I was on my way. Both Marie and Emma were very friendly and helpful. I also picked up a blow dry cream from them that is light and doesn't end up making my already fine and oily hair look worse which is my usual issue with blow dry creams. I had a Groupon that was expiring and I had the option to trade it in for something else. I had highlights done about 3 months earlier at another establishment and was unhappy with the result. I browsed through the hair offering and I came upon the one for Aura so I selected it. I was able to schedule an appointment for Saturday which was great. Upon walking in the establishment is very warm and welcoming. I was greeted by Dawn and she was very nice offered to take my coat. When I was seated she asked what I was looking to do and I explained briefly the color I would like. She was very friendly and recommended a color and a cut. I came here with a Groupon for a Keratin treatment and what a pleasant surprise! Here's a quick breakdown: Pros: 1. While most places stick you with junior level people when you use any kind of coupon or deal, I had the owner's wife for my appointment here. 2. I've been doing Keratin treatments since 2008 and this was one of the best I've had in a long, long time. 3. The salon is gorgeous and the staff is so friendly. 4. The prices are the same as other salons so, to me, it makes sense to just go here. 5. Maria (the owner's wife) convinced me to let her cut/fix my hair. I was so nervous about this since it's been years since I've had someone new cut my hair but she knew what she was doing and she fixed me right up. Cons: 1. No credit card for anything under $250 so go with cash if you're not doing much. 2. I had a $5 tax on my Groupon (which is fine) and a $60 cut (which is also fine) but the receptionist charged me $75. I unfortunately didn't realize until I was at home but now it's going to annoy me that due to some mistake or lack of explanation on her part, I feel like I lost $10. read more

It was time to get a hair cut since my hair looked like a fringey lamp shade. I initially found this place on groupon and couldn't decide on whether I wanted a groupon for all over color, or some highlights. I called the salon yesterday to see if they had an appointment for this weekend and figured I'd decide later. I spoke to Chris, the owner, on the phone and he set me up with an appointment today for a cut and color. Today rolls around and I got there at my appointment time and the girl who checked me in was really nice and got me a coffee (they have a cappuccino and regular coffee machine). I took a seat in the lovely waiting area...20 mins passes...At this point I was a bit worried that they forgot about me since I was just sitting and waiting. I get it- it's a Saturday and they were busy as hell. Looked like they were doing an awesome job on all the clients in there though. So I had my coffee and flipped through a magazine. Christina, my stylist, came to get me and she was wonderful- she listened to what I wanted, didn't make me feel judged for not getting a haircut for 6 (!) months, and we decided on a plan for the ol' locks. I got a chocolate brown all over color and a really awesome cut, with long layers and angled around my face. We chatted and had a nice time...definitely recommend Christina! Overall, even though I had to wait a bit, I'm so happy with the result. Just make sure when you come in, you're not in a big rush to get somewhere ;) I'll be back! read more

So, I had a groupon and thought I'd check this place out. I am usually so dissapointed each time I get my hair done somewhere when I use a groupon, but this time was NOT the case. I seriously got the BEST cut and color of my life when I came here a few weeks ago. I was so lucky to have Maria do my hair, and I cannot even tell you how many people complimented the color in the following weeks. She is very, very sweet and just does a fantastic job. Got a Keratin Treatment done here two months ago. Not impressed. The place is NOT the high end salon they claim to be. The whole process took less than 45 minutes...where the Groupon deal specifically states "During the approximately two-hour treatment, dexterous hands wash head whiskers with a clarifying shampoo before applying a formaldehyde-free Lasio Keratin Tropic elixir root to tip" - yeah, I don't think so. This place is pretty old looking and not elegant. The stylists(?) seemed pissed to be there and did not look happy. Oh, and I was the only one in the entire place. Um, weird. I will not be returning and will recommend anyone who thinks about going here not to go. read more

Came here by accident and I'm so so happy I did. My sister bought me a groupon for a Keratin and one for herself. We went and I got Irina and my sister got Alex. This was my third ever keratin and I love what it does to my hair so I figured why not. Couldn't be more pleased. Irene was personable, sweet, answered any questions and was professional. I came in with dead frizzy ends and left with soft silky hair. I can't give a review on color but she knows Keratin with her eyes closed!!' Just got a fabulous and updated look by Alex from Aura. He is very talented and did an amazing job with my hair which in my opinion is a hair stylist challenge. I had a groupon for this place..i was there for a facial over 2 years ago. I did not get my hair done there. So... I go in for my appt and the girl at the front desk greets me and asks me for my name. I give her my name and tell her I have a groupon..so I gave her my phone and she said ok you'll be seen in a minute. I had my hair done by Maria who I initially thought was nice...then after I got my hair done (which was mediocre at best) she says because I was there over 2 years ago, I have to pay full price!!! Mind you, I only had tip money because I already paid through groupon. Maria embarrassed me in front of everyone at the salon...she then proceeded to call her husband, the owner .and said I had to leave something as collateral!! I was mortified!! I then gave her $40 in cash ( the tip money) and she said I still owe her $20 more!!! I never paid them the $20..i have never felt so humiliated in my life!! I will never go back there and will tell some of their current customers my story! Why didn't they tell me ahead of time that i had to pay extra when i showed the girl the groupon on my phone?? So excited that I took a chance on a groupon and discovered this place! The staff was super accommodating and were able to fit me in for a same day appointment. Normally, I can't stand getting my hair cut as I'm rarely pleased with the result. Here though, Nicole did an amazing job! I came to this salon because I had a Groupon. The stylist was over 15 minutes late so I started off a bit grumpy but holy cow my hair looks amazing. Nicole was so attentive and friendly! She didn't judge my horribly box dyed mall cut hair and really listened to everything I had to say. I was nervous getting a Groupon and reading some mixed reviews but I will definitely be coming back. The color came out fantastic 10/10 and the cut is exactly what I wanted. Nicole really went out of her way to make sure that I got what I wanted, and even offered to refill my coffee for me. 5 stars even after the stylist being late should speak to how amazing the experience was. Honestly, been a long time since I got a good haircut. I've been going regularly, but its always been "eh, got my hair cut"....can't really tell - you know? Anyway, we moved out of Long Beach and I'm on the hunt for a new hairdresser. I sent my sister here once a few years ago to get a keratin and she really liked it...plus, they're like 5 minutes from our house. I made an appointment with nicole and she did such a great job. My hairs got some life to it now, and I dont feel like I need to just put it up anymore. I will start of by saying the end result was so good, and I love what nicole did to my hair. I read the reviews before purchasing a groupon. Yes. A GROUPON. i agree with what all people will say about groupons. If a salon advertises a groupon then they should respect every client with one. I dont like that they nickel and dime the groupon, "partial hl is only a couple" then write that on the groupon and distinguish the difference between half head of hl or partial or dont make a groupon!!! either way at the end of the day its what the hairdresser does. They tried to have me move my appt to another day or come in early and i couldnt do it and felt really bad about it, but you shouldn't ask a new client to cancel or move an appt. thats what i took the star off for especially since i had the appt for 2 weeks. moving on - Nicole gave me a few hl, a little tease of a cut and a blowout and i came out looking so beautiful (if i do say so myself) i loved my hair so much , i booked her for a blowout for a wedding i have, and my friends loved it that they may book as well! read more

Just realized I never left a review! Alex is the best. He did a balayage on my hair last November and I'm STILL getting compliments on how smooth the transition is! I never dyed my hair before and I will definitely never go to anyone other than him in the future. Alex also gave my mom a hair makeover. I was in need of a new salon after some failed attempts. I found a Groupon to Aura Salon and figured I could get a few "money pieces" to keep my overgrown balayage last a little longer. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Today was my first appt with Chris, he did an amazing job. I had an uneven color and a bit of breakage going on. He was very honest with what I should do moving forward and did a fantastic job evening out the color. He did a wonderful job making me feel comfortable and keeping my hairs integrity!
